Kyler gave Kai a helpless look, not sure what he could do to help as Devin just sat there in his own little world. It wasn't until Kai had wiped his cheeks that he seemed to come out of it a little. He blinked as he looked over at her. "What am I supposed to say?" He asked, voice choked up with emotion. "What could I possibly say to convey how I feel right now?"

Sare sniffled as she looked at Iggy as he pulled back. She saw the tears in Iggy's and it only made her cry more to see him so choked up over this. She gave him a pathetic, watery laugh as he tried to get her to smile. "I didn't want to get rid of you in the first place." She told him as she wiped at her eyes. Leaning forward, she kissed Iggy sweetly. "I'm sorry." She whispered again as she pulled back.

Betta just crawled into Bryce's lap as she wrapped her arms around him tightly and buried her face into his chest. "It's stronzata, not fair." She mumbled into his chest. "She doesn't deserve this, nobody does. This isn't fair."

Kai let out a small breath as he spoke, her heart aching for him. "Say anything, Dev, just try...try now before Nina wakes up. Any questions please feel free to ask I know its a lot to take in..." She encouraged him softly with a ghost of a smile. She continued to rub his back as she spoke, knowing he needed to be somewhat coherent when Nina got up with her questions and guilt.

Iggy nodded a bit with chocked laugh, kissing her temple lightly. "I know....I'm just waiting for the okay to head over there. Devins a wreck...kai is trying to get him together before Nina wakes up...." he explained, clearing his throat a bit. He took a deep breath before looking down at her, "Trust me this is not how I wanted to spend your birthday week..." he told her, wondering if it would be wise to wait until there was peace again but...what if by then it was too late. He didnt linger on that. He couldn't let himself....

Bryce wrapped her in his arms, placing several kisses inti her hair. "I agree..." he told her softly, just holding her close for the moment. "Kai said if we wish we can head over later but its up to you...."

"What do you want me to say Kai? It's fucking bullshit. Nina is the most precious, gentlest, strongest, most amazing woman I know. She doesn't deserve this. That... that was our child. Could have been our child." He choked up again. "She's been through more than she should have ever have to and then this happens? She doesn't deserve that. She deserves a happy life with lots of children. She... I'm so angry right now. Not at her, but this whole situation." He placed his head in his hands, elbows resting on his thighs as he looked at the wooden floor of his cabin. "Why her? Why did this have to happen to her?!"

Sare gave him a very weak smile as she sniffled and wiped at her eyes again. "No, I'm pretty sure my birthday is ruined." She told him as she just leaned forward and rested against him, giving him as much comfort as she could at the moment. "I'm pretty sure life hates us all. Just saying." She told him in a crackly voice.

Betta nodded against his chest, not saying anything at first. "You can go. They don't need people crowding her at the moment, and I'm not exactly part of this close knit group you guys have." She mumbled against his chest, having not moved back at all.

Kai nodded as she listend to him rant, just letting him get it all out now. It was better if he got it all out now. All of his anger for the moment. Once he took a breath Kai spoke up again, her voice gentle. "Sweetheart technically its a cross-species pregnancy which makes it unstable. Her mother had misscarriages, hence why there's such a gap between her and her brothera.... She can still have that happy life with a lot of kids. You both can. This isn't the end of that dream, Dev...." she assured him, "There's a saying back home, Things are always darkest before the dawn. You have to be strong for her sweetie. That's all you can do right now. Its all any of us can do...No one blames you for being angry...."

Iggy nodded, kissing her lips comfortingly. All he could think of was the ring sitting upstairs in Kai's drawer. He didn't think he'd be able to live with himself if something happened and she didnt know....He pulled back and looked down at her, brushing his fingers along her cheeks. "Before we get there....there's something I have to tell you about Nina's past..." he told her gently, tugging her into his lap thinking about how to phrase it.

Bryce shook his head, "Kai asked for you too. As much as you may not think youre not a part of this group you are. The girls love you especially Nina...and you know Iggy adores you. Kai is planning on staying the night and then going to the meeting which I must attend as well. If you want to wait...." he told her, kissing her cheek. gently.

