A knight is sworn to valour.
His heart knows only virtue.
His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.
His word speaks only truth.
His wrath undoes the wicked.

--The Old Code of the First Knights

I here swear fealty and do homage to my lord;
to ever be a good knight and true,
reverent and generous,
shield of the weak,
obedient to my liege-lord,
foremost in battle,
courteous at all times,
champion of the right and the good.
Thus swear I...

--The Oath of all Knights of Logres

In the southern lands of civilized men, far from the barbaric wilderness of the North, lies the great kingdom of Logres. For many an age has Logres prospered and flourished, and its kings ruled with a strong and just hand. So it was until the time of King Tristain. Though Tristain was a fair ruler and did the kingdom no great injustice compared to his predecessors, it was during his reign that the North became much agitated. The Barbarian tribes came together as one under Sverir Fydar and stormed down the Throttle, that narrow strip of land connecting our world to theirs.

Logres's armies had slowly begun to dwindle and the days had grown long since their cities and towns repaired and maintained their walls and towers; the last two-score years had been so peaceful that, for a time, the Knights of Logres feared their order might cease to exist. In its weakened state the kingdom was slow to halt the charge of the Northmen. The wild hordes swept across the Broadback Mountains, and though the wedge that was the Aegis divided their forces it did not stop them. The men of Bristel were caught unprepared, and only when the guard of Eastbridge marched to their defense did the Northerners cease a relentless assault.

But while an uneasy stalemate persisted on one side of the mountains, King Tristain and his sons, brilliant younger Rhys and strong elder Conall, drove the barbarians back across the mountains. From the Hilt that had not seen battle in half a century and the depths of Nightwood came their armies, and even the strange, swift longboats from Yamajima hassled any northmen who thought to slink along the sloping shores below the Broadback. Landing at Eastbridge, the islanders added their forces to the other half of the army, while the King and his sons reinforced the Aegis. The Logermen drove their foes back in a matter of months, and once again peace reigned; however, unlike the lazy days of before, these were days filled with activity such as the hive of bees at the onset of spring.

The King gave his sons leave to separate tasks--Rhys was to oversee the gathering of resources and make plans for reconstruction, while Conall was tasked with strengthening the armies and repairing what damage had been done to the great fortress Aegis, for it was a cornerstone of their victory and all felt that they would have sore need of it in the future. Tristain himself took a host to Waveguard to lay plans for naval warfare and consider the possibilities of raiding the north to further cement their victory. Because the war had turned so many boys to men and men to soldiers, and soldiers had performed deeds that earned them lands and titles, the Knights of Logres found their ranks swelling like never before, and set about hosting great tournaments and games and breaking in their new castles.

But soon Logres faced a new crisis. Whether his age began to catch up with him, or as a result of the stress of the war, or because of the exposure to the harsh northern elements...perhaps for all of these reasons, the King fell ill. He was quickly rushed back to Kingsport to receive proper treatment, but the trip proved too much for him. Frail and fragile, he died in the arms of his youngest son Rhys, and both brothers wept from the bottom to the top of the mountains.

As the kingdom was still in the midst of reconstruction, it was agreed that Rhys would take over the management of the kingdom while Conall continued strengthening the defensive lines and making plans for the northern invasion. At this time, both were sure that Conall, as the eldest, would naturally inherit the crown. But as weeks turned to months, Rhys became more and more convinced that his brother was not the ruler that the people of Logres needed. Whether lust for power or simple logic dominated his thoughts, none can say. But Rhys soon declared his intentions to his brother, and after a flurry of angry letters between them, Logres found itself divided down the middle. Conall, entrenched in the impenetrable Aegis, demanded the crown by the right of eldest son and head of the family line, as well as by right of strength, for their father had left him in charge of the military. He had been raised and groomed for this moment for years before his brother had even been born, and to have his birthright snatched away was nothing short of treason. Rhys denied this on the grounds that Logres needed proper guidance, and its people needed a king that Conall could not become. He placed the crown upon his own head and claimed that for the common good and for the betterment of all he would take upon himself all responsibility.

The Knights of Logres were divided between these two according to those whose lands and banners belonged to the different territories each brother claimed, with the exception of those who chose one side or the other for their own personal reasons. Now, what will surely become a bloody civil war begins...

If you kept a low profile you'd probably be alright as long as no one started calling you out on it. If your character was a mercenary, he'd probably be fine if he found someone to join up with quickly. No one would trust him worth a damn at the beginning, but they'd at least throw you out on the front lines.

Name: William of Idlewood
Age: 24
Appearance:
Spoiler: click to toggle

Backstory: Harry, a stone mason and carpenter of great renown ventured out into the western reaches of Gloria in search of riches nearly thirty years ago with one hundred brave apprentices and many hired mercenaries. Though the whereabouts of the Forest Frontier were unknown at the time and said to be very treacherous, he was determined to find out what was hidden.

