A knight is sworn to valour. His heart knows only virtue. His blade defends the helpless. His might upholds the weak. His word speaks only truth. His wrath undoes the wicked. --The Old Code of the First Knights I here swear fealty and do homage to my lord; to ever be a good knight and true, reverent and generous, shield of the weak, obedient to my liege-lord, foremost in battle, courteous at all times, champion of the right and the good. Thus swear I... --The Oath of all Knights of Logres In the southern lands of civilized men, far from the barbaric wilderness of the North, lies the great kingdom of Logres. For many an age has Logres prospered and flourished, and its kings ruled with a strong and just hand. So it was until the time of King Tristain. Though Tristain was a fair ruler and did the kingdom no great injustice compared to his predecessors, it was during his reign that the North became much agitated. The Barbarian tribes came together as one under Sverir Fydar and stormed down the Throttle, that narrow strip of land connecting our world to theirs. Logres's armies had slowly begun to dwindle and the days had grown long since their cities and towns repaired and maintained their walls and towers; the last two-score years had been so peaceful that, for a time, the Knights of Logres feared their order might cease to exist. In its weakened state the kingdom was slow to halt the charge of the Northmen. The wild hordes swept across the Broadback Mountains, and though the wedge that was the Aegis divided their forces it did not stop them. The men of Bristel were caught unprepared, and only when the guard of Eastbridge marched to their defense did the Northerners cease a relentless assault. But while an uneasy stalemate persisted on one side of the mountains, King Tristain and his sons, brilliant younger Rhys and strong elder Conall, drove the barbarians back across the mountains. From the Hilt that had not seen battle in half a century and the depths of Nightwood came their armies, and even the strange, swift longboats from Yamajima hassled any northmen who thought to slink along the sloping shores below the Broadback. Landing at Eastbridge, the islanders added their forces to the other half of the army, while the King and his sons reinforced the Aegis. The Logermen drove their foes back in a matter of months, and once again peace reigned; however, unlike the lazy days of before, these were days filled with activity such as the hive of bees at the onset of spring. The King gave his sons leave to separate tasks--Rhys was to oversee the gathering of resources and make plans for reconstruction, while Conall was tasked with strengthening the armies and repairing what damage had been done to the great fortress Aegis, for it was a cornerstone of their victory and all felt that they would have sore need of it in the future. Tristain himself took a host to Waveguard to lay plans for naval warfare and consider the possibilities of raiding the north to further cement their victory. Because the war had turned so many boys to men and men to soldiers, and soldiers had performed deeds that earned them lands and titles, the Knights of Logres found their ranks swelling like never before, and set about hosting great tournaments and games and breaking in their new castles. But soon Logres faced a new crisis. Whether his age began to catch up with him, or as a result of the stress of the war, or because of the exposure to the harsh northern elements...perhaps for all of these reasons, the King fell ill. He was quickly rushed back to Kingsport to receive proper treatment, but the trip proved too much for him. Frail and fragile, he died in the arms of his youngest son Rhys, and both brothers wept from the bottom to the top of the mountains. As the kingdom was still in the midst of reconstruction, it was agreed that Rhys would take over the management of the kingdom while Conall continued strengthening the defensive lines and making plans for the northern invasion. At this time, both were sure that Conall, as the eldest, would naturally inherit the crown. But as weeks turned to months, Rhys became more and more convinced that his brother was not the ruler that the people of Logres needed. Whether lust for power or simple logic dominated his thoughts, none can say. But Rhys soon declared his intentions to his brother, and after a flurry of angry letters between them, Logres found itself divided down the middle. Conall, entrenched in the impenetrable Aegis, demanded the crown by the right of eldest son and head of the family line, as well as by right of strength, for their father had left him in charge of the military. He had been raised and groomed for this moment for years before his brother had even been born, and to have his birthright snatched away was nothing short of treason. Rhys denied this on the grounds that Logres needed proper guidance, and its people needed a king that Conall could not become. He placed the crown upon his own head and claimed that for the common good and for the betterment of all he would take upon himself all responsibility. The Knights of Logres were divided between these two according to those whose lands and banners belonged to the different territories each brother claimed, with the exception of those who chose one side or the other for their own personal reasons. Now, what will surely become a bloody civil war begins... RULES GENERAL STUFF WORLD INFO AND MAP KNIGHT STUFF YOU CAN POST NOW Edited by Onime No Ryu, September 1, 2012, 9:28 pm.

