Alek glanced over at Asta and Randon. It was an odd pairing, but the girl looked uncomfortable...

He checked on Millicent, then made his way over to them, completely interrupting whatever Randon was about to say. "Pardon," he said, his eyes on the girl. "I noticed you have a way with horses. Millicent's beast, Nightshade, seems a little off. I've no doubt it's due to carrying the weight of two people and two packs, but... I need to be sure he's capable of carrying us to Beyfield. Would you mind?"

--

"I don't think he's that crafty, traveler," Farron said reassuringly as she plopped a few more pieces on the pile. "He just likes things and people to like him...or in some cases, he wants them to dislike him. If it gets too much, have your girl tell you and you tell me and I'll beat him up a bit until he quits." She stood in front of him, wiping her hands on her breeches. "Worry little, traveler. You've got me t'keep him in line. Come along... Pyr needs something to burn and this should keep him happy for the night."

Randon quirked an eyebrow at the sudden interruption. He didn't say anything, though, simply biting into the apple he'd originally offered the white demon. Normally he would've walked off, gotten things ready for himself and Farron for the night, but; Asta had made her distaste of the guard quite clear so he lingered, just to insure it went alright.

Asta looked like she was going to reply when Alek walked over and interjected. She paused before nodding, not even seem to catch what was going on. "Of course. You could start off by being a little nicer to the horse you know." She informed him before promptly walking over to go take a look at Nightshade and check up on the steed.

-

"I'm almost temped to let it happen just so I can see you thrash him around a bit. It's a highly amusing though." Aleron admitted as he followed along after her obediently. As long as Randon minded his own and didn't make Asta feel uncomfortable, he would be happy. "So Vallonde, huh?" He asked her about her destination.

Randon rubbed his mouth to keep from laughing at her response before getting himself away from demon. He pulled the blankets out for himself and Farron, glancing to Millicent as she opened her eyes. "So is it Milli or Millicent?" He asked simply, taking her a bit by surprise.

"Sorry?"

'Well.." He mused plopping down nearby as he continued to eat his apple. "Ye introduced y'slef as Milli but ye propa name is Millicent and ye seem to cring if anyone calls ye by ye title so..."

Millicent laughed softly, thankful he was treating her like a normal person. It was a nice change of pace. "Milli is fine Randon..." She assured him, running her fingers through Kisha's fur as she rested her head in her lap.

"Milli it is then." He agreed with a small grin. "She really is a beaut...where'd ye find her?"

"I nursed her back to health as a pup. One of the guardsman got over zealous." She explained, gently plucking the piece of bloody uniform out from Kisha's teeth. "Just...kinda grew from there."

"I'll keep that in mind. I appreciate the assistance," Alek continued, eyes darting to Randon as he passed him. Maybe it was in bad taste to make assumptions before he knew anything... but honestly, the man reeked of egomania and self-adoration. Alek coudn't stand men like him.... he reminded him much of Marek, in all honesty, save this one wasn't related to him.

He trailed after Asta until she reached Nightshade. "I apologize if I've come off as rude to you," he offered. "I don't give my trust easily and your.. brother, is it?, and you appeared rather fortuitously. I don't much believe it was by accident."

--

Farron nodded with a smile as she led him back to the camp site. "Yes, it is fun. He's a very fun target, but a true pain if he gets it in him to be ornery. He's a quick little devil when he wants to be, but he's a right git most of the time."

She glanced at him and nodded. "Vallonde. It's the biggest city on this continent....and as such, the easiest to get lost in. It's right on the coast, which gives us access to the sea and sea travel. I figure, if I'm on the lam, I might as well do something I've always wanted to do while I'm at it. So long as I know my family is safe, of course."

Asta who was currently running her fingers through the horse's man and murmuring sweet, encouraging words to the animal, looked over as Alek spoke up. Her eyebrow quirked upwards slightly before she turned back around to face Nightshade. She found that it was easier to talk to people when she didn't have to look directly at them. "All men are rude to me mostly. It's something I'm rather used to." She informed him cooly. "I'm a village idiot, so people tend to forget their manners." She was being a little harsh she knew, but she couldn't help it. When people were rude to her before even getting to know her, it struck a nerve. Especially when it was men. At least Alek was trying now so she had to give him a little credit. "It probably wasn't an accident. This could have easily been set up by the Spirits that Aleron worships so devoutly. They can be meddlesome little things." She told Alek.

-

"I've been to Vallonde once or twice. It is... an interesting city depending on where you go." Aleron told her with a faint smile. "Will you stay there for long do you think?" He asked her curiously. "And where do you wish to go? Sounds like you have a more ultimate destination in mind. Back home?" He asked her, obviously knowing that her accent meant not from this part of the world.

"I certainly hope not," Alek said off-handedly. "The Gods already have their hands in my life, I don't need any other spirits or... whatever else dipping their fingers in for a taste as well." He glanced at Asta and nodded. "I'll leave you to work. Please let me know if I need to re-think our current situation or if the horse needs something." He had the blankets in his arms and his pack over his shoulder as he walked over to Millicent.

"How are you feeling," He asked softly as he held out the blanket to her and proceeded to dig through his pack for food.

-

Farron glanced at him. "Perceptive little thing, aren't yeh?" She shrugged a shoulder and looked back forward, grabbing another log to place on Aleron's pile as they made their way back to the camp site to build up the fire. "Not sure, really... don't know that Randon would do overly well in my hometown, so we may have to think about finding somewhere else t'hide out for a while."

"What about you, traveler? Where's your path taking you?"

Millicent was laughing softly at something Randon had said, looking up at Alek as he approached with a small smile. "Tired..." She admitted, taking the blanket from him as she sat up a bit, wrapping it around herself as she patted the ground beside her. "Come on, Alek...you have to be at least a little tired..." She mused, brushing her hair behind her ears.

"Keeping Asta out of trouble is a full time job so I sort of have to be." Aleron informed her with a smile listening as she told him that it probably wouldn't happen. "Is there any particular reason it wouldn't be a good idea to bring him there?" He asked her curiously before shrugging. "I go pretty much wherever the wind takes me. If we're near a particular sight or landmark I'll take Asta there so she can experience the world, but that's really about it." He told her.

Alek spared Randon no glance as he shrugged his shoulders. "Not really... I've got first watch tonight. I'm uncomfortable in this territory. What....?" He brought out something wrapped in burlap and tied in a bow with string. It was roughly book shaped, but Alek didn't know why there would be a book wrapped up in his pack.

But Marek had packed it for him. That concerned him. He dropped his pack on the ground and untied the string, pulled off the burlap and tilted his head. The front and back were blank pieces of thick parchment. He flipped it open and flipped a couple pages, his chocolate eyes scanning.... and as soon as his mind put it together, his cheeks and ears dusted with red.

"Marek," he growled, flying around to see Farron and Aleron coming back. "Light the fire already," He called out to them, immediately slamming the book shut.

--

"Ahh, the life of a traveler. There are days I wish I had it, but more often than not, I'm not keen t'travel my heart into bliss. A burning forge, my family... that's all I need t'keep me on the straight and narrow," Farron said before sighing a bit and shrugging. "Not really, I mean... my hometown is just a bit... errr...different than anything I'm sure he's used to. Takes some gettin' used to you, y'know?"

She looked over as Alek called out to them, her eyebrow arching. "Pardon?" She saw the way his face was beet red. Why was he blushing?
