Randon just chuckled, flipping the apple around in his hand. Hell he was tempted to win over the horse at this point. "Come on now, let a lad make up for the trouble. Least I can do. Besides, I can't help but notice you looking a bit lost. I mean no harm. Do I mean harm, Edith?" He asked the older woman who just laughed and shook her head at his antics. He grinned, looking back to Asta then, "See? If a sweet old shop keeper thinks I'm no harm why should you?" He mused, "Can I at least know the lady's name so I can give a proper apology?"

-----

Millicent let out a light sigh, sounding almost amused but finally complied and went ahead of him. "It was worth a try. Maybe one day you'll realize you listen to me as well as the king." She mused, in a tone that could easily be mistaken as almost mocking but it was off-set by her small smile. She climbed into the carriage easily, knowing they'd walk some of the way to keep something of a low profile but even she relented it was too long of a walk this time of year. She looked over with a small smile as he sat across from her, waiting patiently for them to get going. He was definitely her favorite guard to request, but she wasn't sure why, honestly. She did secretly enjoy getting a rise out of him every now and again. Maybe that's why.

"I'd like to take a walk after the marketplace, just through the woods for a bit. It is a beautiful time of year..." She mused simply, trying to get something of a conversation going.

Aleron was minding his own business when two whirlwinds of hair and chubby children's legs whizzed past him to block his entrance to the forge. He merely raised an eyebrow as he stared at them with sparkling green eyes and trying not to smile. "Hello there little ones. Can I help you with something?" He asked them, his deep voice sounding amused. He adored children, they were always so much fun, their laughter and innocence always infectious.

-

Asta felt her eyebrow raise as she tilted her head to the side to play the dumb female act. At this point, Camulos stepped forward and simply snatched the apple out of Randon's hand, almost taking his fingers with it.

"Hey, manners." Asta finally spoke, her voice light, having an almost airy quality to it; like she'd disappear at any moment. "He doesn't like anybody but me, don't be offended." She told him, not actually giving the man her name. One of the first rules that Aleron had given her for staying off the grid was to not make yourself memorable. Don't give them anything to trace you back with.

Alek glanced at her at the comment, wondering what exactly that meant before he climbed into the carriage, his eyes on the windows, the walls, searching, just to be sure. Surety equaled safety and safety was the only thing that mattered.

He said rigidly, though he didn't look uncomfortable as most of the guards did when in such close proximity with their liege in full armor. "Of course, my Lady," he consented, already mentally walking his way down their proposed path. There were certain places he was authorized to take the princess at her request and while the forest was always a little more unpredictable, the guard had forged paths for them to walk along a few summers back. They could simply take one of those. "We can do whatever you'd like, so long as we're back with enough time for you to ready yourself for supper."

--

The little boys, one slightly taller than the other, stood at attention. One was grinning, the other scowling as if they were two sides of a drama face. The grinning one elbowed the scowling one, who growled and kicked the grinning one in the shin. The grinning one whipped his head of black hair around, no longer grinning, and stared at the scowling one.... then literally just tackled him into the dust and dirt, squealing and flailing and rolling around until finally, a victor came out. The scowling one, the shorter one, was sitting on the grinning one's back. Now he was grinning.

"Hi!" He said, sounding utterly triumphant as his brother bucked and flailed... but the little boy was solid. His brother wasn't going anywhere. "No, but we can help....you!"

Randon barely flinched at the horse's abrupt nature, shaking his head with a small smirk. She could play innocent and dumb all she wanted but there was something behind her eyes that said differently. Horses tended to have issue with him save for his own steed back home. "Oye, no offence taken, lass, but tell him my fingers weren't a part of the deal." He mused with a slight shrug of his strong shoulders. "And I think you forgot the name part. Here, I'll start. My name is Randon. You are..."

----

Millicent gave a small smile as he didn't put up a fuss but it faded when he mentioned supper. Her fingers fidgeted in her lap as she spoke, voice having a rare edge to it even if it was slight. "I'd really rather not go back, to be honest. Prince Phillip is dreadful. Always looking at himself in the mirror. Another horrid little boy who wants to dress up as king." She sighed, looking out the window of the carriage, before slowly turning her eyes back to him. She just seemed tired. Tired of all of the pomp and circumstance. Tired of being paraded. Tired of questions and false smiles.

Aleron actually laughed as the watched the two obvious brothers go at it. He didn't bother to step in and stop the fight; boys would be boys after all. He grinned at them, dimples showing on his tanned cheeks at the action. It was... not an unbecoming look on him. "Hello." He repeated his greetings from earlier. "Ah, are you the might masters of the forge then?" He asked them with yet another raised eyebrow.

-

"I can tell him, but it doesn't mean he will listen." Asta told him with an in-differential shrug. She blinked her sea-foam green eyes at him owlishly as he asked for her name yet again. She just continued to stare at him, not saying anything for a long while. It was like she had gone mute. "Anna. Anna Jacobson." She replied finally. "Have a nice day Randon." She told him with a smile before she tried to move forward. Instead of moving forward, her booted foot caught on a loose cobblestone. Lurching forward with another one of her familiar squeals, her hand caught on a stall, happening to grab a loose post and bringing the whole thing down with her...

Alek didn't miss the change in her tone; he was very keen to that sort of thing, even if he preferred not to mention it. He looked over at her, his warm, chocolate eyes resting a moment or two extra on her face. He wasn't supposed to comment on these sort of matters, but she sounded... unhappy.

