Celeste laughed at Kai, finding that she really did like Kyler's mouthy little mate. She knew how to hold her own, and she found that very agreeable. Then there was the fact that Kai looked after her baby sister all these years in school. She couldn't ever forget that. Kyler smiled as Kai relaxed against him for that brief moment while the others weren't in the room. He kissed the top of her head sweetly, arms still around her. Sadly, he was right and the moment was brief. Soon enough, Haven walked in, and with Haven were the rest of the top of the pack. Celene's happy smirk seemed to vanish as she stood up straighter. She looked to Haven and he held his hands up. "I'm calm. Don't give me that look, woman or I'm going to beat it out of you." He said as she snorted in amusement, and seemed to calm down. He'd never lay a hand on her violently, but he always threatened it. It was a little game of theirs that they played. If anything, it was Celene that abused Haven. It was a very strange relationship, but it worked. "Okay, are we ready to actually get this going? The whole pack is pretty much here, and they're milling around downstairs, waiting impatiently for us to start." He said as he looked around. When he heard no objections, he pointed to a photo on one of the walls. "This is Stuart Newcastle, the Alpha of Stonecreek. His Beta was Thomas Creed. His cousin." He sent a glare to Ian as his Beta just tried to keep from rolling his eyes. He knew he fucked up, he didn't need a constant reminder. "As a whole, Stonecreek isn't a very big pack. They're half our size. They have this one nasty habit though. They like to dip their claws in Spider shifter venom." He said, looking around at them all. He knew a lot of them knew what that was like from the Spider shifter invasion a couple of years back. Some of them had scars from the stuff. "Anothering thing is they're fond of guerilla tactics. The run in, kill a couple and run away for those who are too stupid to know what that means," He looked to Diana then as she kept from rolling her eyes. But there was a cough of amusement coming from Hazel at this point. "So, instead of taking them head on, since the pussies are too afraid to do it themselves, why don't we set traps for them?" Hazel piped up in a bored tone. "And just toss aside our honour?! Are we to become as bad as them!?" Diana demanded as Hazel rolled her eyes. "Bitch, please. Like you know what the word means. Besides, it's called war and survival. I'm not going to sit there and face some prissy wolf who knows it will lose so it puts poison on its claws. You may have gotten away scotch free during the Invasion, but I got bitten by one of those spiders. That venom works differently than poison. Do you know anything about spiders? It's a slow death. The venom slowly runs through your veins. Paralyzing you as it begins to melt everything down. Kind of like embalming. Oh wait! Your dumb ass doesn't know what that means either." She mocked Diana who looked like she wanted to smack her. "Spiders don't have teeth or mouths like other things. They have to find other ways to eat their pray. It's why their venom can be so deadly. Normal spiders, we'd be fine. But shifter spiders are deadly. They have enough venom to kill you within one small bite. All you need is a couple of drops in your blood stream." She explained as Celene rolled her eyes. "Quit telling horror stories, Hazel. You gonna lecture everybody else at the Gathering. Have them more scared than they are, already?" She asked with a raised eyebrow as Hazel rolled her eyes. "Nah, I was just teaching bimbo babie a lesson she should have learned in High School. But she was too busy blowing the teacher to get an A to pay attention it seems. Oh wait, that was YOUR sister wasn't it? Little miss, coming home engaged to the man?" She said as Celene somehow managed to keep the smile off of her face as Diana's face turned red in outrage. It didn't last when Hazel talked about Sare though, and her eye twitched at that. Sare immediately ran into Celeste's arms and gave her big sister a giant hug. Standing up close, they really didn't look anything alike. Unless you sat there and studied them. They had the same nose, and mouth shape. Some of their motions were the same. You could tell that Serephina really looked up to her big sister. "Hi you guys." Celeste said with a laugh as Jared smiled at them, shaking Bryce's hand before moving over to his twin brother. Another example that twins didn't have to be identical. "Hey." He said, and Devin finally gave an actual smile that whole morning, pulling his brother tightly into a 'manhug'. "Hey." Devin replied back as he pulled back. His brother and him may not be a lot a like, but they were close and got along very well. "So where are your hip attachments? I figured you would be here with Iggy, and where's Betta, Bryce? She hasn't left your alone once since you've gotten back I thought." She teased him lightly before looking over and frowning at Devin. "Dear, what's wrong?" She asked, catching the far away look in his eye. He looked back to her with a faint smile. He didn't say anything outloud, not wanting people to nose their way into his business. Wolves were way too nosy for their own good. But he told her and his brother what happened real quick mentally. Celeste immediately walked over and wrapped him up in a tight hug that did make him feel better he had to admit. He hugged her back as she kissed the top of his head like a mother would. "Oh baby, I'm so sorry. I know Kai is doing a wonderful job to take care of her, but do you want me come by and see her? I certainly don't mind." She offered up as Devin shook his head. "No, you're going to be really bu-" "Don't you finish that young man!" Celeste told him sharply as she wagged her finger at him. "I'll come over later to come see her. Not only does she need healing, but she needs people to let her know that we still love her." She said as Devin tried not to smile. "Yes mama." He teased her as she rolled her eyes and gave him another hug. Edited by never_fade_away, Jul 31 2012, 03:11 PM.

