"Yea, but your heart is in the right place, right? She can't be that upset." Asta said as she turned her light green eyes back to him, meeting his gaze briefly before dropping it. She still had a couple of naive thoughts every now and then, thinking that her family was the one messed up one and that families should be happy ones everywhere else. After all, they were family. How could you hate your own flesh and blood so much? Or dislike it?

Randon chuckled with a shake of his head, “Nah…I can turn back into mama’s favorite in an instant, and especially if I help out for a bit doing things me brotha’s don’t want to do.” He mused simply, knowing from years of getting in trouble how to get back into his mother’s good graces rather quickly. He knew his family thought he had the better hand in life and should be using it to his advantage to gain a real life for himself but…normal just wasn’t enough for him. Not enough excitement in the day to day.

Asta smiled again as she continued to run her fingers through Camulos's mane. "Sounds like you have a good life then. I probably wouldn't want to leave either." She told him as she straightened up a little, telling herself to stop being so mopey internally. She left for a reason and she was glad she left. She didn't really need the typical family, she had Aleron and that was all she needed. Speaking of, she really hoped that he would get here soon.

Randon chuckled lightly, "Wantin' te leave and bein' able to leave, lass, ah two very different things." He mused sagely with a small shrug of his broad shoulders. Hell, he'd give anything to find a place his folks would be safe. There were rumors always flying about new uprisings and new ways of weeding out those with magic around the kingdom.

Alek didn't miss the change in the atmosphere around them. It was as if the forest were lightening up, warming to their presence. Quote certain he was imagining it, he shook his head a bit. When his chocolate eyes opened back up though, he swore he saw flowers opening wider, leaning in toward the princess. Impossible...

Alek immediately tensed when the wolf crossed into view. He didn't listen to Millicent's instruction, instead tightening his grip and drawing the blade out enough so the steel caught a stream of sunlight. He didn't fully remove it from it's sheath, but his position was clearly offensive, not defensive.

"Princess," he said, stepping forward ahead of her, edging her back behind him with his elbow.

Millicent huffed in aggrivation and in fear as Alek nudged her behind him. Kisha's growl grew much more fierce, balancing back on her haunches as if waiting for a moment to strike. "She doesn't like you because of your armor." She pointed out to him, biting her lip and discreetly slipping her gloves off. She didn't want to do this but she didn't want one of them to get hurt either. "M'lord...please. She-" Before Alek could blink Kisha charged at them with a snarl, ready to protect her keeper when suddenly she skidded to a stop.

Millicent was in front of Alek, hands in front of her and eyes closed. It was as if a slight tremor went through the forest. The flowers around them instantly bloomed and the once nearly rabid wolf as docile ad a house dog. With a slow breath, Millicent reopened her eyes and squatted down, not caring if the dirt smeared the bottom of her dress or cloak. "Easy, girl...its alright..." She whispered, a small smile on her lips as Kisha finally came up with a whine, digging her fingers into the wolf's black fur just as she knew she loved it. "Put that damn blade away lest ye want her te attack ye again." She warned Alek, but her eyes never left Kisha's gold ones as the wolf finally settled and nuzzled up against her.

Alek was faster than expected, his blade out and ready to defend the princess the moment the rabid beast charged him. Bloody animals. He hated wolves, coyotes, anything canine in general. A childhood experience had left him raw to them and they always sensed his hesitance.

What happened in that instant....the feel of the vibrations that seemed to originate from Millicent....shook him. He took a couple of steps back, eyebrows furrowing in confusion and wariness.

The wolf that had just bared it's teeth and launched itself at him, was practically rolling over for a bone for Millicent. He lowered the blade...and eventually put it away. What had she just done and why was it putting him ill at ease?

"What... was that," he finally asked, staring at the back of Millicent's head as she stroked the beast.

Millicent felt her lunch coming back to greet her at his question, focusing on Kisha for the moment. "I knew she wouldn't have harmed me..." She told him instead of answering his question. He knew the truth, he just didn't want to admit to what happened. "She was sliced by a guard who thought she was a nuisance when she was a pup, hence her aggression towards you. I raised her and released her...she wouldn't harm me." She finally glanced over her shoulder to him, looking much like a scared doe. She was waiting for him to scream what she was, that she was some kind of a freak. A magic user. Maybe even turn her in. Her mind was racing and she felt like a boulder was sitting on her chest.

Alek was quiet, his eyes hard as he watched her. Magic made him even more uneasy than the canine beast did. He frowned heavily as he looked at her, complexity stretching his youthful features.

"Have.... You always been able to...." He trailed off, finishing his sentence instead with a wave of his to indicate the use of magic. "I've never....." He trailed off again, shaking his head to push away the awe. "Seen you do it before." He'd only been an official guard for three years, since his eighteenth nameday, but those three years had been spent mostly on or around Millicent and her siblings.

Millicent bit her lip and slowly stood, half making sure that Kisha stayed by her side as she finally turned to face him. She nodded slowly, "Only one who knew it was my father..." She told him, her voice soft as she rung her gloves in her hands. It was probably the first time in three years he'd seen them off of her hands.

Small sparks bounced off the fabric as she finally forced herself to look to him. Her emerqld eyes were glossy, looking close to tears. She'd always been so careful...but in a way she was almost relieved. "Please...Alek, I...I didn't...." She bit her lip again and looked down. What was the point? Groveling and explaining never did anyone accused of magic any good. It always ended the same way. No matter the person. No matter the rank.
