"Something the matter," Alek asked, looking over to her. He was too in tune with her after the years to miss the distraction in her voice. He found himself momentarily distracted by her... she looked very pretty in the daylight, the sun streaming down on her red hair as it dipped in and out of the clouds. She had a new outfit on and he found it was a little more... covered... than before. Not that he had any say in what she wore, he just didn't like the way men's eyes drifted over her.

Millicent blinked before shaking her head, looking to him with a small smile. "No...I thought I saw something flitting through the forest brush but I don't see it now. I highly doubt its cause for concern..." She assured him, her voice still having a small distant edge to it. She had a very strong urge to wander off the path to try and find whatever it was. Luckily, she had enough of a mind to stay put.

"But it IS stupid." Asta argued with a small frown. "Missing a person doesn't bring them back. They still do what they have to do. Besides, nobody can stay in your life forever. It's not possible, so it's pointless to waste time on a stupid emotion." She explained to Randon as she continued to pick at Camulus' mane until he started to bitch at her because she was tugging too hard.

Randon stretched out, sighing happily as his shoulder popped softly. There. Much better. He rested back against a tree, the fire finally roaring as is should. For the middle of the summer the wood here was oddly youthful, making it hard to find good kindling.

Millicent was curled up on a blanket, under Alek's cloak as per usual these days. She was happy to be resting even if she knew Alek would've continued through the night given the chance. She was trying to get her body to wind down, convinced beyond reason her mind was so y ired it was playing tricks on her. Most of the conversation she held on the ride she'd been distracted. Maybe her body needed more rest than she'd initially thought. Mindlessly munching on an apple from Randon, she was flipping through the journal Alek had given her once more, a small smile on her lips.

Asta was curled up in her usual spot with Camulus, her blanket wrapped around her tightly as she snugged into her large stallion. Camulus didn't even seem to notice as he laid there, his tail flicking as he closed his eyes to sleep as well. He was being a lazy horse as he laid there, but Asta didn't seem to mind, not scolding him and getting him to stand up or anything. Instead she merely smiled as she put the blanket over her head to block out any lights or noise.

Aleron was... not quite ready to sleep yet. He had been browsing through one of his books, trying to find a particular spell that he could teach Millicent, trying to find something quiet basic for her. Something that she could use to practice with that was relatively harmless. However, it had been a long couple of days travelling and he could feel himself nodding off on the book, his head slouching forward from where he was leaning against the tree.

To no one's surprise, Alek was on guard first. He sat near to the fire, knees up and sheathed sword resting against his shoulder. They hadn't gotten nearly as far as he'd hoped... but they weren't soldiers. That was something he was continually having to remind himself - they were...a princess and two seemingly normal people.

Losing Farron, the hearty blacksmith, was proving to be a little bit more troublesome than he'd thought. She'd been something of a distraction for the pain in the arse, as well as Aleron and Asta. Now, with no one else to bother, Alek had the uncomfortable thought that Randon was likely to get bored and start annoying him again. Not a pleasant thought at all.

Taking a deep breath to try and calm the compulsive need to get moving and get to their destination, Alek looked back over his shoulder at where the princess lay. The fire danced off her face and he could see the slight smile there - she was reading his journal again. He still sort of regretted that decision... "You should get some rest," he called softly. She wasn't far from him.

Randon chuckled as he saw Aleron nodding off into his text. He leaned over with a young branch and nudged his shoulder. "Oye....ye gonna start droolin soon. Think its time ye drifted off, mate..." He teased quietly.

Millicent looked up with a small shrug, "I will. Mind's too wound up and exhausted at the same time. You'd betta not be planning the same stunt you pulled on the way to Bayfeild." She added, looking back to the pages then as she felt her cheeks warm. Though her voice was neutral, her mind had wandered to how the fire lit up his eyes. The way it emphasized the steady stubble on his chin. She really must be tired....

"I'm not," Alek assured her, thinking it may help her sleep knowing he wasn't going to kill himself. "But someone has to take guard and everyone else is exhausted. Come tomorrow, I'll give the post to Aleron once he's fully rested." He paused a bit before switching his sword to the opposite shoulder.

"When I was little, I used to have the hardest time falling asleep," he started, his low voice still a murmur in order to keep from disturbing Asta or Aleron. "My father, when he was home, used to tell me to recite a prayer or a poem over and over again until my mind quieted enough to sleep. Much to my surprise, it worked once I found the right one."

Aleron blinked several times, head popping back up again as he felt something poke him. He looked over at Randon as he ran his hand over his face, his jaw collecting a bit of stubble on it from the days of being on the road and not shaving. The short, coarse hairs were bristling loudly against the callused skin on his hand as he rubbed briskly before removing his hand. "No, I'm not. And I can't sleep yet. I need to find this one spell before I can nod off. It's just about time for Milli to be getting serious in her lessons and this spell would be perfect to start with." He murmured quietly. Asta seemed to be the first asleep out of everyone, and he wanted her to stay that way. She was such a bear if woken up.

Millicent raised a skeptical eyebrow when he said he'd give the duty to Aleron the next night but didn't comment. She paused, though, when his voice dropped off a little. She looked up at him curiously, her hands mindlessly closing the journal. "Really? Which one helps you? Me da always told me to count sheep but...when I focused too much...well sparkly sheep dont exactly make a young girl want to fall asleep faster." She admitted, a sleepy giggle to her voice. He was offering up information about himself. She wasn't going to let him end it so quickly.