Owen tilted his own staff to intercept the blow underneath Dion's, then took a step back and brought both of them in an arc over his head, stretching Dion's arms out and pulling him slightly off balance. Pushing from the center with his other hand the knight sent the opposite end of his weapon snapping at the boy, once again stopping just as it touched his cheek. "Good, you know how to use the close quarters." The blonde man nodded as he hopped backwards, again restoring the distance between them. "But don't ever go forward to an enemy, let him come to you before you use that range." Whether a spear or a staff, the weapons could be spun and levered in a multitude of ways. Those who knew only the basics of the thrust could easily be caught off guard at close range, but someone who knew how to send a staff spinning could easily do the same to his opponent's head. "Now, young Dion, allow me to test your defenses!" This time Owen came at him, and it was as if the knight were a different man. A feinted thrust went low and then high, and when Dion raised his own weapon to block, Owen made a small circular motion with the tip of his weapon as if he were trying to disarm or deflect the boy's staff. But instead the spiral only changed the course of the thrust, and Owen let the shaft slide through his hands to increase the reach, poking Dion lightly in the stomach. Then the staff flew back to the knight's grip and he thrust again, this time straight and high with no feints. As Tyrion watched, Cadoc approached, chewing on a mouthful of mint. The roiling of the sea wasn't helping his nerves at all. But what made him more nervous was the exchange he'd just seen. "Uh...Did, uh, d-did he just give you a poisoned dagger?" he asked Tyrion. Dion's talk about dripping and the way he handled that knife made the jittery man assume the worst. |

Ocean Tyrion glanced at Cadoc as he walked up to him, honestly a little surprised to see him since it seemed like he'd more or less dissapeared earlier in the story for one reason or another. He looked down at the dagger Dion had handed him before going to spar with Owen, and after a few seconds of examination nodded his head. "Looks that way. Dion may not seem much like his father on the surface, but you know that old saying, 'The apple doesn't fall from the tree'." he said as he carefully tucked said dagger away and resumed watching the match. Now more than ever, he was beginning to think there might have been more to Dion than there seemed. So far the sparring had been very light, with Owen not putting much effort into any of his attacks. Even with that much, Dion seemed a little hard-pressed to keep up. But that impish looking grin he'd had plastered on his face this whole time made Tyrion curious. Was he just fooling around? Perhaps he hadn't started fighting seriously yet either. As he watched the younger man stumbling around though, he rubbed his chin. If this was somehow an act, it was a damn convincing one. "I'm starting to wonder how many secrets the Silvis Family really has..." he muttered to himself with a small frown. |

Dion's games: Open Ocean I can hear the condescension in his voice... he's buying it entirely. And now he's finally doing it to himself, he's going on the offensive. He's sure I'm just some powerless, idiotic child given position due to my father's name and Rhys' kind heart. Now just a little more and I'll have him right where I want him... he'll open himself up fully, just like he warned me about... The next few seconds were just as painful as he had imagined that they might be. The feints were moderately quick, albeit obscenely obvious given the situation. It was a slight misdirection, effective against a novice like he was supposed to be. And of course, Dion played the part as honestly as ever. The moment that the staff struck his stomach he bent forward ever so slightly and allowed his hand to quiver. As the senior knight pulled back to thrust again, he let go of the staff as if terror had overtaken him. A true sign of being overwhelmed if there ever was one. Just as the staff was about to make contact again, it was time to finish this deception once and for all. A split second before the attack would connect, the impish grin that had been plastered across Dion's face seemed to turn instantly into something brutal and fiendish. There was a look in his eye, cold and heartless... like a snake that had been lying in wait for the perfect moment to strike. Instantly Dion surged forward moving mere inches out of the way of the staff thrust before latching onto the handle where Owen was holding onto the staff with his left hand. The boy's grip was firm, perhaps not unbreakable but given the surprise the older knight must be experiencing it should have been enough to buy him just a split second. In a fluid motion the young knight pulled himself closer to Owen using his left hand to keep them connected while making the distance between them shrink in the blinking of an eye. As he lunged forward there was a quick flash of brown, barely registrable to Tyrion as he watched the scene unfolding. Without ever so much as a hint of motion during the little darting scene, Dion had pulled the smaller stick out of his belt and held it in a reverse grip more akin to a dagger than a sword. At first he merely punched forward with it, aiming straight toward his intended target the boisterous man's nose. But then something else took over. With a single flick of the wrist the attack soared right over Owen's left shoulder and the gust created by his assault could be felt passing just across his check. In that moment, both knights were eye to eye mere inches away from one another. The playfulness in Dion's eyes was gone, he was cold now... brutal and efficient. It was instinct, the rush of getting the drop on his opponent, the sweet taste of victory and death at the tip of his tongue. Instantly the bloodthirsty fiend jerked back pulling the stick toward the back of Owen's neck. As it was, the blow might be strong enough to leave a small bruise but the implication would be clear to both of them if this were real. With a wooden weapon, all this was just for show... but in a real battle, imagine what this would have been. Even with all your armor, the back of the neck is always a weak point because it is a separate piece. From this position, the exact angle of the blade could be adjusted to sneak between the gaps. A dagger, a short sword... either could make it through the defenses. It would be over in a second... the edge would plow through whatever might be back there like chainmail and rip through the skin like butter. The spine would be severed and you would be merely a standing corpse before your body went limp... |

