Now, I shall explain what I mean by the phrase in the title. What was the part of Final Fantasy VIII that captured you the most? What was the thing that kept you coming back to the game? For me, it was the way the characters played out their roles. I loved the change in Squall, as well as the overall relationships between everyone. Putting it simply, I'm a suck for a good plot

The only 2 things that thrive for me in ANY RPG is the story and music. Gameplay is an optional factor. If the game is unplayable to an extent then i don't play it. Now, FF8 had some good soundtracks. I'm a sucker for epic latin choirs. And I always prepped my headphones for boss battles. Also the story was one of the best I've seen. Any story/game that makes me shed a tear is a story/game worth praise. |

Well, it started off because all my friends hated it (they're on the FFVII bandwagon), but after my second time through I thought Squall and Rinoa were really well thought out characters. They're some of the few dynamic characters in the series and actually change throughout the story, something that I haven't noticed too much in other Final Fantasy games. It also helped that FF8 was the first Final Fantasy I played, so it's got a special place in my gaming soul.

Well, being honest I used to be on the FFVII band wagon as well That is, until I picked up FFVIII again after a couple of years and "fell in love" with Rinoa more than anyone

FFVIII was the first "intelligent people" game I ever played. I loved the sheer drama of the plot, the games system... and especially Squall. A whole lotta smexiness, dressed in the best colour ever: black! (what I mean by intelligent people game, I don't exactly associate Croc and Crash Bandicoot with Stephen Hawking...then again... :/) |

Well, it's hard to pinpoint ONE thing. The musical score (btw, I play guitar and am currently working on a remix of Maybe I'm A Lion), the gameplay, the battle system, the way the characters kind of tap into your own emotions, etc. |
Anger is my friend, Rage my power.![]() Sig compliments of Rael. | |
