"Mmm, I didn't think so. Knew somethin' was off." Farron stepped over and placed her hand on Millicent's back lightly, not seeming even the slightest bit put off that she'd just been sick a moment earlier. She looked over at Aleron, catching his eyes as she shook her head. Something was very wrong.

--

Alek was about to retort not-so-kindly this time around as the tiny woman decided to continue lecturing him when she said the word 'poison'.

Why not?

"Aleron, you missed something," he said, utterly ignoring the nymph's lectures before. His voice was as back to normal as it was going to be right now, but it was touched with irritation. "There was poison on that arrow."

Once the fight had started, Aleron had moved to stop it once he saw the nymph interfering, he figured it best not to get in the little sprite's way. So instead, he turned to go find the book he was looking for in his pack and see what he could uncover and hopefully find what poison Millicent had been shot with.

He was currently sitting on the ground near the fire, flipping through the pages when he heard his name. He looked over to catch Farron's eyes before looking over at Alek. "I'm already aware of this and figuring it out now. From the looks of it, it's a very expensive poison and not even your local healer would have found if they knew not to look for it." He informed the guard to let him know how serious it was before turning back to the book.

Nyss made a face, "not even a thank you..." She quipped, shaking her head a bit, "At the very least clean yeself up. Don't need to make the lass more upset. I have a feeling she'll need ye soon." She added with a shrug before flying off towards Millicent. "Oh dearie ye look dreadful..."

Milli blinked, looking between Farron and the sprite. "Who are you?"

"Oh! I'm nyss. Ye fatha asked me to watch over ye..." She added, giving a quick bow and gesturing to her pendant. She gave Farron's pendant a look though. Blissfully unaware of the look of confusion. Ugh. Magma soul.

Alek shook his head, "You missed it and now you're saying you don't know what it could be? It's poison! Slow-acting from the time frame... which means that it's killing her and you're taking the time to sit there and read a book to find out if you can match it to something?" He could hear himself getting irrational, but it was only the words. His tone of voice was completely flat and even, no sign of distress. Poison. Seven hells, why not? Let's add that into the mix and make life just that much more exciting.

He'd thought about that archer. Archers didn't join hunts like that, archers stayed behind. The Guard wouldn't have brought an archer along...and he was the only one Alek had seen, even if it was for only a brief second. Which added something else to the mix.

He was an assassin.

Alek reached up to rub his face and remembered he'd just gotten into a fight. That action hurt.

Farron looked over at the tiny woman with a tilted head. No surprise, no fear, just curiosity. "Well, hello there, Nyss." She said the way she eyed the empty pendant around Farron's neck and realized the hissing she'd been hearing was actually Pyr trying to get her attention from his place in the fire pit.

Aleron paused in his reading as he slowly raised his head to look over at Alek as he raised his eyebrow. "I am quite aware that is a slow reacting poison, guardsman. However, that describes at least half of the poisons out there. If you wish for your princess to be saved then you have to give me a little time to figure out which one. I understand that this is all a big change for you and that you're stressed and a lot is resting on your young shoulders but snapping at me and taking it out on me isn't going to help matters any." He informed him before turning back down to his book to browse through it more. Well... it wasn't nightshade...

Nyss smiled slightly at Farron, "Finally. Someone who doesn't look at me like a pest. Good on ye, Farron. Though..Pyr? That his name? Could use some manners." She said, a bit of a huff in her voice before looking back to a very confused Millicent. "M'dear girl. How do ye think you've been able to control ye powas so well?"

"Y-you...you were in this pendant this whole time?" Millicent stammered out, feeling another wave of nausea hitting her.

"Well, yes! Oh don't look like that...I wasn't allowed to come out unless ye were in life threatening danger. Posion didn't reach that level till about an hour ago...Oh. Um. Shoulda not said that. In anycase I swore I wouldn't interfere and...well, nymphs are sworn to their swears." She explained, pressing a cool hand to her flushed cheeks.

Millicent couldn't help but sigh in relief, temporarily distracted as her clammy skin cooled down and her stomach settled. She blinked her eyes a bit, happy things were back in focus for the moment. "But all me issues lately..."

"Well, I can only do so much lass. You're under a lot of stress, your body is fighting constantly and ye won't allow yerself to feel anythin'." Nyss told her honestly, giving her head a pointed but brief jut towards Alek.

Millicent felt her cheeks flush but this time out of embarrassment instead of sickness. Why did everyone think there was something more than friendship between them?!

Alek just shook his head again and walked over to his pack. He grabbed his water skin and glanced in Millicent's direction. The annoying mosquito was over there.... and he really didn't want to be around anyone right now.

"We need to go into the city," he said, though it wasn't really aimed at anyone in particular. "To the apothecary. We can't wait." Presumably he was still talking to Aleron, since no one else was likely willing to talk to him right now.

-

Farron smiled at the nymph, though her attention turned back to Millicent. "You should sit down... might make yer queasiness a bit easier t'manage," she said kindly.

She was ignoring Pyr's hissing calls though she could see he was throwing a bit of fit. His flames had drawn back to a dim glow, effectively leaving them in the waning light of sunset.

Millicent took a moment to realize Farron was talking to her, another to realize Kisha was butting up against her with a low whine. She nodded, "And some water?" She asked, her voice still hoarse from being sick earlier.

Nyss, however, flew over to the pit where Pyr was throwing his fit. "Oh come off it! They need the light and warmth ye stubborn weyface. Now you knock it off! Ye actin' like some youngin." She told him pointedly, though she made sure to keep far enough away if he flared. That wouldn't end well for either of them.

"I understand your impatience but you have to at least give me enough time to figure out what the apothecary needs to use to help the princess." Aleron explained to Alek patiently without even moving his gaze from the book, idly flipping to the next page as his eyes flickered over to see if he could find what they needed.

"Of course, I'll go get my skin. Sit here and we'll get you feeling better in no time," Farron said with a light smile as she settled Millicent on the ground against the tree before heading back to get her water skin.

She paused by Aleron, "Any luck?" she asked, though her answer was written all over Alek's face.

-

Pyr rumbled quite a bit as Nyss flew over to him. His hissing and popping had stopped when Farron passed by without so much as a glance his way and seemed to be sulking that she was flagrantly ignoring him.

He bubbled a few times before suddenly a glob of cooled gook - a mixture of dirt, ash, and little pieces of charred wood flew out and smacked Nyss right in the face.

He flared several times, his light intensifying with sprays of sparks. Apparently, the Soul was laughing.