After many years of work, a city was finally built. Bridges spanned across a river from where they drew their water, with walls along its banks to prevent flooding. Housing was made of mostly log cabins, while others were made from stone brick lain over mortar. Twenty-five feet high walls in an octagon shape protected the village; complete with a watch tower at every point. Roads were paved into the ground, to allow ease of access when commuting across the humble city. In all, there were four mills along the river to process grain and two blacksmiths. A single barracks was made where every citizen was trained to serve as militia.

Falling in love with one of his apprentices, Harry made an estate in the village for his wife. For what they had, it was a rather impressive manor when completed. It was made of refined granite, with marble flooring and mighty stone pillars to support the roof. The courtyard was essentially a garden, full of flowers and trees. As the elected governor of the town, he gave word to pave a way into the main road and send word to the king that a new city had been established. They could provide lumber, granite, iron, and fine furs in trade.

Some years later, they had four children. From youngest to oldest, they were Lindsay, Jacob, William, and Austin. Upon her eighteenth birthday, Lindsay married a young nobleman from Gloria which improved relations between the two cities, creating a road that connected the two city's directly. Harry planned for his children to follow in his footsteps, teaching his three sons all of his skills as a stone mason and carpenter.

If they weren't being taught by their father, they were being taught how to fight at the barracks. It wasn't a boring life though, it was nearly perfect. One reaching the age of twelve, they were educated about things like politics directly from their father. How to barter, trade, make demands, read a man's real intent, and even when to bow head and accept what was happening.

Recently, the three brothers heeded the call of the king at their father's beset, fighting against the north. Once the war was towards an end, they were relieved of duty and returned home. However...upon learning the fate of the King, Austin and William set out to aid Conall as the rightful heir to the throne.

Main Weapon: Longsword
Sub-Weapon: Knife

(Insert Weapon/Style) Skills:
1. Charge: A quick 6 foot lunge (plus weapon length) at a target.
2. Throw: A precise ranged attacked utilized by William quickly throwing his knife.

Hmm, do characters have the option to be on either the younger, smarter, all the way around probably better Prince Rhys's side or do they all have to be loyal to Prince Conall since you know, being knights and part of the military? Because I'll be honest, I would really like to have Carth and associated minor characters be serving Prince Rhys since it pretty much fits what I want for his personal story arc just about perfectly. Plus I enjoy the undermanned, under prepared side of things a little more than the ready to kick your teeth in party.

Rhys has his flaws too--I'll probably rewrite at some point because now that I look at it Rhys seems overrepresented as a good guy and I don't want that.

Anyway anyone can be on any side they want. Hell Kaze wants to be a barbarian from the north, and he can do that.

EDIT: Now I've presented some other things about Rhys. He's increasing taxes, making prime use of capital punishment, and weakening the power of the guilds (which is equivalent to weakening the workers' unions of today.) Of course he has his reasons, but I'm hoping to present both brothers in the same kind of light.

Eh, I'm wanting to make Carth the "man behind the man" pushing him toward doing what is reasonable necessary, if brutal, in order to secure a better future for the kingdom so that fits me just fine. A little pragmatism and the occasional fear tactic is probably perfectly in line with the narrative I would be interested in seeing. Hell I wouldn't be surprised, depending on the introduction setup, to have Carth stay a minute or two longer and try to reassure Rhys that he is doing the right thing and perhaps even push him toward going further to be better prepared for the onslaught to come. Maybe something along the lines of "I know that doing things like this sickens you, I know you have a good heart but this is the only way. We all must make sacrifices if we are to see our nation survive. You must bare this pain. You you do not do it alone. I'll be here, by your side as I have been since you were a child. Together I will see you become king, a king that Trist... that late King Tristan would have been proud of. You may not be a better man that your brother, but you will be a far greater king than any who have come before you. Of that I swear."

Name: Lord Carth Silvas, Knight of Logres
Age: 41
Appearance:
The first thing that most people notice about Carth is his stature. He stands at a rather impressive 6’5 and without any help from his armor or weapons weighs at least 275lbs. The majority of that is muscle however, one couldn’t help but notice a number of bulges around his stomach, arms and legs from overeating. This blue eyed officer has short, straight brown hair and a well maintained beard to match. His jaw is square, giving him a somewhat blocky look to him that really makes his face seem full. When upon the field of battle, he is adorned in his finest weapons and armor after being called from the capitol to Kingsport when Prince Rhys considered making his bid for the throne. He wears a suit of pale greenish armor with silver-esque steel that covers him from head to hip in plates with chainmail over the exposed parts of his arms, chest and legs along with a light green tunic underneath. On his right arm is a brilliant looking silver bangle with a goat’s insignia pressed upon it, something that anyone in the region might recognize as the Silvis family crest likely marking him as a member of the nobility somehow associated with Duke of Logres, not that it matters too much now. His left arm is encased in a small forearm mounted shield meant to block or bash rather than deflect major attacks like those associated with a kite shield. It can quickly be removed by letting go of the handle and unbuckling the two leather straps. If done on horseback, it can be stored right beside the knight’s left leg. Across Carth’s back is a large, barbarian styled two headed axe held by a number of straps across the spine of his back that can be undone with a single, effective motion using one’s thumb, forefinger and palm. On his left hip dangles a green and leather sheathe, holding a metal mace meant to bruise, shatter and injure rather than cut. When charging upon the field of battle, Carth rides upon a rather large grey horse embezzled with the same silver combined metal that he wears. Lodisa is one of Carth’s dearest companions along with his glorified pack mule at times. In particular, a crossbow dangles on the left side of the horse’s hips alongside a quiver full of arrows, bearing a nice counter weight in the form of a short sword too small to be used in infantry combat. This variety of weapons, armor and equipment makes Carth Silvis a powerful battlemaster of the realm.

