Frequently Asked Questions

Applications

Question: I have been deleted and I have not been able to post in the Activity thread. What do I do if I want to come back as my character?
Answer: Okay, I understand that this happens. It has happened to me once before and I am prepared on how to solve it. I regularly prune accounts here and, if you haven't posted in a while or whatnot, then, of course, I probably deleted your account. However, if you want to come back, you will not have to re-do the application process or anything. If your account is deleted, it doesn't effect the posts you have made on the board, they are still there. I save all profiles in the archives, whether they are accepted or not, so you will not have to re-write the appy.

If your account had been deleted and you wish to re-join the board, please do the following:
~ Re-register your screen name.
~ PM an admin with the character(s) you wish to be revived. They will then change their profile to code for you so you can re-post your character’s profile. I also keep a record of the number of posts you had prior to being deleted, so I can list that as well.
~ Start role-playing again!

Simple no?

Question: Where do I go to have my character application approved so I can play?
Answer: Just go to the Applications forum and fill out any and all applications that apply to you. There are some in the Extra Applications forum that need to be filled out first prior to making the actual application, but they are short. Nothing like the actual template itself. If nothing in the Extra Applications applies to the character you want to make, then go straight to the template and create your character. It doesn't take long before an admin sees it and goes over it with you. Once it is approved you may begin playing!

Question: Where do I start?
Answer: After your application is done and approved, it is recommended you post a plotting page. However, if you would rather start RPing after being approved that is fine as well. You can basically start anywhere on the board, whether it is 100 miles from your characters point of origin or close to home. Where you start your topic is up to you.

Question: How many characters can I have?
Answer: I placed a max of 4, but please only handle as many as you can keep fervently active. If you think you kept all yours pretty active and wish to add another character, just ask one of the admins for permission before doing so. We would like to know who is who and if you are keeping them active like you are suppose to.

Question: How do I play the game?
Answer: This is a play-by-post game. Meaning it is like writing a story with other people helping it along in more than one way. To play, you make your character, post in one of the RP forums, and write it like a small story. A small snippet really. In that snippet you would describe your character, their thoughts, feelings, what they say and what they do, and anything around them concerning the five senses. To get a better idea of how to play, you can read some of the current topics to see how it is done and how others are playing.

Question: Am I allowed to participate in more than one topic/forum at the same time?
Answer: Oh goodness YES! You are welcome to be in as many topics and forums as you wish! Just make sure it follows a certain timeline. Like if in one post you mention that you know what is going on in a post you are doing with another character, you cannot later say you had no clue what was going on. Or if you say you don't know information about your other topic, you cannot later say you do. As long as you follow that little rule, you are set! Also, remember to keep them all active. You shouldn't negect posting unless the person has announced themselves absense for a period of time.

Question: Do I have to RP about traveling in between places when I want to change from posting in one forum to posting in another?
Answer: You do not have to if you do not wish. Alot of forums require you to do so, but here you do not have to. As long as you have a distinction in timeline then it's alright.

Question: May I be a race or class that isn't on the lists in the World of Feitria forum?
Answer: I am sorry to say but no. There are sex/seven major races on Feitria and I would prefer to keep it that way. The way I made the board it is a little hard to incorperate more than the canon races.

Classes... you have to understand that I made up and also used some from the D&D settings. However, if you wish to have a class that I didn't mention, then you are welcome to. Just make sure to let me know so I can add it as an option in your profile (My Controls --> Edit Profile Info), under Class, and so I can post a topic about it in the world forum. There should be a post on requesting other classes and occupations in the Extra Applications forum. Please, however, check to make sure I don't already consider it a subclass of an existing class or an occupation.

Question: How do I become a god/goddess or gain some other important position?
Answer: Currently all gods and goddesses are controlled by the admins until further notice. Mainly because they are all-powerful characters who are actually allowed to "god"-mod (hence the name), and I, personally, am afraid that someone might decide to take advantage of that... If you think you can be responsible and use the deity to its full potential without abusing the powers, then you are welcome to PM me (Mimi) for permission and I will talk it out with you. I am very strict when it comes to the deities and I do not want to make a decision that could harm other members or their fun in the RP.

Question: How do battles work?
Answer: During your RP, you may run against a rival, enemy, or unknown alignment or class who wants to fight you. However, sometimes it may just be a fight with an NPC. When fighting you simply post as you normally do, describing what attacks you make as you go. The one thing you cannot do is power-play and god-mod! That means you cannot determine the outcome of your own attacks on other members, if they are successful or not, or anything of that nature. The reason behind this is the fact that it does not give your opponent the chance to defend themselves.

