Description: The National Anthem of the United States, or also known as The Star Spangled Banner, started as a poem penned by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812, which became popular to sing to the melody of the popular "The Anacreontic Song," which was composed by Englishman John Stafford Smith. It wasn't until 1917 that a "standardized" version was composed jointly at the behest of the federal government by Walter Damrosch, Will Earhart, Arnold J. Gantvoort, Oscar Sonneck and John Philip Sousa. The tune with the lyrics would not become the official national anthem until 1931. I don't, however, know who arranged this version, even though I've heard it before. It's more orchestral than the "standard" marching band Sousa-esque sound that is usually heard. Positioning: Simple Positioning: Default Example: Link to the midi since I cannot find a live version of this arrangement: http://www.prairiefrontier.com/pfcards1/music/patriotic/usanthem.mid Including the original "1814" Smith version for kicks since I can't find the source arrangement. Also, cursed tenors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvVtFD9Na0I Parts (1 of 1): Edited by Lifimun, Jul 2 2014, 10:05 PM.