Allison Noir Westbridge, a few weeks later The only sign that alerted the sentry to the approaching figure was the sound of hooves crunching in the stiff grass. He looked up. It was almost midnight, and it was uncommon for anyone to make the trek through the snowy pass at this time of year. He scratched his long, filthy beard thoughtfully, rising to a stand. As the figure got closer, he made note of the sword at its hip. Obviously a warrior, perhaps making the journey up to the Aegis to enlist with King Conall. He hailed the figure down, and walked out through the snow several yards to greet them. "What brings you to Westbridge stranger?" "Coming to meet an old friend. Perhaps you could direct me to the Bighorn Inn?" The guard started slightly at the voice. From faraway, he hadn't realized that the stranger was a woman. It was rare for a woman, especially nowadays, to carry weapons. Looking down, he saw a bit of steel poking through the heavy cloak. Why she was wearing armor and a cloak was beyond him. It was a good thing Westbridge was so close to the sea and so high up in the mountains. The combination made for a very cool atmosphere, and he doubted the woman could've made the trek in full armor without it. Even with the horse. "Well, you see, my mind's a little fuzzy. Westbridge has a lot of inns, and I don't know the location of all of 'em. A coin or two might help." The woman pushed the cowl back from her head, and dropped down off of her horse, glaring at him. For a woman, he thought, she was quite intimidating. He shuffled nervously, and pointed back towards the middle of town, to a large, wooden building. "That'd be it m'am." Allison swung back up onto her horse and reached into her cloak pocket. She flipped a small copper bit towards the man, and then made her way into town. She tied her horse onto a stake by the side of the inn, and made her way inside. |

Battle in the Pass Put off balance by Red's attacks, Drogo felt himself falling and reacted instinctively, wrapping his burly arms around the other man's shoulders. They both went to the ground, Drogo rolling backwards, and the arrow meant for Red thudded into the rocks without hitting either of them. Drogo's grip on his weapons meant he had less leverage on Red, however, and soon the two broke apart and scrambled to their feet, effectively resetting the distance for their fight. |

Red BROADBACK MOUNTAINS ~ Battle in the Pass Red's smaller size, combined with the fact that he held no weapons to occupy his hands, meant that Red was able to find his way to his feet considerably faster than his large opponent. Quickly, the man hopped back, moving his legs outside of Drogo's striking range. As soon as he felt confident that the man could not reach him however, Red stepped forward, Rotating at the hips and shoulders to lash out with a long right jab. There was little power in the blow, but its range was great, and the spikes protruding from Red's knuckles gave even a light jab the potential to kill. His real intent however, was to simply test the barbarian's defenses. If he found an opening, Red would follow up with a devastating left hook. If Drogo managed to deflect or avoid the jab though, the islander would back off, not interested in getting caught in a counter-attack. The vicious nature of this man's weapons and the feral way he moved... Red hadn't fought anyone like him before; the closest he had ever come was fighting a starving wolf in the forests of Yamajima. Then, he had only had to wait for the wolf to attack him, and it was a simple matter of putting the animal down when it came within striking range. Now though, Red wasn't so sure. The instincts of a beast in the body of a man... He's wild and unpredictable, but he has no control, no restraint. He can never know true strength as he is now. |

Broadback Mountains When the two separated on the ground Drogo shoved himself to his feet quickly before looking at his opponent. The fist fighter was coming at him with jab. His body shifted out of the way, allowing the spikes and knuckles to graze his bangle before lunging forward into the mans guard. His knife came up tip first as he attempted to cut the younger mans gut open while his battle cleaver was aimed towards the mans kidney. This boy is fast...but he doesn't look like the cowardly southerners... He mused as he somersaulted backwards away from Red. The stoney ground bit into his back a little but nothing that bothers him. He started to circle again, eying his prey for weak points in his defense and stance. He moved naturally on the stoney ground, most people would be watching where they stepped but his feet found purchases few southerners or islanders could find. "You're fun...name?" He rumbled as he hunched down low to the ground while skulking around Red. (meh not good but whatever. Gets the job done) |

