As Leila brought the poor little old girl inside and showed off with her magic to clean and dry her right up, Remy shook his head with a laugh. "You goan scare the bebe ((Sweetheart/Darling)) off before we even get her all straightened up yea?" He called out before waving as Leila introduced him to the young thing. "Doan you go worrying now though, bebe. Leigh there goan take good care of you. Dis here the best place to be when you havin' a bad day." He comforted her as he offered her a warm, friendly smile. |

Leila rolled her eyes, "Beck moi tchew, Rem." She smirked, knowing her pronunciation was getting better "I haven't managed to scare you off yet....no matter how much I try." She sighed playfully before leaning on the bar by the girl. "He's right though. You ended up in a good spot for a crappy night. Should be relatively slow night, feel free to wait out the storm. Wouldn't want more of your stuff to soak..." She added with a shrug as she poured herself a glass. The drink itself was bright green and almost looked like it was smoking. No telling what she'd put in it.... |

Tripp barely had time to register the order of events, much less react to them, and they were over. Her clothes were dry, her hair was dry... her sketches and everything inside the bag was still ruined, but the woman had effectively made it so that the embarrassing moment had never happened. Well... almost never happened. Another quick glance upward at the taller woman found Tripp curious about her. Well, she was a magic user, that was for sure and a good one at that. Her dark eyes passed over the interior of the bar and she could see the appeal in it - it was rustic, but well maintained. It was a bit of a relic - it didn't have the new-age flair that most of the downtown places had. It was almost...homey in a way. Tripp paused on the man at the end of the bar, Remy, and unknowingly stared at his mouth as the words came out. She had never heard anyone talk like that before! It almost sounded...well...it sounded like he was almost speaking another language. "Um....I'm...Tripp," she said after an exceedingly long pause between Leila's question, Remy's reassurance, and her own reply. "And um, thanks. For helping me out." Another pause as she continued to grip her bag as though it were a briefcase holding state secrets or something. "I won't stay long, I don't want to take up room or anything. The, um, next bus is in like...a little bit." |

Leila looked back to Tripp over the rim of her glass as she took a sip. "Nonsense, love, you stay as long as you need. I doubt we'll get much traffic tonight...and I doubt even more this storm is going to let up at any point." she shrugged, nudging the menu towards her. "Sit...let yourself relax. I was serious about the offer on food and drink. If anything, chef makes the best onion rings this side of the tracks." She grinned, taking another sip of her cocktail. ---------------------- Ennis decided to head home and order in since, unfortunately, he hadn't had a chance to go shopping this week. He nodded his head to the man at the front desk, trying to ignore the hipster who seemed impacient by the desk. He never quite understood the long hair thing. Finally he sighed, "You lost?" He asked rather flatly, quirking his eyebrow up. While he looked like he belonged in the building, Ennis knew he didn't. Aside from the tired and almost anxious look on the face of the old man at the desk, he'd made a point of knowing everyone in the building. This guy was not one of them... |

Remy chuckled at the poor frazzled girl who seemed to be struggling to put everything together. He watched as she stared at his mouth and knew it was because she had never heard his accent before. Most around here never had- not many were brave enough to venture into the bayou down South. "I'd listen to Leigh bebe. She goan do you right she is i promise." Remy assured her. "You doan need to be going back out in that weather." |

Leila chuckled lightly, shaking her head a bit as Remy tried to assure the frazzled young woman that they were trustworthy folks. She'd lost count of how many times she'd peeled his Cajun ass off the sidewalk or just made him presentable enough so Jerome wouldn't kick him out. It was a weird...friendship? Mutually beneficial arrangement? Meh, whatever it technically was it worked. She really hoped he didn't get overly sloshed that night. She was serious in her offer, and she'd rather not have him sloppy....that was how her relic broke. Leila looked back to Tripp then as she sipped at her cocktail, effectively blowing the smoke through her nose like a dragon. "So what brings you this lovely portion of hell anyway, love? University?" |

