Millicent smiled as she usually did, nodding and greeting as she wove through the throng of people. It was then she realized Prince Phillip was headed towards her. By the look of aggravation on Johnathon's face the prince was already making friends and, by the wine in his hand, getting himself comfortable. As usual. Oh she couldn't wait for him to crawl back into the hole he came from. She quickly but gracefully swerved, putting a good portion of the crowd between herself and him, hoping to stave him off a bit longer. Thanking a server for the wine she quickly downed half the glass, knowing she'd need something to take the edge off. She caught sight of Alek though, stoic as ever, as he was lined up with the other guards. She sent him a small smile, half wishing she could just spend the night using him to dodge everything. He looked a little bit on edge, though. She wondered briefly if the captain had punished him again for getting injured. |

((*wishes she could just spend the night using him. that's as far as you needed to go Millicent..... >:D)) Alek stood at stiff attention, dressed in his Royal Guard finest. It wasn't his normal armor, but ceremonial armor that was only worn on extremely special occasions. It was exceptionally ornate and intricate, the crest of the Royal Family emblazoned on each of the Guard's chests. The armor itself was beautiful -- made of flawless, extremely pale gold metal with black and silver adornments. Alek looked almost regal himself -- his tan face was free of scruff, his hair even looked to be trimmed and he wore the heavy dark grey cloak of the lower ranks of the guards. Though his comrades stood in an unmoving line, their eyes trained forward, Alek's were dancing around the room. It wasn't until Millicent broke away from the countless people trying to get her attention and congratulate her and well-wish her that his eyes found her. And when they did, they locked on her. Whether he realized it or not, they widened a bit as he took her in. She looked radiant, despite the look on her face that told him she was already done with this party before she'd even entered. He found it hard, nay impossible to look away from her as propriety insisted he do. |

((Hahaha I figure that's soon enough given how bunny-ridden our boards become. Right now she's just glaring and bright red....)) Millicent finished off her first of what she figured would be many glasses, looking around to the others around the room. She caught Alek's gaze with a smile, rolling her eyes jokingly before looking down as Kids tugged on her hand. "Why are you hiding?!" "Because Prince Phillip is a creep." Millicent answered honestly, unable to keep from smiling at her sister decked out in tulle and glitter, obviously thoroughly enjoying the night. "But you usually love to dance..." "But I don't like being the center of attention. You know that, pretty girl." She mused, bopping the younger one on her nose as Kida giggled. "I think Alek thinks you're pretty..." She whispered, giggling harder as Millicent turned ridiculously red. "What? Tis true..." Millicent didn't know how to answer that so she didn't, instead in such a fluster she didn't fight her sister leading her out to the floor to dance. She laughed softly and twirled her around at the edge, hoping not to draw too much attention to herself. |

Unfortunately for the princess, this was her birthday celebration and going unnoticed, not being the center of attention...was very literally impossible. Everywhere she turned, she would find smiles and laughs, waves and invites over to their groups. Prince Phillip had nearly crossed through the sea of people to reach Millicent when another man cut in front and bowed in front of the Princess. Coming up from his deep bow was Markus Camilleri, dressed in full, ceremonial armor like his guards, though his cloak wasn't grey cloth, but heavy, crimson silk. His salt and pepper hair had been coiffed for the event, his beard trimmed appropriately. "My Lady Princess, might I have this next dance," He requested formally, bowing yet again, his right hand offered out for her to take. |

Millicent looked up as someone approached, smiling in relief when she saw it was Markus and not Phillip. "Of course, Capitan..." She mused, smiling as her sister scurried off with some other young royalty before taking his hand to be led out onto the floor. Shefollowed him gracefully. Despite wanting to fast forward and be done with the night, she never missed a beat and the usual small smile stayed on her lips. Shed realized then just how close she had come to being trapped in the Prince's presence and couldn't stop the relieved sigh which escaped her lips. |

Markus had no amazing elegance, no transcendent dancing ability. He danced very plainly, his steps in time with the music, but obviously it was a skill he had been taught over the years -- it was not something he did naturally. "How is the Princess this evening," he asked, keeping a respectful distance between them as the song started into a waltz. He frowned at the choice, knowing waltzes were not his strong point. ((OH! I found Markus! He's uploaded on mah Charahubbbbb :D)) Edited by mallyapple19, Jun 24 2014, 01:16 AM.

Millicent gave a small shrug, "I've never been a fan of being the center of attention, but I'm alright. Most of my night, I fear, will be dodging the prince." She mused with a light sigh, biting back a giggle as she saw his reaction to the change in music. She wasn't really a fan of waltzes either. She found them tedious. She knew she'd had no say in the music. Hell, shed hadnt had say in anything save for some of the food and her gown. |

"Mmm..." He looked around as she mentioned the conniving little bastard, but settled for keeping his eyes on things. Just because he wasn't technically on duty didn't mean he wasn't on duty. "I thought it would be best for you to hear it from me," he started ambiguously, leaving a long pause as he struggled to keep in time with the waltz. "Tonight will be Aleksandr's last night as a castle guard. Tomorrow morn I'm sending him with the Caravan. " |

Millicent visibily paled about half a shade under her rouge. Her one ally... "If I may be so bold. On what grounds do you find this move necessary?" She asked him, trying not to show the panic in her voice. This day was getting worse and worse. This couldn't be happening. |

"Not bold at all, Princess. I expected you would want an explanation. I have thought over how I would justify it many times and each time was a bit different, but I think the simplest and most obvious reason is that I fear for his safety here. Rumors are already spreading about the two of you despite what myself and his brother do to quell them. It's only a matter of time before the rumors reach their way to sets of ears we'd never want to hear them." He swung along, getting the rhythm of the song now. "My younger son is very much like his mother, Princess, and in being that way, he doesn't have the common sense to know when something is wrong even though it feels right." His voice was gentle even though he was delivering mournful news. "There are those here that would exploit my son's weaknesses to his downfall and potential death. I, being his father before all else, cannot allow that to happen. I must be strong where my son is weak, for his sake." |
