Millicent sighed as Alek fully returned to his guarded normalcy. She took a breath once he left the carriage. Her magic always acted up when he was around. She figured it was because he was in such a close proximity to her. That had to be it. She hesitated, fixing her gloves before taking his hand and stepping out of the carriage with a nod in thanks. Despite her earlier words about his dress, she was sweating despite the thin fabric of the gloves. Once she was on the ground she just as quickly let go, brushing out her dress slightly. "You know you can call me by my name. Promise it isn't cursed." She told him simply as they walked, smiling a bit as she heard the clamor of the market. |

"Noon time tomorrow is perfect." Aleron agreed with Farron, not even bothering to try and argue or haggle the prices. Haggling was never his thing. It was something he found pointless. If it was too high, he usually would just leave to a more agreeable merchant. Taking the list back, he smiled softly at her. "Thank you lady blacksmith." He told, seeming to have no issues with the fact that she indeed was a woman. - Asta's eyes narrowed at his words, the green orbs flashing before she put a tap on her temper. She didn't know why he made her hackles raise, but he just did. "Well I'm glad to be of service. Have a nice day, Randon." She tried to depart again, hoping this time she wouldn't make a fool of herself. She was tired of pretty boy grins that she only wanted to smack off his smug face. Her village had left her a little bitter towards men in general (the only exception being Aleron) so she usually didn't have a lot of patience for them. |

Randon chuckled with a shake of his head, about to return the sentiment when she nearly walked in front of a cart weaving through the crowd. Nearly sighing, he grabbed her hand and pulled her to a stop just in time as it whizzed passed. "Do ye have a death wish, lass? Is that it?" He asked, with a slight laugh as he let go of her hand. She was a peculiar girl, that was for sure. Definitely not from around here. |

Alek assumed his position two steps behind her, nodding to the driver to head back. With the sun lower, the walk back to the castle wouldn't be such a chore. His eyes were on sharp lookout now, no longer as open as they had been in the carriage. This was the city and there were bound to be problems lurking everywhere. She really should have at least three other guards, but she insisted on just him. He wasn't entirely certain why. "Your name could never be a curse, my Lady," he assured her, one hand rested on the hilt of his sword and the other swung what seemed to be idly by his side. Yet nothing he did while on duty was idle; it was the side Millicent was on, prepared to grab her out of harm's way at a moment's notice. -- Farron eyed this stranger for a moment as she rested her hands backwards on her hips, thumbs pointing toward him. No one ever assumed she was the blacksmith. Everyone always asked to SPEAK to the blacksmith, even though she was covered in dirt and grime 90% of the time and wore a blacksmith's apron. Her profession was widely still male-dominant and no one seemed to acknowledge that a woman could be just as good, if not better than some of the hacks on Smithy Row. "No thank you's until yeh see the fruits," she asserted, though abruptly cut off by the sound of things crashing in the storeroom. She swung around, "ELLIOT. HARLAN." Massive giggled followed two streaks of black hair as they bolted out of the forge and into the streets. Farron frowned and glared at them, though it was cut short by a little one that came toddling in, giggling and swinging a hay-stuffed bear. "Wily little bastards those two," she mumbled before taking two long strides and scooping up the toddler into her arms. He giggled wildly and squealed, his shock of curly black hair identifying him as another of either sibling or offspring. She placed him on her hip as he threw the bear square at Aleron. "Jareth," she scolded, flicking him lightly in the nose. |

Aleron raised his eyebrow at the look Farron was giving him. He just smirked softly, looking at the moment, like a natural traveler. His shirt and pants were dusty, covered constantly in the fruits of a good days ride, his leather boots scuffed and well worn. His hair was shaggy, beginning to fall into his eyes and probably needing a cut. His face had a dirt smudge on the side from spirits only knew what. "As you declared, Lady Blacksmith." He replied to her, his voice having that smooth cadence to it that always put people at ease. His eyes darted over as he heard the crashing and let out a chuckle. When the other child toddled out, he smiled, not seeming to mind the craziness of Farron's siblings. When the youngest one threw the bear at him, he simply bent down and picked it up. Brushing off the dirt of the street he walked over and handed it over. "I think you lost this bud." He smiled at the child, dimples showing through again. - All Asta could do was close her eyes as she saw the car coming towards her. Groaning, she turned and looked towards Randon again, that mysterious pink back in her tanned cheeks. "No particularly." She muttered. She wiped her hand that he held on her brown leather pants as if his touch was offending, but it was because she was just simply not used to being so... touchy feely. Maybe she should just go put Camulos up for the night and hide in her room or the stables where it was safe. At least safe for her. "Look, can you just point me in the direction of the Sleeping Boar inn and tavern?" She asked him. |