WESTBRIDGE BIGHORN INN At this time of night the Inn was at its peak; rowdy patrons were drinking themselves into oblivion all around, and a cloaked minstrel played softly upon a lyre near the fireplace. And a familiar figure turned in his stool as Allison walked in, the bronze clasp of his cloak glimmering in the low light. "Well, and here I'd almost given up hope we'd meet again, my lady." He smiled, and held up her swordbelt--but without her father's sword in the scabbard. "Am I to assume you are here for this?" His hair was dark and wild, spiking in every direction but finally lying straight and smooth from below his ears to where it fell upon his shoulders. His eyes were bright blue, and his face was smooth and clean shaven, with handsome features. His clothes weren't the finest, but they were respectable. And yet despite all the half-decent decoration there was a roughness to him that spoke of the streets and the slums. "Come, have a drink with me." he said, then turned back to the barkeeper as if she were no threat at all. OCEAN GULF Dion's change of expression wasn't unnoticed by the elder Knight. Owen's battle senses tingled, feeling the bloodlust radiating from the boy. As Dion's fist came hurtling at him he let go of his staff entirely, his eyes emitting a sharp golden glare. Then the wooden sword came slashing back, and something ripped-- The practice weapon carried a strip of Owen's sleeve with it as it left an angry red mark on the man's left shoulder. Owen had already turned, enough to avoid a fatal hit had it been a real blade, but this wasn't the end. The golden tree, its thorny boughs piercing the sky with a thousand points, loomed over Dion. Owen's hand shot out, as straight as any lance, a golden light shooting through his palm. He struck Dion in the chest, knocking the breath from the boy and sending him tumbling backwards until he crashed into the rail of the ship and slid down to the deck. The light faded away, and Owen blinked, suddenly horrified. "Dion! Are you alright!?" he called, rushing and kneeling by the boy. "Raise your arms, lad, take deep breaths--I'm so sorry, my instincts just took over, let me help you up..." |

Allison's eyes filled with hatred as she saw the man who had forced her to follow him over leagues of treacherous, bandit filled terrain. And now he had the audacity to look completely calm and unafraid. Looking around, she wondered how many of these men would rush to his aid if she attempted to strike him. Before she had even begun to calculate her odds, she noticed that her father's sword wasn't here, only the scabbard. Sighing, she resigned herself to a long night. He no doubt wanted something in exchange for the sword. She weaved her way around the men in the bar, taking a seat by her tormentor. She noticed he was still wearing the same clothes he had been weeks ago. She smirked. "I guess all that money didn't help you out much, my friend." She put stress on the word friend, indicating that he was anything but. She got a drink from the bartender and looked at the man. "Now, why don't we just get down to it. What do you want?" |

Ocean In the blink of an eye, it seemed that the simple sparring match took a much more serious turn. Dion suddenly lashed out again, but this time it was not the strike of a clumsy amateur, but a skilled and cunning executioner. The kind of strike the younger man was attempting was almost guaranteed to kill a man, if they had been using real weapons. It was a very dangerous move though, for both the person being attacked and the one attacking, since it required getting in so close. But Owen hadn't gotten his reputation by being lucky. The older knight managed to twist out of the way of the blow, and what followed made Tyrion's jaw drop in awe. Once again, the strange sight of some sort of golden tree appeared over the two fighters, and Owen lashed out with a straight strike to Dion's chest. What was surprising about the attack though, was the golden light coming from his palm. He blinked as Dion sailed across the deck, and let out a breath as the spar came to an end. "I had a feeling Dion was hiding something...guess it didn't make much of a difference though..." he muttered as he walked across the deck to help Owen get Dion back on his feet. "How many fingers am I holding up, Dion?" he asked with a cheeky grin, holding up three fingers before the younger man's face. "That looked like it hurt. Can you stand up?" |

Dion's games Open Ocean When he retold the story later on, Dion would probably leave out the fact that for just a few seconds he was unconscious. He would also probably leave out the fact that even through a layer of metal, which now had a rather painful indention in it, the palm strike still knocked the wind out of him. Inside he could feel his heart pumping so loud that it threatened to deafen the entire sea. But he didn't show it. He held it inside, just like so many other things. While it was true that the impish grin was gone, there was still something in Dion's eyes that felt truly frightening. But it wasn't that blood lust from before. It felt like judgment coming down from on high, as if he had just pulled back a curtain revealing a small little man instead of the heroic figure that everyone had imagined. Slowly he rose up, grabbing a hold of Tyrion's shoulder to raise up on his own. There was no way that he was going to accept the help of the man that had just done that. Releasing his Valor over something as minor as this was downright pathetic. In the moments to follow, that disdain and loss of respect seemed to echo behind every word that he said. "I'm fine. I take it that someone forgot that this was supposed to just be a friendly little sparring session then? So much for the nurturing, caring "friend of all" attitude I suppose. It's true, even someone in the guise of a saint is still just as happy to spill the blood of a friend as he is a foe when that feeling kicks in. I could see it in your eyes, the thrill of wanting to saite your thrust... even with the blood of a fellow knight. I guess the rush of the kill is just too much for even someone like yourself to resist isn't Sir Owen.." Quickly Dion turned to look, making sure to play up the look of disgust in his eyes before offering a legitimately kind smile toward the young knight with the cheeky grin. "Three by the way, three fingers. I'll be honest with you Tyrion, after that, I'd really like a chance to rest. I didn't think he'd attack me like that, it was like he was going for the kill... geez, here I was just going to play with him a little and maybe force him to stop treating me like some kid, I never thought he'd try to break my ribs for it. If it wasn't for the plate under my shirt, that last blow might have taken me out... for good. You're free to come with me. Not that I'll be much fun to hangout with right now, hooo it kinda hurts to breath you know?" And with that, the old Dion seemed to be back entire as he let out an exaggerated breath and rubbed his chest with both hands. Edited by NTNP, September 16, 2012, 7:36 pm.