Backstory:
Of the people of interest in Kingsport, they know Carth Silvis as the oldest son of Duke Silvis, owner of the Silvis mines and adminant supporter of Prince Rhys even since the boy’s youth. During his career Carth has served in both the national army under the command of his father as a squire, as a knight with a moderate success rate on the field of battle during the previous skirmishes in the past. In the most recently as the protector of Prince Rhys during the barbarian war two years ago. As the eldest child of Duke Seth Silvis, Carth grew up in the palace alongside the royalty. He grew to become a friend to late King Tristan, serving under him in times of war and acted as a loyal supporter, soldier and friend throughout the late king’s entire rule. During that time, due to his family’s loyalties and his personal connection to King Tristan, Carth became the teacher for young Prince Rhys. He taught him how to fight, taught him the essentials of leadership and some suggest planted the first seeds that he would be a much better ruler than his older, more reckless brother. During that time, Rhys and Carth’s son Dio were treated like brothers when they were in the Silvis estates and their friendship has been maintained since.

As is his birthright, Carth is Lord of the Silvis Mines which are a major source of the metal used in local armors known for their durability and a major source of silver which is highly prized by jewelers. His family in its entirety own the blacksmithing shops in Aegis, Brestal, Waveguard, Gloria and Westbridge along with a powerful trading caravan that sends precious metals, jewelry, weapons, armor and iron works to the barbarian lands of Caledonia and the island of Yama. After the previous war, Carth’s father Seth Silvis chose to retire from the world due to his age and left his military position and estates to his son Carth and the ownership of the various businesses to Myrion. During this short time of peace, Carth had a chance to return to beloved Silvis Mines to spend a little more time with his son Dio and his wife Leia, something that they sorely missed during the last brutal war as he had during the times of peace before Logres was pulled into conflict yet again.

Due to the proximity to his estates and being offered his father’s position at Aegis along with serving in the military under the command of Prince Conall before the current conflict arose he had been required to stay in at Aegis Fortress and acted in an official function as one of the knights serving the other brother. He often stayed in his father’s estates in Bristel during the period until a rift began to form between them. While spending most of his days around Aegis, helping to serve as a mentor to the new recruits and to aid in Conall’s military recruitment he often seemed to find reasons to head back to Kingsport in order to see his dear former pupil Rhys.

When the time for the war of succession, Carth was the first to rally to Prince Rhys’s side the day that King Tristan, gods rest his soul, fell ill. Many suspect that one of the driving forces to Prince Rhys choosing to engage in this war, however the truth of this is unknown. However the only thing that is entirely known is the fact that Carth has quickly become one of the most prized soldiers in the Prince’s legions and serves as one of his deputies as a knight of the realm and mentor to many of the young squires. He traveled to Kingsport with little more than his armor, weapons, and horses along with his wife, son and a few servants that would not be immediately missed. Unfortunately though, the rest of his forces chose to stay with Conall’s forces in Aegis but who knows how strong those loyalties truly are since he did train quite a few of them. As well, his parents Seth and Arina along with his Myron brother are all still loyal supporters of Conall due to his policies. In truth, if things were reversed and Carth didn’t care so deeply for Rhys and view him like a son, he probably would be on Conall’s side of the conflict as well. But that is life, so to speak.

Main Weapon 1:Double Headed Axe
Main Weapon 2: Mace
Sub-Weapon 1: Cross Bow
Note: Crossbow only usable on horseback with quiver
Sub-Weapon 2: Short Sword
Note: Only usable when in infantry mode due to it's limited range
Emergency-Weapon 1: Dagger on the side of left boot

(Insert Weapon/Style) Skills:
1. Skilled Veteran: Velocity Shift: After serving as a skirmisher as a squire, heavy infantryman as a soldier and on horseback as a knight, Carth is experienced in a variety of combat styles that he can shift between fairly easily. Rather than developing individual skills, he learned to become as adaptive as possible. When on foot Carth has the ability to wield a barbarian battleaxe with precision, an armor crushing mace or a short, stabbing sword to unleash quick and accurate blows. Alternatively when on horseback, our veteran knight is capable of striking with his mace while charging, using large brutal cleaves using the barbarian axe or to draw out a crossbow to strike at a distance. This variety is his greatest strength.
2. Skilled Veteran: Infantry Offensive Shift: Carth can effectively draw his battleaxe in a single, fluid motion while replacing his previous weapon into it's respective place while releasing a brutal, area wide strike that arcs around him effectively driving back any enemy along with kicking up any debris nearby resulting in a mild distraction. This weakens enemy defenses momentarily and puts them into a more effective position to be struck down in a single blow.
3. Skilled Veteran: Infantry Defensive Shift: When forced to take on a more conservative position by an enemy, Carth returns his battleaxe to it's rightful position in a single, fluid motion releasing a similar outward arc to knock away any incoming blows when on foot to give himself a second to regain control over his mace and shield. When done, he will launch a powerful shield bash creating a small shock wave meant to disrupt the incoming attack and give him superiority in the incoming counterattack.

