Then they'd be together, happily! Of course, this would mean Dawn and Nicolas would be staying in Tel helping with rebuilding. Unless they were sent under order to the new land the RP will be in, that's where they'd be staying.

The Kitty Cat, Mew!~
New Character Teaser

"There's this girl around these parts who goes around pulling pranks on people. I don't know if she's ever realized it or not, but sometimes she goes a bit overboard with her pranks. She's probably just an attention whore." -A merchant.

"Our reports tell us that this girl was raised in the streets. She's apparently been associating with shady people from time to time, but she's been pretty proficient with the dark arts. So far she's been using her magic to pull pranks, but I hate to imagine what she'll do when she grows older." -A guard.

"That young girl's been running around causing mischief, although she's been living her life without parental guidance. Not a lot of people want to help her, and those who have tried have either given up or fled in terror. I pity the girl... she's like a child who never grew up." -An elderly woman.

In the elven nation, there is a young girl about her late teens who fends for herself in the streets as an orphan. The first time she began to use magic was during her early youth after her encounter with a mysterious mage. While it is unknown what the girl's exact relationship with the man was, the two of them were likely very close and there was speculation that she was under his care for a while. One day, the man disappeared as if he never existed. No one knew where he went and the girl never said a thing about him. It was unknown if she was abandoned without prior warning. Although it is unknown what her true name is, the girl had given herself the name "Amaterasu". Those who have asked have said that the girl claimed that she chose the name because it sounded cool.

Unfortunately, she had a hard time growing up. She was teased when she was younger, mostly due to her status as an orphan. She grew up without the love of a parent and while she was likely raised by the mysterious mage for a period of time, the latter likely did not raise her properly. More or less, she was alone. When it came to surviving in the streets, the girl took jobs that she could conduct such as dish washing although there were claims of her stealing from other people as well. To make matters worse, she was generally neglected by the population and it is unknown if she had any friends.

By the time she reached her preteen, she began to publicly demonstrate her magic through pranks. While she did not mean to cause any harm, she is unable to comprehend the feelings of other people properly. It is unknown if she ever had any regrets on the pranks she pulled. Luckily, she never caused any serious harm or death towards other people, although no one really knows why she went around pulling pranks. Attempts to rehabilitate her have failed. However, those who have analyzed her skills in magic, including experts, have concluded that she was a skilled mage at her age, especially when it came to dark magic. Experts had recommended the authorities to keep an eye on her in case she became too powerful and utilized her magic to seriously harm the population.

As she grew older, more and more people began to fear her although there were those who were willing to associate with her in the name of self-interest, including shady characters. Because she was associating with shady figures from time to time, it showed that she had a rather naive sense of the world. It was hard to determine where she actually slept, but it was likely that she changed it frequently. Her magic had also made her an elusive character. Some of the civilians fear that leaving her running loose would only cause more harm than good. Others speculate that she would continue to stick with light pranks and no serious destruction of property, injury or death would occur. Some of the authorities have drawn the idea of using her instead for military operations, although some experts have argued that she had never actually hurt another person. An important fact to note is that the pranks of the girl have become less and less frequent as time went on. Was the girl actually maturing, or did she get bored? The experts who have been keeping an eye on her believe that the latter was the likely reason. One thing that has been troubling authorities recently is the rumour that she has a scythe in her possession although there is no evidence that she has such a weapon.

Regardless, it is unknown what will become of her one day. Will she be a hero... or a villain?

-Summary of the life of "Amaterasu", according to various reports.

So if the people of the new continent will know most of the happenings of the war in Etella from VotM, would they have heard of members of the party who survived through to the end as well?

Certainly. They would've heard of anyone associated with ending what happened there. Word travels fast although it may be skewed somewhat too. After a story gets passed around enough, it fells farther and farther from the actual truth.

Best to sleep on it.
So we've got Yggdra's "Amaterasu" and her two previous characters, Peras's previous character Dawn potentially making a reappearance, Onime's young and inexperienced fist fighter, Niroth's sound mage Aria (with Nicholas making a cameo in the future, with Dawn), Matt's previous character Darion (since he's not going to stick around Etella anymore) as well as a new "happy-go-lucky" character, Choco with his alchemical double-agent, Kaze's Merc-Turned-Soldier... I miss anyone else?

As for my two characters... I've thrown out teasers alrea - *is punched by Yggdra*

I'd assume that depends on whether or not the miasma reached this continent (so that they knew something was happening) and if Nicholas's play reached the continent (or any other source of info, really). Also a time factor too, I guess. If Sin could answer this, though, I'd appreciate it, heh.