William of Idlewood Broadback Mountain - Fighting Northern Cunts "Like always the northerners pride themselves on fair fights." William sarcastically said to himself as the axeman closed in on his front and a second northerner rounded him at his nine. That shield must weigh a ton. If I can get him to swing and miss this fight will be mine...but can I finish his friend off while avoiding him? As the axeman drew closer William took steps back, bringing the dual wielder into his sight in the process, and readied his sword. Once the axeman was within reach he raised his axe chop the swordsman's head off. Raising his weapon William parried the blow while emptying the sheathe on his hip, but in the process the northerner managed to break William's guard. Seeing William was open the second Northerner rushed William with his two curved swords. Almost instantly the dual wielder stopped in his tracks, pulling William's knife from his shoulder, and tossing it onto the ground. The northern had a look of confusion, probably wondering when William had thrown it. Bringing his sword back up William lowered himself as he made a stab at the northerner's unprotected waist. |

Broadback Mountains What is Mercy? As the soldier used leverage to yank his lance out of the barbarian's skull, it made a sickening crack--spewing blood from the wound and onto the killer. Brandishing the pole-arm in a twirl Austin noticed another man calling out for help and rushed towards him bouncing off of his left foot into a hard sprint. "Duck!" He yelled to the boy, spinning his lance around so that he could throw it. Pressing his feet into the ground, the impaler skidded to a halt, raising the weapon into a position to where he could throw it. He threw the javelin, using his opposite foot for leverage and following through in perfect form. For the next attack, the veteran spun in a circle, planning to use the momentum to knock the hell out of the remaining target. The thrown spear pierced Austin's target in the chest, knocking him off of his feet and onto the ground. He was done for, there would be no more resistance from him. Because the other barbarian was skidding to a halt, he was unlucky enough to be caught within range of the next attack. With a ferocious if not downright savage roar the veteran slammed the spike-covered board into the northerner, easily knocking him off of his feet and to the rocky surface. He released his weapons as he fell from the blunt force, both of them giving hitting the ground with a loud clang. The barbarian was a mess, his skin was torn horribly from the spikes and he was stained with his own blood. Twisting his neck with a loud crack, Austin walked towards his next victim to finish the job. "...." The northerner just stared on at his assaulter through labored breathing. As one of his kind, he was going to die proudly in battle. "This will be the end.." He raised his foot, ready to bring it down in one vicious stomp. "..May your god bring you rest." And then it was over, the soldier brought his boot down and smashed the man's skull in. |

Red BROADBACK MOUNTAINS ~ Battle in the Pass Drogo's fighting style was reckless and foolish. Stepping into Red's guard was a bad move, as the islander still held his dominant arm defensively, and close to his body. When Drogo came in for a swipe with his knife, Red stepped into his opponent, slamming his left forearm into the barbarian's hand. By this time, Red had pulled back his right hand from the jab, and another quick punch connected with Drogo's bicep, pushing back the arm holding his cleaver. Using the position of his right hand to his advantage, Red pulled back hard, twisting at the shoulders and hips to send his left fist driving towards Drogo's exposed ribcage. As both of the man's arms had just been pushed away, he would likely be thrown off balance, and trying to stumble backwards would do him little good as Red's momentum would carry him to Drogo quicker than the barbarian could move away. Luckily for the barbarian, he somersaulted backwards just in time to avoid a surely fatal blow. Red blinked deliberately, looking at the spot where Drogo had been standing only seconds before. Slowly, a smirk came to the fist fighter's face. Already, the barbarian was beginning to circle him. Again, Red's thoughts drifted to his encounter with the wolf in that clearing, all those years ago. He's trying to make me feel as if I'm the prey. Red's smirk broke into a grin. The savage spoke, surprising Red. After a short pause, he replied, already moving towards his foe. "I am Red. Red Waveborn." Gauntlets held in front of his face defensively, Red advanced, clinking his fists together with anticipation. "And my name will be the last you ever hear." Like a flash of lightning, Red darted forward, pushing into Drogo's guard and using his gauntlets like a riot shield to deflect any attacks. As Red moved, his body seemed to take on a crimson glow. In his wake, droplets of scarlet energy fell to the ground like water. His eyes burned with the same bloody light, flashing wildly as he drew closer to his target. Never losing his momentum, Red planted his feet and started off with a quick jab, pulling it back almost as quickly as he had thrown it. Using the force of that pull, Red threw a powerful right straight aimed at the man's shoulder--Surely not lethal, but incredibly damaging. Each of Red's punches left imprints on the air, as if excess power flowed from his very pores. A second duo of punches followed the first two, completing Flurry and causing Red's aura to die down. Instantly, the Islander was away, guard raised, ready to keep going. Only now, his shoulders rose and fell in time with his breathing. His assault had been fast, but obviously draining. A lot of energy went into the attack, and it was unlikely that Drogo would be coming out unscathed. If the barbarian was still alive however, Red was anything but done. Clearing his throat deliberately, Red lowered his head and stared at Drogo, his gaze as intense as ever. A single bead of sweat rolled down from the man's brow. Tell me this isn't all you're capable of, savage. I haven't been challenged like this in a while. "Come!" Red barked, voice harsh. "Meet your end!" |