Hometown: Silvis Mines, just outside of Aegis for what little it is worth now that it is under Prince Conall’s dominion.
Allegiance: Prince Rhys

Marksman
Name: Sir Cadoc Owain, Baronet of House Dyfent
Age: 21
Appearance: Cadoc is 5'9", has short black hair and green eyes, and looks very skinny for his age. Instead of iron plate like most knights wear, Cadoc prefers Leather Armor (reference) to keep a lighter load and to be able to move easier, thus giving him a mobile advantage over others. This armor is colored black and green to match his house's colors (black being the main color with green being the secondary). On his left shoulder he has his house's crest (crest) and from it are 2 cords that go to his right hip, one is black, the other green.
Backstory: The exact beginnings of House Dyfent have always been shrouded in mystery due to the library holding records of their history being burnt in a fire, but rumors still persist. The only certainty of its origins are that the House became nobles by holding a vital choke point during a war, not the War with the Northerners, but a much older one, by establishing a wall of Pikesman that the enemy could not penetrate. From that point, all that is known of this Minor Nobility House is that at some point they acquired a curse that would plague them even to present times. Some say that the curse was gained from the House wronging a witch, or perhaps marrying one after being charmed. A new theory has been spoken of between scholars however, stating that it is actually a rare type of hereditary disease found only in House Dyfent. Regardless of what it actually is, Cadoc was born with the curse as well and after surviving a near death experience at birth, he led a mostly normal life. The nature of the curse made Cadoc seem almost like a victim of malnutrition and he is quite jittery, but when in battle he is quick, reactive, and able to keep enemies at a distance with his polearms. The problem with his enhanced speed and reflexes in battle however is that he finds it hard to calm down after battle since his heart rate doesn't slow down easily and adrenaline still is flowing. The result of this is that after fights, he feels very light headed and the only way he can find to prevent this from happening is to seek more fights which only delays the problem and if he does this too much, his heart becomes tired and slows down at such a high rate that he actually passes out. Being only in training while the war was occurring with the North, he didn't participate which left him with mixed feelings about the two brothers vying for the throne. He did find it somewhat dishonorable that Rhys essentially stole the throne from Conall, but given what he has done with his power already, Cadoc thinks maybe it is for the best that Rhys is on the throne, thus he decided to fight for him in the coming war as a representative for House Dyfent.
Main Weapon: German Halberd with Family Crest on the flat of the axe portion. (straight and angled slightly forward blade, not curved inwards)
Sub-Weapon 1: Bec de Corbin (reference)
Sub-Weapon 2: Stilleto (reference)

Polearm/Curse Skills:

1. Disarm Maneuver: Using either the spike on the top of the polearm or a specialized disarming fluke, Cadoc is skilled in blocking, disarming, and counter-attacking, all in quickly one after the other.
2. The Curse of House Dyfent: Cadoc is underweight, has heart problems, shaking/jittery hands, and has difficulty recovering directly after battles. During battles however, he has quicker reflexes and moves faster due to his heart beating much faster and spreading adrenaline easily.
3. Dismount Maneuver: Cadoc uses a hook or some other part of his polearm to dismount people if they are mounted on a horse and he is on land.

Hometown: Cymru

Name: Tyrion Stark
Age: 21
Appearance: Tyrion Stark is a tall man with a lean appearence brought on by years of rigorous training and hard months of travel. His hair is a dark shade of brown, and falls down around his head and face about half-way to his shoulders. His eyes are green, and his face is clean-shaven. On duty in the castle, Tyrion can usually be seen wearing a full suit of black plate mail armor including a helm that hides his face when the visor is down. He always wears a longsword at his side. When not on duty, Tyrion often still wears parts of his armor, such as the gauntlet for his sword hand, pauldrons, and the greaves. Beneath his armor, he wears a plain brown tunic , tan pants, and a dark green cloak over them.

Backstory: Despite his high-ranking position, Tyrion does not come from a priviledged background that most would expect. His family were simple folk living in the 'poor' district of Kingsport. Despite living in that part of the city, they weren't so poor themselves. Tyrion's father was a blacksmith, so he was constantly working to provide gear to that of the garrisons around the town so that the guards and Knights would be equipped. Thanks to that, they always had enough money to eat. Having a father who worked in his particular trade, Tyrion saw more than his fair share of Knights growing up. The young boy idolized these people, who could wear such beautiful armor, be admired by so many, and live in the richer part of town. Tyrion spent a lot of his free time dreaming of what life was like on the other side of those walls, and what it would be like to become a Knight.

