The Hyperspace Arsenal's only real purpose would be to store and retrieve the weapons, the character wouldn't be manipulating outright space-time. The idea for the character is a sort of wandering hero/treasure hunter, who searches for powerful magic weapons to keep in his personal armory, not specifically a space-manipulation mage.

Yeah it'd probably just be some kind of generic hard-light energy, maybe with elemental versions of the weapons later on.

The cooldown would be that he has to wait until he's off the battlefield to prepare them again. And the effectiveness of the boost would also depend on how much time he spends preparing them. If he can't get a moment between battles to actually sit down and start carving the runes or whatever, he wouldn't be able to use them as much or as well.

What's the difference between temporary weapon mastery and permanent weapon mastery though, logically? I mean, the power is only relevant as long as he's holding a weapon anyway, so if it was temporary it'd just last as long as he was holding that specific weapon...and if it was permanent, it'd activate as long as he was holding that specific weapon.

It'd probably be fairly weak, yeah. In the Shadow of Mordor game, when you place an enemy under your control you don't actually directly control them, really. They just stop seeing you as a threat--or, based on their dialogue, they might stop "seeing" you at all, maybe because they're being enchanted to like, "not notice" you or something. But then when your Brand grows stronger later in the game, you're able to give them simple orders, like "defend me" or "attack this target." Past that, they react as they normally would if they were protecting, say, their own chief or whatever.

For the magical tracking Mark, I guess I don't really know since I don't have any examples so far of what the magic in your RP is like. It'd have to be tailored alongside other people's abilities to keep it balanced. But I'm thinking that a target could only get rid of the mark if they could find it, or if they're mind controlled, if an ally or something found it for them because they wouldn't be able to themselves. But because it'd be designed as a stealth/assassination technique, I can also see the Mark being impossible to either find or remove, simply because it's not very stealthy to have a big glowing symbol appear on your enemy, so logically why would they design the spell that way? But yeah, I'd need to see what kind of ranges, lasting power, etc other people's spells have first.

So given all this explanation, which of these character ideas do you think would work better in the context of your RP:

Hyperspace Arsenal: Character is searching for powerful artifacts he can store and then easily switch between during battle. His goal is to basically horde these items to make himself more powerful, because he believes that power is necessary to fulfill his other goals. Might also use Runes, maybe not depending on the quality of items he can track down.

Energy Constructs: Character is a warrior mage of sorts dedicated to a specific cause--rather than an assassin or terrorist, more along the lines of a lone hero or vigilante working to fulfill his goals. Would probably also use Runes, since the construct weapons would be more limited in what they could do compared to the Hyperspace Arsenal.

The Rune Knight: Character is very similar to the one used for the energy constructs concept, with the primary difference being that this one would be a formal knight or vassal serving some other power--due to the modernized setting, maybe he'd be a bodyguard to some individual or a secret agent, rather than a literal "knight." He'd use the Runes, Weapon Mastery, and Weapon Bonding ideas all rolled into one, so that he'd be able to perform in a variety of situations.

The Wraith Assassin: This character would be an assassin who believes that he's working to remove corruption from the world by killing political figures, important military leaders, etc. He would use the Mind Control, Drain, and Tracking Brands along with stealth oriented weaponry to ninja his way through obstacles and make the deaths of his targets more difficult to trace back to himself.

Ok so as I had discussed a few days ago, the roleplay will be revamped into a war setting. With this being the 20th century the war setting, you can think of this like World War 2 and I think choosing this over something like World War 1 is something more suitable since people here seem more familiar with the 2nd great war. However some of you expressed that we don't have enough people to have our characters fight directly, so we will be doing something more indirect and yet still have a impact on the war. Instead our characters would be more behind the scenes fighting from the shadows. As I had mentioned before, there will be two global secret organizations (I have finally come up with names).

