The magic system you make depends what kind of setting you want to create. Is magic ubiquitous or rare? Also, what kind of play style are you going for? I'm not sure what's the norm for this RP group. Will the characters travel in one big party, or will there be a lot of solo action? In Dungeons and Dragons, for instance, wizards are fragile yet powerful, but the physical powerhouses in the party help defend them. If magic users are intended to solo anything, they need to be quick-casting and flexible. If you want them to rely on teamwork, give them weaknesses that the rest of the group can cover. |