But like so many others, Tyrion grew up and put aside such childish notions. He knew his chances of ever reaching so lofty a goal were slim to none, so he followed in his father's footsteps for a time, and attempted to become a blacksmith. But that career wasn't really for him, and upon turning 18, he decided that if he couldn't be a Knight, he could at least be a soldier in the army and earn some real money. So he enlisted, against his family's wishes. He didn't see the danger. Afterall, the kingdom had been mostly peaceful ever since the conquest of Yamajima. What could go wrong?

Two years later, Tyrion found out. Sent North as part of a regiment of soldiers that Tyrion thought was just a simple show of force to help show the North who was still in charge, Tyrion quickly found himself in the middle of a savage battle against a large group of barbarians lying in ambush. It was the first battle Tyrion had ever been in, and unlike the stories, it was quite hectic. It was all the boy could do to tell who was on his side and who was against him. The battle was long, and seemed to last for several days. But soon the King's forces prevailed, and the leader of the ambush party was killed during battle, and to everyone's surprise, it was the greenhorn Tyrion who had struck the blow, saving his commanding officer in the process.

Tyrion was praised as a hero of valor and strength, and for his deeds he received a promotion. Upon returning to Kingsport though, Tyrion requested a transfer out of the main body of the army and to the Castle Guard. After such a fierce and bloody battle, he wanted to try something that wasn't so bad for his health. Being closer to his family again would be nice too. Since Tyrion had won some favor for his actions during the battle, it was allowed, and soon all the boy had to worry about was remembering which route to take on his patrols and trying not to get lost in the Castle. Even when King Tristain died of illness and Rhys named himself King, Tyrion stayed loyal to his duty.

But it seemed Fate had more in store for Tyrion than that. About three months after the trasfer, Tyrion found himself wandering around on patrol near the King's Chambers in the dead of night. He hated to admit it, but he was lost. He knew it might get him in trouble, but he decided to stop and ask the Guards protecting the King's Chamber how to get back on his route, but when he came upon them, he was shocked to find them dead! Apparently they had been given a slow acting poison during their last meal without their knowing. Bursting in the King's Chamber, Tyrion came upon four assasins who had come to kill the King in his sleep.

Despite being outnumbered, Tyrion threw himself at the would-be killers, and fought them tooth and nail. The King woke up during the struggle, and called for help, and by the time help did arrive, Tyrion had killed 3 of the assasins. The last was quickly apprehended, and revealed to be sent by some of the nobility who were staunchly against Rhys's breach of law and tradition. It seemed that Tyrion had inadverntently spoiled their plans.

If Tyrion had been popular before, it was nothing compared to now. His name was being spread throughout the entire city as the man who had saved the new king's life! This was a man who could be trusted, a proud and powerful warrior who would do whatever it took to protect the King. Tyrion did his best to dissuade people, he was no Hero, he had simply just been in the right place in the right time. Or maybe the wrong place. He had dreamed of this kind of adoration as a boy, but now that he had it, he wasn't so sure it was all that great.

As a reward for his noble efforts, Tyrion was made a Knight and given ownership of some small lands out in the plains (really nothing compared to the fiefs of other lords, but still an incredible increase to his wealth and station), and as if having his dream come true wasn't enough, he was named one of the Royal Bodyguards for the King! Tyrion couldn't exactly refuse, so he was forced to accept. Thinking back on it, he can still hardly believe that things have happened this way. But they have. And now, war approaches yet again.

Main Weapon: Longsword
(Optional)Sub-Weapon 1: Shield
(Optional)Sub-Weapon 2:

Skills
1. Crescent Strike: A mighty spin attack best suited for combatting large numbers of enemies, but useful for attacking single opponents as well.
2. Shield Toss: After much training, Tyrion has taught himself how to throw his shield with pin-point accuracy, spinning it in such a way that it may bounce and be able to hit multiple targets, and even return to his hand assuming no outside factors get in the way. How can he do such a thing you may ask? None of your business.

Main Weapon: Spear
Sub-Weapon 1: N/A
Sub-Weapon 2: N/A

Bulwark: The primary function of a shield is to deflect incoming attacks, and Austin shows this like no other. Reactions with the shield arm are very quick, much faster than that of the other hand. One of the best things about a shield is that its impossible to disarm, and very unlikely to shatter.

Shield Tactics: Although shields are made to defend, they can also be used to attack. The blunt trauma alone is enough to knock a man off his feet and cause some good damage, with the aid of small one inch steel spikes however, that damage becomes severe. When using glancing blows against weapons with a shield, the force is enough to knock a veteran's weapon out of hand.

Impaler: With one mighty thrust, Austin attempts to run an enemy through with his lance before kicking them off of it.

Name:
Reginald "Red" Waveborn
Age:
20

Appearance:
Despite his name, Red's hair is dark, almost to the point of looking black. It is kept cropped, close to his head, so it can never get in his way. His eyes are similarly colored, and sometimes, people are thrown off by just how dark Red's eyes truly are. His skin has obviously seen its fair share of sunshine, and scars can be seen on his face and biceps. Though Red is only of average height, he boasts a build that would make any man jealous. Lean muscle covers every inch of his body, due to years of rigorous training designed to form himself into the perfect weapon.