I think the story of what happened at Tel might be fairly well known up to the point where the RP actually started--think about it, if the miasma had spread so far before the heroes rose up, tons of people would have gotten on the first boat outta that hellhole. So it might be interesting to see if this kingdom is having any issues with a massive influx of refugees running from the miasma and not having enough food, space, or jobs for them.

As for what happened at the end, if this is happening a year after Tel, yeah it'd probably be a little distorted, but I bet it'd be fairly widely known too. If they have communication magics that can somewhat simulate our tvs, telephones, or anything like that, they may know even more.

No one could leave once the Miasma appeared so there wouldn't be any refugees from that. Technology to communicate over long distances is strictly Elven, so few would know anything about it from that. But, Tel was destroyed and the Miasma was cleared, so people could very well leave Etella for another continent if they'd lost their homes.

I'm going to try and make it varied like Etella was, topographically at least. As for races, there'll be a few people can choose from. Standard humans, elven and hybrids between the two. You can also be dwarves and orcs. There could very well be more as well; I'm still ironing things out, but I'll be able to devote my time to it soon. I only have one more main character portrait to do before I can kick things in to full gear. Expect a character sheet and some more information when the final character's finished. :)

Sin's Summary of Veil of the Malfested

Everyone started out as a cadet at the Telian academy where they were trained to be soldiers. Once they graduated, a banquet was held that was attack by a Kovalian force lead by Vioar in order to douse Telian morale. A large portion of the graduating cadets were killed in the attack.

The group was sent to a city called Dragarde in order to investigate people with magical prowess being abducted. They found a large building where many "mages" were being drained of their magic energies. That's where they found Noel and the man responsible for the kidnappings; Rhudiger. Vioar arrived again with Elsoka and a big fight broke out with Rhudiger being captured while Vioar and Elsoka escaped.

The group was then sent to Quina for some time off after experiencing what they had in Dragarde. Once they returned to Tel, the city was destroyed by a magical weapon powered by all of the energies that had been taken in Dragarde. The Kingslayer showed up at this point and killed everyone. They woke up in the Night World and after agreeing to dispose of the Kingslayer Atlas and being told who he really was, they were revived and sent back into the world.

Heading first to Parte, the group encountered Vioar for the final time and engaged him and his small group of elite soldiers in battle. This was where the RP ended prematurely.

It doesn't sound like much happened, but it did. Visits from Elise were laced throughout as well as meeting several other people along the way and all of the smaller events in between. I just mentioned the bigger stuff.[/quote

I'll post a list of characters that will appear in the RP along with a short description of their role and a bit about who they are.

Atlantis Benevella
The Elven Queen and matriarch of the city of Othello. Known as a kind, passionate and divine leader, Atlantis goes so far as to participate in larger scale conflicts so as to protect her soldiers from harm as much as possible. She wields the longsword Excalibur and utilizes light-based magic for protection, healing, buffing and attacking. Her presence of the battlefield is enough to boost allied morale though she has never issued an order to attack, only defend.

Mercury Benevella
Atlantis' only daughter and heir to the throne. Like her mother, she is blessed with an abundance of magical talent but she herself is too young to fully utilize it yet and is currently an apprentice. Being bashful, shy and naive makes for a poor leader in her current state but the girl often strives to live up to her mother's reputation. She carries a scepter as a magic catalyst and wields space-based magic in battle allowing her to strike enemies from afar and keep herself out of harm's way. Her presence on the battlefield rallies those around her granting them bonuses to their statistics.

Adrien Voller
A young and enigmatic ruler residing in the city of Mordis. Quiet, reserved and inexperienced leads to a shaky chain of command at best. While few respect Voller as a leader, all fear his wrath as a Necromancer; as commander of the "Ebonscourge", a race of demonic beings said to have come from beneath the ground; and his elite personal guard, the "Jury". Voller fights with firearms and heavy use of Necromancy from his near limitless pool of mental stamina. His presence of the battlefield lowers allied morale and increases the statistics of all nearby Ebonscourge and Jury.

Ferraah Lynnkova
One of the few remaining members of the "Draahvoh", an ancient race of Elves who assimilated themselves with Dragons to extend their lifespan and increase their power significantly. Ferraah is known for her berserker-like rage and complete disregard for ally and enemy lives alike. Remarkably insubordinate and highly unpredictable, her roars can be heard across entire spans of battlefield and her presence is enough to invoke crippling fear and force retreat. Like all Draahvoh, Her body is extremely resilient to damage and she fights with fire-based magic. She uses no weapons but fights with the ferocity of the Dragon race she was born from. Her presence on the battlefield significantly lowers allied morale and lowers the statistics of all allied soldiers in her area.

