"Ah, I thin--" But he was gone before Alek could get a word in edgewise. This was such a bad plan. He turned Grey in a tight circle, watching Aleron and waiting for something bad to happen. Something bad always happened when Alek was expecting it.

The man's singing lulled off as Aleron approached. As he came closer, the light provided a perfectly good look at the man. He was youthful, but not young, mature, but not wizened. He smiled infectiously as Aleron approached, holding a hand up in greeting. "Eve t'ye, mate." His speaking voice was every bit as melodic as his singing, though his accent and way of speaking was not one heard much here in the landlocked city of Beyfield. It sounded of the seamen of Vallonde, men who lived their lives on the ocean.

He was lounged back against the tree and up close, it looked even more as though the tree had molded itself to be that way for him. He had darkly tanned skin, the shadow of a beard desperate to grow, and black hair kept short, but wild with a bit of curl to it.

He wore a commoner's vest with no undershirt, comfortable breeches and rough, worn leather fold-over boots. "Ye be lookin' for the herbalist, ye say? Oft late for such an endeavor," he said, crossing his ankles as he remained lounged on the ground. "What be your need so great? Ye'll be well worn t'find one with doors unlocked as the sky looms ever darker."

((oh Lord, you're going to be a GD blast to write with your fancy speech...))

Aleron immediately recognized the accent and it calmed him just a tad. Not much, but enough that he could be easygoing with the stranger. "It is late, but I'm afraid it's a bit of an emergency. Do you know of any in this town that are still open at this hour?" He asked him with a relaxed smile. He usually didn't mind socializing as he asked for help or directions of the such, but he knew that they were on a fine time table at the moment.

"Aye, that I do, friend of my friends," the man said as he smiled welcomingly yet again. "And be it as such, I've a mind t'see that ye find the place lest ye lose whatever it is ye came t'save." He pushed up from the ground and brushed off his hands, laying one on the tree momentarily as he sang a quick tune. Above Aleron, the tree seemed to sigh, the leaves rustling as though a breeze had come through when it had not.

He lifted the lantern and looked around Aleron, seeing Alek and Aleron's horse waiting at the edge of the grass. "Ye be not alone, I see, though I've a notion your friend is less than approachable all things considered." Standing, the man was very tall, a couple inches taller than Aleron himself, and oddly narrowed. He had strong shoulders and muscles, but he wasn't very broad and his waist tapered down to a slim frame with strong, long legs. "The path we tread now is nigh, mate, keep close with a soft tone." He smiled again and nodded as he began his trek toward Alek, attaching the lantern to his belt rather than wasting a hand to hold it.

Aleron shot the man a relieved and thankful smile as he offered to show it to them. "That is most kind of you, thank you." He replied, backing up a little and allowing the man to stand up. As he sang to the tree, Aleron tilted his head just slightly. He bet every copper he owned that this man wasn't 100% human. It was the way he presented himself and the way he acted. He was definitely different. That didn't necessarily mean a bad thing, but it didn't mean good either. Guess they were going to find out even though Alek wasn't going to be happy about this. He chuckled at the man's astute observation as he nodded his head and conceded. "On that, my friend, you would be most correct." He informed him as he nodded his head. He turned to look over at Alek and gave him a small nod of his head to say that they had found a place. Or at least that the man knew of a place. He led them back over towards his own horse and Alek, not bothering to remount, instead just grabbing the stallion by its halter and deciding to walk him through the streets instead.

Millicent smiled with a small shrug, "I trust he knows what he's doing..." She mused with a small nod. As she had told Alek in the woods she wasn't a big one for trust in people...but she did trust Aleron's ability to help her. And make sure Alek didn't resist help. She watched the fire for a moment then, waiting for a wave of nausea to pass. It was getting increasingly difficult to keep her head up, much less stay awake but here fear pushed her onwards.

"And I promise you put your trust in the right person." Asta informed Millicent, even her not as observant self was picking the way that the princess seemed to be drooping. She didn't think she was supposed to do that so she stuffed her shyness back into the corner of her mind as she spoke up again, trying to keep her awake and lucid. "Did you know that Aleron turned my horse into a frog once?" She started off as she sent a small smile to the girl.

