MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO

Do not be afraid. You approach, with a slow, steady step. Reach your hand out. You feel a resistance - you push, and the rough stone bricks push back at you. You blink twice in surprise, and try again. There is no mistaking the texture, you think, while your eyes close and inhale. The brick wall in front of you is so very real. But how did it get there? Just yesterday lay an open field of grass... Glancing upwards, you see the wall rise high. It must be about three or four men tall. High enough that even climbing a tree wouldn't let you see over it. And as far as you glance, the wall seems to stretch on, and on, and on. With a sigh, you take a step back. And again, and again. You glance and squint - something black seems to poke past what appears to be crenelations on the wall. You take a step back again - and the point stretches higher. You take another step back, and gasp in surprise, as another point seems to appear. You sprint backwards a few steps more. And more, and more, and more. Soon, you must be over a hundred steps away, and you stand in awe at something that is much, much more than a wall. What you thought must be a wall no more than half an arm's length thick seemed to stretch far further, judging from its thick, long battlements. Far away, you can only barely see the wall end in a watch tower - only for the wall to continue behind the tower, stretching into the distance. But it is behind this wall and its battlements that grab your attention. A second wall stands, twice as high as the first. Battlements crown the top of the wall, and arrow slits mark the walls like grazed skin. And like grazed skin, something appears to be seeping out... But behind even the inner wall stood at least half a dozen towers that must have been as many floors high. You can't quite count them, however, since central to all of them stands one more tower, stretching above the others like a father looming over his children. You stand transfixed, in silent observance... Do not be afraid. You almost shout in surprise, while the thought pushes itself into your head. What was that? Where did it come from? You have nothing to fear. You are safe. A flash of light radiates from the wall like the sun, and you cannot help but blink. You glance in surprise once more. For where once was the plain wall, now lay two large guard towers and a heavy iron gate. And you can tell this is no dream. I will keep you safe. The voice seems to echo through your bones. Confident. Chilling. It knows something - but you know not what. Who is it? What is it? Inside... you will find what you wish for. In this castle you see in front of you, you shall find things you have never seen before... or perhaps. Maybe it's exactly what you must see. You seek power. Power to destroy all who oppose you. Power to scorch your name into the world, make your mark on the world with a blazing trail. I can see that.... I can see you. I can give you that power. Power to break free of that mortal coil that you fear so. The cold iron gates open. You take a step forth. Legends tell of a castle that has appeared, through history, to a select few people. This castle calls you... calls you, motivated by desire, to enter. They say its interior transforms for each person - their fears and their dreams echo through the castle's cold, stone walls. Your character is one of these chosen who, living their lives, wherever, whenever that may be, come across this fated castle. They enter, exploring the castle... learning more about their own desires, while they wonder, where exactly are they? Keep will be a short, single-arc, science-fantasy RP, based upon your own characters and their sense of exploration. We are on Earth, but it is timeless - characters can meet the castle anywhere from the ancient past to the far-off future. Weapons and magic will be each provided in time (as well as training, should you wish), but I will not make combat a primary focus (unless requested/it seems a good idea for the character). Interested? Comments, please ~ |

With the other three RPs (...Two and a half? Two?) having a good focus on fights, I think this might be a refreshing change of pace. And since we're allowed any the variety of any time zone we want, I don't think there'd be much of a want for the type of characters. Only problem I could see with that is maybe people not knowing how to interact with others in this type of scenario, with too many diverse characters, or something. Also the fiasco of dealing with character sheets, if there's so many different things that we need to consider. For example, if someone wanted to go in-depth with their skills, like with what we have in Gryphon Wing and From Ashes. ...Oh, and also the frequency in which you're here, which doesn't seem to be as often, to be frank. Since summer's coming up, I'm guessing it might not be a problem, though? I'm guessing this is a mystery RP too, and, considering all I've ever RP'd was... Fantasy, semi-fantasy, all of that jazz, I'd be interested in joining. Not saying much, of course, since I seem to be joining everything in here, haha. But, like I said, a definite different focus than what we have here at the moment, and I think the concept is intriguing enough. Edited by Person A, May 16, 2014, 2:32 pm.

Let's just say the castle can change in ways to best promote meaningful interaction. It should be fine enough. The... sheets might be complicated, yeah. But note that since there's not going to be a ridiculously huge combat focus, I don't mind people winging combat skills and the like. There's no real competition for power level. I'll be around ;~; Anything in particular you'll want to know more about? The RP has two main focuses. One is the mystery of the keep - why it exists, what it really is, and how it affects the characters. The second (and probably the main one) are the personal challenges the characters face in the keep during their exploration, and while they meet other characters. |

What do you mean? It'll be character based, in that the character's personalities and motivations will be the driving part of the story. What do you mean by psychological, though? |

Totally a good thing that I thought this idea up first. Totally. Yep. Yup. |
