Katharina noticed that the Typhlosion was now feeling a bit fatigued. However, it did not give up just yet. The Pokemon quickly got underneath her Garchomp and lets loose an Eruption attack. Garchomp was hit from below by the Typhlosion's quick Eruption attack. Since his Typhlosion has been badly weakened though, it did not do as much damage as it would had the Typhlosion been at full health. This trainer made a smart move, but this also gave Katharina an opening. "I have you now! Garchomp, use Dragon Rush!" Katharina ordered. Garchomp's two appendages on its head began to glow light blue. Then suddenly, a light blue aura in the shape of a dragon surrounded Garchomp. Very soon after that, Garchomp dove down to slam the Typhlosion with a high speed force.

Katharina's Battle

After launching the Eruption the Typhlosion was breathing heavily as it awaited an order. The trainer had expected more from the attack, but he didn't realize how injured Typhlosion already was. Katharina took advantage of Typhlosion's weakened state, and ordered a powerful counter attack. Taking a direct chest attack Typhlosion collapsed. It struggled to its feet, but collapsed again almost instantly.

Taking a step forward the referee raised a green flag. "Typhlpsion is unable to battle. Katharina is victorious." The second official scribbled furiously on his clipboard. Katharina and her opponent would never know the details of his report, but they'd be able to make generalization of their performance if either of them made it to the Semi-finals.

The defeated trainer looked down in shame. Rubbing his eyes he was probably wiping away tears before they formed. Holding out his pokeball he returned Typhlosion. "You did you best, bud. There's always next year."

The battle had attracted two or three spectators, probably stopping to admire Katharina's rare Pokemon, and both trainers could hear clapping as the battle finished. This was hardly a taste of the roars they would hear in the Stadium during the Semi-finals, but it was a decent appetizer.

With Garchomp's attack, the Typhlosion was unable to battle as it had now fainted. Garchomp had now descended onto the ground, back to where its starting position was. "We did it, Garchomp. Now take a nice break." She spoke to her partner. Garchomp made a growl as it turned to her partner before Katharina took out the Pokeball and had Garchomp return into it. Katharina could notice that there was clapping from the spectators. The audience must have enjoyed the battle displayed by the two combatants. Katharina had noticed that her opponent was rather disappointed that he had lost. However, Katharina had still enjoyed the battle and she was impressed with the teamwork between her opponent and his Typhlosion. She approached the trainer and said, "That was a good battle. I am impressed with the display of teamwork that you and your partner had shown today." She complimented before extending a hand to the trainer.

Begrudgingly the trainer took Katharina's hand. Sure, it was a fun battle, but it would have been better if he had won. Looking Katharina in the eyes the trainer smiled and buried the hatchet. "Thanks. You did good, too. I hope you make it to the finals. I'd go home happy knowing I lost to the champion!" As Katharina finished her conversation with her opponent she'd here two trainers called to the court she was on. Probably a good sign that she should clear out soon.

With one match out of the way Katharina only had two battles left for the day. The final scores would be tallied up during the evening, and posted on a large screen in the Pokemon Center's lobby at 8:00.

((Ygg, if you want to do your other two Screening battles lemme know. I don't mind.))

Aaron smiled when his attack hit, but then the pokemon were separated by a decent distance. He didn't know if he would have time to use another Swords Dance to power Pinsir up, so instead he waited. The kid called out for Stone Edge and Aaron cursed quietly so the impressionable youth wouldn't hear him. Quickly, Aaron had an idea and called out to Pinsir, "Bruce! Use Stone Edge too but don't shoot yet! Keep them defensive and charge!" The Pinsir also began to glow and a decent amount of rocks in front of it appeared to make a sort of wall. The Pinsir then charged and as the stones impacted with the others they would crumble to dust. By the time Pinsir about made it to the Rhyhorn, most of the wall had crumbled and a few of the stones hit Pinsir for some sizable damage, but momentum and adrenaline kept Pinsir moving forward until he was next to the Rhyhorn, "Alright, Guillotine him!!" Aaron yelled across the stadium to make sure the command was heard. The Pinsir's pincers opened widely as they began to glow a bright white. Still charging, the Pinsir would then attempt to close the pincers on the Rhyhorn's head. If successful, the Pinsir would immediately apply tremendous pressure to the attack and go for an instant knock out.