Devin looked over at Kai before looking away. "No offense, Kai, but your words aren't helping right now." He told her in a bitter voice as Kyler looked over at Kai before shaking his head then looking back to his cousin, hearing the thoughts in his head.

"Don't even think like that, Dev. You know damned well it's not true." He said in a stern voice as Devin suddenly jumped up.

"And what if it is?! What if, in the end, I can't give her what she wants, let alone deserves?!" He demanded in a pained voice. "I could just be holding her back, making her life more miserable." He said as Kyer punched his cousin in the arm as Devin growled at him.

"You're not, so fucking quit it. If you weren't good for her, do you think Iggy would have let her stayed with you? Don't you think he would have stepped in? Or Kai or Bryce? Everything isn't over, dumbass. Is this something completely horrible and terrible? Yes, it is. But it isn't the end. You guys still have that chance. Look at Kai and me w-"

"Oh yes. Look at Kai and you." Devin laughed bitterly. "Look at how perfectly it's gone for you. Not a problem there, huh? I don't see you going through this right now, cuz." He told him as Kyler sighed, wanting to strangle some sense into his cousin. He knew Devin was lashing out because of how upset he was, but he didn't have the patience for that.

Sare gave him the tiniest, ghost of a smile as he kissed her lips before leaning back into him. At his words, she frowned before looking up at him. She situated herself comfortable into his lap as he pulled her there before taking his had. "What is it?" She asked him softly.

Betta looked up at Bryce with a frowned before looking away. To be honest, she felt sort of weird be considered part of this little group. She had always seen Sare around a bit, but she saw a lot of Kyler and Devin while hanging out with Ian so much. Even then, she didn't really hang with them as much as she did Celene, Haven, Ian, and then later Adelle. So it was just a strange concept to her. "I don't know..." She said softly. "We'll see."

Kai wanted to growl at Devin but took a deep breath instead, trying to contain her frustration. "You listen to me; Sterling and you listen to me good. If you weren't good for her this would've ended a long time before this. We would've made sure of it. You make her happier than I have ever seen her. After what she went through with Lennon the fact she opens up to you and trusts you...you better never take that for granted. She is going to need you more than ever after this. And no, we're not going through the same thing but it’s not like everything has been perfect for us either. We're just willing to work through it." She rubbed at her chest above her scar before she realized what she was doing and returned her hand to her lap. She wanted to snap at him, tell him there was a very high chance this would be her only child but instead she just looked at him. "If you really want to throw it the towel? Don’t bother coming back. You can't help her through this you don’t deserve her." And with that she got up and headed back upstairs to check on her best friend. She didn't care if she'd hurt his feelings. He needed a reality check and she'd never been one for much patients. Nina was one of her best friends and it was obvious she'd do anything for her.

Kai carefully entered the bedroom, Nina stirring in her sleep as Kai sat on the edge of the bed. She'd changed her into a baggy pair of sweats and a simple t-shirt and pulled her hair into a simple braid. Nina still looked pale but the herbal supplements Kai had given her had subsided the pain and set her to sleep. Kai ran a cool hand down her friends cheek and Nina settled back to sleep. It was going to be a long night.

Iggy thought about how to tell her before finally just starting, “You remember that asshole that attacked Nina at the bonfire the first night we were in Lumnicera? That was her ex, Lennon. He’s a verbally abusive son of a bitch Nina dated briefly when they were much younger but he never got the hint it was over. One night about a two years ago he caught her in the woods as she was on her way to Kai’s. I was off at a battle at the time and Kai had just returned on leave…” he paused with a bitter shake of his head, “He messed her up good. Basically said if he couldn’t have her no one was allowed…Kai found her but she still has scars going along her abdomen from the attack and it’s why she’s so panicky around large crowds and new people.” His look turned a bit angry then, “Devin’s the only guy she’s opened up to and trusted with her heart since and now he’s considering running like some little pup because something bad happened.” He looked to Sare then, “I know he’s your pack and your friend but if he hurts her Sare….” He looked away, his voice having gotten choked up. What the pack would do to Dark was nothing compared to what he’d do to Devin if he abandoned Nina.

