Doesn't seem to be too much activity here ... so lets liven everything up a bit! What theories do you have about the contents and conclusion of the fourth and final book, based on what you've seen forshadowed, guessed by others, came to you in a dream, came to you in a vision, happened in another medium with which Eragon has borrowed from, etc.? ... well? |

This may be stating the obvious, but I believe Murtagh is going to die, moments after he frees himself from Galbatorix in order to save Eragon. And his last words will be something unbelievably sappy about how great Eragon is. |

Well, I heard this somewhere else and while chances are slim that it will happen, it would bring me no end in glee if it did happen. Oromis said that his sword's gem, Naegling, had enough magic in it to lift a mountain. Now if we look at the last thing Oromis taught Eragon, teleportation, we learned that it takes an equal amount of energy to move a pebble than it would, say a boulder. So what happens if we add these things together? Lifting Mountain + Teleportation = Mountain Teleported to Uru'baen Epic win there?

I see what you did there...

My question is, "Why not 'teleport' a pebble into Galby's head? Didn't Oromois say something about the spell passing through wards and such?" I could be wrong, it's been a while since I read the book. |

Yeah, that wards thing is starting to ring a bell. I wish I had my book around, but when I get it back, I'll be sure to check that out.

Though I do like the idea of smashing Uru'baen. But then Galby will be all, "I can lift a mountain with my brain tied behind my back!" |

There was a superhero series, Wild Cards, with a character who would do such things. Popinjay, I think his name was. And he didn't even bother with pebbles. He'd teleport AIR into your HEART. |

mm, that would be effective, wouldn't it? I'm going to dance around in circles and cheer if Murtagh STAYS evil. Because authors almost never do anything like that--if the character is coerced or possessed or what have you, they're still Good At Heart, so they have to be redeemed according to the laws of Amateur Plot Resolution. |

Teleporting AIR into the HEART, eh? I like that... a lot. I think Murtagh should kill Eragon and then Galby kill Murtagh for killing Eragon. It would totally waste the entire series, but I would be satisfied. |
