Millicent smiled when she heard he'd already found a bow for her. Something about the fact he'd been in the weapons shop for her didn't surprise her. She followed Alek up to the shop, resisting rolling her eyes as he bowed his head. If they were going to fit in he had to start acting like her equal instead of lower. "Thank you..." She did, however, give him a small smile before heading in.

Her eyes glanced around at the different displays. The pieces were gorgeously handcrafted and she hoped the bow lived up to what the front had to offer. After all, a bow wasn't useful of it was only decorative.

The shop was quite large for a weapons shop. Weapons of all types lined the walls behind massive panes of glass to keep away unwanted thieves.

"Back already?" came a pleasant voice as the shopkeep walked over to them. "This the young lady? Pretty as a princess, y'are! Come, come, yer young gentleman here's picked out the finest of the lot. A rare item I just so happened t'come by this very week in fact! Come along, I've it waiting for you outside." He ushered through through the shop and through a back door where a collection of training dummies on posts and archery targets made of painted hay were waiting.

He walked over and picked up a bow he had resting on the table. He held it out to Millicent with a smile. "Finest piece of work I've ever laid eyes on... man who sold it to me claimed it was crafted by the Sindar. I'm wary to believe outlanders, but this one... I almost have no doubt."

The bow was beautiful - it was made of what felt like a very limber, light wood that was ashen-silver in color. Upon touching it, it felt like it was wood that had been smoothed under someone's touch for a thousand years or more. It was twisted and gnarled like the roots of an ancient tree, but other than it's shape, there were no intricate designs, no jewels encrusted into the design... it was simple, but elegant.

"Try it out, lass, see how it feels," the shopkeep insisted with a smile.

Millicent blinked at the shopkeeper's sudden presence but nodded as she followed him. She saw the bow instantly, her fingers itching to try it out but she knew better than to look too eager. It only drove the price up. She listened carefully to what he said about its origins.

She took the bow in her hands, gently running her fingers over it. Without a word she knotched an arrow and lined up one of the targets set up. She took a steadying breath as aimed and finally released. The arrow lodged itself just out of the bullseye. "The string is a little worse for wear." She pointed out simply at the same time knotching a second arrow into the bow. She let it fly, this time it lodged itself deep in the bullseye, but the string still didn't snap back to her liking. Overall it was a gorgeous bow, though... And she could admit to herself that she really wanted it.

"Well...." the shopkeep said with a sheepish smile. "I took off the one it came with. It was just so fine, I didn't want to part with both it and the bow at the same time. But... it certainly seems to like you quite a bit. It suits you just fine, miss."

As she knocked the second arrow, the bow seemed to warm under her touch and felt as though it belonged in her hands... like it had been crafted just for her.

"What do you think," Alek asked softly, watching her form. It was excellent. Archery was never his strong point.

Millicent nodded as the shopkeeper admitted to separating the string meant for the bow. "If you could restring it with the proper setting we'll see how well it truly fits me." She mused simply, looking back to Alek as he spoke up. "Only issue I have is the string. Other than that it is, indeed, a fine piece." She told him simply, giving him a small smile. He was right...this bow was perfect.

The shopkeep gave a little look, but held his hand out for the bow. "It'll be just a few moments if you'd like to try any others while you wait," he offered with a smile.

"Hm, I thought you might like it," Alek said, glancing back in the store to see Farron inside, perusing. She had an interesting look on her face and he wondered if she were judging or just displeased. It was hard to tell.

He looked back to Millicent and nodded to her, folding his arms as he waited for the shopkeep to restring the bow with the original string. He hadn't even noticed - again, archery, not his thing.

Millicent smiled more openly once the shopkeeper left. She was used to merchants being stingy but something was almost...off about how perfect this was. "I'm glad you were able to find it. I definetly want to pick Farron's brain, though over the pricing though. By putting the original string back on you can almost garuntee he's going to try and charge even more. If he were the artisan I might change things. But, since he clearly isn't..." She shrugged lightly as she looked over the other bows but they held little interest to her. They were either too ornate or too plain.

Alek walked over to the selection of bows the shopkeep had brought out to the back yard for her to her try. He picked a few up, inspecting them before replacing them back on the on the rack. "I have no doubt... but I don't think we're going to have to worry too much about that. I would like to have Farron take a look though. That whole story about it being Sindar-made... I doubt it. No one has heard of the Sindar in five hundred years... since they disappeared from the mainland. How would one just show up?"

Millicent nodded, but thought to the way it felt in her hand. "I'm highly skeptical...but I wouldn't dismiss it so quickly." She told him, finally turning to him as she spoke. The other bows were average, get the job done but nothing extraordinary. "Something about that bow...I don't know but it was just so perfect. It felt almost unnatural how it fit me so well." She admitted with a light shrug, lightly crossing her arms under her chest.

Millicent and Alek's shopping trip went much smoother after the weapon shop. Bartering the shopkeep down to an acceptable price after restringing the bow took a vast majority of time -- apparently the string itself was made of some material the shopkeep didn't recognize and thusly considered it of extremely high value... especially when paired with the Fae-crafted bow.

Needless to say, they left the shop with the bow, string, and a quiver of fine arrows and much lighter pockets... but after the dropping of many coins and a promise for free labor from Alek, the old man gave in and handed it over to Milli.

And so the next couple of days passed with the group wary, but as comfortable as circumstance would allow. All was quiet from Mirid... the guard obviously too concerned with the surrounding forest to come this far north. Alek made good on his promise and spent an entire day in the weapons shop, cleaning out cellars and back rooms and moving things and retrieving items from other places in the village.

With Alek busy, it gave Milli and Aleron time to start the very basics of learning to control her magic. They had to be careful, of course, but at the very least, he was able to start the process...what with Alek's acceptance that things weren't going to change any time soon and he'd just as well have her be able to control herself then end up having another outburst like at her party.

Three days had passed when Alek informed everyone they needed to be on their way. He'd caught wind from the local tavern that a ship was preparing to sail for Ski'lavik - the capital city of the adjacent continent, a two week journey by fastest route. While a bit heavy, leaving this continent was their safest choice right now. They needed to be free of Mirid's influence that left little choice.

Dissent fluttered through the group, namely by Farron. Ski'lavik was too far away... too far for her family to gain passage to. Not to mention expensive. The possibility of never seeing her family again had never been an option for her - so, with a night to think it over, she elected to stay behind, to stay in Beyfield and scatter their scent should anyone come searching for them.

The next morn she saw them off, walking to the edge of town with them before staying back as everyone moved forward. She'd even gifted Grey to Alek knowing he'd need the steed more than she would.

And so their journey began again, on a bright, sunny morning, not a cloud in the open skies of the rolling plains. It was a straight shot to Vallonde via road - four 10 hour travel days, which left plenty of time for resting and sleeping. Alek had procured a map this time, not having traveled to Vallonde since he was a boy. They wouldn't keep to the road the entire trip.. he couldn't afford that kind of notoriety, but they were split in sections. Himself and Milli in front, Aleron, Asta, and Randon trailing quite a distance behind... but still close enough to see if something changed or went wrong.

He was currently studying the map as Grey plodded along at a brisk walk, scratching at the scruff that had made it's way onto his cheeks over the past couple of days. His chocolate eyes were scanning every possible route... just in case. The moment he felt comfortable and safe was the moment something would go terribly wrong