Aaron's Battle

A visual sweat drop formed on the boy as Aaron called for a Stone Edge of his own. Using the attack defensively, it was an amazing idea. In between the clash of stone, scribbling from the League Official could be heard, and his face was plastered with a happy smile; a good omen for Aaron. During the course of the attack Pinsir has closed the distance between the two. It has sustained a few direct hits, but its will power kept it from stopping. With Pinsir coming within range to use such a powerful attack the boy felt the best counter was an equally powerful attack. "Quick! Charge and use Drill Horn!" Lowering its body and then thrusting its head forward, Ryhorn's attack carried the full weight of its body.

The two trainers shook hands before they would both hear two trainers being called to the court they were in. With that, Katharina would take her leave and probably the same with the other trainer. Glaceon popped out of her Pokeball and snuggled Katharina's feet. Katharina expressed a smile before she bent down and picked Glaceon up. "Well, we've won our first battle. We have two more battles left for the screening process."

"Glaceeeeon!" Her Pokemon replied.

Both Katharina and Glaceon would now wait until they were to be called up for their next battle.

Katharina's Second Battle

After nearly twenty minutes of waiting Katharina's name was again called on the loud speaker. The Castelia trainer was this time called to court seventeen. Her opponent arrived shortly after, and she appeared to be a veteran trainer, much like Katharina. After the two picked their corners and exchanged words the referee flipped the coin, and prompted Katharina to pick her Pokemon first.

Twenty minutes later, Katharina was called to court seventeen. She and Glaceon proceeded to the court and went through the same process as last time. Katharina proceeded to the green corner, and shortly afterwards, another trainer had entered the court. This trainer was a female this time and she seemed more capable than the previous trainer. Katharina once again recalled her Glaceon. After the referee flipped the coin, Katharina was chosen to be the first to send out her Pokemon. Katharina took out a Pokeball and threw it forward towards the field. The ball opened up and a blue light spilled out of the ball, taking a form. With the light faded away, an Eelektross had made its appearance.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEElektrosssssssssssssssss!" Her Pokemon shouted.

Katharina's Second Battle

After taking the red position the opponent wished Katharina the best of luck as she awaited her to field her Pokemon. An Elektross, eh? I think I know who to use. Reaching into her bag the trainer produced a great ball, and tossed it into the court. IN a flash of light an Electivire appeared, banging its arms against its chest while letting out a battle cry.

"Electivire, don't get close to its mouth! That's how it traps opponents!" The trainer called out to her Pokemon. She knew lightning attacks wouldn't be as powerful, so she'd avoid most of those. "Start off with a Double Team!"

Rushing forward the electric Pokemon split into two a few feet from Electross. One panned left while the other cut around to its right.

For now Aaron blocked out the sound of scribbling and the judges smile, any sounds of spectators cheering was also pushed out. At this time, all of Aaron's attention was on the battle at hand and this was a critical moment. Both pokemon had some of their strongest moves out and ready to strike at this point, and the victor would be decided essentially by who hit first. Adrenaline powered Aaron's sense and time seemed to slow as he quickly assessed the situation and tried to figure out how he could win in this situation, "Rhyhorns have small legs and can't turn well, would a side dodge work? Probably not, Bruce is also charging and direction turns are hard to utilize. That Rhyhorn is charging with his head low and horn up so trying to sweep under won't do much... but maybe..." Aaron's eyes lit up as he had another idea, "Bruce jump!" The Pinsir seemed to understand Aaron's idea as it utilized the fact the Rhyhorn's head was aimed low so couldn't see much and practically dove towards the Rhyhorn. Aaron watched and hoped that the jump would evade the horn and still provide Pinsir the opportunity to hit it's back and deliver the finishing blow.

Her opponent sent out an Electivire. The Electivire used Double Team, where there were now two Electivire's. Katharina knew which move to use to counter her opponent's move. "Eelektross, use Flamethrower to find the real Electivire!" Katharina commanded.

"EEEEEEEEElektrossssssssss!" Katharina's Eelektross quickly shifted its head towards the right Electivire and lets loose a stream of fire, quickly afterwards, it would quickly shift its head towards the left Electivire and have the steam of fire engulf that Electivire as well. Of course, since Electivire was advancing towards Eelektross, this would make Flamethrower more likely to hit the targets.

Aaron's Battle

Rhyhorn couldn't see much with its eyes on the ground, but its trainer could see everything. Immediately after Aaron gave the order to jump the opponent gave the same command. Leaping head first the Horn Drill barely missed Pinsir, and with its backside opposed Pinsir caught Rhyhorn in a Guillotine before landing on the ground behind him. The move could have split a Groudon in two. After releasing Rhyhorn from the attack, the pokemon collpased to the ground, defeated.

"Rhyhorn is unable to battle. Pinsir is victorious."