Now, I am not sorry to say that this rule even applies to an opponent's familiar. The one thing to remember is that not all your attacks and defenses will be successful and you are required to get a hit at least every other post! You are not perfect and you are not the mightiest being on Feitria! Also, your moves are not capable of taking out many opponents in one go. Talk it out with the other in PM to see who will win or just RP and see how it goes. If you both cannot decide on who can win and refuse to allow the other that notion, make it a DRAW! Not every attack you make or spell you cast will cause devistation.

Another thing, you may NOT say that you attacked and escaped unharmed... It assumes that your opponent was unable to retaliate and that is NOT a good way to start and end a battle. However, if it turns out to be a draw, your character may flee with injuries, but if the opponent chooses to pursue your character then you might as well keep playing along. If you think it has persisted long enough and believe it is going to wind up getting your character killed without your wanting the character to die, contact an admin and we will make sure nothing happens beyond your character having injuries.

Question: There is a different type of spell book for each school of magic, do I have to have one of each to have spells from that school?
Answer: No. You don't really. Just as long as you have your wizard or sorcerer carry his spell book you are set. Just make sure not to make your character all powerful. There has to be limits to his ability to cast spells and such. Witches only have one book, and those are revised and added to over time by the character her/himself.

Question: How do I become a god's chosen?
Answer: ... You don't. They are called "god's chosen" for a reason and the gods do not accept requests. If your character becomes close to the god/dess and they actually start to like you, they will simply give you the position. Until then, be patient, work on the relationship, and you might be set. However, do not get your hopes up if it doesn't happen to your character. If you are not careful, though, your character might wind up being the god's disfavored. Angering or betraying the gods IC may be cursed and the only way to undo the damage is to apologize and wait time out.

Question: Am I allowed to modify my spells?
Answer: Effects, no... Way you cast them, yes. Play with different stuff because there is never any set script with how you have to do anything. Wizards, sorcerers, and witches both work on improvisation and sometimes may have a set technique they like to use in order to cast their spells.

Question: I have seen someone breaking the rules, what do I do?
Answer: Please do not accept it if you see it. Report it to an admin or mod and with the link to the post or topic where the rule is being broken. Just make sure to tell us which rule has been broken or we will just wonder if it was really something wrong. On Evening Star you do not have to put up with rulebreakers, and I do not want you to have to stomach everything a rulebreaker does, especially if it irritates or upsets you. Me and the team are not able to browse every topic, catch, and stop these rulebreakers. PLEASE report it when you see it. Especially if it concerns godmodding and powerplaying. You do not have to put up with that sort of stuff. Anything that offends you, like taboo topics and comments, is going to be made sure it is fixed. You should not be having to defend yourself here. You are here to have fun.

Question: I have a warning on my account, how do I get it removed/lowered?
Answer: Warnings are only given after careful consideration and careful investigation into the matter. Also, it is never given unless a confirmed verbal has been made known of. I keep a list of whom I give verbal warnings to, and proceed to make a list of other warnings made even though it is recorded on the warning system. If there has been a warning there that I did not know of or been informed of, I will ask my mods or admins if it was given and why. If you think you have been wrongfully warned contact me with the warning and who gave it to you (if it is known) and I will talk with them. However, I deliberated. Minor warnings, basically anything below the 2nd warning, can be gone within 30 days. Meaning, if you got the first warning on the 2nd of May, if you do not get anymore warnings for 30 days, then it will disappear. However, it will only apply to the recent warning. You would have to not get a warning for 60 days to get rid of both the warnings, them disappearing as each 30 day expires. Any warning beyond the 4th probably won't come off. We only give legitimate warnings for clearly-broken rules. HOWEVER, we do understand everyone makes mistakes now and again, and anything beyond the 3rd warning will only be for very clearly-broken rules. If it's just a small irritation and can easily be fixed you are not going to get a warning. However, if it is godmodding or anything BIG like that, then you will.

Question: What is an NPC?
Answer: A Non-Playable Character is any person in a topic that isn't an actual member or member controlled. They are not developed characters and only exist to give content to stories and posts. They are free to be controlled by anyone participating in a topic, unless there is a logical reason that they would belong to only one member. For example: If you go into a town and you meet a townsfolk, that NPC doesn't belong to you and can be manipulated by another member who decides to RP with you. While, a familiar or animal companian, belongs to only one member and cannot be controlled by another. NPCs are also easier to beat and harm in battles, and are the only exceptions to godmodding and powerplaying.
