"That does make sense... I'm jealous of your bum. Mine hurts every which way I try to wiggle it," she informed him with a quick smile as she adjusted in the grass. "Which is to be expected I guess with Mr. Slave Driver in command... seriously, th'man must be part... machine or something." She glanced over at him with a raised eyebrow at his mention of Asta. "That's impossible. Are yeh sure that girl is full human? I've heard of halfbreeds in the far North...and it's probably getting more common as the other races come into Vallonde, though last time I was there, t'was illegal to have a halfbreed child."

Aleron chuckled before laughing. "He is a bit hardcore." He agreed with her about Alek. "I just assumed that all guardsmen were like that. The serious ones that is." He corrected himself, knowing plenty of lazy guards. He laughed again as she asked about Asta. "It's not impossible, that girl on a horse is incredible. I... have honestly no idea if she has anything extra special coloring her background. It's not from her father's side since her father and my mother were related and you can trace the Bancroft name all the way back to the first days of the village." He admitted to her with a shrug. "With me and my magic it's a little easier since my father's family has only been in the village for a couple of generations and there were rumors about stray cousins and the like who were... cursed." He winked over at her at the use of the word.

Millicent was sitting off to the side, sipping carefully at her water bag. She felt like her stomach was doing somersaults. Every morsel of her being hurt. She'd managed to keep her vomiting down until nightfall, when everyone else was asleep and she was hoping to do the same tonight.

She knew Alek was thinking something was up and maybe the others. She was being snippy, bitter...nothing like her normal self. Hell, she'd almost had a fainting spell off the damn horse! Her leg still hurt to stand on for too long but that was the easiest of her ailments to hide. Most of it she'd been able to keep to herself or blame on fatigue.

She nudged Misha away as she nuzzled up against her with a soft whine, eventually coaxing her to curl up beside her. Even the wolf knew something wasn't right. At the moment she was just trying to keep it together. Her head was swimming and her control was absolutely flimsy at best...

--------

Randon stretched with a light groan. Agh this damn guard was a literal pain in his arse...and legs..and back...

He sighed, unpacking his mare for the night before pulling the saddle off of her. He rubbed her down, chuckling as Kida shook out. "Easy girl...." He mused, taking a look around at the others as he worked. Milli looked horrid to be honest, and the others looked worse for wear as well. Well, actually...Asta looked cranky but not nearly as worn as the others. He vaguely wondered why...

Farron listened as Aleron spoke, bobbing her head along here and there. "Hmm, I see... sounds like a fun mystery to me. It's really quite amusing that we're all so...magick-phobic, you know? Considering how old it really is." She shook her head. " A few rebels get out of control, do something stupid and the entire continent is wracked with fear and ignorance.... ah well. Those're problems for the people in charge, not for people like me."

--

Alek finally stood and walked over to Millicent. "How are you feeling," he asked quietly, wanting to keep it between them. Randon wasn't far off and he didn't want him or anyone else getting involved where they weren't concerned. "We're nearly to Beyfield... tomorrow morn we'll be off and in the village proper by mid-morning."

"It's why they say that individuals are intelligent and groups are stupid." Aleron said with a shrug before chuckling. "Easy for you to say. You're not really one of the ones being hunted constantly. Although your luck seems to be pretty terrible lately." He admitted.

"Yes, it does so seem that way, doesn't it? I hope it changes soon. I don't do well in bad luck situations... I tend to get cranky and everyone knows that's a dour outlook." Farron looked over to him as she quit twirling to empty amulet and pondered over several questions to ask him. "So what's your plan, traveler? Once we get into the village?"

"It'll change. It has to. You can't have bad luck forever you know." Aleron mused as he smiled over at her. "Besides, I have a feeling that you'd beat Lady Luck into submission until she gave you what you wanted." He teased her. At her question about his plans, he shrugged and sighed quietly. "The Princess needs my help. She has absolutely no control over her abilities and that's dangerous for everyone. I want to help her and teach her the control she needs and that what she has isn't to be hated and that it doesn't make her a terrible person. She has a gift, not a curse." He replied honestly to her question.

Millicent looked up with a light sigh, giving him a small but true attempt at a smile. "I'm alright. Just really sore and I think the sun is getting to me stomach." She admitted simply, setting her water in her lap. In fact, she'd managed to avoid eating the last time they stopped for camp. She didn't know if it was better or worse though since now she just felt weak on top of everything.

Her magic was seeping out, though, and her pendant was beginning to vibrate as well and she had a bad feeling this wouldn't end well.

"So you've plans to stay with her then? Hm, sounds like she needs it," Farron agreed as she turned to look back at the princess. DIdn't look very princess-y right now with disheveled hair, wrinkled traveling clothes, dirt on her cheeks, and a constant look of exhaustion. It was sort of...liberating in a way to think that the royalty really was just as human as the rest of them. Nevertheless, Millicent looked....well, terrible.

"D'you find it fishy, her current state? She seems worse than she should be and I've injured m'self more'n enough in my life," Farron pondered outloud as Alek approached the woman. The Guard dog always looked so...concerned when he talked to her. Instead of glaring or scowling, he was usually calm and reserved with her.

--

Alek was quiet for a few moments before speaking. "I don't like how you look," he explained before realizing it came out awkwardly. "I mean... You don't look well. You... look worse...than you should, I mean." He stopped and sighed at himself before scrubbing a hand through his messy hair. "How about I just...change the bandage? See how things are doing," he suggested finally, internally scowling at himself. Why was he such a blathering moron?

"For as long as the lessons last, yes." Aleron answered. "Even royalty needs help every now and then." He replied quietly, his eyes travelling over to the princess at Farron's astute observation. "Yes, I've been thinking the same thing." He agreed with her. "Something's very wrong. When I patched up her leg, it should have already started the healing process. She should be tired since she hasn't had the proper rest, but not like this. I feel like there was something I missed that was important." He confided into Farron as he turned his eyes back to her, the green depths conveying the seriousness of the problem.