Kai stiffened as the others walked in, standing up and discreetly moved out of Kylers arms as the others went on and on. She knew her temper didnt show on her face but it showed in the temperature of her skin. Unlike Celene who twitched Kai spoke up at Hazel's comment about Sare. That girl was like her sister and no one spoke about her that way. "If youd get your heads out of your prissy asses you'd realize there is more going on than your outrageous jealousy and constant need for attention. Past is the past and last time I checked no one gave a rat's ass about either of your opinion on the subject then or now. Either keep focused on the topic at hand or shut the hell up." She leveled Hazel and Diana with a glare, ignoring the shiver that went down her when she thought of the spider shifter she'd faced prior to Solstice. It wasn't the creature itself but the way she killed him that made her stomach churn. She looked back to Haven then, "Peanut gallery comments aside, what exactly is the plan here?" She asked him simply, arms crossed loosely. Bryce smiled as he greeted the others, laughing softly as Celeste scolded Devin. He could see the respect in the wolves eyes and he could easily see why. "Yeah, it's been a rough night but she's improving slowly. Unfortunately it delays our departure, hence why Haven is more aggivated than usual." He told them before letting out another chuckle. "I really want to tell them all to take a bloody picture. The staring is getting old, fast." It didn't help much that, like Iggy he stood at a cool 6'4". |

Hazel rolled her eyes at Kai's comment. "I was focused. Somebody had to know how dangerous this was." She pointed out, not phased at all by Kai's attitude. Haven huffed as he finally got a chance to speak, glaring at Hazel who just glared back. "That's what we're discussing right now. I think we should bring everybody into one well guarded area. Since they're so fond of surprise attacks, it's easier to protect everyone if they're in on place. The mansion would be perfect for this since there's room for everyone, and it's a defensible position. I've been thinking of a way to fight them without getting hurt, and I think I've got it. We don't shift at all. We use guns. Hazel is right. I don't want to risk anybody's lives for their cowardice." He said as he looked around for input. Not that their input would sway his mind at all. "Well, Haven can get over himself." Celeste said with a smile, before laughing quietly. "They'll get over it soon, dear. You're the brand new toy they're curious about. Give it another month or so and it will wear off." She promised him as she patted his hand. Given her tall height, she was only 3 or 4 inches shorter than Bryce herself. "Come on now." She said as she wrapped her arm around Sare's shoulders and her little sister leaned into her, feeling better now. "Why don't we go down to the basement auditorium and get good seats? It'll be quiet down there for a little while at least before they all see the inner circle and start piling in themselves." She told them as she kissed the top of Sare's head. Sare smiled as she tugged on Bryce and Devin's hands again. It was obvious that she felt much more comfortable now with her sister here. |

Kai thought about it for a moment, nodded but spoke up again, "Its a good defensive strategy but what happens when they realize you're all in one place. Its a good plan but like any it has its flaws. Even the dullest of enemies will realize that at the same time they cant get in, you cant get out." She told him simply, tilting her head a bit. She wasn't fighting him nessicarily, just pointing out a major flaw which could cripple the chances of the whole pack. This wasn't her first war and certainly wouldn't be her last. Devin nidded with a warm smile, "Hopefully...." he mused, blinking as Sare dragged him and Devin with her to the auditorium downstairs. He shook his head, admitting he was curious as to how this would go. Everything was already so much different here than home it kind of made his head spin. |

"Then they'll mount a full scale attack. There's only about fourty of them. And over a hundred of us. If you hand everyone a gun, that's over a hundred bullets flying towards fourty wolves. There won't be even fourty wolves there to attack us for the simple fact that some are children, and mothers staying home with them. I'm thinking that they'll only lose a good dozen of them before they back off." Haven said with a shrug. Once they were in the huge basement that was the auditorium, Sare led the group towards the front, that way she didn't have to see everyone staring at them. Finding a seat, she plopped down, making sure Celeste took a seat next to her. "I hope this doesn't take too long." She said with a sigh as she rubbed her arms. |

