Worlds Beyond Updated version of "Heat of the Flame" from a few months back. 2999 C.E. In the aftermath of a thousand struggles, the peoples of the world have finally been brought together under the Earth Federation. The culmination of a history of extremes, breakthroughts such as the warpdrive allow our race to explore the darkness of space, and mankind has touched a hundred stars in the skies, and settled a dozen out of those; it's a golden age of peace and prosperity without equal, in which the visions for technological advancment and social progress that our ancestors had have been accomplished, and all their superficial goals achieved. However, from the stars beyond our own, others have been watching with amazement and fear, and soon humanity will be engulfed in a conflict which shall determine not only its future as a galactic civilization but also the very survival of the species as a whole... More Info... We were pleasantly surprised to discover that the galaxy more suitable for human settlement initially expected, and combined with the growing population of our own homeworld, the Earth Federation began considerable efforts to start colonizing worlds beyond. As of the present date there are almost thirty systems settled with at least a couple hundred million humans each, and seventy more either explored or with limited human presence. Our story starts in 'EFW-18 Indomitable', a relatively isolated Earth Federation colony with a population of 400 000 000, which finds itself under the attack of a relentless and merciless enemy come from beyond the darkness of space. Here we would assume the role of our characters, a group of citizens from diverse backgrounds, which must initially band together to survive; eventually our group would grow in strenght through various means, perhaps they would aquire a starship of some sort (a very powerful one), and finally be able to confront the enemy directly and involve themselves in a struggle of truly galactic proportions. Of course, there would be mechs, and you are able to design them from scratch. Wouldn't be as fun otherwise. Though you can expect them only after you get to the "seize a starship" part of the story. Being machines, you'd expect them being rather technical, with stats and everything. From the top of my head: different frame sizes, propulsion drives, sensors, armor and weapons in three categories (beams, missiles, and mass drivers). If I go through this, I might need some help. Need someone who's a little more into sci-fi and all that, for details. |
