"A bird..." Millicent answered Alek slowly, wondering how he'd take the news. She looked to Alek with a quirked eyebrow. "How do I do tha-ow!" She scowled briefly as the bird pecked her collarbone lightly to regain her attention. "Hang on...!" She insisted with a light sigh.

Aleron smiled at her as he pulled his horse, Aloysius, closer to Millicent's. "I want to you close your eyes and open your mind. Beast speech is one of the easier tricks to learn because it's one of the most common. Try to tone all of us out and wait for that tug. When you feel that tug as the bird speaks to you, grab onto it."

Alek stiffened under Millicent's touch, a little ill at ease that Aleron was teaching her how to talk to a bird. It wasn't that it wasn't fascinating....it was just....odd. He had a healthy wariness of magick, obviously, and it would take quite a while to get used to being around it so constantly.

Millicent gave a slow nod as Aleron tried to explain, closing her eyes and trying to focus. It took her a moment or so before she finally felt what she figured had to be the 'tug'.

"....and they were so inconsiderate! Nearly ran me over they did!"

Millicent blinked as suddenly words came out of the bird instead of tweets. "I'm sorry, pardon?!" She squeeked out, figuring if a bird could roll its eyes it would be.

"You don't listen do you? The men, all loud and clangy in their shiny suits...woke me up, they did. Nearly ran me over as I tried to get a bite too eat."

"From hence?" Millicent's face visibily paled, looking to the west as the sparrow pointed with her wing. "We're going to to have company soon from the west, everyone. We need to speed up. Now." She told them, looking back to the bird a bit unsure, "ummm thank you very much...." She added giving a hesitant smile as it flew off. Oh this was going to take a while to adjust to....

((LMAO guys.... this is how Alek feels right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MNllfr6wVY ))

Alek just sat there, listening to Millicent... talk...... to a bird Yes, because that was entirely normal. And apparently, on top of it, the bird was telling them where the guards were at.

Alek resisted the urge to comment about taking advice from a bird and just nudged Nightshade. "Come, we can lose them in the maze of the inner forest. It will take us a bit longer to get out, but they won't be able to follow unless they know these hidden paths well."

((LOL!!!! Oh Alek xD))

"I can have our trails covered up as well. There won't be any prints left for them to find." Aleron offered up as an owl landed on his outstretched hand and he murmured his instructions to it before allowing it fly off. The less issues they had, the better.

((Lmao "why me...why meeee?!"))

Millicent nodded, nudging Nightshade lightly so he would listen to Alek. She just nodded, "None to my knowledge know any further than the woods edge." She agreed simply, her arms tightening a bit as she took a steadying breath. She couldn't lose her cool now....

Reality was starting to settle in though and her mind was realing. Her hands were shaking slightly. Nope. She was stronger than this. She had to be.

"You might as well," Alek said to Aleron off-handedly. He wasn't sure what would be covering them up but he didn't realy want to ask.

As the horse picked up into a careful trot, Alek felt Millicent grip underneath him. He hesitated a moment, but ultimately made the decision to reach down and place a hand on her arms that were around him. His hand was rough and had dry callouses from training with various weapons for hours on end, but it was warm.

His hand remained on her arms as he led them deeper into the forest, away from the direction the little bird had told Millicent. The sun, now fully out and shining brightly today, was beginning to dim as they wound deeper into the throng of trees and underbrush. Each step Alek made the horse take carefully just in case they had to react to something....or someone.

Aleron and Asta were quiet as they follow Alek and Millicent, making such a little amount of noise, that it only meant that they had to have done this before. This definitely wasn't new territory for them.

Millicent relaxed the smallest amount as she felt Alek's rough hand on her arms, obviously comforted by the jesture. She needed to keep it together... She looked up as a bird cawed overhead, only catching a piece of it but it was enough. "A bit farther. They're falling behind but..." She trailed off, taking a steadying breath, "but they're not far enough behind for any kind of comfort. There's apparently been talk of burning the wood to smoke us out but...I would think that was just grumbling. Right?" She asked Alek, head resting on his shoulder for the moment so she could hear him better.
