Another option would be to increase the AI level of your world a little. Imagine that all Mechas possessed a certain level of sentience in their programming and in order to pilot them there had to be a level of "alignment" between the pilot and the AI system. It would make it where the pilot could leave the AI in charge for a while, have the Mecha be increasingly important (almost like a secondary character) and might become more interesting as the narrative progresses. With that being said, I do like the Titan Fall concept buildup wise. |

I like mechs more than Powersuits but the kind of mechs I like also tend to not be the mass-produced gundam style models. So if there are no hyperspace drills and hammers I'm fine going with powersuits and cyborgs |

What mechs are available if we do go that route? I know we have the whole light, medium, heavy types but is any design available? |

I'll hunt down some example designs, but if your character has done some custom work on how his mech looks, I'm A-Okay with that. Also you watch too much TTGL, Onime |

Warning: I didn't take the time to scale these, so opening some of these may stretch the screen. Apologies if so. If you added a helmet to this could it be a suit, or would it be more like Police Riot Gear? Would this be a good reference for the three sizes of suits? Would this count as a medium or a heavy? Does something like this have enough pieces to be considered a suit of any type? The game series this is from has this being a bit taller than human height. Would that be too heavy even for the bigger classes? Should it be a full blown mech? Again, would this be an actual suit, or more like plain body armor? Would these be suitable references for the framework of a mech and a suit, respectively? Would attaching chasis, weapons, etc to this produce the right kind of height, proportions, etc?

1. Yes, that would be more like a police officer 2. Light and Medium are too close together, and things will be just a little taller than that. I'll be getting references together, though. 3. We'll be going with larger-styled mechs, so I'm moving on in the questions. 4. You would need to be covering the full body. Practically speaking, have nothing in the middle/abdomen is removing core strength out of the armor suit and will make the whole thing pretty imbalanced and hard to wear. 5. Again, I'll be getting a size comparison together. 6. That's body-armor 7. That first image is really close to how big a Light Mech would be; so just so you know, I won't be dealing with anything HUGE. |

Oh okay so we're going full blown gundams except maybe not so big? No more powersuits? Hmm I'll have to rework my character idea a lot for that I guess. |

Alright, so here's the low-down on Exo Suits. LIGHT Class Mechs stand at 12 feet tall, MEDIUM at 16, and HEAVY at 20. A Light Mech might look something like this (But not exactly; just the general style. How the mech looks is up to you) A Medium Mech might look like this And a Heavy Mech might look like this If you go on Deviant Art and know how to search, you can find a lot of cool stuff. |
