Alek's instant reaction was to protest and his face showed it. He even opened his mouth, but Farron was quicker. She clapped her hands together and put on a quick smile. "Then it's settled. We're in yer debt, Guardsman. We won't bother yeh from here to there and once there, we'll be on our happy trail and yeh can do whatever it is yeh like! All clear then? Why don't I get us a bitty flame going? We're covered by these here trees, impossible to spot at a low enough light." Alek just shut his mouth and remained silent on the matter. More people to not trust. This....was going to be a delightful trip. Thank the Gods it was short... Beyfield was a day and a half ride from here. After this rest, it wouldn't be but a few annoying hours and he'd be free of them. |

Asta blinked in surprise at Randon's words, her light green eyes large and unblinking much like an owl's. To say his words took her by surprise was an understatement. She had actually thought the same thing! She bit her lip as if deciding on whether to reply or not before nodding, hoping that nobody else was paying attention. "It's not quite like that, but I don't know what she sees in him either." She whispered back to him, leaning down so her head was even with Camulus's so her voice didn't carry as much. The large brute of a horse didn't even seemed phased with her being so close to him. In fact, he seemed to be even calmer and more content. There was just something about Asta that horses seemed to be drawn to and comforted by. |

Millicent gave her a small smile and a nod, "Sounds good to me." She replied simply to Farron, knowing if Alek had his way they would've been sent packing. She knew the Black family's reputation and had met Caius a few times over the years. If his daughter was anything like him they had nothing to fear. She looked to Alek then, "Will you promise not to bolt this time if I lean on you to get off the boulder and sit on the ground?" She asked, a sarcastic amusement in her voice. She knew Alek was less than pleased with her at the moment but she felt another dizzy spell coming and she didn't want to be precariously perched on a boulder when it hit. Randon nodded, looking up as Farron clapped. "Well, guess we'll just 'ave te watch 'em carefully. Maybe even catch a glimpse of the human beneath the guard. Looks like Farron and I will be joinin' this merry band of misfits after all." He mused with a slight grin, unable to watch with curiosity the way the horse calmed at her presence. Thing was a bloody demon....but apparently he'd been won over by the tiny blonde. |

Alek was displeased and it showed in his expression. He walked over to Millicent and held an arm out to help her stand, but he was still eyeing Farron and her annoying companion. What was it about this princess that she absolutely refused to show any miniscule amount of self-preservation? Farron nodded to the princess. "I'll get us set up while the rest of your get comfortable." She turned away and the moment she was no longer facing them, she reached up and grasped Pyr's burning pendant. She hissed quietly to him as she walked away to go find some firewood for their little fire. |

Milicent ignored the look he gave her, using his arm to help herself up off the rock. "You know...it is better to make allies than enemies." She mused quietly with a small shrug. Why would you piss off people that did nothing against you? If he'd pissed them off well enough they may have very well turned around and alerted the guards to get their own charges dropped. "You're not the first man to give me that look, and you most likely won't be the last." |

When she took his arm, Alek actually turned to help her fully rather than leaving it to her own devices. As she stood, he kept his arm securely around her back, his hand resting safely and respectfully on her side. "Everyone is our enemy until proven otherwise, Millicent.. and you're right, under normal circumstances I would give them the chance to prove it. But these aren't normal circumstances." His tone was matter-of-fact as always but there was a minimal hint of his desire for her to understand where he was coming from. |

Millicent gave him a small, thankful smile for his assistance as she leaned against him a little. "I understand that, Alek, but I'd also rather take a chance at this moment. You think I'm overly happy? This means I can't practice at all." She paused, closing her eyes as she stumbled and tried to balance herself out. Once she felt steady she looked back to Alek then. "Once we're in Beyfeild I'll be much more selective, that I promise you that, but right now with the guard so close behind last thing we need is someone confirming a princess sighting..." |

"Hm, if we keep at the rate we're going, we're going to have a small army by the time we reach Beyfield." Alek looked over at the lot and tried his best to push down the waves of distrust that were bubbling within him. She was right...they were now stuck with these people and at their mercy until they reached Beyfield and could lose them. They couldn't risk one of these people running back to the king and telling him where they were off to. They couldn't risk NOT stopping at Beyfield for supplies. "Come, let's get you comfortable and I can change your bandage," he said quietly as he pushed the thoughts away for now. There was no choice at this point. |

Millicent let out a quiet laugh, thankful he wasn't set on arguing all of this. She nodded, allowing him to help her sit down in the grass. She sighed in relief once the pressure was off her leg, hoping this would get better after some rest. She knew in the back of her mind she should be using it more to keep it from stiffening but she was simply too tired. Once he was close enough again she spoke up softly, "Thank you, Alek. I know this hasn't been easy for you but...thank you." She told him with a small smile, her mind flashing back to the last day and a half. How quickly her life had spiraled out of control. "What was it you wanted to speak with me about at the ball?" She asked then, remembering the urgency in his voice. |

"No need to thank me," he assured her as he settled her. Once she was comfortable, he stepped to the side to grab a fresh bandage from his pack. They were going to need to spend a lot of coin on provisions when they reached Beyfield. He hoped Marek had had the forethought to give him plenty of coins for it. Again, he'd been too preoccupied to check, but perhaps that was something he could do tonight while on watch. He bent down in front of her and with gentle fingers, began to undo Aleron's most recent bandage. "It hardly matters now," he murmured as he worked. "What I had to tell you would have led precisely to where we are right now. Two entirely different methods, but identical outcomes." As he unwrapped, he inspected the arrow wound. He couldn't decide if it looked better or not... it really didn't look much changed. He wondered if that was cause for concern. There were light lines webbing out from the wound, but Alek had seen infection set in before and that's what it resembled. He frowned and spread some poultice onto his hand before very gently rubbing it into the area surrounding her wound. "We need to get you to a proper apothecary when we get to Beyfield," he tacked on as he worked. |