Kai simply nodded before giving another shrug, "My only remaining concern, and as Diana has wonderfully pointed out multiple times I'm not from here, is there any possibility of them bringing in am allied pack as extra muscle? Even if that alliance is only temporary?" She asked him, not one to underestimate an enemy out on a personal vendetta. She'd seen what happened and she didnt want Kyler or the others going through anything similar. Bryce sat on the other side of Devin, giving a small shrug, "You and I both Sassi...." he told her with a gentle smile. Hopefully this wouldn't drag out into a clusterfuck of hours of litigation like back home. His eyes glanced around again, catching the few others in the auditorium with an obvious boredom. "How is this run exactly?" He asked, looking back to the group. Iggy returned downstairs from checking on his cousin, having given her a slightly higher dose of herbs to help her sleep. It was better than her driving herself sick with worry. He looked to Betta with a faint smile, "How you holding up?" He asked her, resting his arms on the back of the chair, wondering if he should let Bryce tell her or if he should so Bryce wouldn't have as much on his plate. It was a lot to ask of the young woman to leave but they needed a friendly face for Adelle in Lumicera. Edited by RiddleMeThis396, Jul 31 2012, 06:10 PM.

Haven shook his head as he leaned against the wall. "Even though the war is on personal terms, other packs will consider it a dispute about land. When it comes to land disputes, it's considered weak to bring in allies. Less packs will be wanting to deal with you, and you can easily become outcast." He explained to Kai, ignoring the glare Diana was giving them. When Bryce how this worked, Celeste answered him. "Normally, the inner circle firgures out what we're going to do, and plans everything out. Then Haven gathers us and tells us the plans and what we're supposed to do." She explained. "For the most part, it's a rather quick and painless process." She smiled at him. Betta was laying down on the couch, lazily flipping through the channels when Iggy joined her downstairs. She looked over as he spoke up, and nodded. "I'm doing pretty good. Bored. How are you?" She asked him with a pretty smile. She missed Bryce, but she knew he'd be back soon enough. |

Kai never acknowledged Diana, nodding as Haven explained, "And where will this be? I have people to move as well." She asked him, preferring the rest of them didnt know what happened to Nina. She didn't want their bullheaded input. "Like I told you earlier we cannot leave for the next few days and you and I both know they wont wait that long." She added, knowing others were going to have something to say about her "kind" staying with the pack but she knew Haven wasnt going to leave them off to the side in the woods in Devin's house to fend for themselves. Bryce nodded, "They seem to be finishing up now..." he informed her, grateful for the fact it was supposed to go by fast. He wanted to go back to his girl and prep for leaving with Adelle within the next few hours. Iggy nodded with a small shrug, "I'm alright...finally asleep." He told her as he sat down sideways in the armchair. He paused, looking over to Betta as Bryce gave him the instructions. They wanted her initial reaction not to be infront of Adelle. "Betta...before the end of the day, given they don't attack earlier, you and Bryce will be leaving here. Adelle needs a safe haven and Lumicera is that place...she also needs a friendly face. I know its a lot to ask but just know Adelle and Ian are coming back here after the meeting...." he informed her, his voice gentle but also telling her the message was more of an order than a message. |

"You guys can have a special suite next to ours. It will be big enough to house all of you until preparations are made for your departure." Haven told Kai, not seeming to care about the curious looks they were getting from the others. "Is there anything anybody wants to bring up?" He asked before speaking up again. "That's relevant to the war?" He asked sharply before Diana could speak up. That made her close her mouth as she just glared. When nobody spoke up, he nodded. "Alright. Dismissed. Get your asses down to the basement." He told them as they all dispersed and headed downstairs. Kyler waited until the room was empty before walking up to Kai and wrapping his arms around her. "We're halfway done." He said with a sigh. Betta just smiled at Iggy before getting comfy in the chair again, gaze turning to the TV. She was doing fine until Iggy spoke up again. Pausing, she kept the dark frown off of her face, more not liking his tone. "You may control armies, Ignacius, but you do not talk to me like I am a child. I am not under your command so don't take that tone with me." She told him in a cold tone. She hated when people tried to order her around. It really made her want to smack somebody. "I will go. But only for Adelle. If you talk to me like that, however, I will start acting like the child you treat me as and not go just to bug you." |

Kai watched as the others left, leaning against Kyler as he wrapped his arms around her. "One half left..." she sighed, but she did give him a small smile. "You're lucky I love you..." she teased him lightly. She wanted this over and done with so she could focus on moving Nina over. She followed him out of the room, ignoring the looks they earned as usual. Iggy resisted rolling his eyes, "As long as you agree that's what matters and considering I didn't exactly know how you were going to react? Forget it...by tge way, you're going to have to get used to people giving you orders." He told her bluntly, wondering for the first time if she was really cut out for this. Bryce could marry a tree for all he cared but she was going to have rough times ahead of her. Aside from the fact the order half came from Kai. Kai got away with insubordination more tgan most men because they knew her and hand gained respect. Betta wouldn't have that level until much later... |
