A jab of anger went through her at his story and she didn't know why. She figured it was more at the people in the story. They were the reason people like her had to hide. Those who abused their powers to gain for themselves. "Alek..." She trailed off, biting her lip, "I-I am so...so sorry. I-I know this is hard but you're right. I definitely didn't chose this life. I was raised with fear. From a young age I saw the horrible things magic had done...but I also saw the beauty. My father made sure that I didn't think of myself cursed or -- My own mother doesn't even know! My bastard of a step-father would have my head on a spike before hearing reason." She bit her lip, taking another breath, trying to contain herself but it was getting harder and Alek could see the faint shimmer in the air around her. "I have been trying...trying just to be normal. I knew the instant someone found out they'd either use it against me or turn me in without a second glance. I--I didn't mean to put you in this situation and I am so...so sorry for that." |

Alek listened, but the truth of it was bearing down on his shoulders. Magic was outlawed by the highest powers not only in their city, but in the entirety of the civilized world. Kingdoms had come together to swear on it's banishment, forging pacts and agreements to stamp out it's hold on the world. Hundreds, thousands of people had been killed as a result of the incidents that weren't so long ago. Magic was dangerous...no matter how harmless it seemed. It would always twist it's user into doing things no natural person would be able to do. "I know and know that I accept your apology -- to be honest, it wasn't as if you wanted to tell me. I just happened to be there, just happened to make a stupid error and if anything, you saved my life and for that I'm grateful. But....Princess..." He paused and looked up at her from the ground. "I don't know what to do now." |

Millicent's eyes turned on him them, feeling hopeful and then it happened. The ground disappeared under her as he couldn't make eye contact with her. "No. You know. You're so bloody trained into what is right and what is wrong. You know full bloody well what you're going to do. It must be so nice, guardsman, to see the world in black and white. Good and evil." Her voice, though marginally louder than she usually was, it was shaky and one could hear her panic. She was still gripping the book close to her but her knuckles were no longer white. As if she was debating throwing it. Unknown to her, her power was pulsing off of her, making pebbles on the ground rattle. "You're a coward, Alek. You are so consumed with what others will think of you. Of getting your precious father's approval that you'd undermine me. You ask why did I request you?! Why the bloody hell did you come! Verily, thou art nothing more than a goatish knave. Can't even look me in the eyes like a man." She nearly spat, anger replacing the panic and her eyes grew cold and defensive. Kisha appeared from the woods but stayed on the edge, as if waiting for a signal from her master. "Either save yourself because you are scared of something you don't know or you will actually your dense, bigot mind to the possibility that someone with magic could actually not be evil. Not out to get you. That they come to you for help and forgiveness and no matter what they say they merely get fear in response." She was breathing rather heavy at this point, "I order you, guardsman, speak!" And with that last word a massive pulse went through the forest. It knocked Alek back harshly, sent any bird off their pitch and into the sky, animals scattered... at the same time flowers bloomed and the clearing was suddenly a luscious green instead of the scorched yellow of summer. Millicent stumbled back, face draining and looking pale. She felt her throat clench, her eyes burned... What had she just done? |

Whatever this was, whatever she was doing, Alek wasn't prepared for it. What had he said that had set her off? The moment the rocks on the ground began to vibrate, Alek took a step back. His instinct was to draw his weapon, but this was Millicent... his princess and once even, a friend. But was she anymore? Her voice didn't sound like her own, filled with bitterness and anger, two things he knew all people possessed, but Millicent had never shown him. "Princ--" was all he managed to get out before he was thrown backward by a wall of pure energy. His back met he trunk of a tree, his head snapping back on it harshly. For a moment his vision went dark, only to be replaced with spots a few seconds later. He sunk forward to hands and knees, feeling the warm liquid trickling down his neck before a drop of it hit the now verdant ground. He looked up at Millicent, conflict mired by confusion in his gaze. |

