"Ah I'm quite certain she'll be just fine," Farron reassured Asta as she took up residence beside the young woman. She didn't seem to mind Camulus' presence unlike the others; she'd spent countless hours training the young foals that even being around horses that didn't seem to like anyone didn't bother her much. She presented no threat to the animal and as long as she maintained that neutral presence, he shouldn't have any reason to lash out at her. "You've a bit of..." she reached over and picked a couple of twigs out of Asta's blonde hair and tossed them away. "There we are then, sweet. Also, being little isn't so terrible. You've quite the advantage if you use it right," she said with a little smile in Asta's direction. -- Alek didn't move as she wiped at his face. He wrinkled his nose a bit, but didn't protest to it. After she finished, he reached up to wipe away the excess liquid from the cloth. "I'm not all that concerned about it. The Gods made hoods for a reason." He remembered that originally he was going to change when Randon pushed all the wrong buttons. "Stay within the fire's reach and if something happens, get on Nightshade and ride straight toward the village. Don't hesitate, don't worry about anyone else. Come straight to me." |

Asta was actually rather surprised that Camulus allowed Farron to walk next to her. Usually the only one who could get away with being anywhere near her was Aleron. And that had been after a month of constant fighting between the two. She looked over at the woman before scowling. "How does being this little have any advantages at all?!" She demanded as she looked down at her petite, 5'2" frame. "People automatically assume I'm weak because I'm this tiny and well... I AM weak. And I'm never tall enough to reach anything." She whined. |

Millicent nodded, knowing she'd have to get up to get closer to the fire. She tilted her head a little bit, "Why wouldn't you take him?" She asked, "Alek...I can barely stand on my own at this point. I don't think trying to scramble up on a horse would do much better." She admitted, ringing the cloth a little bit in her hands. She didn't want to think about him not coming back. It wasn't built like him...to think of herself first. "Alek..." |

"Come now, plenty of reasons. You're little, which means clothes are innately cheaper for you, less fabric. You're little, which means you can easily go without being seen, good for questionable career paths if yeh chose t'follow one of those. You're little, which means you can take people off guard by acting all frail and whatnot, when really, you aren't. ALSO, you can make people do things for yeh that others mightn't if you were more my size." Farron rolled onward, waving her hand here and there for emphasis. "See, yeh look like me, men assume I'm overcompensating. Short hair, arm muscles, dirty all the time... I'm either overcompensating or I'm trying t'be a man. They tend t'treat me worse than dirt itself because I'm not feminine or soft or gentle." Farron had no bitterness to her voice, she was simply stating fact. - "Because I can't leave you without a means of escape," Alek said, watching her expression. "I'll take one of the others, Farron's maybe if she'll let me. And don't worry. I'll be back before sun up. I'm only thinking cautiously because... I don't want to leave you here with these people I don't know." He said the last part of the sentence a bit quieter than the rest, ensuring no one but her would hear him. "Just make me a promise that if something happens, you won't think of them. Think only of yourself. Get to safety." He turned and faced her, his face deathly serious as he waited for her response. |

"Yea but Farron, I AM frail and weak. Literally." Asta had to point out to the woman before scowling as she talked about how men saw her. "That's because men are idiots. I would love to be your size and look like you! I'd probably be able to do so many more things then. And people would serve me at taverns, not assuming I'm a child." She had to tack that last part on. "Besides the dumb men, I bet people are more willing to take you seriously. It must be nice. And you have the strength I bet to clout the ones over the head who don't!" |

Millicent sat and listened, nodding now and again as her fingers clenched around her cloth. "Alek I wasn't trained to leave people behind. Its not how a princess is brought up--" She went to argue more when she caught the serious look in his eye and trailed off. She bit her lip before finally nodding. "I promise." She said finally, speaking up again quickly though. "Only if you promise to be safe too. I-I can't do this without you. I'm big enough to admit that. Don't put yourself out on an unnecessary risk because of me. You hear me? Promise me." She countered, meeting his gaze and for the first time in probably ever there was a royal type of sternness to them. She wasn't just asking him to pity her. |

Farron chuckled and shrugged her shoulder. "Ah, but that's where you're wrong, sweet. No one takes me very seriously because I DON'T act like a woman. I think for myself, do for myself, and put my priorities before anyone else. That's not allowed, you see." She shook her finger at Asta before waving it all off. "But none of that matters. Have you ever learned how to defend yourself?" - Alek met her gaze straight on and never hesitated a moment as he nodded. "I promise," he assured her, his voice confident and reassuring at the same time. He glanced over her shoulder to see Asta and Farron returning from the forest and felt a bit easier now they were back. He and Aleron could leave. "I'll be back before sun up. Try to get some rest if you can." He nodded to her, even going so far as to bow his head a bit before walking over toward Aleron. |

"Well, even if they don't, you can still clout them across the head, right?" Asta asked Farron as she looked up at her with a smile, loving that the woman seemed to have a mind of her own and made her own decisions and did things her own way. That's exactly how Asta wanted to be. When she asked if she knew how to defend herself, Asta shook her head. "No and Aleron won't give me a weapon. Not that I actually blame him on that. I'd probably hurt myself more with it than I would any potential enemy." She admitted as she kicked at the ground with her boot. |

Millicent nodded back to him with a small smile before watching him as he walked off to see Aleron. She'd wait until he was gone before trying to get back up to walk towards the fire. She made the decision then she'd curl up in his cloak (sure) instead of a blanket. It was much more comforting... |

Farron smirked a bit. "Weapons aren't th'only way t'defend yourself, you know. Granted, I have noticed a bit of trickery around your feet, so maybe that's not the route to go... but there are lots of other things you can do that don't involve weapons. Hm, I think I should teach you...if you'd like." ((Suuuuure Milli. Tell yourself that.... >:D )) Alek stopped in front of Aleron, arms folded. "Anything? If not, it doesn't matter. I'd like for you to go with me into the city to the apothecary. Maybe they'll be intelligent enough to figure out what it is through symptoms alone." |