He hesitated a moment before looking back out the small carriage window. "...I only received overnight duty for two nights last time we were late," he said, before shifting his eyes to her for a second. This was a rare moment when his personality shone through the Royal Guard that she was so used to. "I'm still not very sure of myself with the approved paths through the forest." He looked back away, his voice completely matter-of-fact as though he were simply stating the obvious.

--

The little black haired boy grinned and nodded. "Yup. We own the place, don't we, Elliot?"

Elliot, the defeated brother, just grunted, having given up his flailing.

"Oi, bloody hells, get off'a him," came a feminine voice from behind Aleron. "Slimy little fetchers!" She slid past Aleron, carrying an arm load of tanned leather. As she passed the boys, she kicked her heel up and threw dust and dirt into the victor's face. He sputtered and scrambled off his brother. Whereas the boys didn't have much of an outsider's accent, this tall, well built woman had quite a thick, distinct one. She dropped the leathers onto a wide work table and turned around, dragging her arm over her forehead and spreading dirt across it.

She didn't smile welcomingly, she didn't greet Aleron with a warm hello, she merely brushed off her dirty hands and whacked the boys in the head as they passed by her.

"Can I help yeh?" she asked, wiping her hands on her men's styled, loose shirt that was tucked into dirty riding breeches.

Randon chuckled, tipping his hat as she went to leave. He instinctively grabbed her as she fell but it wasn't any good to poor Eliot's stand topper. He cringed at the crash, and as the yelling began. "Bit of a clutz, aren't ya Anna." He mused, setting her back on her feet before stepping between her and the shop owner quickly turning red. "Now Eliot..."

"What did you do!? You-"

"Now Eliot, all she did was give ye an excuse to finally replace that horrid shading you've been patching since Max was was a wee babe." He mused simply, slapping a hand on the older man's shoulder and finally gaining his attention. "Tell you what. Liera has been offering my poor, weak frame food for some time. I'll have this fixed up and set first thing in the morning. New shading and all." He bargained, fully relaxing once Eliot settled under his hand. He nodded and with that Randon quickly helped him set the shading back right and out of the way of the crowd, making a temporary post out of an old broom handle.

He smiled as he looked back to Asta, "Already makin' me work for yer attention lass?" He teased lightly as everything slowly moved back into place. He needed to lay low for a few days after his haul so it wasn't like helping Eliot was a horrible inconvenience.

----

Millicent blinked, looking fully at him then with a small smile at what he hinted at. She wished she could get that to come out more. The real him. She bit back her sigh as he returned to his normal tone with her, nodding lightly. "It is easy to get lost. They didn't do a very good job." She agreed, even though she knew they both knew those pathways by heart. "But...you being on overnight means I'm stuck with Reynolds." She made a slight face for the briefest of moments. Reynolds was a bumbling buffoon of her step-father's nephew. She never felt safe enough with him to go anywhere alone. He was always looking at her out of the side of his eyes. It was rather creepy to be honest. It also meant she was stuck home until Alek was off his punishment.

Aleron turned as he heard the voice and nodded respectfully towards the girl from earlier at the tanner's. Ah, so she must be the blacksmith. It made more sense now. His sharp eyes easily picked up the relation between her and the two young boys. If the looks didn't give it way, the way she treated them surely did. They had to be siblings. When she approached him all business like, he offered a soft smile. "I was wondering if you could make everything for me on my list and give me a possible timeline?" He asked her as he pulled out a scrap of parchment and offered it up to her. It was a small list,; supplies you often saw with people who were on the road often.

-

Asta's cheeks were a bright pink, easily overcoming her tanned cheeks. "I'm so sorry!" She squeaked out, hating how klutzy she was. Why did she always have to have such bad luck. She blinked as Randon stepped in and smoothed things out for her. She stared at him again as he started to speak. Why did he do that? What did it mean for him? She didn't want to owe him any favors...

"It wasn't mean like that!" She barked out before stopping. "I... thank you." She finally bit out.

"Very poor indeed," Alek agreed with a brief nod as the carriage began to slow. They were a street or two over from the market heart and would walk from here to avoid too much attention... not that a Royal Guard in full armor and cloak was very blended.

Reynolds was a miserable excuse of unrefined nepotism. Alek's father was Captain of the Guard and Marek, his brother, was Second Captain, but all three of them had worked remarkably hard to earn their Royal Signet. Reynolds was stuffed into the ranks simply because he had no better place to be. Not to mention he was more likely to run away screaming than protect the Princess if something happened. This was another subject he shouldn't be commenting on. Improper.

The glimmer of Alek's true personality had been stifled as the carriage came to a stop and he pushed open the door. He paused for a moment. "I'm sure I can navigate us properly if the Lady wishes to return on time. I believe I found my compass just a moment ago." He ducked out into the blazing sun and stood beside the door, his hand proffered for her use.

--

Farron walked over and took up the list, eyes flickering over it as she noted what was left in the storeroom. Easily done. She looked up at the man, noting his clothes, his stance, the way he held himself. Not from around here. Easy money.

She held the list back to him. "I can have everything by mid-morning tomorrow for 30 silvers, noon time for 20, sundown for 10. Yeh won't find another smithy willing to do same day service if yeh feel like haggling."

Randon quirked an eyebrow in amusement as she reacted, especially those bright pink cheeks of hers. "Aye so you do have a bit of a spark to ya." He chuckled, "And pleasure is mine. Liera's been begging him to change that shading for years. Man's too stingy for his own good. Did the poor lass a favor really." He shrugged lightly, giving her a small grin. As much as she didn't want to leave an impression on him she was doing a poor job.
