A Zatch Bell RP in my mind offers something unique in comparison to the normal RP. Simply because the characters are all very human, meaning offensive capability is disproportionate to defensive ability. In other words, it requires RP'ers to think because slip ups are costly. -- For those of you who don't know what Zatch Bell is. One hundred Mamodo go to Earth every 1,000 years to battle to be the king of the Mamodo world. Each Mamodo needs a human partner in order to use his or her spell book, a book that seals the powers of the Mamodo. When read aloud, the spells are cast by the Mamodo producing many effects. If the spell book is burned, the Mamodo is forced to return to the Mamodo world, and they lose all claim to the position of the Mamodo king. While the spells in each book typically are different for each Mamodo, there are Mamodo that share spells, like Zatch Bell and his evil twin brother, Zeno Bell. The human and their Mamodo gain these spells through experience and hard work. The last Mamodo standing without their book burnt is the new Mamodo king. - From wikipedia. Typically, the goal of a fight is to either kill the human with the book, kill the mamodo, or as the article says, burn the book. -- A Mamodo is basically a demon child. While most take on the appearance of children or teenagers, there are almost no limits to the form a mamodo can take. Some are robots, others are talking puppets or machines, still others are demonic dogs and reptilian monsters. Also, Mamodo children start off with typically average physical and athletic ability for any human their size and weight. That is, they will typically be as strong as physically fit children. However as they learn more spells and train, they will train faster and exceed the physical capabilities of a normal human. In other words, Mamodo can endure other Mamodo spells, while humans cannot. In fact, the most basic mamodo spells could kill a person depending on the circumstances. The book uses heart energy (emotional energy) in order to conduct spells. A lack of emotional passion will cause the book to function at normal capacity. Extreme emotions of rage, love, passion, etc. will amplify the powerful of the spell book. Since the spell book uses heart, it is limited in the number of spells that can be fired. The limit depends on the power of the spells used and the strength of the Mamaodo and book wielder. -- The RP will take place in a theoretical City in an imaginary American state. As of now all I've determined is that the city will be incredibly urban, however if this idea takes off I will develop it further as the RP'ers desire. -- Since a lot of you are familiar with the anime I feel this doesn't need much of an explanation. But I will expand this more later when I have time. |

Hmm, this sounds interesting. Well, will there ever be times where we'll be forced to have something like an RPer's Mamodo's book burned? I know it's your RP, but I'm just asking out of curiosity and stuff. |

Yes. Depending on the actions of the RP'er. NPC mamodo's in the RP will be significantly harder to defeat, simply because they aren't intended to be cannon fodder. Additionally you'll be randomly ambushed depending on how high profile your actions are. So you'll find yourself in disadvantageous situations. You can also on the other hand, take initiative and go looking for other mamodo while abandoning your previous life so as to avoid detection. Just keep in mind that the more you use spells in public, the more dangerous it is for your character. |

Edit: Yeah you could. You'd have to be okay with the fact that as a human you can't do anything, and as a mamodo Peras can't control his own spells. Usually there's a bond that forms that makes coordination easier, and in post form this is hard. But if you guys coordinate in the cbox it should be fine, as long as the level of coordination is believable in an RP setting (ex: your mamodo isn't somehow wordlessly and instantaneously reading the user's mind of where to fire spells)

Subject to Revision Character Sheet Book Keeper Sheet Name: Appearance: Backstory: Notable Skills or Talents Personality: -- The Book Keeper sheet is fairly self explanatory. The mamodo sheet will go into more detail. -- Name: This does not need any more detail Appearance: Mamodo can very in appearance greatly. Ranging in appearance from children, to teenagers, to robots, dragons, even talking horses that act like dogs and hate carrots. Age: This is another tricky section. Mamodo maturity seems to vary from human maturity. At the age of six a Mamodo seems to have equal intelligence and comprehension as a human being. Regardless of age, a Mamodo will surpass a human being physically, to the point of being super human. Theme: A mamodo's book will have a theme. It can be an element, or it can be more specific. For example, a mamodo's book theme could be transformation, fire, gravity, or even mechanical weapons. There's really no limitations. Book Color: At the start of the RP your mamodo will possess the book, not the human. Spell List: You begin with one spell. Your very first spell will usually be powerful enough to put you at an immediate advantage in comparison to other humans. For an example, Zatch's first spell Zakeru was strong enough to destroy the wall of a building. Backstory: You will not begin with your character's experience in the human world, because they haven't had any. Your back story begins with your character's experience in the demon world. You don't really need to know much about the demon world to do this. Describe your characters relationships, and how they interacted with others, etc. Special Notes:There are examples of special skills displayed by Mamodo in the anime. For the sake of balance you won't be allowed the powerful ones in combat (in part because they weren't a major focus point and aren't really necessary). Though more powerful NPCs may display these. These can also be associated with your appearance (say, a horse mamodo may be able to run faster than another child mamodo. For a general idea, Zatch was shown to have an eerie sense of smell that could be used to track people as long as he had their scent. Personality: Mamodo are attracted to people with a heart similar to theirs, but whether or not the book can be read by said person seems independent of this. There are cases where Mamodo are paired up with less than desirable partners. |