The first are the Knights of Hades and they are antagonists. The organization is strongly tied to Demons from the Underworld, who for many centuries have sought to find a way for the Demons to easily reach the surface and conquer the Overworld. The Demons that are present in the Overworld are either those who were able to remain before a powerful seal was placed to prevent the Demons from crossing over (I plan on exploring some of this in the story itself instead of telling it all here) or they are those who did manage to cross over after the placement of the seal, but with great difficulty. Most of the of the public don't believe Demons actually exist and view them more as mythological beings as there have been very few known sightings of them over the centuries after the placement of the seal. Demons have also disguised themselves to blend in with the general populace, making it much more difficult for them to be discovered. The people in the Knights of Hades are diverse coming from many different backgrounds and from all of the races.

The Knights of Hades follow an ideology that the world under the governance of mortals was ineffective as they believe this resulted in so many of the world's problems due to the races of the Overworld being "too flawed" and that the only way to fix this was to hand the world to the Demons, who they believed had the power and capability to bring order to the world. The ultimate goal is to break the seal by flooding the world with chaos and oppression and to push for these results, they have manipulated various organizations and governments around the world for centuries, ultimately resulting in the Knights of Hades having a hand on influencing the course of history. However, they have also sought other ways to break the seal although they have been unsuccessful.

The other organization, the playable faction, is the Order of Trajan, named after an ancient hero widely believed to be a mythological figure. They oppose the idea of the Knights of having the Overworld governed by the iron fist of the Demons and instead believe that the peoples of the Overworld have the right to choose their own destinies. They also prefer peace over war and oppose oppression and tyranny. As such, while they oppose the Knights of Hades, they are also willing to dispose of the oppressors of the innocent, who are usually either part of the Knights of Hades or affiliated with them. They are also tasked with eliminating Demons although encounters with them are very rare. Those who did return with encounters with Demons reported that they are much harder to deal with than members of the Knights of Hades.

Members of the Order of Trajan follow a code of conduct, with three of the most important being: be one with the crowd or hide in plain sight (which meant to be discreet when killing targets and don't be seen when doing so, as if you were never there, although there is a bit of flexibility depending on the circumstances), do not harm the innocent (which should be pretty obvious, as that would be against the ideology and objectives of the Order, when it comes to armed individuals such as soldiers, combat with them should be avoided unless it's absolutely necessary), and do not compromise the organization (ones actions should not bring harm to the organization or its members, which includes not selling out, not leading hostile forces to Order strongholds, etc). Like the Knights, the Order also comprises of people from many different backgrounds and all races and they also have allies who are not part of the Order.

Now I would write more but I'm really tired now, so I'll write more the next chance I get.

1930s-1940s tech. Aka fighter planes, machine guns, tanks, submarines and battleships, etc for weaponry. Non-weaponry, TVs, fridges, cars, electricity, cameras, phones, telegraphs, etc.

How present is magic in this setting, since the technology level is so much more advanced? Do the two methods ever interact? Or is magic kept secret or considered a myth by most of the population? I think you've said before you wanted this to still be fantasy, just in a modern world, but are we talking Harry Potter style or something like Shadowrun? If technology and magic are used side-by-side, you'll need to think of what effects this has on how the world works--large scale teleportation, for instance, completely changes the nature of everything from the transportation of goods to the very idea of what constitutes a nation-state (a good example of this is the "Tippyverse," which is outlined on the Giants in the Playground forums).

Magic is present in the game and abundant, everyone more or less knows what magic is and is used a lot. Using both magic and technology together has happened, but having it work successfully is easier said than done depending on how complex one wants it to be. Furthermore, I would imagine technology is considered more reliable than magic (doesn't mean magic has been thrown out the window). For example, how much easier do you think it is for someone to learn how to use a handgun than learning to cast an offensive spell? Sure may vary person to person, but I would broaden it and examine it more in general.

Of course you bring up good food for thought on how combining magic and technology will have on the world as a whole. It would no doubt have a huge impact, but I think if having magic and technology work together successfully is easier said than done, then I think that having something pretty world changing like the way the transportation of goods, maybe on a massive level, may not be impossible to achieve but at the same time is difficult to actually have it work out, especially since we are looking at two different worlds here (tech and magic).
