On another note, I mentioned this before in the cbox but it bears repeating that I'm leaving on the 7th to go sightseeing in Belize for a couple of weeks. Depending on how far things get I may need someone to finish up the fight with King Moblos. Once that's done you'll all be free to moderate your own plots or go item hunting while I'm away.

Background:
Rohan wasn’t too different from most Hylians before Ganon’s attack. He hadn’t planned on turning Treasure Hunter always; in fact, before Ganon’s reign of terror, he began an apprenticeship in Metallurgy due to his proficiency for earth magic and his love for sculpting metal. While normally not too long of an apprenticeship, plans had to be altered with Ganon’s attack on Castle Town and thus, his training continued in a crowded Kakariko Village. Lack of materials and jobs to take almost doubled the time of his apprenticeship and even with it completed making him a journeyman, the world was still in shambles after Ganon’s seven year long reign over the world.

Seeing that bartering was the current main source of income in this new world, his status as a journeyman seemed to almost be for naught. Rohan, after much thought, decided to join the newly formed Cult of Link, more out of necessity rather than agreeing with their ideals. He worked to insure their arms and armor were of sufficient quality and in exchange, he was given the opportunity to go on the treasure hunting quests. Even with the consistent threat of danger in these dungeons paired with self-proclaimed lack of martial prowess, he always seemed capable of holding his own just as well as the strongest fighters in the expedition, much to everyone’s confusion. He always shrugged it off and said it must be dumb luck as he took the haul back home to the Green Knight’s base.

Abilities:

  • Psychometric Metallurgy - Rank 1 - A copy of a weapon that Rohan can see is created in his hands using metal in the earth around him. He also learns a basic enough understanding of the weapon from it’s original user so that he is capable in using the weapon effectively. If the weapon is lost or destroyed, Rohan loses this knowledge.

  • Mimicry - Rank 1 - After seeing an ability/maneuver/spell/skill used, Rohan can imitate the motions used to do it and recreate a lesser version of it himself. He can only keep one ability at a time in his mind although he doesn’t lose it after he uses it.

    • Current Stored Ability: None


  • Vault of Shadows - Rank 1 - The Vault of Shadows is an extraplanar space that Rohan is able to store and call upon his creations from his Psychometric Metallurgy ability. The space isn’t inhabitable or enterable by living creatures. While he can store any number of weapons in the space, Rohan only knows how to use that specific copy of the weapon. For example, if he copies an opponents longsword and stores a copy in the Vault, if he were to find a different longsword in the wild he wouldn’t know how to use that longsword unless he made a copy.

  • Disguise Self - Rank 1 - Rohan makes himself, including his clothing, armor, weapons, and other belongings on his person, look different until the spell ends or until he dismisses it.

Background:
An elite Octorok that was recruited into Ganon's army towards the end of his terror reign. Like many others of the "monster" races, he did not join out of conviction but rather out of necessity — Ganon would wipe out the Octoroks if the King Octorok did not offer a percentage of its population as a tribute. After Ganon's demise, Octavius stayed around in castle town, opening a small potions shop which sees a moderate amount of customers each day.

While in Big Octo form, Octavius grows to the size of a small car, and the strength of his abilities are increased proportionately — the projectiles he fires using Mucus Attack are bigger and thus stronger, his larger body makes his Water Breathing ability to last a considerably longer amount of time, and so on.

Background:
The Wizzrobes took no part during Ganondorf's reign of darkness (note: there were no Wizzrobes at all during OoT), and only after his downfall did they begin to appear... their motives and structure are thus unknown to the people of the realm, the only thing known about this mysterious order is that their members are powerful magic users with a variety of elemental and summoning spells at their disposal. Wiz in particular stands at around four feet high, and has a rather childish or effeminate voice, which might make people believe its a child in a fancy wizard costume, but is in fact a high-ranking officer of some sort within the Wizzrobe.

Elemental Affinity: Wiz has an elemental affinity for Fire.