Once Aleron had made it quite a ways into the forest, he finally let go of the breathe he was holding and it was like coming home after a long day as all of the tension drained from his body from having to hid his powers constantly. Asta just grinned as she began to hear the tiny voices which meant that the Fey were nearby and were excited to see them. What was once a butterfly was now a beautiful tiny maiden with wings as she flew over and landed delicately on Aleron's shoulder and began to talk excitedly in his ear as she told him all about her day. The trees sighed in the wind, seeming to come alive as women melted from the trunks and onto the ground as they danced around them, Asta clapping excitedly as she waved hello, the sprites waving back. A rabbit hopped over, its ears twitching curiously as it watched them, birds singing as they flew down and celebrated. It was... an interesting sight to see. "Oh I do so love this! I envy your gift, Aleron." She said as one of the dryad's came up and twirled her around and began to dance. Aleron just chuckled as he bent down and tapped a dying mushroom so it grew back to a healthy state, the brownie living under it waving and thanking him. "Don't forget the price that it comes with dear cousin. Being hunted is not all that it's cracked up to be." He informed her as the continued to walk and Aleron continued to de-stress. As they meandered through the forest, greeting all sorts of Fey folk, animals, and plants alike, Aleron paused when a fox came up to him and began to tell him of his day. When he mentioned a beautiful princess with the a kind heart, he paused. Especially when he told him more about said princess with powers. Not able to help his curiosity, he changed his and Asta's path to one that would hopefully connect with the woman's. It wasn't unheard of to hear of magick users deep within a forest where it was safe for them to practice. But a princess? Royalty itself? This he had to see. They were nearly there according to different reports from the animals, Asta not really paying attention as she danced, tripped, ran, skipped, tripped more, and once again next to him when it happened. The pulse shot through them and Asta nearly fell back onto a bed of flowers that bees and and fairies alike were grooming and tending to. Darting forward at the sound of a voice, Aleron came crashing through as he stopped at what he saw; a princess in the clearing surrounded by lush grass and flowers with her guard. And he just gave himself away. Great. |

Millicent felt everything drain and she ran over when she saw the blood speckle the ground. She set the journal to the side and kneeled beside him, "I--I am s-s-so...so sorry." She chocked out, gently resting her hands on the back of his head. "A-Alek I am so-so sorry..." She took off her cloak, gingerly using the material to wipe the blood away so she could see his head better, unaware of the tears streaming down her cheeks as she helped him sit back. It wasn't him she was angry at. She'd held in her secret for years and now suddenly someone knew and...and she was hoping for a different answer. That maybe her friendship with him wasn't imagined. That maybe she'd have an ally within the walls. His hesitation had caused something to snap...something now she obviously regretted deeply. She went to apologize again when she heard Kisha growl. She whipped her head around, still holding the material to the wound, and saw the new young man standing there. "Wh-who are you!? G-go away! Go!" She let out a chocked yell, looking back to Alek and feeling absolutely sick and not able to concentrate long enough to heal the gash on his head. Today was a bloody disaster... |

Alek was still a bit dazed when she approached him, but eventually gathered himself up and he pulled away from her help. "Just....don't," he mumbled to her. He crawled a couple lengths before pulling himself up to his feet, using a tree trunk to help steady himself. That, right there had only proved his point tenfold. Magic was dangerous, no matter how harmless it seemed. When the unwelcome beast growled, Alek found that someone else had joined them. Someone else had just witnessed whatever that had been. Pressing his hand to his gash, he remained utterly silent, assessing the man. He'd come running toward them, not away... |

Millicent just let her hands fall, sinking back on her heels as she felt the sobs bubble up in her chest as he pulled himself away from her. Oh bloody hell what had she done. "A-Alek p-please..." She choked out, not caring who was around. What difference did it make at this point. "Y-your hurt. P-please l-let me help. I didn-you know I-I'd ne-never..." She went silent and stared hard at the ground, knowing she could just run but she wouldn't get very far. She couldn't return to the castle without him...nor with him injured. She was numb as Kisha placed her body in front of her, acting as a guard from the two men. That cemented it. She'd leave after the ball, when it was darkest. Leave a note for Kida. Ride off where she couldn't hurt anyone else... |

Aleron was a smart man, or so he liked to think, so it didn't take long hearing them all talk to figure out the gist of what happened. Apparently the princess had no control over her gift. She must have hidden it her whole life and had no way to train herself. Holding his hands out in a soothing gesture, he took one, slow step forward. "It's okay. I'm not an enemy." He called out to them, specifically the princess and the wolf. Kneeling down, he held his hand out for the wolf to scent and familiarize herself with him. "Be calm, sister for I want no trouble here." He spoke, sending his powers out soothingly to tame the beast. His eyes darted back to the princess and over to the man with the gash on his head. "I can help... if you let me." He offered up quietly, making his tone as gentle and passive as possible. |

Millicent realed back from Aleron as he approached and while Kisha didn't attack him she kept her place between him and her master. Obviously the bond ran much deeper than just magic as a growl, though softer, remained. She weighed his words, trying to think clearly but all she could see was the blood now staining the cloack. "He...he won't let me h-help. I...I didn't mean...." She felt the sobs bubbling up again and tried her hardest to push them back down. |
