Asta sat there and studied Randon, watching as he did it again before trying once more. Taking the card from him, her face frowned into concentration as she studied the apple for a while before throwing it. It didn't go off to the side like last time, but the card didn't sink in either. "Skills like what?" She asked him curiously after scowling at her latest fail before looking over at him.

Randon handed her another card, "Yeah... Rest of my family is rather gifted." He mused with a shrug, "Much like your brother." He added as he flicked another card info the skin of the apple. He'd been around magic more than long enough to recognize a user of magic. Aleron reeked of it....

"Oh, you mean they use magic." Asta replied, not seeming to have issues with saying it that way. She took the card from him as she focused once more on the apple. Then, flicking it with all of her might, she finally managed to lodge it into the piece of fruit. It was barely in there and lopsided, but it made it nonetheless. Jumping up with a laugh, she clapped her hands before smiling brightly at Randon, her whole face lighting up with the change of attitude. "I did it!" She told him excitedly.

Randon chuckled at her blunt ways, "Aye lass. Every last one of 'em sept for me." He mused, grinning wide as she finally got it lodged into the fruit. "Aye lass ye did it! See told us ye could. Little more practice and it will become second nature...." He assured her with a soft chuckle. He was happy to see her not so shy for once.

"Why do you think that is?" Asta asked him, the smile lingering on her face. The smiled brightened at his compliment before blushing. "I don't really have any talents besides getting in trouble." She dropped her head. All she did was mess everything up.

Randon shrugged, "Bad luck if the draw in fate?" He mused, grinning a bit as she turned red. "Oye no pulin' me leg, lass. Ye trained that demon over there." He gestured vaguely to her horse that was apparently determined to try and kill him. "From what I can see ye have plenty of talent, lass. Even if causing mischief is a big one. How did you find him anyway??" He asked curiously.

"I wouldn't call my bad luck a talent." Asta argued with him before blushing. "And he's just... he's had a bad life. I was able to relate and help him and he helped me." She explained to him. "I uh... acquired him from a farm. They didn't treat him very nicely and I could relate so I decided to save him from my own fate." She explained to him quietly, wondering why the hell she was even telling him this.

Farron just chuckled to herself quietly, "Ohh... I see, yer just lookin' for some free help then. Tsk, traveler, I had thought better of you than that!" She glanced over to see Alek the neurotic guard doing rounds. He was smart, keeping right at Pyr's edge.

She looked back to Pyr and leaned forward, whispering to him in his melodic, hissing language. Pyr brightened instantly and a flame spat out and licked at Farron's face. It was sudden and would have been exceptionally worrisome... if she hadn't laughed.

"What a charmer," she said as she leaned back, rubbing at the spot on her cheek. It was bright red, but there was no sign of burn or worse. Just a little red stripe where the flame had touched her.

"Free help? Don't you feel bad and want to, from the bottom of your very generous heart, pass on an act of kindness?" Aleron asked her with a grin before leaning back with a chuckle as he watched her curiously with Pyr. His eyebrow raised and he felt himself tense slightly as a flame spewed forth and landed against Farron's cheek. He was amazed to see no burn mark really. "Do you just not burn or is it Pyr?" He asked her, not able to help himself.

Farron chuckled again as the area around them lit up a bit more for Alek's sake. "No, no, I burn just as anyone else would." She held out her arm and rolled up her long sleeve revealing an array of scars, healing cuts, bruises and many burn marks. One of them in particular, was very large and right on the fleshy part of her forearm. She rolled her sleeve back down once he'd had the chance to see. "That's Pyr's.... kiss? Maybe would be the term. I asked him very politely if he'd light up a bit for the Guardsman and flattered him into doing so. He's a bit vain in that he likes being called a ferocious, frightening, destructive Soul of flames..."
