"Please, no m'lord, I'm hardly that. Alek'll do," he insisted as he kept his voice quiet. "I heard you mention that something was going on tonight. I've heard the same thing, but no one, especially not my superiors, tell us lowlife guards what's really going on. Would you be willing to divulge the information?"

Liza giggled lightly, "Alek it is then. I'm Liza." She said simply, a small smirk coming upon her lips at his question. "Well, word has it that Phillip has the king's blessing and their engagement will be announced tonight at dinner. After she accepts which of course she will..."

"Ye don't know that..." Clara piped up then, but like the others kept her voice quiet.

"Oh please...she's turned down all otha suitors..." Liza mused simply, waving the notion away.

Phillip wanted to make a face of distaste as the music started up and he realized what the band was playing but it never showed. Even more so, he wanted to wipe that smug look off of Millicent's face. "I'm up for anything your highness puts me through." He assured her in a confident tone, determined to not mess up too much.

-

"I'm not trying to be a flatterer." Aleron stated simply as he smiled over at her as they walked. "So why's it glowing like that?" he asked her, not even seeming to be bothered that she had just been glowing a moment ago. He had held countless magical objects of the year. The allure of glowing had died on him quite some time ago.

When they reached the end of the alley and Farron offered to split ways now, he shook his head stubbornly. "Let me at least accompany you safely to the gates and outside of them. It's the least I can do. After all, what sort of gentleman would I be if I didn't see to a ladies safety, no matter how accomplished she was?" He asked her as he bowed rather playfully.

Millicent chuckled inwardly, prepping a bit before, like those around them, falling into step easily and quickly. She didn't care if he tripped, fell...even stumbled over her foot. Just seeing him stumble from the little pedestal he put himself on would give her a glimmer of satisfaction. Anything for that smug look to falter... This was one of the things she few princess-y things she actually flourished at and right now she was owning it.

Phillip sort of stumbled into the first step, a bit shaky on his feet, but he was keeping up. His face lit up in a quick scowl before it disappeared and was replaced with his usual smirk. "It seems like her highness is as lithe as ever." He complimented her as he tried not to make too big of an idiot of himself.

Alek almost dropped the small stack of salad plates he was holding. Gods be damned, they were doing it tonight? He confounded himself for being as thick as he was -- of course they were doing it tonight. IT was her nameday, a celebration of her blessing into this world. Why wouldn't they want to ruin it by informing all the delegates that this princess was off the market to a murderous, scheming little prick.

Alek's face twitched at the news, though his grip on the plates sure did tighten. "Their engagement you say. Well, that would explain why I'm in my ceremonial armor." He tried to play it cool, but even HE could hear the tension in his voice. Surely these gossipy maids would interpret it wrong. He had to find his father. Markus was going to HAVE to get the princess out tonight -- there was no more time for games to be played. He'd take her out himself if he had to.

Farron shrugged, "He gets edgy when I'm doin' something I shouldn't," she explained about the glowing before looking back at him. Her hands were perched on her curvy hips, a look on her face that would make any mother proud. "Pretty sure yeh'll just get in my way, traveler. I'm not goin' to the gates right away. I need to check on my sister and the rest of my family. My Da is out on a mat run so they need to get him the message so he doesn't come back and..." She trailed off, waving her hand. "It's too dangerous for you, traveler. Don't you have a pretty little sister to mind?"

"Ah." Aleron said simply when she explained the glowing to him. He didn't even question the fact that she said he. As Farron then proceeded to tell him that she didn't need him and give him a look he knew rather well, all he could do was grin at her. Not his usual smiles, but a full fledged grin that flashed white teeth into the night and caused a dimple to appear on his left cheek. "Why don't I come along anyways? So I can defend my name and honor when you start to think that I didn't do as you ask. And what if something happens? I can't have this on my conscious, knowing that I willingly left. Besides, Asta is much safer at the moment than you or I." He promised her.

"Far be it from me to guide a daft man sane," Farron replied, giving up on the argument. He was a handsome traveler though.... that she couldn't help but admit. That grin was infectious, though she knew well enough to be smart. She turned and glanced out the alley-end again. "Clear as is," she said quietly as she left the alley. She kept close to the rows of buildings, even though the lamps light both her and Aleron perfectly.

Each time they passed an open flame, the glow on Farron's chest grew a bit before settling back down. She placed her hand over it again and murmured too quietly for Aleron to hear.

"What's your aim, traveler? I haven't any extra coins and if it's blackmail or some sort of damsel in distress bit you're after, I relish the fact of telling you you've chosen the wrong damsel."

Liza quirked an eyebrow slightly - maybe the rumors were true. "Not a fan of the prince, eh?" She mused, glaring at Carla as she was smacked in the shoulder. It was then she realized Leila was heading over once more. Just when it was all getting good too!

Millicent resisted rolling her eyes at his attempt to compliment her. "And I can see thy is as...nimble as always, m'lord." She mused with the slightest bit of sarcasm in her tone but it was easily hidden under her usual small smile.