The only real armor Red has is a steel breastplate that covers his chest. The metal is thick and durable, but relatively lightweight, and the straps that secure it to his torso do not hamper Red's movements in any way. Beneath this, his chest is bare, and his biceps are constantly visible. A few small plates protect vital spots on his back, overlapping each other so as not to leave any weak points in his armor. Red's gauntlets, described below, cover his arms almost to the elbow, without actually encasing the joint. He wears greaves that protect only his thighs, made of lightweight steel plates that won't hamper his movement. Leather boots protect the man's feet, and a leather belt hangs from his waist to hold Red's meager possessions.

Backstory:
Far to the South on the island of Yamajima, terrible storms rolling in from the sea are a common occurrence. Wreckage from ships caught in the storms would often wash up along Yamajima's shores, but for the most part, no one thought anything of it. One night though, long ago, during one of the worst storms Yamajima had ever seen, something truly out of the ordinary happened. A woman, out searching for her young son in the rain, heard the wails of a child. Thinking she had found her child, the woman rushed towards the sounds, hoping against hope that her search was over. Sadly, the woman never found her son that night. What she did find, was an infant, not even a year old, soaking wet and floating on a scrap of debris barely big enough to support his weight. Knowing that she couldn't leave him out to die, the woman saved the child, and took him home. Apart from the wood she had found him floating on, the baby had only one other thing in his possession: A small locket, clutched in his tiny palm, with the name "Reginald" engraved on the front. So it was that Reginald Waveborn came to Yamajima.

The boy lived a solitary life. As an outsider, he never had any friends, save for the woman who had saved him, a woman that Reginald came to call Mother. She alone seemed to care for him despite his different eyes and skin; she viewed him as if he were the child she had lost all those years ago. He knew what it was to be loved, and this alone is what saved Reginald from growing into a cold, hateful man. The other citizens of Yamajima resented him for what his people had done to them, and often, Reginald would come home at night covered in bruises and cuts from the other young boys on the island. Put in this kind of situation, it was no surprise when Reginald decided he needed to learn how to defend himself. No older than 8, Reginald visited one of Yamajima's dojos for the very first time.

The next ten years of his life passed in a blur. Reginald was made aware of 'martial arts' and the uses of close-quarters-combat. Dedicating himself entirely to the practice of combat, Reginald made leaps and bounds in his training, quickly passing up students who had learning for years. The master of the dojo took special interest in Reginald, admiring the boy's spirit and drive. Soon, the boy was taking private lessons, learning techniques for attacking and defending against armed and armored opponents. His sensei told him of lands to the north, where men wrapped themselves in iron and poked each other with long metal sticks, all in the name of a man who sat on a large chair in a great stone castle. He warned Reginald of the dangers these men posed, and how they thought their weapons put them at an advantage. Regi-kun his sensei had once told him, Of all the things I teach you, remember this above all: Your body is your greatest weapon. Sharpen your mind, and harden your fists. Hone your strikes, and temper your resolve. When you have perfected yourself, no one will be able to defeat you, regardless of how well-armed they may be.

Eventually, Reginald reached a point where there was nothing more his master could teach him. With his sensei's blessing, Reginald chartered passage on a boat headed north, in search of new lessons and new opponents. Kingsport was like nothing Reginald had ever seen, but by observing and watching those around him, the man was quickly able to familiarize himself with Northern culture, and in a matter of weeks it was impossible to tell him apart from any other citizen of Kingsport. Taking on the name "Red," Reginald instantly started looking for work as a mercenary, taking on any job he could to earn a living in this strange new land. For a while, times were hard, and more than a few nights passed with Red sleeping on the streets. But as he did more and more small-time jobs for merchants and travellers, Red's reputation grew, and other, more wealthy clients started enlisting his services. It was in this way that Red found himself serving as an escort to a rather large merchant caravan headed from Kingsport to Gloria. He was only one among perhaps a dozen well-armed fighters, but none of them were prepared for the raid. A band of raiders at least three times the size of their caravan washed over their defenses like a wave, leaving none alive. Sheer dumb luck saved Red and nothing else; during the chaos a horse died when a spear was driven through its heart, and unfortunately, Red happened to be standing right where it wanted to fall. Red spent the night unconscious, under a dead horse carcass, and it's the only reason he's still alive.

The next morning, Red woke up bruised, battered, and more sore than he had ever been in his life. For a while, he walked along the road, dazed and confused, until a small band of outriders from the Aegis came across him. After explaining to them what had happened, Red agreed to head back to their stronghold so he could receive medical attention. The man was so exhausted, he didn't notice the soldiers eying him up and down as he climbed into their cart. His gauntlets, his well-muscled form... It was obvious this man was a fighter. Red relaxed, happy that he was finally able to get some rest. All around him though, Conall's outriders kept a tight grip on their weapons...