Millicent felt her cheeks burn as she drew up her hood to block some of the sun but she was sure he caught the blush. He never missed anything, unfortunately. "That's not what I meant and you know it." She pointed out sagely, pausing by a stall to look over the inks for sale. She paused, glancing over her shoulder at him. "...but thank you." She added with her usual small smile before looking back to the goods before settling on a gorgeous dark green ink. She paid the merchant, ignoring the nervous glance he gave Alek. It was the true downside to have him completely suited. No one acted normal. She turned to move on, not noticing the cart weaving through ... |

"Oh bloody hells, now you've done it," Farron groaned. The toddler grabbed the bear and smiled not-so-shyly at all...then threw it again. "Just walk out, traveler, you'll be here for hours if you don't." The little boy squirmed in Farron's arms, squeaking and pointing at the bear. "Be'ah," he said, kicking his legs. "Be'ah!" -- Alek did notice the blush and it caused his lips to twitch, only momentarily. He'd caught himself before enjoying watching that happen. He firmly believed the Princess wasn't nearly as happy as she could be, even if he had no idea what would make her happy. That sort of thinking was far beyond his station. He allowed her a few extra steps of space as she browsed the inks, not wanting to hover, yet at the same time, he watched every move the merchant made, including how much was charged. Whereas Millicent thought his regalia was a negative, Alek found it kept everyone just that much more honest. He nodded his head to the merchant as they moved on, wondering how much that man must dislike him. He was many years Alek's senior, yet Alek had the gall to nod as if they were equals. He turned his attention back forward when he heard squalls of anger. What happened next was an absolute knee-jerk reaction. He saw the cart, barreling through people at an unapproved, dangerous speed, practically running people over, coming straight at Millicent. "Millicent!" Thanking the Gods he had long arms, he looped it easily around her waist and pulled her back against him, still somehow careful not to smash her into the metal of his breastplate. |

Random quirked an amused eyebrow, "Look I'm heading that way anyway. I'll walk with ye, lest another cart comes through you wish to step in front of..." He offered simply, hoisting his parcel over his shoulder once more. "Least I can do, lass after the guards sent he flyin. Humor me." He mused with a soft smirk. |

Millicent only had time to blink at the sound of her name before she felt an arm around her and suddenly a body very close to her. She let out a breath of relief when she realized what happened. She blinked when she realized who she was so close to and felt her cheeks burn once more. She cursed herself for being so easily flush as she stood back up fully and out of his arm. "Thank you." She told him but she looked at her feet instead as she spoke, trying to regain some composure. It failed in that her hood had fallen around her shoulders and exposed her red cheeks to the world. She was such a mess. "Glad one of us pays attention..." She added, her slightly awkward way of trying to joke as she looked back to him, cheeks not nearly as hot but still rather pink. |

Alek frowned as he did a quick check over her to be sure nothing was injured. Save the pink cheeks, she looked perfect. He scolded himself silently for that mental comment. "It's why I'm here," he reassured her as he stepped forward, no longer giving her that berth of room between them. He saw a couple of town guards standing on a corner not far from the two of them. "Laggards," he mumbled quietly. Eyes were now on them, many eyes, provoked by Alek's shouting of their Princess's name. He regretted the action as soon as he'd done it, but he couldn't have stifled it if he'd tried. "I apologize, my Lady. I should've seen the cart coming sooner to avoid having to pull you away. I do hope I didn't hurt you," he said, the practiced apology re-entering his tone. |
