Millicent focused on ignoring her pendant, even if it was obnoxious. If it got any worse the shaking would be visible and it would be rather awkward. She looked to Alek with a smile and shake of her head before going back to eating. She knew that look well after being three years his charge. "So I meant to tell ye earlier but...I really did enjoy the present you gave me." She told him softly, since even with the two of them he seemed awkward about it. Last thing she wanted was to embarrass him like whatever Marek's gift had been. The story filled journal wasn't what she'd been expecting but she'd loved it. It gave her a chance to see a different side to him.

"Mm, you can ask him?" Farron offered as she settled down herself, crossing her ankles. She didn't mind being around Aleron. Not only was he quite pleasing on the eyes, she felt at ease with him. It was a bit disconcerting...but she figured if there was something very wrong with him, Pyr would know. Souls had a knack for knowing when something was corrupt in a person. "Though I might wait until he's finished eating... he's just like any person. Grumpy and ill-mannered when I've starved him for a grand total of a day or so. I s'pose it's the manner of a flame spirit that he is..magma is just liquid flames after all."

Alek was quiet for an extra moment or so as he organized what Marek had given him. "...Ah, that." He'd nearly forgotten. "Right... well, I apologize it wasn't...to be honest, I'm not really..." He kept cutting off mid-sentence, apparently unsure of what to say. "I guess.... you're welcome," he finally finished lamely, keeping his eyes firmly on what he was doing as he occasionally took a bite or two of his food.

"Oh of course. Never get between a person and their food." Aleron agreed, nodding 'seriously' as he grinned over at Farron. "So he eats flames then? Heat?" he asked her curiously, feeling just fine and comfortable sitting here and conversing with Farron. He liked Farron; he liked how refreshingly honest she was and how she was not afraid to be herself, comfortable in her own skin.

Millicent laughed softly, shaking her head a bit as he rambled. "Alek..." She sighed lightly, hesitating a moment before resting her hand lightly on his to try and coax his attention to her and away from whatever he was burying."I thought it was very sweet and...well, generous of you to open up like that. I liked the glimpse behind the armor it gave." She told him simply with a shy smile before pulling back and focusing back on her food for a moment. The light of the bright flames, however, caught the light blush on her cheeks. It also showed, unfortunately, how her lip was lightly swollen and scarred. There was a faint mark under her eye, like a little divit in her overwise flawless skin that just didn't belong. It was a reminder, however, that her step father was a basfard...and jewel encrusted rings hurt.

"Good mantra to live by," Farron agreed before rocking back and forth a bit. "Ahh, he really eats just about everything. He is a flame after all is said and done, though he's used to charcoal. Wood doesn't get the forge hot enough and even though charcoal is more expensive, it's hotter, better to work the metal with, you know?"

-

Alek glanced over at Millicent and his immediate reaction was to pull away from her touch, but he did not. Twenty one years of how to act around royalty wasn't going to go away after a few days on the run.

"Yes, well, in hindsight it wasn't a very good gift. I wrote all that as a young lad... barely in my teens. That's why it was terrible... but I thought you might like it. Maybe someday, if you feel so inclined, you can edit it for me and even finish it? I never did find out if Lothir ended up fighting in the war or if he ran away..."

He actually turned to look at her rather than glimpsing. The firelight danced in her emerald eyes and bounced off a scar or two here and there. He frowned at the sight of them; the King was an asshole... a cruel, jealous man with no honor.

Millicent gave him a small smile as she looked back over at him. "I kind of figured it was from your younger years but it wasn't horrid, Alek, trust me on that." She mused with a light laugh as she looked back over at him, thinking over the stories she'd written over the years. Her poems, she believed anyway, were much more acceptable.

"I really did like it and I'd love to help you finish it one day. Its nice to see you're not always so serious." She teased lightly with a small shrug as she took another bite of her food.

"I'll remember that. And charcoal would make since. Although, I never quite figured out why it's so expensive since it's so easy to make... even if it does take a while." Aleron conceded at the last part. "So have you always wanted to be a Blacksmith or is it because it's the family business?" He asked her curiously, wanting to know more about Farron.

"Ah, I hate to inform you, but I am as serious as I seem to be," Alek told her as he looked back forward, thinking as soon as everyone was asleep, Marek's little present was getting burned. "I'm the unfun Camilleri. If you want cheery and chipper, go find Marek... he's eternally stuck at about seventeen...."

--

Farron sighed and tilted her head as she watched Pyr glow and wrap his flames around the logs. It was still hard to believe there was a pool of scalding, horrifyingly dangerous magma lighting their fire, but she was used to it. In a forge he was much less ostentatious than tonight. He had good control over himself though and was avoiding seeping anywhere.

"Ah, the family business," she explained with a light flip of her hand. "My father's been one, his father before him, so on and so on. The Blacks have been smithies for generations. When I was born a girl and my mum didn't seem t'be having any boys, my father chose me to learn the business. When I was a little pigeon though, before I found the forge, I wanted t'be a horse trainer."

Aleron looked back to the fire to watch Pyr wrap himself contently around the logs. It was definitely an honor it felt like, to watch a spirit and to know somebody who knew one so personally. He looked back to Farron eventually, thinking that she was much prettier and nicer to look at than a spirit in his natural element.

"A horse trainer, eh? I think you and Asta would get along quite well." He informed her with a smile, eyes flickering briefly over to his cousin where she was currently trying to do a handstand on a resting Camulus's back before looking back to Farron with a small shake of his head. "Do you enjoy smithing?" He asked her curiously.
