This isn't all that fleshed out at the moment. The idea is to create an RP where the players are the driving force of the story instead of the admin. There is no main plot; players would have plots of their own underway or would participate in one of their character's choosing. Nothing would have a set outcome. For example, let's say I have a cult trying to do something cultish. Obviously the cult itself is going to have a plan, but players would be able to influence the overall outcome. One character might dedicate their self to wiping out the cult, while another might join them to see their plans to fruition. Or it could be completely ignored and the dead would rise en masse. A different player's organization might have conflicting or common goals. Your own plots would operate under the same rules, and actions would have consequences. If a character wants to lead a peasant rebellion and become king that's possible so long as it's presented plausibly. Players could also team up to run things. I had a lowish fantasy setting in mind and you'd all be able to add anything that you needed to the world so long as it fits within my definition of "reason" for such a setting, much like the creation process for Calatia's Throne. I know this is only a general premise but I don't want to get more detailed unless people are on board with that much. If you have questions, ask away. |

I'm not so big on making my own plotlines. I'm not an original person and I'd rather not run anything at all o3o |

I voted yes, but I guess it really depends on the setting. Fantasy I assumed? |

You don't have to run anything if you don't want to, it would probably be too hectic if everyone had something going on at once. Just participating is fine. Also, when I say plots I don't necessarily mean some grand scheme with all sorts of twists and turns; characters' personal stories are more than enough, but you'll have more freedom with them.
Low fantasy is what I have in mind but I'd do middle or high if people really wanted it. Or science fantasy. |

i also vote for low fantasy, but i would like to have at least a sort of "earn your spotlight" thing where if we're making the effort we can still be epic badasses in the end |

That's fine so long as they are low fantasy epic badasses. I also forgot to mention in the pitch that there's no starting level or anything like that for characters. A character could be a recruit in the army or they could be the general. The overall idea is to allow a large degree of freedom in the interest of giving everyone an opportunity to make something that interests them, rather than having the admin try to singularly accomplish that. |

Freedom is grand and all, but for some of us a limit is required. Onime has his Tai and I have my Kaze. I don't know what anyone else has. |

I think we should have no limiters. Let everyone run wild. That's what made the old rp's grand, right? |

Part of the reason for a low fantasy setting is that even if everyone runs wild they won't get that far. Characters aren't going to be throwing each other through mountains when it's a rarity to see someone thrown through a wall. The setting itself is enough of a limiter that Tai and Kaze as you are referring to them aren't really feasible in it. With that in mind, I also expect people to be able to constrain themselves and not be constantly pushing the boundary of metagaming because again, you won't accomplish much by doing so and will probably end up very bored very quickly. And lastly I'll have the final say on things as admin and will knock things down a peg or two when necessary. To use Kaze as a further example, I would have no problems with a dragonkin race. As I remember them in CT though they were immune to magic, or at least magic of a certain element. That's the sort of thing that I wouldn't allow. Also, please post in here if you vote one way or the other. Onis and Onime have said yes which leaves two unknowns, one of which may or may not be Kaze. |

I'm surprised anyone remembered a thing about my dragonkin except that they were "op". They were immune to whatever element they spewed from their mouth. But they could get hurt by any other element and were incapable of performing any magic. o3o And I voted yes. |

along with being stronger and faster and resistant to melee weapons because of their scales along with being able to fly along with having claws and fangs that were somehow sharper than steel along with having perfect battle instincts and centuries of experience because of longer lifespans |

They actually rarely lived beyond the age of 30 thanks to constantly going out into combat. They were stronger but not fast. They couldn't fly, they can glide if they have the altitude or just power jump. They didn't fight with claw or fang unless they were out of options. Their scales were a natural defense but didn't make them much harder to kill. It was their armor and weaponry that was superior to steel and was the only real material bonus they had. Not having any form of magic is a major hindrance that none of you really understood. They can't fart fireballs or piss lightning and their immunity to whatever element was worn on their bodies by the color of their scales. |

I thought this was a topic about low fantasy character-driven RPs, not dragons. ...Didn't vote yet, for the record, just observing more than anything else. |

YOU'RE just a youngin' D:< wait that's a compliment Anyway, like I said before Burnt, if ya need a map or something I can help with that, and I'm available most mornings if you wanna bounce ideas or something. Haven't decided whether I'll use the "legendary weapon hunter" guy who throws enchanted artifacts into a hammerspace bag, or if I'll use a re-design of Tai that's been on my mind for a while. Anyone have any input on that? Also does anyone wanna talk about their ideas for character plots? Maybe we could get some kind of overlap going or something that would help facilitate people joining up into parties or conflicts or whatever. |