Broadback Mountains Drogo's arm bled from the blow it had received, but he wasn't even paying attention to it. The boy had drawn first blood and looked like he was going to press for more. He smoothly slid his knife into its sheath and pulled his hand axe from its loop. "An honor meeting another warrior who doesn't hide behind a wall of steel." He rumbled in response, referring to knight armor and their shields. It was as if they were afraid of getting hurt by the world around them. He could hear the combat behind him, but that wasn't his concern at the moment. Red was advancing on him. Red arms were up when he was advancing and energy seemed to flow off him. He crouched down and smacked the jab away before turning his shoulder in so the spiked only scraped his skin instead of puncturing it. Three more bloody trails on his arm. The third strike landed on his abdomen, giving him a third wound. The final strike was knocked out of the way by his cleavers sharpened edge. The gauntlet that was struck had a surprisingly clean and fairly deep cut in the metal. Red leaped back and looked tired from that flurry of blows. "Hm...that looks like it should be a finisher." He rumbled before darting in surprisingly fast for someone of his build. Red spoke to him, making him grin wickedly the boy had superior defenses when it came to being attacked and could obviously handle two weapons coming at him at once. But could he handle a thrown weapon? His hand snapped forward in his lunge, sending his axe sailing towards Red in an underhanded throw. He followed the weapon and slashed at him, keeping his now free hand at the ready to latch onto the younger mans wrist. "Fight to win, alls fair in war boy." The axe wielding barbarian stated, looking coldly at William as he knocked through the kids guard. His companion was coming in for possibly the finishing blow before taking a knife to the shoulder. Depending on which barbarian got attack there would be a different reaction. The shielder would have blocked the sword and let it get stuck in the sturdy wood before countering with a fierce upper-cut. The sword wielder would parry the sword thrust and counter with a thrust of his own to William's stomach. |

Ocean Tyrion took a step back after allowing Dion to use his shoulder to pull himself to his feet, and then tilted his head as the younger man went off on Owen for that last attack. He certainly didn't seem like the upbeat, carefree kid he usually did as he tried to imply that Owen was nothing more than a killer. Despite this odd verbal abuse, Tyrion forced a chuckle, and patted Dion on the back. "Now now, accidents happen, right?" he said, trying to sound light in the hopes of defusing the situation. "I'm sure Sir Owen didn't mean any harm." Scratching the side of his head, he glanced at Owen with a curious eye. He believed that the older man really hadn't meant to strike Dion with so much force, but that aura still had him puzzled. He wished he could figure out how it really worked. "I think we've probably done enough sparring for today, right guys? You should have one of the physicians take a closer look at you, though, just to be on the safe side." he continued as he returned his eyes to Dion. |

Dion's Game Open Ocean Dion offered up a small smile for a second, rubbing his chest. Regardless of anything else, the idea of seeing a doctor to make sure that he didn't end up with a bruised rib from that last attack was probably a good idea. He tried to just roll with his companion's idea that it was a mistake, but in the end his voice was already starting to falter. "Yeah, I'm sure it was just an accident when he, you know, summoned up the greatest strength and power that the knight's possess when he meant to you know- giggle or something..." Then something seemed to darken as Dion sat there, looking at the ground. As much as he would like to hold back and leave things be, he felt like this was too important for him to misunderstand. Sure right now they were playing and Dion was trying to get a rise out of him, this was very different. "... Look I'm sorry, Tyrion if your going to live through this conflict you can't fool yourself about this. That was Sir Owen's valor. It's a power gained the moment when the mind has become one, the decision to fight on instead of giving up or fleeing... my father always called it the resignation of humanity, the willingness to take a life in order to obtain what you want. Sir Owen had full intention to kill in that strike if that was what it took. It might be easier to avert one's eyes sometimes, but never imagine that men with hands as bloody as Owen's, Ishen's or my father's wouldn't be willing to take yet another life if that was what it took to protect themselves." |