Main Weapon:
Spiked Gauntlets
A pair of custom-made gauntlets with thick, three inch metal spikes protruding from each knuckle. The gauntlets are far heavier than those used for basic protection, with reinforced metal plating covering literally every surface, especially the palms and fingers. The gauntlets extend to the elbow, and provide superior protection against all manner of modern weaponry.

Skills:
Fluidity
In battle, Red moves like water, flowing in and around his enemies' attacks in an attempt to close in on his target. He is a master of redirection, using his opponent's force against them to make their own strikes miss. Red's main focus against an armed foe is to disarm them immediately. Whether this is by removing the weapon from their hand, disabling their hand or destroying their weapon, Red will always try to turn an armed opponent, into an unarmed one. Through Red's fighting style is extremely aggressive, and he is fond of getting close to his targets, he will rarely make the first strike, choosing instead to wait for his foe to attack, so he can retaliate with a swift and brutal counter.
Flurry
Red fires off a quartet of lightning fast punches, all focused on a single point. The force alone is enough to dent steel, and combined with Red's spikes, more than enough to puncture the thickest armor.
Barrage
Red unleashes a high speed salvo of powerful punches utilizing all the force in his body. Rotating at the waist and shoulders, while pushing off with all his leg strength, Red comes at an opponent from both sides, battering them like a pair of rams. One downside to this move is that Red needs to build up momentum before initiating, and if his momentum is halted, his blows will lose some of their strength. ((Dempsey Roll))

Yay Character sheet? XD

Name: Drogo
Age: 27

Appearance:

Drogo is a rather stout man, standing at five feet and four inches tall and weighing in at one hundred and sixty three pounds. Atop his head sits a strip of black hair in a three inch wide mohawk, said mohawk only rises about an inch from his scalp. Dark brown, nearly black, eyes peer out from under a heavy brow with thick eyebrows. Covering quite a bit of his face is a thick black beard that's surprisingly well trimmed and neat. His skin is darkly tanned from the bright northern sunlight and lack of shade. His skin also has silver strips crisscrossing all over, mainly on his torso and arms. Finally he has a large tattoo on his chest, stretching from shoulder to shoulder. The tattoo is a set of draconic looking wings connecting to a northern styled round shield.

Typical leather and hide garb of a barbarian, as the southerners would say. But to him it's warrior clothing. Sitting atop his head is a steel helm lined with fur on the inside and has a thick ruff of it along the edge. Adorning his torso is a thick hide vest that's normally left open. Fur lines the inside and runs along the edges of the sleeves and has two thick mats on the shoulders. Teeth and claws of large predators decorate his vest. Thick insulated leather pants protect his legs from the cold and harsh earth. Covering his feet are a pair of leather boots, oddly enough the toes of the boots are curved up a bit and slightly pointed. Lastly he has two iron bangles, one for each bicep, that have various carvings of animals in them.

Backstory:
Drogo was born to the typical barbarian tribe of the north. From the time they could hold a weapon the children in his nomadic village were taught how to fight. But not just any way, they were more instinctual in combat. Letting their senses run wild and their gut feelings rule how they fought. Surprisingly fighting in such a manner made them survive longer against other tribes. But something strange happened one day.

Apparently the chiefs of the tribes had a meeting of sorts and things began changing. There was less fighting between the tribes and every male seemed to be migrating south towards The Throttle. He was amongst the group since he was already battle hardened and easily of age(him being a low to mid-twenty man). The climate change and change of scenery fascinated him as they marched on the southern lands.

Most of the trip was a blur, but once the combat started...well everything sort of blanked out aside from how the pale men of the south fought. They liked to stay rooted in their dwellings of stone and wood, making it difficult to actually get to them. But in the end the dwellings fell and the northern men moved further south deeper into Logres. But the march ended, somehow the big chief of the south gathered enough men to drive his people back. Back to the mountains, then the Throttle, then back to their own lands.

He didn't really have hard feelings towards the south. They won for the time being while his side lost. It was how battle worked. But there was always a next time when they were more vulnerable. Unlike most of his tribe he stayed near the Throttle to keep an eye on the south so he could relay information to his chief. He heard their king died and the two sons were fighting over the crown. This amused him, but to him they were going about it the right way.

Boredom got the better of him and he decided to pop in on this little war. Finding the younger son to be to....feminine he went to join Conall, the older warrior son.

Main Weapon: Battle Cleaver
Spoiler: click to toggle

(Optional)Sub-Weapon 1: Bearded Hand Axe
Spoiler: click to toggle

(Optional)Sub-Weapon 2: Bone-handled Knife
Spoiler: click to toggle

Beast Skills:

  • Wolves Agility: As the name suggests he has great agility. Having such high agility, from constantly traveling around his homeland, helps him outmaneuver people on the go and sometimes even in combat. Depending on the terrain anyway, since he's used to the rougher parts of the world.

  • Vorg Fang: A technique where a downward blow is immediately followed by an upper blow from below with a second weapon. Even though it hits two different targets, it's designed so that the force of the impact travels to a specific point inside the body.

  • Cornered Beast: When seemingly backed into a corner, whether that being a literal thing or just sustaining a lot of damage, his attacks get wilder and more powerful. The wild attacks become nearly unpredictable, making it harder to defend or counter. Adrenaline flows freer given the anger and fear factor when he's like this, making him tire slower and his attacks strength to rise to new heights.