Alek looked over just in time to see two figures coming back toward him. Automatically, his hand went to the guard of his sword, ready to draw if he had to.

The strange man approached, staying a respectful distance from Alek, who was still mounted on Grey. "Aye, blissful eve t'ye and welcome, friend," he said, raising his open palm as he had to Aleron. It was apparently some sort of greeting.

Alek just eyed him warily, glancing to Aleron. He was supposed to ask, not have someone show them. This was easily a trap.

"Evening," he finally answered as the man began walking just like that. "Where is he taking us," he said in a low voice to Aleron as he watched Aleron not re-mount. That wasn't intelligent. Weren't any of these people taught to expect anything and everything?

As the strange man walked he began to hum again and kept a steady pace as he led them off the square and onto the First Ring. "Keep lively, friends of my friends, we've whereabouts to attend."

-

After seeing the men off, Farron walked over and sat by the fire, across from Milli and Asta, not interrupting their talk.

Pyr grew as she approached, his heat intensifying as she settled herself into her spot. All of the flames of the fire seemed to bend toward her, though like before, the flames produced no smoke as to suffocate her.

She smiled and reached out, letting his flames lick her hand playfully.

Millicent didn't realize that Randon was keeping her upright at this point, having seen her sway slightly. Last they needed was her to fall back and hit her head. He nodded encouragingly as Asta spoke up, trying to catch Farron's eye to assist. They needed to keep the poor princess awake until the boys returned.

Milli cracked a small smile as Asta continued, looking over as she spoke. "Well unlike my mouse story I'm guessing he knew how to fix it..." She mused, looking over as Randon spoke up.

"Aye, think it would be a bloody improvement."

"Rand...that's not very nice."

"Oye! A frog can't very well trample me should he fancy, now can he?" He posed, smiling as she laughed softly and sending a quick wink to Asta with the hopes she wouldn't be too upset about his words. As long as they could keep Millicent awake he was up for talking about anything.

Aleron approached Alek and Grey, placing his hand on the gelding's neck as he looked up at Alek and let him speak. At his words, he just shook his head. "To the nearest apothecary. I'd do well not to piss him off, guardsman. Our guide is not all that he seems." He replied, giving his warning.

-

Asta scowled over at Randon as he said it would be an improvement. "It would not! Camulus is a fine horse! If you talked about me like that, I'd stomp on ya too!" She shot back at him. And just like that, she smiled as she turned back to Millicent with an instant change in mood.

"Well he did! His horse stumbled over some rocks and it broke his concentration so he did the spell wrong. Since it was something he had never done before, took him eight tries to get Camulus back a horse. Wanna try and guess the different things he turned him into before?" She asked her.

Aleron's warning did nothing to soothe Alek's uneasy nerves. It simply made them worse. "What in the seven hells does that even mean," he demanded, his voice quiet to as to not disturb their guide. The man was...odd, that much Alek could tell already.

Instead of staying on the horse, Alek slid down like Aleron and tossed Grey's reins over his neck to walk beside the beast and Aleron. If anything happened, he needed to be at eye level in the event he needed to confront the man............or the men he was half-positive he was leading them to to get mugged or worse.

The stranger led them without hesitation to the first Ring, past various shops with strange items, clothing shops, hobby shops, even a weapons shop, until he stopped in front of one of the look-alike buildings. The only thing that made it different from the ones that surrounded it, two stories and extremely narrow, was there was a lantern hanging outside the front door that burned a bright, welcoming green.

The stranger turned to face Alek and Aleron with a comfortable smile. "T'is here ye'll find the town's finest of gallipots, a true wonder of the ages, youth and all. Come along inside and we'll rouse her in hopes she'll be not overwrought with unrest at such an hour." He reached for the door, which was quite positively locked, however before his hand even came within an inch, an audible 'click!' sounded of the lock releasing. He smiled and pushed open the door, the bell above it tinkling in the still evening.

Alek glanced at Aleron, now even more uncomfortable. Had this man just unlocked a door.....without touching it? Magick again no doubt...

-

Farron smiled as she pushed Pyr's flames back to the logs. "How about a turtle?" she offered up to the conversation, her motherly side assessing Millicent's dwindling condition.