Name: Michael Alister Age: 18 Appearance: Michael has black hair and unappealing dull grey eyes. He's rather scrawny, but not remarkably so. His hair is black, and seems to go in an a very erratic manner around his head. On his face is an expression which seems to express eternal boredom. His clothing consists of a very simplistic black buttoned down shirt and jeans with black shoes. Back story: Michael is heir to the massive Alister company, a massive company which deals in the business of television. From birth Michael and his fraternal twin brother, Sebastion, have been in almost constant competition. To Michael's dad, love is not unconditional. Love is earned through a display of talent and ability, and ultimately only the son who displays superiority will earn the right to inherit Alister company and his limitless funds. This feeling of competition, overwhelming dread of loss, and feeling of love that must be earned by all means led to a horrible relationship with Michael's brother Sebastion. However, Michael lived his life unaware of his brother's hate. To Michael, things came naturally. He kept up with his brother in studies, and rarely applied himself to hard. Because of this his brother came to resent him. Sebastion, feeling he was the inferior sibling, eventually fell into deep depression. Unlike Michael, Sebastion social life and overall enjoyment of life was crippled by a frantic attempt to keep up. Now on the eighteenth birthday of both brothers, it seems like a lifelong struggle will reach its climax. Notable Skills or Talents Personality: Michael is very passive, and very distant. He avoids conflict at all cost, and life seems to come to him naturally. He has a very existential, very neutral view on things. -- Name: Maru Appearance: Maru seems to have very little in the way of clothing. He wears a simple tattered brown cloak and ragged brown shoes made of some simple leather. His hair is a dirty brown, and he has very large violet eyes. His body is very small, seemingly malnourished, however he still displays the super human level of resilience and strength mamodo has. Age: 8 Theme: Nightmares, Horror, Chaos Book Color: Purple Spell List: 1. Maruido Maru opens his mouth and his tongue morphs into one of hidden horrors stored within his stomach. A spherical nightmarish monster is formed at the tip of his tongue and flies forward with an open mouth, aiming to consume whatever is in front of it. The monster bites down and explodes, and Maru "consumes" whatever was destroyed in the blast. Backstory: Within the Mamodo world Maru was regarded something quite like fear. Imprisoned within Maru is the manifestation of Mamodo and human fear. A culmination of all chaotic thought and destructive impulse given conscious. Maru was regarded with fear, respect, and to a certain extent, disgust. It was known well throughout the Mamodo world that a victory by Maru would spell out doom for the Mamodo world. However, without fully understanding how his abilities worked or what would happen if he were to die he was simply tolerated. When the Mamodo battle began, it was seen as a chance to send him away while sealing him away. Since a Mamodo loses whatever powers they had while in the demon world, the view was this: with the demon powerless within him as long as the human never advanced, there was a large possibility that Maru could die in the Mamodo battle without being a risk. Special Notes:Maru possesses an elongated black tongue which is seem charged with an energy at all times. It is extremely cold to the touch, and gives an otherworldly feeling of unpleasantness. Using his tongue, Maru can read emotion, and overall character quality. Maru seems to enjoy the taste of fear and dread the most. Personality: If Michael had a polar opposite, Maru would be it. Maru is very emotional and very childish. Looking at him, it seems very unlikely that he would he would be the host for the manifestation of fear and horror. However, Maru's seeming disregard for safety and obsession with destruction seems to indicate something is very off about him. |

Uh...elaborate. Right now I'm thinking no. But you could have a Mamodo who's spells allow them to turn into a weapon. I can't think of a way a literal weapon could walk up and talk to people or maneuver on its own. Especially considering it has to have some way of carrying its book and giving it to an owner. |
