Hi all, I'm batgirl! I live in the USA and am 40+ in age, and have been a gamer for 32 years. My first game system was the Atari Pong C-100 which I got the year it came out. I'm really into gaming systems and have a lot of them, and enjoy taking them apart and fixing problems. Lately I've been working on messing with PS 3.I also play electric guitar and prefer the James Burton model of the Fender Telecaster, and I also have an acoustic Gibson SJ-200. Sort of a game junkie too, and have piles of games I've collected and definitely more than I can get around to playing, since I tend to play a game to death before moving on to the next one. That means a FF game will last me months. This year I finally bought a Japanese PS 2 and started playing/collecting import games, which then prompted me to get a Japanese PSP. I also have an Xbox 360 and love that too. Recently started playing FFVIII which I've had for years but never played. Immediately I became a card game aficionado and spend so long trying to clean out every player I come across (am now on Disk 2) that I've lost Seed levels a couple of times. What got me to sign on to the forum was the topic about rare card locations. In FFXII I liked filling up the bestiary so the card game is another fun collector challenge, plus it's cool to be able to obtain other items in the game with cards, adding incentive to my collecting. I don't have any signatures or avatars as I'm not very good at that sort of thing, mainly because I don't have the patience to create anything in computer graphics. Well that's about all! I see this is a small forum but it is very pleasant and relaxing to view it, and having ads already is impressive for such a small forum. |

Welcome to the Garden, cadet. I must say the card game was one of the things a loved about FFVIII as well. I played it so much I had all of Squall's weapon's, except for his final one, by the time I went on the SeeD test. Cheers, eh. |

Hey there! Welcome to the Garden.First off, great user name! Ironic timing as well as I was thinking about making a Batgirl signature... Secondly, my mouth dropped when you said you have a Gibson. I have an Epiphone Gothic Thunderbird IV bass guitar, but know I'll never be able to afford the real Gibson version... I also import ps2 games, but I usually import the US ones, apart from the odd few from Japan that aren't released outside of it. Do you have a ps3 and a 360? If so, which do you prefer? I'm unsure of which to get. ![]() Also, if you need any help with FFVIII at all, feel free to ask! We're all friendly here and will be happy to help out any way we can... And if you happen to know or find out something we haven't put on here, feel free to post it. ![]() We currently have a forum-based version of Triple Triad in the works, but it's proving challenging due to time constraits. However, it should be finished soon enough. Finally, don't worry about signatures or avatars, they're not necessary, but if you want I'd be happy to try and make one for you. I need the practice. ![]() Wow... That ends the longest reply I have ever written to an introduction thread on any forum.

Hey, I'd sure love an avatar or signature if you have the time. There would be no rush, I'm more grateful than fussy! Wow, the PS 3 versus the 360, I could talk all day about these! Basically the 360 has the best online community in that is the most fun, with the downloads (excellent indie games), the large player community, in-game achievements, chat. The 360 community is getting a HUGE new boost come November 15 when the new Xbox Live rolls out, and I can't wait. This will have customizable avatars, you get a full-on 3-D (three dimensional) avatar, not just 2-D anymore! It is a little person that you can customize (by point/click thank god) with hair, clothes, pose, etc. Even better when you are on Xbox Live you appear as your little person AND the avatar emotes when spoken to! And you get to control the emotions. It is going to be sooo cool. I love the 360 and my favorite game on there so far is Mass Effect, and also Hexic and Cloning Clyde (just a sampler of my fav RPG, puzzler and retro platformer on that system). Plus the Xbox 360 gets so warm it doubles as a space heater ![]() As for the PS 3, it has by far the best hard drive, as is usual for Sony. The system is a computer, basically, and a horse. I have couple of online sites and have been able to work on my pages right off my PS 3 and even sell stuff on Ebay using my PS 3. Can't do that on a 360! You could monitor this website right off your PS 3. It's handy when the computer breaks down. Alas though as the joke goes, the most popular game on the PS 3 right now is called "System Update." Hopefully Sony will fix that with some better games. Maybe Square Enix will get with it and release FFXIII already!!! sheesh!!! That's my rundown of the systems right now. I could go on longer of course!

Thank you very much! Funnily enough, after reading that I'm leaning toward the PS3... The one thing that makes me really apprehensive about going for it, though, is that Star Ocean 4 is 360 only. ![]() Is there anything you would want on the avatar and signature? Such as a specific character or object, or even specific colours you want me to use/avoid? |

LOL I love how you said the Xbox can double as a space heater. It's so true. I know a couple of people who own a 360 and so far the red ring of death has only come up once. Another firend modified his to make it impossible for the red ring to appear. |

Mainly the problem is that a poor grade of solder was used on the Xbox 360. When the 360 is played for a number of hours and heats up repeatedly over time, the solder connections actually melt out of position, resulting in the red ring of death. I imagine your friend must have done the resoldering necessary to fix it. Using a better solder is all it needs. There are online guides for DIY-ers. |

Uh he said something about removing a plate and replacing four screws with better ones, I don't know about the solder but he may have done that too. |

... Woah... Well, that's almost completely put me off the 360... I'm again soldering my consoles ever since it wrecked my old PS2... ![]() EDIT: I think I'm gonna make a 360/PS3 topic... If I haven't already...

Wow. I get grounded for hours and we have a new member. Welcome to the Garden! I'm McTricky, the Garden's Freelance Musician. That is in fact me in my avy and sig. Also on this site you'll see my boss playthrough of FFVIII. All this talk of 360s and PS3s reminds me of my friend, Axel. He always goes on about the technical things like polygons, frame rates, etc. |