Tripp was quiet as she eventually pulled herself up onto the bar chair, hanging her bag off the back of it. She was half a bar down from Remy, which she thought was sufficient space between her and a strange man with a strange voice, but the redhead was still close by. She understood she was being friendly, but ...she still hadn't gotten used to having people in her space yet. Even after a year of living here. She glanced at the menu but didn't reach for it - she really didn't want to put the woman out more. She had learned that free things weren't really free per se. The cost of the food and drink would probably come out of the woman's pay for the night or something. "Um, water would be fine. And uh, yes, I'm a student." Should she have said that? Telling strangers where she was from? "I'm doing a study on empty space and there isn't much of that around Uptown so... I thought I'd come down here. I read on the net that there were some empty lots here that the city hasn't sold yet." --- Casimir nearly ignored the inquiry, but after a lengthy pause, he looked up from his phone with a smile as he pointed to himself. "Me? Lost? No, not at all. Wait, are you Harry?" He tucked his phone into the pocket of his tailored slacks. "If you are, you're extremely late to our appointment. I understand traffic delays and weather and such, but honestly." He flipped his wrist to look at his watch. "Forty minutes is very unprofessional, especially without some kind of notification. Nevertheless, I still want to see the apartment. You said it was a two bedroom, correct?" Slipping his hands into both pockets of his slacks, he approached Ennis with a friendly smile despite the earlier admonishment. "Hope you're ready to make me a good offer for being late." |

"Ah-ah!" Remy exclaimed with a grin over at Tripp's direction. "Ol' Remy knew you was a University student. I called that right, I did. Now what's dis empty space study dat you are doing dat is goan cause you to do a coo-yon ((foolish)) thing like coming here on your own? Pretty little bebe like yourself shouldn't be coming to this side of town alone." He scolded her gently as he looked over at Leila. Unlike the pretty redhead with whom he had quite the interesting relationship with, he could tell that this pretty little student didn't have what it took to be travelling around here alone. While he was more than sure that Leigh could take care of herself in case something happened, this little peeshwank ((little person!)) didn't stand a chance. He was surprised that this was the worst that had happened to her out here- this weather tended to bring out the worst this city had to offer. |

Leila nodded her head a little as Remy put in his two cents, “Rem you’re gonne be the one to scare her off ya loonie…” She teased him, looking back to Tripp, “He’s wonderin’ why you’re out here by yourself, in case you need a translator.” She winked, “I mean, I’m all for a girl taking on the city but…maybe just in daylight hours? Also, if you’re looking for a nice empty lot try 85th and 7th. It’s close enough to up town that ya won’t find too much trouble. Beautiful overgrowth though.” She added with a shrug as the smoke wafted out her nose again with another sip. She tapped her fingers on her glass, pouring her a glass of water as she spoke again. “Before you scoot, see me. I’ve got somethin’ that would keep ya safe should you want to wander down this way after nightfall…and seriously, pick something to eat.” Leila rested against the bar between the two of them, glancing idly at the clock. 'Bout an hour till showtime but like she'd told them she doubted it would be very busy. People tended to mind their own on nights like this. |

The expression on Ennis’s face didn’t change even as the man approached. “If you’re waiting for Harry Kingston you’re better off looking in the nearest bar. Man hasn’t been sober for more than an hour in over a decade. Whoever recommended him to you as a realtor obviously doesn’t like you very much. Or someone flat out played you.” He answered simply, looking briefly over the man apparently looking to move in. He thought it over for a minute, wondering if this was really worth delaying his dinner longer. “Mr. Graves, is everything okay?” Ennis looked to the older man behind the desk. Leo had been here longer than most of the residents. “It’s fine, Leo. I have this…” He looked back to Man-Bun, “Look, I’m thinking you’re looking into the apartment on the 5th floor? I can show you the place, and give you the name of an actual realtor if interested.” He said simply enough, pulling the collar down on his jacket since it was no longer shielding him from rain and wind. |