Abilities:

1. The Famous Wizzrobe Teleportation Spell

Teleports across distances. At current rank, can only teleport within five meters, and must wait ten seconds between teleports.

2. The Mysterious Wizzrobe Multiplication Spell

3. The Useful Wizzrobe Hammerspace Thing

Creates a pocket dimension within the user's robe. Only small objects can be drawn into this pocket dimension. The user is able to transport objects to this dimension by touching them with the palm of his hand after reciting a short chant. The user can also summon objects from this dimension and materialize them in his hands after reciting a short incantation.

4. The Official Wizzrobe Fireball Spell

Shoots a powerful fireball from the palm of the hands. The power of the fireball can be doubled by using both hands at the same time. At current rank, the fireball dissipates after traveling twenty meters, and user must recite the chant for five seconds prior to shooting the fireball.

    As Lieri sustains injuries whether inflicted by herself or another, her Ferocity increases, empowering her physical attacks and slightly increasing her speed.

  • Axe Kick: 1
    Typically utilized after a successful Crucible, Nel throws a dagger above a target before dashing to her blade and delivering a powerful downward kick to her target's head.
  • Barbed Strike: 1
    Typically utilized after a successful Crucible, Nel delivers a follow-up kick to her target with accompanying Forest elemental damage, with a chance that her targets is afflicted with a poison that will slow their movement
  • Tempered Rain: 1
    A pool of Water forms at Nel's feet allowing her to throw poisonous daggers into it that will then rain down on a target from above, afflicting them with a poison that will lower their strength and weaken their physical strikes.

How does everyone feel about removing the Rank system? I'll still give out new ability slots and allow people to add extra effects to existing abilities at various points. I'd only be removing the Rank # and the 10 uses part, so the overall system would be more or less the same, minus the numbers.

any particular reason why? did some kind of issue come up?

Other than Kaze it doesn't seem like anyone's abusing it and I think it works well as a counterweight to the Plot-given Slots, since even if we're not following the main story (like Tai and Caleb and Nel) we can still progress our "power levels."

The only reason I'm bringing it up is because I'm not sure I should be giving out a new ability slot after every boss battle or event, but now that I think about it I've completely spaced on equipment rewards.

I was going to give you three rewards for that once it's done, unless you had some kind of treasure in mind already. As long as people are participating I'll hand out rewards regardless of whose plot it is, I'm just trying to think of alternatives to ability slots for everything.

If someone thinks they should get one and haven't yet, they can just PM you and you can take a look or something.

If someone thinks they should get one and haven't yet, they can just PM you and you can take a look or something.
no one right now IS abusing it really except maybe Kaze with his Fire Breath. And I think it'd be better to just bust Kaze's ass for spamming than it would be to take the power-up ability away from the rest of us.

stop wanting to make new characters that are the same kind of smashy-crushy character as the one you already have just because you're bored

change the situations or scenarios by having your already present character take more proactive actions, or be proactive as a NARRATOR by introducing new stuff into the scene on your own volition

Kotsueki's hair is as white as freshly fallen snow. It's nearly six inches long now and slicked back out of his face. Helping keep his hair back are four horns. The two center ones follow his skulls curve for about five inches and end in points. The two closer to his temples curve back a little ways then continue to curve down behind his ears until they're coming along his jaw before ending in a point. Said ears are shortly pointed and close to his head. He has fairly bushy eyebrows beneath the horns with orange colored eyes. Like twin flames in his sockets. His nose is slightly broad with a little crookedness to it due to getting broken. Below his nose lies the mouth, averagely thick lips and hiding a set of slightly pointed teeth. The jaw is strong with a slightly broad chin. His face has no hair aside from his eyebrows, no mustache or beard.

Standing at an impressive six feet seven inches, Kotsueki has a larger build than average. He's muscled but not like a blacksmith would be with a heavy upper body. His skin is a dull gray, much like stone, with dozens of scars littering his body. Making him look like a gray chunk of marble. Nothing else mars his skin, no blemishes, or tattoos, and no body hair.

