Millicent finally found her voice as she quickly dressed, blinking when she realized there was a breeze on her legs. Damn. Forgot about the slits. "Yes but the vast majority are still against magic..." She pointed out, kicking the gown to the side as she slipped the belt on. She kept it loosed so she could sleep but the felt kind of awkward with no kind of corset.

"Why Beyfeild?" She asked tapping his shoulder lightly so he would turn around. She suddenly didn't look like a princess anymore... Rather a very pretty girl next door. She was still a little flush but she was glad Alek hadn't tried anything. A small, very small, portion realized she was a little disappointed too. It confused her so she didn't dwell on it.

((My little sheltered girl is growing up!!!))

((XD one step at a time.....))

Alek waited for her signal before turning around. His mouth was open to answer her question, but it got lost in the air between them as he laid eyes on her. She looked so different not in her usual clothes... different in a good way, but also a bad. She was going to get attention now, not as a princess but as a woman.

He exhaled heavily, "Uh......" There was another long pause as he blinked a couple times and reached up, absently scratching at his eyebrow. "Um, what was the question?"

Millicent tilted her head a bit as the silence lingered...and lingered. "You feeling okay?" She asked simply, furrowing her brows a bit in concern. "I asked why you picked Beyfeild..." She repeated, sitting back down against the wall then as she pulled his cloak over her lap. While it was much more comfortable here than by the entrance she was still a little cold.

"Ah, oh, right, yes, of course." Alek nodded, scratching the back of his neck. He shook his head lightly to himself as he turned away again once she sat down. "Beyfield is the nearest town that's outside the city proper. Guard won't go out that far, we can get supplies and lay low for a short while until we decide where we need to go in the long run." He glanced back at her, "What do you think, P--...Millicent?"

Millicent listened, trying to get at least semi comfortable as he spoke. "I think that sounds like a good idea...but I think we should keep our time there brief. I think you underestimate how much my stepfather wants my head on a spike. The whole guard won't be out but you can bet your arse he'll send a few parties out to hunt me down. " she said simply, idly picking at a fuzz on the cloak. He put on quite a show for everyone else but she'd learned quite a few tricks about hiding slap marks and even some bruising over the years....

"I don't think I do underestimate it," Alek murmured quietly, more to himself than to her. "But I agree. A short stint there, we'll get what we need and move on. Our very best course of action right now is to get out of the country entirely, but that's a large goal and we need to take the right steps to get there otherwise we'll end up making mistakes that we can't afford." Especially now that he was aware she had magick. That was going to make things a notch harder than he might have ever anticipated, but it didn't matter. He would make her safe...somehow.

He exhaled again and looked over to her. "Why don't you rest? I'll keep watch."

Millicent nodded, biting back a yawn as he mentioned rest. "You need sleep too..." She reminded him, hoping he wouldn't be up all night. He wouldn't be much help if he was exhausted. "I doubt anyone will come out this far this dark and with that storm. They'd have to be bonkers..." She said simply, knowing she was being naively hopeful. She couldn't afford all of the sadness and bitterness and anger lurking within her though...

"Yes... eventually. But one of us needs to stay up and I'd prefer it be me until you get the rest you need," he insisted, looking over to her with a brief nod. He was always so serious...

"Just....sleep. I'll be here if you need me and I assure you I won't let anything happen to you. Besides, you've got your...friend there.." he said, glancing uncomfortably again at the wolf, plus her horse. "You're as safe as you can be out here, Lady. Rest."

He looked back forward, walking up to the mouth of the cave, though he kept to the shadows. THe storm portion had mostly passed, the thunder now just low rumbles in the distance. The rain was still steadily falling and didn't look to be letting up any time soon.

He leaned against the cool stone, arms folded and sharp eyes out on the forest around them.

Millicent nodded, knowing he wasnt going to budge on the matter. She carefully laid down, arm under her head. Honestly? Between the comforting scent of Alek's cloak and Kisha curled up beside her she felt more safe in this dank cave than she had in this castle... "Alright. Night, Alek...." She relented, finally letting her eyes slip shut. It was going to be a long day tomorrow.

"Goodnight, Millicent," Alek responded quietly as he settled in against the wall for a long night of vigilance.

The hours ticked by as though the entire world had slowed down just to spite Alek. Without any sort of dial to tell time or the moon to help him, it was just endless dark....and endless rain. The falls were loud, but the rain was rather soothing...soothing enough that after four hours of staring at darkness and water, Alek began to nod. He'd since sat down on the ground, his back against the wall, knees up and arms resting on them.

Without his consent, his eyes eventually drifted shut, his head fell back against the wall and he slipped into a deep sleep, only realizing as his last struggle against it failed that he hadn't really slept in the past two or three nights -- he was well overdue for a good rest...