Kurollo Talgrin
Another member of a race few in number in the current era. Kurollo, or Kuro as he prefers to be called stands at only two feet tall with a very feline appearance. Much like the bulk of his remaining brothers and sisters, Kuro is a skilled thief and adept infiltrator. His quick thinking and quicker words coupled with his almost indistinguishable accent keep him out of trouble and rich in coin while his jovial demeanour and general apathy keep him poor in friends. Kurollo has a small presence on the battlefield but a huge impact with his ability to eliminate or disable priority targets or sabotage important structures and supplies. Unfortunately, his alligence is rubbery at best and he's often difficult to track down to request aid from.

Juno
A succubus known to appear when things seem bleak and prayer starts to become the norm. While her offers often seem too good to be true, it's the foolish man who accepts them unexplored. Juno's magic often comes with a steep price making bartering with her ridiculously risky but, for one so desperate as to hear her out, they often aren't thinking too far into the future to see any negative consequences during the moment. Juno prefers to avoid combat altogether but she is capable of defending herself. With dark magic, cunning movements and little regard for anyone beyond herself, she can be a very dangerous adversary should the circumstances turn her against you.

Gwynavere & Selma
An Elven Hunter and close acquaintance with Atlantis. Gwynavere and Atlantis both grew up together and while Atlantis pursued the more political aspects of the Elven race, Gwynavere was much more in tune with her environment and surroundings and took more toward the spiritual side. As a Druid, Gwynavere is capable of summoning a variety of animals to aid her in various tasks. Selma, a small cat-like creature constantly at her side does most of the talking but often gets defensive and quite carried away when it comes to putting Gwynavere in harms way. Gwynavere fights alongside her familiars with a bow and low-level nature-based magics.

Vioar Graves
A disgraced ex-Kovalian general, Vioar left Etella after the Miasma was removed in order to do more of what he does best: fight. Using only his fists and the earth-manipulation granted to him by his immense physical strength, Vioar is capable of sculpting the topography around him and making small alterations to the battlefield. His ability to rally allies makes his presence a blessing and his complete disregard for his own well-being makes him a reaper to enemies.

There will obviously be more characters, but these are the ones I have fleshed out now and I'd say the more important of the group I have planned and in the works. If you have any comments, questions or anything of the sort, feel free to post them here.

I have some questions and comments, but I wanna be absolutely sure everyone understands what I'm trying to say--you guys know that I'm super nitpicky about writing stuff and how anal-retentive I am about things "making sense." I want to open up with the statement that nothing I say here is meant to be insulting, downputting, or discouraging. I really do honestly want to help make things better if I can.

Atlantis: Looking forward to seeing her in action again, I really liked her character design from what little I saw of it in your old Memoirs RP. However, a few things about your description: How do you plan to avoid making her a Mary-Sue type of character? It kind of seems so far like she's the perfect, beautiful queen who never makes any mistakes in governing her people with absolute benevolence. I mean it's not a bad thing to strive for, but it just seems unrealistic and kind of detracts from the depth her character could have. Next, if she's never issued an order to attack...how do the armies that have her leading them win anything? Going on the offensive doesn't make her mean or bloodthirsty, it's a necessary tactical thing.

Mercury: Sounds neat, looking forward to seeing her. I don't know how the magic works so I'll abstain from anything drawn out, but I think you should keep in mind that manipulating space even with our world's science is a very tricky thing. Magic would obviously bypass some of the difficulty, but I trust you to keep her from being overpowered. You're a fair player and all so I'm not worried so much about it being OP as I am about it just kinda not making sense. I understand you don't like lengthy exposition and nobody knows quantum physics except quantum physicists, but I hope you'll put some thought into it.

Adrien: Thought this guy's name was gonna be Deidrich? Either way he sounds cool, and I'm interested in seeing how he'll keep any forces that aren't undead bound to his will under control if he's so inexperienced that they doubt his leadership ability. Maybe a side plot about someone trying to usurp him from within, hm? The whole "Scourge" thing is very World of Warcraft, though...I was never really a fan of that game's lore, it always seemed like it was trying to just layer things on for the sake of having a lot of shit to sift through. Having the zombies use firearms, though? Sounds awesome, it'll add a real twist to any battles. You mention he has near limitless mental stamina, but does that have an effect on him physically? Does he have to do the "villain sits on his throne and throws minions at the heroes" because it's actually an enforced thing and he can't get up or move around a lot without disrupting his concentration?