Bryce nodded, kissing the top of her head as he rubbed her arm gently, “Come on, how about I make you something for dinner, hmm?” He asked her gently, knowing it was a lot to take in for one day. Unlike Iggy and Kai he could reign in his temper about Devin and the situation at hand. He didn’t need to cause his girl anymore stress and he knew Kai could handle Devin…and keep Iggy from possibly throttling the wolf.

Kyler stood to the side as Kai grilled into Devin, hoping to knock some sense into his cousin's head. He knew the wolf wasn't actually going to leave, he wasn't that serious about it, he was just upset. He knew this was a big blow to him. Nina meant too much to Devin for him to leave. When Kai stormed out to check on Nina, he turned to his cousin, arms crossed over his chest as Devin fell to the couch, head back in his hands.

"I'm not leaving." Devin mumbled as Kyler nodded.

"I know."

"This sucks."

"Yep."

"I hate you."

"I know." Kyler shrugged as Devin looked up at him with a growl and Kyler sighed before sitting down next to his cousin.

"Dev, did I ever tell you about what happened on my birthday last year?" He asked as Devin shook his head, so Kyler filled him on. What had happened to Sare, Dark threatening to leave and the hissy fit he threw before Kai threatened him and Iggy convinced him to stay.

"I'm not the same as that bastard." His nose flared as Kyler rolled his eyes.

"I know that, dipshit, else Kai and Iggy would have kicked you to the curb a long time ago. You are, however, threatening to make the same mistake, whether you mean it or not. I know it hurts, cuz, but Nina needs you right now. She needs strong Dev. Not this weak little pussy you are right now. Now you've already pissed Kai off, and I'm sure if Iggy was here, he'd knock you into the wall if Sare would allow it. No, Kai and I haven't gone through something like this, but you know what? Any problems we did have? We worked through them. When life knocked us down, we picked ourselves up and kept on going. That's what you have to do. You have to pick yourself up and continue going. I know for a fact what your thinking. I know Nina's it for you and your plans once you guys head back to her home. Even if I couldn't see it in your head, I can see it in your eyes. But you have to prove that. Show to the others that you're good for her. She needs you now. So you need to get back up on your feet and quit moping." He told his cousin, and that talk seemed to at least knock a little more sense into his head.

Devin knew he wasn't leaving. He'd never leave her. Even if he wondered just a little still if she could be given a better life with her own kind. But he could sit by and watch that? Probably not. Just the thought of any of those dumbasses touching his woman made him want to bash their fictional heads into a wall.

Sare listened to him, her heart going out to Nina before. She knew something had happened to her, she had seen the signs. And being a victim of abuse herself, it was easy to spot. She wanted to give the girl a giant hug, but when Iggy spoke up about Devin, she frowned as she kept from smacking her. "He's not leaving." She told him stubbornly. "I know you don't like him very much, Iggy, but Devin is a good guy. God forbid he actually be upset about this." It just pissed her off. They had done the exact same shit with Dark. And while they may have, in the end, been right about Dark, they weren't about Devin. He wasn't leaving Nina anytime soon. "He's not going to leave her or hurt her. He's just getting his emotions out the only way he knows how. You all jumping on him isn't helping." Thinking she'd maybe throttle Kyler herself when she saw him. So it might be a touchy subject for her after what she went through...

"What are you making?" Betta mumbled, still not moving her face from his chest, arms still wrapped tightly around him. She didn't want to move to be honest. Today was ending so terribly...

Kai came back down the stairs a few minutes later, ignoring the boys as she grabbed her bag and went into the kitchen. Wordlessly she pulled things together for tea, including a second cup. Nina was up if barely and the tea Kai was making was to help the pain subside. If she didnt the girl would be in tear jerking pain for the next twenty four hours or so. She glanced to Devin then, eyes harsh but she motioned with her head for him to join her in the kitchen. "You need to learn this." She said flatly, now just in her tanktop, the lace top sitting on the back of a kitchen chair. She knew, unlike Dark, Devin wouldn't leave but she couldn't help feeling pissed off at him.

