Lord of the Octoroks, all hail!

Path of Shadows As the sun rises in the horizon, a pillar of smoke announces to the realm the tragedy of the royal family's demise. The most powerful lords begin to plot against each other, and before long, the entire country is involved in the most devastating sucession war anyone can remember. With the burden of having failed their most ancestral purpose, the guardians shadows of the realm find themselves in the verge of extinction. But when one of them finds the ancient bloodline could have survived, even if in the form of a bastard child lost somewhere in a distant city half across the world, it's the beginning of a fantastic adventure to find this true king and help him reclaim what is rightfully his. --- In this story you will control a member of the Shadowfolk, a secret order whose most ancestral purpose is to protect and serve the realm. They specialize in unorthodox warfare - they work using espionage, sabotage, infiltration, assassination, and open combat in certain situations. They are a very isolated society, existing almost exclusively within fortressess hidden across the realm's wilderness, known as Shadow Castles. They mostly work as normal villages, except that all the children are trained to fulfill the most ancestral purpose of their race. This is mostly a story about adventure, your characters will be constantly moving across the world in their search for the child who happens to be the rightful heir to the throne, and the enemies encountered will range from the usual fantastic creatures to the other claimants as well as foreign enemies. One of the twists is that your characters will all be Shadowfolk, so this means they were most likely raised together since early childhood in one of the Shadow Castles - this can potentially provide some interesting dynamics. BTW I will eventually put all my RP ideas in a poll, the interest rating will be a tiebreaker. |

So this is basically what would happen if the Shiekah of Zelda had a societal structure like the ninja village system of Naruto? I'm...not sure what to think. |

From what I can tell, it sounds alright. Don't know how well sneakiness and/or intrigue would work in this RP community, though. Also, relationship dynamics are neat. Aside from that, give us more detail, if you would. Thaaaaaat's a nice fellow. |

Do you think it would work better without the Shadow Castles? If the Shadowfolk was a more open-minded organization that accepted people from everywhere. |

An elite organization can't be openly accepting or else it's no longer elite. Give more info on the setting, the abilities of these ninjas, and other stuff. |

It's not particularly stealthy, really. Actually it just means you get to be acrobatic and use cool weapons. |

So I must ask. Dark Magic? Or is this strictly Ninja stuff? |

There is magic, all the Shadowfolk are suppossed to be able to master magic to a degree. They are elite, in the context this means they are supposed to be expert warriors, rogues, and spellcasters at the same time- this description, from Morrowind's Nightblade Class, describes them the best: "Spellcasters who use their magics to enhance mobility, concealment, and stealthy close combat*. They have a sinister reputation, since many nightblades are thieves, enforcers, assassins, or covert agents." *stealthy close combat doesnt mean being stealthy all the time and backstabbing/throatcutting from the shadows, not necessarily, but rather mastery of weapons such as throwing knives, daggers, short swords, eastern blades, etc. to use in open combat. |