Ferraah: Cue Skyrim theme, really feels like you were drawing a lot from the Dovahkiin lore when you made this. I'm sure she'll be neat and I like the idea of a female berserker. Not too fond of the half dragon thing, you know how Kaze and I always butted heads over that, but eh. I really want my character to interact with her at some point, though, because one of his abilities is a Kiai and I think he'd want to learn how she does her roars and stuff from her.

Kurollo: His first name sounds like the name of a guy from Hunter X Hunter, but I don't think you read that and it doesn't really matter. So they're small cat like creatures, maybe something like the Cait Sith from Final Fantasy or the Felynes from Monster Hunter? It seems a wee bit on the cliche side that the short, feline race is the one known as being stealthy, thieving tricksters, so I think you might want to consider fleshing out their society and traits a little more. Other than that it sounds like a decent divergence from the typical Human/Elf/Dwarf/Orc/Halfling pentalogy in so many fantasy works.

Juno: Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy <3

Gwynavere & Selma: Yay, Gwyn's back! I liked her a lot in Tales of Scion! I'm interested in her backstory with Atlantis, though--wouldn't Atlantis have been born into a Royal Family in the capital city or something? Seeing how their friendship formed would be interesting.

Vioar Graves: Oh man, I really want Lee Xin to meet him! One of Lee's primary things in this will be looking towards other characters and trying to learn from them, and I think meeting someone who fights with his hands like Vioar would be great!

Again, I wanna stress I'm not trying to be mean and snooty or look down on anyone's work or anything. I'm really looking forward to this, and you've done a great job so far, Sin!

A big thing to keep in mind that these are just little blurbs. I was just making a statement about each character; there's considerably more to who they are and what they'll do than what's written here.

Atlantis will have her own set backs and downsides to her passive demeanor. How far will people really follow a leader who isn't willing to do what it takes to create peace?

Mercury's space-based magic won't be what you seem to think it is. She can summon small meteors, create vorpal fields that slow opponents or speed up allies, stuff like that. Maybe the "Time" magic from Final Fantasy is a better way to describe it.

Yeah, Deidrich is another thing. Decided to take a side road. I actually had no clue that World of Warcraft had a "scourge" thing, I just wanted a word that put into people's heads that these are demons and monsters. Any similarities are entirely coincidental, believe me. I don't care for World of Warcraft. I don't want to give much away when it comes to how Adrien will function, but I don't think people will be disappointed.

Again, I played very little of Skyrim and know nothing of the lore so again, any similarities are coincidental. I actually despise what Skyrim represents so believe me when I say that nothing I come up with I draw from that. She's also not really a half-dragon perse and her roars aren't attacks of anything like Skyrim. It was just a word I used to try and emphasize her presence.

I don't know what Hunter X Hunter is so I can't have pulled anything form it. It also makes sense for a small, agile creature to naturally fall into a stealthy line of work; it's just how things go. I already have stuff lined up for him and the rest of his kind so don't worry about that. Again, these are all just small exerts.

Juno will be quite similar to how she's been in the past.

Atlantis wasn't necessarily born into a royal family so she and Gwynavere's relationship could've come from being neighbors for all anyone knows. It's all set to be fleshed out as things progress.

I think you may have taken what was put here as considerably more than a grain of salt. This was just intended to be a small reveal of who was coming and what to expect. I had no intention of posting the whole she-bang and I won't be doing that until the circumstances call for it within the RP itself. :)

Yeah, I sort of made some speculations of my own based on what you'd put down, so I probably jumped the gun a lot with my assumptions. Your explanations have waylaid a lot of my concerns though, so I look forward to seeing what else is in store. Thanks!

Edit: That said, whenever I see a similarity with things you do and you mention you haven't read it or don't know much about it, I can't help but think it might actually behoove you to look into it a little bit. One of my favorite things to do when I write is to go to TVtropes or a relevant Wiki page and see all the different ways other authors have done it, even if the work is regarded as less than stellar. That way I have tons of reference material to draw from and, by learning what's already been done, I can come up with things that haven't a little bit easier.

Also for the record: Nicolas casts Darion as a girl in at least one or two plays just to screw with him a little, but keeps the character fairly consistent.

I'm considering using another character along with Darion, depending on how I feel when the RP starts. Someone new and probably a little more happy-go-lucky to counter Darion's dourness so it's not all doom and gloom when I post.

Lee will be more than enough happy go lucky to offset Darion's gloom, I think. He'll also beg Darion to teach him since Darion was a fighter (albeit enhancing his moves with magic) too, so they'll be around each other often enough that they can serve as a duo dynamic.