Iggy just looked at her, "And goddess forbid Kai is upset by it? You dont threaten to leave when things get hard. You make sure you're there for the other person. And its not like I hate the kid but Nina has been way to much crap for me not to want to protect her from heartbreak...." like I tried to save you from... He shook his head, wondering how he could explain it so she'd understand better.

Bryce thought it over for a moment, "Well, do you want food food, dessert, or simply something to drink?" He asked her gently, peppering the top of her head with kisses. He knew it was a rather shitty end to the day but he was hoping to gain at least a small smile before it was truly over.

((It's so hot outside and all I want is a cold showerrr! *is tired of yard work* ))

Kyler nodded his head for Devin to follow Kai before leaning back into the couch with a sigh as he ran his fingers through his hair. Today had quickly changed from great to shitty. He, to be honest, was getting really sick of all of this drama and problems they kept encountering. Wasn't it time for a nice, long, decade of a vacation at least?! A decade of none of this wasn't too much to ask for, right?

Devin got up and followed Kai into the kitchen. He just nodded, not saying anything as he memorized what she was doing.

"He wasn't threatening anything! It was just him blowing steam!" Sare, now fully agitated, pulled herself out of Iggy's lap. "You may not know him as well, but I do. He would never leave Nina. The man just had a big blow to the stomach, and he didn't know how to release his emotions. He's not going to break NIna's heart. I wish you would just see that and quit being such an ass to him all of the time." She snapped, tired of Devin always being framed as the bad guy when he wasn't.

"Food food." Betta mumbled again, not feeling too terribly hungry, but her stomach would thank her later. All she wanted to do right now was just go check on her friends, especially Ian and Adelle, and Nina.

((Ick i don't blame you at all....))

Kai didn't fully acknowledge Devin, simply making what looked and smelled like regular tea but when she added something to one of the cups the scent became strong but at the same time soothing. She left a small container of it on the counter beside the tea leaves before finally looking at him. "Add a small pinch of the herbs in the small vial once the tea is done. Its a pain reliever and mild anestetic. She's gonna be in a kinda daze for the next day or so but its much better than the alternative." She told him, holding the mug out to him then, "I'll be here as often as I can but when if I can't be you must make sure she drinks this every three hours, even in the middle of the night. Trust me, you'll know when its wearing off." She added, pressing the mug into his hands. "She's awake and asking for you. She has to drink the whole thing." She said, but her tone was slightly less rigid as she turned back to finishing her own cup of tea. If he couldn't handle this she didn't know what to do...

Iggy let her rage, knowing if his temper snapped it would be good for neither of them especially Sare. He just watched her from the couch, hearing her words but not fully listening. His mind was still back on his cousin and he knew Kai would put Devin back in line but he was also making sure, through Nina's foggy connection, he was treating her right. Finally he took a deep breath and stood, towering over his peteite girlfriend with a small shrug. She'd never know how desperate Dark looked to run away that night, how many times after that Iggy had forced him back or knocked sense back into him...no matter how much it killed him. It was one thing to hear it as an outside person but..." Tell that to Nina." He said simply, aggitation in his own voice, "Kai tried her hardest but some of Devin's steam got through to her. There's only so much we can block from one another expecially when Kai's trying to keep tabs on her. So yeah, Sare, I'm annoyed, I'm pissed of and I'm upset. That girl lying in that bed is like my little sister. Just like Celene and Haven threatened me I threatened Devin and Kyler for that matter. Yes, I pick on the kid, who the hell don't I pick on!?" He never raised his voice but he was slowly losing his temper. He either needed to break down or get air because he couldn't lose it.

Bryce nodded, planting one last kiss on her temple before scooping her up in his arms effotlessly. He set her down in one of the armchairs, kissing her lips sweetly before speaking again as he crouched to eye level. "We'll get some food in you then we'll see how you feel about seeing the others, okay?" He asked her, running his fingers through her hair gently.