WESTBRIDGE BIGHORN INN "You're a mercenary, aren't you?" The man chuckled before calling for another drink for himself. "What I want, my lady, is to make you an offer." He looked at her over the rim of his glass and took a sip of the amber froth before he continued. "My name, by the way, is Vincent. Vincent Underbridge." The beer sloshed as he slammed it down on the table. "And I'm the man who's going to turn this entire country upside down." There was fire, adventure, and excitement in his smile...and darkness, and blood too. But as to whose, who could say? OCEAN GULF Owen frowned as Dion began to spit accusations. He had a lot to say for a boy who had just had the wind knocked out of him. "It was not my intention to seriously harm you, Dion." the man said, drawing back to his full height. "But your attack was so fierce that my reflexes betrayed my reasoning. I did not expect such...cunning...," the knight grimaced, "from you." There were, perhaps, more fitting words to describe it than that. Trickery, perhaps. Dastardly, even. "A Knight's Valor is not the intent to kill, though it is certainly an expression of their power. The power I, and even others like your father, have at our disposal is not a mere weapon of murder. But at your age I see how easy it is to misunderstand." Owen sighed and turned away. "Indeed, I suppose you are your father's son after all. Sir Stark, if you would help the child to his rest?" Does the little fool think so ill of me simply because I won't stand by and let his father use and abuse and manipulate, with all his shadowy schemes? Owen examined the rip in his sleeve as he picked up the sparring equipment. Or is he just a sadist behind that cheer, wanting to see others suffer so he can pretend to sit at the highest chair instead of IN the high-chair? THE BROADBACK BATTLE IN THE PASS As William was set upon by two more of the tribesmen, Trent rushed to his aid. His pursuers had been handily dealt with by the spearmen, and he called out a hasty thanks before leaping at the axe-holding northerner from behind, bringing his sword down in a great arc. There was too much movement to it; a wild and clumsy swing that could have been easily dodged. But the northerner wasn't looking, and Trent put all the power of a farmboy used to plowing fields and hauling grain into the attack. The blade struck home right between the neck and the collar bone and cleaved all the way into his back, shattering his spine. Trent was almost dragged down to the ground as the man's weight sagged, but again he copied the spearmen and put his foot on the man's other shoulder to wrench his weapon free. Harding crushed another northman's face under his mace, and paused to look around the pass. Though the barbarian archers had been able to deal a few injuries and a couple of deaths, the majority of his force was into the fray now. All the northern archers were killed, and his own side of the pass had been cleared as well. All that remained were on the other ledge, with that leader of theirs who held the big cleaver. But the numbers and the difference in quality were telling. The southerners had better equipment and armor, and better discipline. What little advantage the northerners had in their surprise attack was gone now, as were their walls and hiding places. "We have them now, lads!" the commander called out. "Press forward! Surround them!" Edited by Onime No Ryu, September 17, 2012, 8:49 pm.

Dion's Game Open Ocean "Of course I'm cunning Sir Owen, I'm expected to be. How else could a "child" like me manage to serve this land side by side with the likes of you? Those of us not graced with unnatural strength and endurance cannot merely play by the rules, they must overcome them in order to even keep up if I hope to survive." For just a second Dion glared at him, starting to get angry. Once again he was insulting him, his family, all he really had left was to bad mouth Rhys and he would have crossed every one of his lines. "And don't-" At that moment, the words Dion intended to yell at that arrogant jerk raced through his mind. But don't think your so superior to me Owen! No matter what we do, no matter what we are ordered, we would follow the King's order no matter what! Would you do the same? I'll follow Rhys, no matter where he goes or what good or evils he wants to accomplish there. If he tells me to sail across the sea and talk to an enemy nation, I'll do it. If he tells me to fight a battle I have no chance of surviving even as a mere diversion I'll do it. If he tells me to kill every last person in Westbridge because it displeased him I'd do it. Not because he's my friend, or because I trust him, or even because he has a vision for Logres that no one else does but because he's my King. Men like you would never do something against your honor, not for anyone... perhaps that's why you can act so superior, because there is a line you wouldn't cross in the name of duty. I've known from the beginning that my place was as Rhys's sword to strike even when he couldn't. But at the end of the day, he knew it wouldn't go through. Nothing ever did sink through someone like that. Truth was, there was nothing that he could say that would really get through to that guy. Owen wasn't willing to listen, let alone change his opinions. People like that were never were. They stuck to their opinions, never waving or growing. Honestly it was pathetic. "It's not worth it. Believe what you want, call me and my father the villains of the story if you want. I have no reason to defend myself or my family's honor to you. Insult us if you wish, I hope it at least makes you feel better about yourself." "Tyrion, I think I'm going to call it a day before Sir Owen decides to educate me again." At that, the injured young man waved off his potential friend and headed downstairs. It looked like this little trip had managed to get both of the Silvis family to head below deck for the duration of the mission. Talk about an effective way of starting the campaign... |