Hometown: Nomad, doesn't have a hometown.
Allegiance: Highest Bidder

Name: Allison Noir
Age: 23
Appearance: Allison is a tall, muscled woman with shoulder length black hair and an ordinary face. Her weapons are a little worse for the wear, and her armor is a dull, dirty silver color. Whatever coat of arms may have once been on her armor and shield has long since faded away, leaving behind only a myriad of dark blue lines. Underneath she wears simple traveling clothes that consist of a plain, ill-fitting white shirt and a pair of dirty cloth pants. Her weary blue eyes and uninterested demeanor have often marked her as arrogant, but in reality she is just increasingly tired. Spending most of the past several years traveling will do that to a person.

Backstory: Allison was born into a happy family, and for most of her life was unaware of her family's dark past. Her father had been excommunicated when he married Allison's mother, and had been stripped of his lands. He fled to the mountains surrounding The Aegis, where he found a small secluded village where he and his new family could live.

Then, in a sudden calamity in Allison's life, the village was destroyed by marauders and her family was killed. She took her father's weapons and armor, which he had taken with him when he left, and set out in search of bandits to kill. However, life as woman was hard, and even more so as a warrior. She was often laughed at in bars when she entered with her sword at her hip, and once she had found and killed the bandits who killed her family, she decided to become a mercenary.

Often traveling in the company of merchants, she began to learn the intricacies involved in politics.

Main Weapon: Longsword
(Optional)Sub-Weapon 1: Shield
(Optional)Sub-Weapon 2: Glaive- A long polearm, much like a lance, only with an axe-like head. It's lightweight make it easy to handle, however it lakes the reach and stopping power of traditional spears, and is more suited for slashing motions than thrusts.

Skills
1. Natural Swordsman- Allison is a natural with the weapons she uses, and is capable of more complicated manuevers such as ripostes and sudden reverses that would take a less-experienced warrior years to master. Note, that she still has almost almost 7 years of experience, and is by no means inexperienced.

2. Athleticism- Allison's early life was by no means easy, even in comparison to the last 7 years. Before she wore armor, Allison was already well-muscled from years of hard work and her forays around the village, climbing onto buildings and jumping between rooftops. As a result, she is well-coordinated and can climb more easily than others, albeit when she isn't wearing armor.

3.
Hometown: Osciliath

Osciliath is a small town in the heart of the mountains west of Westbridge, and serves as a waypoint for travelers wishing to pass through the southern edge of the mountain range.

Mage
Name: Erik Lyondol
Age: 25
Appearance: Erik's appearance is the definition of average. Loose brown hair reaches his ears, framing a brown-eyed square face that people usually have trouble recalling. Height and build are also average. Even his clothing is average, consisting of boots, nondescript pants and shirt, fingerless leather gloves and a flowing traveler's cloak.

Backstory: In an unnamed village on the outskirts of the nightwood, a woman died giving birth to a child. With the father having died in the king's war, the child was to be left in the woods. Instead, a visiting stranger volunteered to take the child and raise him. The villagers agreed, and the man departed that same day. Upon arriving in the capital, the stranger, who was in truth spymaster of the king, left the child with a nurse until the age of three. Once the boy, now called Erik, was old enough to walk and speak, the spymaster returned and took the boy into his own care. From this early age Erik began to learn the art of espionage, which he picked up quickly. Seeing potential in his pupil, the spymaster took the boy on a twelve-year journey around the world. Upon this journey Erik became acquainted with various cultures, and with their various methods of combat. And as he traveled he began to create an information network under the careful supervision of his master.

When the country was plunged into war Erik went into the field and excelled in his work. As the war raged on he found himself wishing only for it to end, having lost friends and comrades. But fate had other plans, and his hopes were dashed when a second war broke out between the two princes. Upon hearing of this, Erik, like so many others of the king's spies, disappeared.

Main Weapon: Main Gauche - Being a lefty, Erik uses his parrying dagger as a full-out weapon.
(Optional)Sub-Weapon 1: Fists - Erik is an expert of hand-to-hand combat, though he defaults to his Main Gauche due to the risk of fighting unarmed against an armed opponent.
(Optional)Sub-Weapon 2: Chain Whip - Six feet of fine, yet durable chain that is not easily broken.

Spy Skills:
1. Nerve Strike: Any strike against bare or clothed skin will temporarily disable the struck area. Armor must be punctured.

2. Contortion Acrobatics: Years of training has taught Erik to become exceptionally nimble and flexible. He more than capable of eluding and escaping from even the most dire of situations, whether it be through evasion, deception, subtlety, or twisting his body into horrifying positions. These quick, erratic movements cause his cape to flow around him, making his movements difficult to track.

3. Blade Catcher: A technique acquired in Yamajima, Erik can catch an opponent's blade with his bare hands to stop an attack. Useless against blunt weapons, thrown weapons and arrows.

Hometown: Unnamed village outside the nightwood
Allegiance: Rhys
