Millicent shook her head, finally raising her eyes to his as conflict raged in her. "It has been getting harder these past few years. Its worse under stress and I'm not exactly on vacation right now, Alek." She said honestly, biting her lip to reign in her temper. It wouldn't help now. "You say I don't want to...but I have. I have hurt you...caused myself pain. Whenever I think I have control over it something goes wrong. I can't take that risk. I know you think this is a mistake, and maybe you're right. I'm just a sheltered, pampered princess, right? But please, I'm asking you to consider this. Really, really consider this." |

Alek stared at her for a while before shaking his head. He wasn't going to allow anyone else to try and hurt her before he could get her somewhere safe. "Fine, I'll think on it." That was a loose promise, one he didn't intend on making good on. She needed to understand that there was only so much he could do and dealing with strangers whom he knew he couldn't trust? He walked back further into the cave. "You should come away from the rain, my Lady. We can't have an open flame in case the guards should stray close to here, but it's comfortable back here. You should get some rest... .I'm sure you're exhausted and we have a long road ahead of us as soon as I can secure us a path through the kingdom." Which was going to be another problem..... Alek sighed as he sat down, straightening his drenched clothes. What had he gotten himself into with this escapade? |

Millicent sighed, knowing that he didn't mean it. He was humoring her like everyone else. "Would it kill you to say my actual name for once?" She asked him simply, a slight bitterness to her voice. She blew out a breath, calming herself before walking back towards Alek. "I am exhausted...stressed...gods above I haven't eaten since near dawn." She winced as she sat beside him, obviously fighting back tears. "And this damn gown. I think a bone in the corset snapped. It keeps stabbing me." She huffed a little bit wrapping her arms around her knees and resting her forehead against them. What the hell was she doing?! She was in way over her head here. Kisha curled up against Millicent on the other side, head by her feet as if watching to insure Alex didn't do anything. |

Alek eyed the dog warily, uncomfortable with it's continued presence here. Nevertheless, he looked over to Millicent and realized he hadn't really bothered with her, even though the entire reason he was here was because of her. He was single-minded at times and if there was one thing he was bad at, it was curbing his survival skills. They always were number one priority when his safety was compromised. He took a deep breath and released it, relaxing the muscles in his tense body. "...I'm sorry," he finally said, his voice quiet and at ease again. He he had his own knees up, his arms resting lightly on them. He watched her for a few extended moments. "I know... that you must be ten thousand times more ill at ease than I am and I'm not helping at all, am I? Did you bring extra clothing? You should start with a change while I see what kind of provisions my brother gave me..." |

Millicent took another deep breath, wiping stubbornly at her face with a sarcastic laugh. Finally she just sighed with a nod as she lifted her head slightly, resting her cheek on her knees. "Yeah...I can't get the damn gown off though." She said simply, rubbing her sore hands together. "My hands took the beating for that one." She added shaking her head with a sigh as she leaned back against the cold wall of the cave. Pathetic. She was pathetic. Couldn't even defeat a damn gown. She couldn't even do that correctly. |

"Well...." Alek trailed off, pausing for a moment before looking at her again. He could see how tired she already was, how this was already taking it's toll and it had barely even begun. "I can help. Not... of course, the entire way, but I can loosen the bodice enough for you to change. Honestly, you're going to have to do something... I highly doubt we can move unnoticed through the countryside with you in a beautiful gown." |

Millicent felt a faint heat in her cheeks, happy for the darkness of the cave. She hadn't even thought to ask him for help to be honest. "...thanks. That...that would help a lot. The rest of my clothes I packed are much plainer. Well, what I packed anyway. Apparently Leila had a hand in the rest..." She mused, looking almost amused at the thought. She sighed lightly as she hoisted herself to her feet. She took what looked like a much simpler traveling dress from one of the saddlebags, knowing the pendulum was in its pocket. She knew Alek would be mad but...for once she'd wish someone would actually trust her opinions on things. She walked back over to him, setting the dress down carefully before turning her back to Alek. She kept the cloak over her front, though, just in case. Though there were straps on the gown she could feel the strain in the stitching connecting them to the rest of the gown. She'd just happy to not have the corset bone stabbing her... Alek stood up as well, waiting for her to gather her things. As she turned her back, he walked up to her, his fingers nimbly starting the process of loosening the bodice for her. His eyes remained intently focused on the strings of the corset. He didn't even attempt to sneak a peek at anything else, his hands remained completely on the fabric. She didn't even feel him brush the skin of her back. "I've been thinking on where we should go," he offered quietly as he worked, tossing his head to move his still-wet hair out of his eyes. "The Guard is required by law to search for you for seven solid days, sun up to sun down and as much of night as possible... so that marks tomorrow as the first day. We can't wait that out here..." |

Millicent nodded, taking a deep breath as she felt the constriction lift. Oh thank the gods. Despite not feeling his fingers, she was ridiculously aware of his presence behind her and what he was doing. "Where were you thinking? I only know the woods. Word of this will travel fast, you know that....any possible connections I could have are worthless. They won't go against Damon." She told him simply, eyes widening as she heard the snap of the threads. She had barely enough time to squeal and wrap the cloak around her before the gown landed with a thud to the floor. Without the added support of the corset all of the weight rested on the already fatigued straps. She felt her cheeks burning as she stood there in just Alek's cloak. She couldn't even get words out. "Yes, I understand that, but trust me, there are people out there that disagree with the king and the way he rules us," Alek assured her quietly. He saw the first snap of her gown and instead of standing there, hoping for a show or laughing like most men might do in that situation, Alek immediately turned away, eyes shut so he didn't disrespect her. He turned his back to her, staring at the the water that fell over half the mouth of the cave. "...That being said.... I think we need to head toward Beyfield," he continued, not even trying to shift a glimpse. |