Red BROADBACK MOUNTAINS ~ Battle in the Pass Red simply leaned to the side as the axe came hurtling at him, watching with disinterest as the weapon flew past another soldier's head and straight into a bush. It would lie there, useless for the remainder of this fight. From all sides, soldiers were closing in, forming a circle around what remained of the barbarian forces. Still, Drogo came at Red like a cornered beast, lashing out wildly with his knife. A quick slap from Red's heavy hand sent the knife spinning towards the ground, quivering audibly as it buried itself in the dirt. Drogo attempted to grab Red's wrist, but the islander was on to his tricks, and beat him to the punch. Holding not one, but both of his arms in a vice-like grip, the fist fighter drove Drogo to his knees--Though normally, the barbarian's strength would be greater than Red's own, with his accumulated injuries, Drogo was not at his best. Keeping his body far enough back that the savage couldn't headbutt him, Red spoke. "Concede. Admit defeat. It is obvious who is stronger." The warrior paused, glancing around without ever moving his head. Soldiers inched forward, reassured of their victory as Red forced the barbarian leader to submit. "You cannot defeat me. You cannot escape. Surrender, or you shall die." Edited by The Best, September 17, 2012, 11:22 pm.

Broadback Mountains Drogo nearly growled when his cleaver was knocked from his hand. It was hard to grip things firmly thanks to his punctured bicep. He was driven to his knee, I'm assuming by Red twisting his weakened arms, before the fist fighter spoke. "Naturally I could draw this out and make it a big pain for the both of us..." He rumbled, looking directly into Red's eyes. "But that wouldn't do anything except give the pale whelps behind me an excuse to stab me in the back. I admit defeat." He stated and relaxed his arms. "Knife is in the sheath at the small of my back. I'd appreciate it if you collected and held onto my weapons while I'm a prisoner." He finished. Edited by Kazemitsu, September 18, 2012, 6:23 pm.

Allison Noir Bighorn Inn Allison's body tensed slightly, barely noticeable under her armor and cloak, when she heard Vincent's words. Shake the country up? Wasn't it already at war with itself? How much could he do? She eyed him warily. She wasn't overly fond of the nobility, but that didn't mean she wanted to fight them or anything. She had other ideas about how a country should be run, not that she'd ever told anyone that. Now this man was proposing... what exactly? Perhaps she should gather a little bit of information before jumping to any conclusions. She relaxed. "I'm Allison Norfrost." She introduced herself, just as Vincent had done. However, she refrained from using her real surname. It was a practice she'd adopted when she learned her father had once been a noble, and she didn't want anyone to make a connection between her, and the once renowned House of Noir. Her father had had quite an impact on this country before he was expunged from the nobility. Even Jeremus didn't know of her noble roots. To him, she was simply Allison. "You could call me a mercenary, I suppose. Though, I am currently employed under our mutual friend, Jeremus." She looked him in the eye, hinting that he was anything but friends with Jeremus. "He gave me leave to track you down to conclude our business, but he'll no doubt be expecting me back. So, what, exactly are you proposing, Vincent, that it required me to traverse half the country to learn of it?" Allison settled back in her chair, setting the ale back down on the bar. She had only taken a sip before, but she didn't want to be inebriated if she was going to talk to this man. Though, from the looks of him and by the way he attacked the mug, he was probably already drunk. Or maybe not. Either way, no matter what happened here today, she wasn't leaving without her sword. |

Red BROADBACK MOUNTAINS Red did as he was asked, collecting the barbarian's weapons and handing them to a soldier while two more bound Drogo's hands behind his back and lifted him to his feet. As his latest opponent was carried away and readied for transport, the fist fighter crossed his arms, surveying the battlefield. It seemed that apart from Drogo, none of the savages had survived. A few soldiers lay dead or dying, but for the most part, it seemed that the majority of the squadron had managed to get out with nothing more than a few cuts and scrapes. Minimal losses, and the leader of the ragtag band of barbarians, captured alive. Overall, it had been a successful mission. Calmly, the islander approached the commanding officer of Conall's expeditionary force, bowing respectfully. "What's our next move, sir?" |