Katharina's Battle

As Electross turned to bathe one of the Electivires in fire it left its other side completely exposed. There was a fifty fifty chance she had chose right, but this wasn't the case. Once the fire made contact with the first Electivire it vanished, and the the move went on to hit the fence. The second one was already closing the distance on Electross. "Use Brick Break!"

"Crash Bashthim!"

Alright! I'm up! Crash grinned and cheered once more for Aaron before he left, heading straight for the field where he would be battling. And after he finished signing in for the battle he found his place on the green side. He nodded at the other trainer. "Let's make this good, yeah? Try not to lose too fast!" He laughed at his own joke. "Just kidding, but seriously, let's make this fight good."

"Uh...alright," the other trainer said, unsure of what else to say. The coin toss was then made and Crash's opponent was given the clear to choose his Pokemon. "I guess I'm first...." He tossed a Pokeball into the arena. "Boner! Go!" A Cubone appeared in a flash of light.

"Haha! Boner! What a nickname!" Crash laughed uproariously, holding both hands to his sides, as the other trainer's face turned beet red. "Hey, man," he shouted, "shut up! My friend nicknamed him!" Crash just continued laughing, only coming to a stop after a minute or two. "Ah...ah...I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." he gasped, quite out of breath. He straightened up and took a lungful of air. "Phew, that was just too good.... Uh, anyway, let's do this! Toxin! Show Boner what you're made of!"

The Crobat straightened up and also took a deep breath. Obviously he had understood just what was so funny. Either that or he had simply been laughing along for the hell of it.

"Bat! Crobat!"

Toxin launched himself off Crash's shoulders, making the trainer stumble, and he took to the air. "Right," Crash said, regaining his balance. "Toxin! Use Confuse Ray!"

"Baaaaaaat!"

Toxin launched a beam of energy which honed in on the opponent's Cubone. If he was hit by this attack he would end up confused for a short time.

When the official called out the result of the battle, all tension in Aaron's body visibly left as he relaxed his muscles and in celebration he fist pumped in the air. He then became aware of his surroundings once again and saw that one official was writing a lot on his clipboard. He was slightly curious about his report of the battle but he ignored it for now and moved across the field over to his Pinsir and his opponent. At this point he had just remembered his Combee was also watching the fight and although normally playful in nature had stayed silent and watchful during the match and now also seemed quite happy with the victory. He approached the kid with a big smile on his face and extended his hand to shake, "Hey man, that was a great battle, you had me thinking and sweating a lot with that Rhyhorn of yours! You've got a great future ahead of you if you're this good at this age man!" After whatever conversation that went on between the two, Aaron would turn and talk to his Pinsir then, "Great job Bruce, you looked great out there! Chill out in your pokeball for awhile, you deserved it man!" He patted the Pinsir's back as he returned it to the pokeball and would leave the court and begin moving towards court #2 to see if Coop was still battling.

Crash's Battle

"Bonemerang!" The trainer called out as he threw his club. The orphan Pokemon managed to get the attack off before the Confuse Ray hit him. With swirly eyes the confused Pokemon began stumbling about. Whether or not the Bonemerang made contact it would still return, but Cubone was unable to catch it. The bone struck Cubone in the chest, knocking his breath away.

"Snap out of it, Cubone!" The trainer called out to his Pokemon. "Use Rage! Use Rage!"

Cooper's Battle

Cooper's Rapidash was panting heavily. It's legs were bruised, and it was clear it had taken one to many hits. The opponent's Kingler didn't look better, and the two Pokemon were staring each other down. Suddenly the crab let out a cough, and fell to its side. "Kingler is unable to battle. Rapidash is victorious."

Returning his pokemon Cooper thanked it for a wonderful performance. The defeated trainer quickly collected his Pokemon and left as quickly and quietly as possible. He must of been ashamed. As Cooper was heading for the exit he noticed Aaron. "Hey!" He called out as he moved to speaking distance. "How'd you're battle go?"

Aaron had his usual big grin across his face, "I did pretty well! In my Pinsir against this kids Rhyhorn I had to get a bit clever to avoid some rock attacks, but I powered through it and I saw one of the officials with a grin on and the other was writing down something quickly. I don't know what that means, but I hope its good! How did your fight go man? I saw you won so that's awesome!" Aaron put his hand up, ready to give a high five.

"Alright Toxin, dodge then use Hypnosis while he's still confused!"

"Bat. Crooooobat!"

Toxin darted to the left, easily evading the thrown bone with his incredible agility, then, in an instant, he had closed the distance between the two and let loose a series of psychic waves which would have the effect of putting Boner to sleep if they connected.

