I'm out of title ideas
Name: Visil Y. Ahlberg
Age: 32
Gender: Male

Appearance: Visil is a fairly short man, standing at a mere 5'3”, though with a powerful build. His eyes are gray, and his short hair appears to have gone prematurely white.

He wears light armor over largely unremarkable clothing, and covers it all with a large cloak, which frequently conceals everything almost everything but his head. The clothing, cloak, and armor are all a uniform black, covered in a web of silver lines. The lines constantly shift in unison, only rarely forming any kind of discernible pattern.

Background: Visil came from a fairly ordinary background. A common boy from an average family, he was raised on tales of legendary heroes, destined quests, epic adventures, the usual assortment. Like so many other youths, in his teens he set out in hopes of emulating the legends. However, unlike most others, he was not seeking to be like the heroes.

After all, sure, the heroes won in the end, got a fancy glowy sword, and maybe got to shack up with a princess or turned out to be secret royalty or something, but did they get an elaborate fortress of doom? Did they get minions? Did they have a legitimate shot at all sorts of grand things like godhood or immortality or world conquest? No. No they did not. And on top of all that, so much of the time the dark lords were wizened old sorcerers who had, it appeared, been at it for decades before some lucky farm kid ended it all, so it was clearly possible to make a long-term thing out of it.

Unfortunately, while the old tales provided fairly solid guidelines as to how a hero went about things, they were largely silent on the matter of how exactly one became an evil overlord. He wandered, doing mercenary work, and occasionally latching onto the odd cult, only to find that the ones with actual designs on summoning ancient horrors and such tended to get smacked down without accomplishing much. He stubbornly kept to his course, however, and his travel did give him experience, and a fair bit of knowledge of the world's darker powers.

In particular, he learned of one specific dark power. The World Eater, an ancient, all-devouring shadow imprisoned in ages past. In time, he was able to uncover its precise location, break the failing seal, and forge a pact with the creature. Unfortunately, centuries of languishing in its prison had left it severely diminished, far from the deific levels of might lore had attributed to it. To rectify this, Visil sought for a way to nourish and restore it. Upon hearing of the Race of Yggdrasil, he decided that would serve perfectly. A labyrinth of that size would have no shortage of creatures for the shadow to feast upon, and who would object to that?

Equipment: Visil wears relatively light metal armor, a breastplate, shoulder pads, greaves, and gauntlets. The last two are the sturdiest, as in addition to armor they serve as his weapons, along with his cloak, the transfigured form of the World Eater.

Role/Specialty: Shadowbinder. Visil is capable of binding enemies in all possible ways, allowing him, with luck, to leave them incapable of doing anything but sitting there and being killed. In addition, his armor and limited self-healing ability afford him a degree of durability in combat. However, he is somewhat lacking in direct offensive ability, and his armor and healing capabilities can only do so much to sustain him if he is targeted by multiple unbound enemies at once.

Level: 5/70
Abilities:

  • There Is No Escape/Bind/1: Shadowy tendrils emerge from Visil's cloak, attempting to wrap around the target's legs, or the closest equivalent. If they manage to get a firm hold on the target, they break off and quickly solidify into a firm binding. Roll 1d20: Success 10/15/20
  • Weapons Will Not Save You/Bind/1: As above, but the tendrils attempt to bind the target's arms or equivalent limbs instead. Roll 1d20: Success 3/7/13
  • Suffer In Silence/Bind/1: The tendrils attempt to wrap around the target's head, binding their mouth closed and obscuring their sight. Roll 1d20: Success 2/6/10
  • Lifedrinker/Passive/2: The World Eater empowers Visil's blows, and with every one that strikes true, it consumes a small portion of the target's energy, some of which it shares with its host. With each hit, Visil regains health equivalent to roughly 10% of the damage he inflicts.

    • Level 2: Roughly 20% of the damage dealt is now converted to healing.
