The idea is fairly simple if you ask me. I've been wanting to make an RP for a while and since a while back.

The idea of this RP (which is currently unnamed) is to be as open ended as possible while still retaining some semblance of order. I will be as lax as possible with plot integration, however member created plot must be proposed to me or anyone I choose as a mod via PM. Hopefully this will prevent cases of "mod holds your hand"itis, with me/mods of the RP acting as both central figures and back up figures to plot progression. This is as much a curiosity to see "What kind of universe can we come up with" as it is a writing venture.

Obviously though, there needs to be some basic foundation for how this RP's laws and physics are set up as well as a basic community topic where I can build up a backbone universe from which the plot will kick up. However once this is all laid down I'll try to add in ideas from various RP'ers. Just keep in mind the very obvious truth that as a story is written it develops its own norms and rules and its own flowing plot. As the story progresses I'll tighten up on what content can be introduced to the plot simply because it must still be logical. However in all likelihood I will try to be accommodating, suggesting changes to ideas to make them fit into the puzzle rather than throwing away the pieces.

Being human, I have my own ideas of what I'd like to see. One of these things is some kind of coexistence of magic and technology and (if magic is willingly adopted by people interested) then we'll have to talk about what role it plays in the said universe.

I'm sort of getting ahead of myself though. I want to know if people would be interested in not only joining this RP but also willingly contributing ideas, knowing full well that the idea is pretty unstable and will encounter a unique set of issues that a normal RP might not.

In Hyrulean Soul we did something like that, I remember NTNP even made topics where people would go roleplay in his own questline (which was separate from the main one). I remember it involved clearing a house of skultullas or something like that. Something similar could be worked out?

Also I think it would be benefitial if we had stats, but if you want this to be open ended, then you need to have more than the usual Str, Def, Int, Spd, etc. You need to have stats that are not related to combat, liek Charisma and stuff. Or you could use the D&D stats:
Strength
Dexterity
Constitution
Intelligence
Wisdom
Charisma

Also you need something to balance spells and stuff. Again, NTNP had something far along with the D&D based thing he was going to do. I thibnk he had abilities planned and stuff. You should PM him.

@BO: Actually we were dealing with finding children who had been taken by the skulltula while dealing with Alba wandering around trying to reclaim his childhood belongings.

@Stats: I guess the question is how many stats do you want to keep track of and what will the effects of the stats be? Like for example, if you intend to use equipment and stats (like what Lotus is doing) then having stats makes a lot of sense. Secondly, if you intend to make spells have certain requirements it could also be helpful as well. Thirdly, the question also needs to arise if you intend to use HP, MP and/or Stamina included in the setting. If you do, stats can provide a wonderful mechanical system to keep balance. If you include stats just to have stats though, it is downright useless.

I don't care for HP/MP in the slightest since they just suck out any feeling of story to me and turn the RP into more of a game. I'm more open to general indicators and other numeric stats. In reality I don't care for stats at all but if it were up to me I would keep them as general indicators rather than exact tools. With all this said, I acknowledge that the prevalence of stats is something which came about in my absence so I'm heavily biased against them and I was against them as they started popping up on our older sites. If enough people want them then so be it since as I've said before, it's to be a construction of everyone's design.

The only thing I fear for is that it'll become a number crunching, equipment whoring game with story taking a backseat.

They can be just very general indicators