The confused Cubone was unable to snap to its sense as Crobat launched its barrage of psychic waves. The trainer repeatedly called out for his Pokemon to move, but it wasn't enough to snap it back to its sense. Taking a direct hit from Hypnosis, Cubone's eyes shut as it passed out on the ground.

"No!" Wake up!"

Cooper

"Awesome, I knew you'd win!" Cooper said in response, taking the high five in the process. "My fight was pretty close. My oppenent had they type advantage, but Rapidash was able to land a Mega Horn that basically won me the battle. I'm think I'm going to use Rapidash when I face you in the finals."

Somehow, the move had ended up hitting the fence, which is not good for Katharina. The second Electivire was approaching, so Katharina ordered, "Quick, jump up and then use Brick Break on Electivire!" Eelektross quickly jumped up, with its arm glowing a white light, it would attempt to have its Brick Break arm clash with Electivire's Brick Break arm, but if there was an opening, it would instead land its attack on Electivire's head.

Aaron smirked at Coop, "You cocky bastard. Alrighty then, I'll hold you too that in the finals then man! Don't disappoint me now and not make it." Aaron cleared his throat a bit and then got into a bit more of a serious tone, But seriously, don't worry about type advantages too much man. They only matter if you let them matter. I mean, look at my team, the most common types out there are what beat it rather easily, yet I pushed through and here I'm standing now!" Aaron had donned his big goofy grin again, "Well, lets just chill for awhile now, I'm a bit tired from that first match." He began looking around for an empty bench or place to sit and eventually found one and collapsed into it so that he could relax for at least a few minutes.

Katharina's Battle

Sparks flew as the attacks of the two Electric Pokemon collided. As the two Pokemon pushed against each other it created a miniature explosion, sending the Pokemon flying to opposite ends of the court. It seemed as though the two colliding attacks were equal in strength, and the explosion carried the power of both attacks. In the green corner the bruised Electivire struggled back to its feet.

"Use flash!" The trainer called out as the Pokemon emitted a blinding light. In the confusion the move likely brought the Electivire ran forward at it's hampered speed. One fist was ready to swing while its cheeks were pulsating with electricity.

Crash's Battle

Toxin landed a direct hit on Cubone, throwing the unconscious Pokemon to its trainer's feet in the process. The battle may have been short lived, but Crash displayed exceptional strategy, earning a nod of approval from the League Official.

"Cubone is unable to battle. Crobat is victorious!"

Cooper

"Right." Cooper said with a nod as Aaron reassured him that no battle is predetermined by type advantage. Taking a seat next to Aaron the trainer looked into the court opposite of their position. Vince was fighting. Nudging Aaron with his elbow the trainer pointed into the battle before them. "Front row seats."

Behind the chainlink fence a powerful Absol was doing circles around a Nidoqueen. It was almost as if he was just trying to show off his Pokemon to the judge, and all the while he wore that cocky grin of his. As the battle escalated, and it was painfully obvious who the victor would be, Absol delivered a powerful Night Slash, knocking the poison Pokemon to the ground.

"He's improved." Cooper said under his breath. "I'm sure one of us will have to face him in the finals."

"Yeah, he is pretty good I guess. I'm all for enjoying battles and stuff, but toying with an opponent is just annoying in my opinion," Aaron shrugged as he spoke. Too tired to fly anymore, Aaron's Combee had landed upside down on his head so it wouldn't fall over and began to sleep. Aaron didn't seem to take much notice, but pulled the Combee off of his head and held her in his arms as he continued to speak, "If one of us have to face him, I have a feeling you'd have an easier time than me. You've fought him before and know sort of what to expect. I'd be going in rather blind to how he battles."

With the miniature explosion occurring, Electivire was not the only Pokemon that got bruised. Eelektross too did not look like he was in a good shape. Eelektross got back to its feet, just before Electivire used Flash. The bright light startled Eelektross, where the Pokemon reacted by closing its eyes and shaking its head twice. "Eelektross, get ready! Electivire is coming!" Katharina had an idea with Eelektross against Electivire, but this would require Electivire to get close enough. Of course, Eelektross would have to be faster at acting first. Even with the temporary distraction, Eelektross quickly eased itself and opened its eyes as it prepared for another attack.

Once Electivire was close enough, as in, Electivire itself was close to a range where it could hit Eelektross, Katharina would then order, "Now Eelektross! Use Crunch on Electivire's head!" Eelektross would quickly leap forward, aiming to bite Electivire on the head. However, Eelektross was also prepared in case Electivire was either going to dodge or attack him anyway.