His clothing is his armor. It's layers of animal hides stitched together and covering his more refined leather armor underneath. The refined leather is the typical tan color, dulled with age, while the hides are grays and browns of whatever animal he killed. Sitting at the small of his back are his butterfly knives in specialized sheathes. Each grip was facing a opposite directions for an easier draw.

Background: Kotsueki had been sealed ages ago. No one knew except the archeologist team that had dug up his casket. But in the process of them unearthing that box of sealing they broke something. Which woke him up and out he came. A decrepit thing, looking starved and dehydrated. Unfortunately for the team of people they had a kind heart and approached the demon.

The moment their hands touched him they were drained. It wasn't a gentle energy transfer. It was a painful tearing as the nearly dead demon ripped their energy, their souls, from their husks and devoured them. The small team of people fell into piles of dust and clothing as he returned to some of his former self. He still hungered, half mad with it. With only a single thought running through his mind he left his prison behind and tore through the archeologists camp in search of more energy and other sources of food.

The few people in the camp couldn't get away from the speeding and starved being they had unearthed. They became one with the dirt as he devoured their physical stores of food. In a mere hour he had almost returned to his normal self. But he was still a little weakened and there was nothing left around for him to fully restore himself. Unfortunately for him there was an unknown effect from the seal that prevented him from returning to his original self after a certain time limit. He'd have to do it the hard way.

He didn't figure that out until a week later as he tore through caravans. Devouring the peoples energy and eating whatever was actually edible. Nothing about him had changed physically except his wounds had closed like normal. While it pissed him off it also got a big grin out of him. "I have plenty of time..." Not that anyone but the dust-piles heard as he geared himself up and wandered off into the wilderness of Hyrule. This wouldn't be the first time he fought for his strength. But he hadn't sensed another demon around. So maybe he could be top dog once he was fully restored.

Equipment:

  • Weapon(s): Butterfly Knives: A pair of fairly large blades, each one roughly two feet long, with a bladed knuckle-guard. A little worn with use but well kept.

  • Armor: Hide Armor: Layers of animal hides mixed with refined leather. Worn and frayed from wear and tear but still useful and well kept.

  • Accessory: N/A

  • Inventory: N/A

Spirit
Air

Abilities:

  • Soul Thief: Rank 1: Kotsueki is able to take spiritual energy from other beings to recover his own. The longer he holds on, it has to be physical contact, the weaker they get and the more he heals for.

  • Pure Rage: Rank 1: Channeling his inner rage Kotsueki's strength is boosted alongside his pain tolerance. Downside is while like this he has difficulty distinguishing friend from foe.

  • Untouchable: Rank 1: Allows Kotsueki to move around faster. Running, walking, attacking, dodging, it's just a general movement speed boost

  • Shocking Grasp: Rank 1: Kotsueki's hands are electrically charged. This charge transfers to whatever he's holding, which is normally his weapons. Which gives his butterfly knives a shocking effect.

OK, I'll leave the rank system as it is for now, but I'm gonna normalize the number of ability slots for everyone.

Sin and Arc, you can each give your characters a 4th ability.

All new characters can start with 4 abilities.

You can make a demon.

Since most folks didn't seem interested in my Monster Factions thing aside from NTNP and maybe Kill--whose own involvement in the Cult of Link faction is now somewhat up in the air since they've both disappeared--I've talked things over with Burnt and decided to combine them into one big generic "Hordes of Darkness." I'm gonna put a few NPC profiles and some other stuff here to have for reference. I'm going to try to keep this as a side-plot kind of thing, and it may not appear for a while yet since we're already having conflicts with the Players being split into two parties thanks to the bandit raid Kill started and then promptly abandoned.

What are the rules regarding high-tier characters like some of those posted above. They have way more powerful abilities than a staring character ought to have, for example.
