For those who remember playing this forum game, it is an RPG system that allows users to build their own characters and fight each other in turn-based combat. Youwould pick up your race, class and name for your character, then level grind in the Battlegrounds. You can also take on Quests from people who have their own story to tell. This time, however, the game will have a new facelift. After this new upgrade, there will be a new option for the GM to create custom Races and Classes, as well as a lenghty list of other new stuff! But, at the same time, there will be a list of removed features that is just as lenghty. But those features are surely something that you will not miss. Now then, as a messenger from the developers (friends of mine), I will need your attention in something. It seems that the developer has fell into the figurative writer's block. And he needs an idea on how to do a system for making "Branching Quests". The main idea of a Branching Quest is the different outcomes that can come after accepting one. And this is were you come in: We need some suggestions on how to make one work in the current version we have in this board, so that they can build on that idea and expand it. OK, so... *places Suggestion Box* Anyone? |

Wait, so do they need coders, or do they just need suggestions how what they should add in? I'm slightly confused. |

No, no. They are the coders. They only need a suggestion about how to make them work in the current system. You know, because everything in the current system is 100% Monster Hunting. Item collecting as a quest goal will be added, BTW. And so will targeting members of this board, heheh! |

Well, how about one is given a choice of what to kill and the prizes given depends on what is killed. Or the more enemies you kill, the better the prize. |

Making choices through questions, you mean? Also, the whole kill as many as you can for a better prize, I don't think that would work, because that would at least require a time limit or something similar. |

Oh! How about doing missions that require you to kill monsters, and in the end, you fight a boss? Or missions that require you to fight certain bosses, similar to Marks. |

That sounds like a good idea. But how would you set it up? As for that second one, I don't understand it. Similar to a "Mark" in what way? |

1. I like the idea of killing two different kinds of monsters to create branches. Not all the quests need to branch but they could be as simple as "either kill 8 of these or only 3 of these" 2. Another way could be "kill 5 of these and end the quest, you get X quest. Kill 10 of these and you get Y quest. Kill 12 and Boss monster, you get Z quest." 3. More branches could be done but would require more monsters to be made. (ex: kill one of 3 bosses, get one of 3 different quests. kill all 3, get a different quest.) I kind of tried to make something like that, but all i made was quest chains that messed with your reputation. And you could do both chains, soooo....yeah. |
