((Oh dear God. That sounds like my English teacher back in high school. Same thing happened when we ready The Scarlet Letter. And if I ever see the book Grapes of Wrath again, I will burn it.))

Kyler frowned, wondering what was going on and what the Prince was hiding. There was obviously a lot more going on then he knew. He knew that something had seriously bugged her earlier, but he never got the chance to ask. Maybe he would when everybody left. He didn't know.

Sare just hugged Lily back as she pressed a kiss into her hair soothingly. "Hey baby girl, it's okay." She soothed her, speaking in a calm, sweet voice. "This happens to all of us. Did I ever tell you what it was like for me when I was a kid?" She asked her, not wanting Lily to be so sad. She knew that the girl was underweight, but they would get there; it would just take time.

Betta smiled shyly at him as she tucked a curl behind her ear. At his question, she thought about it before answering honestly. "I want to learn control. I... I have no way to control what I feel or hear. Most of the time when I am happy or sad, it is because somebody else is feeling that, not me. I have no way of shutting any of it off." She explained with slightly red cheeks. "I always get the worst headaches from it too and it makes it hard to think and sometimes I have to excuse myself so I can go lay in a dark room by myself so I am no longer overwhelmed."

Nina held up her hands innocently, "I know as much as ye, lad...." She reminded him honestly, looking up as a Binne returned, giving a small curtsy in the doorway.

"The carriage is here...." She informed them softly before going over to clean up from lunch.

"That's our cue." Nina mused, standing then and brushed her gown absently. She was thankful her mother had slipped her some of the pain reliever. She knew her body was going to be incredibly sore from the corset after tonight. She looked to Kyler with a sweet smile, "I'm sure she's fine love.....everyone is slightly afraid of her, though when she's not feeling well..." She assured him, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek before leading the others out towards the living room.

Kai was upstairs dozing lightly, not quite asleep yet. She'd startled herself awake a few times, realizing she'd been humming in her drowsy haze. She humming again, the tune oddly familiar to "Castle on a Cloud" but slightly off. Soon enough she allowed herself to drift further into sleep.

Lily just shook her head as a reply. She was afraid if she spoke she'd start crying. Big kids weren't supposed to cry.

Peter nodded solemnly, Kai Lynn tells me there aren't others like you where you are? If so I can understand your frustrations. If you'd like I'm more than willing to help you learn, and give you some things to help you tonight until I see you again. How does that sound?he asked her with a kind smile

Kyler nodded at Nina's reassuring words. While he appreciated them and knew in a sense that she was right, it didn't mean that he could quit worrying about his fiancee. He smiled at the kiss on his cheek, waving distractedly to the rest in goodbye as they followed Nina out of the room and towards the living room. Once they were gone, he got up and head back upstairs to his room with Kai. He slipped in quietly as he looked over at her dozing on the bed. Pulling up a chair silently next to the bed, he sank into the seat as he closed his eyes with a quiet sigh. He wasn't tired at all, but he wanted to stay in here just in case she needed him. So he maded himself comfortable.

Sare nodded as she kissed her head again. "Having a bad childhood can be so hard. I'm the youngest of three girls. After I was born, my dad for some reason decided that he ne longer wanted to be a part of our family so he left. After my mother had lost her powers and eyesight, she was completely torn at his departure. Losing a mate is not the same as losing a wife or husband. For wolves, there's a deeper, soulful connection. When your mate leaves you or dies, it's like ripping you in half and trying to live without the other half. It's completely unbearable, and more oft than not, the mate will soon follow after the other in death. Well since dad never died, and just left intsead, mom didn't die. But she didn't take it well at all. She became a little unhinged in the head. She would often begin screaming about nothing, and she refused to take care of us because we reminded her too much of her mate. If that wasn't bad enough, Brannon, our Alpha before my brother-in-law decided that he had to have my mother. So he forced a mating on her and became our step-father. He kind of reminds me of your father in a way. He hated us so much. He would constantly find ways to hurt us rather physically or emotionally. It got to the point where Celene was beginning to spend too much time as a wolf and was slowly losing herself to her animal side. Celeste never had any food to eat since she gave it all to us and was often weak and in bed with headaches especially when she used her healing powers on us after Brannon got his hands onto one us. Our mother never really cared. She would begin to talk to herself and take all of this medication because it made her feel better. I would have to go to school without my hair un-washed, starving, and in hand me down clothes. Those clothes sucked. You'll noticed when we head back to Earth that I don't look a lot like my sisters. They're both really tall and super thin. I'm... not. Any new clothes we got, we literally had to dumpster dive for. Celene had to hunt for our food so we wouldn't starve. Brannon refused to give us anything but a roof over our heads. He was hoping that we would eventually starve and kill ourselves but he underestimated us. When Celene was old enough that her powers surpassed his, he misused his Alpha powers to take them away and was planning on selling her off to the slave traders. Me? He was going to give me to one of his loyal men, not caring that it would be a forced mating. It was the most miserable years of my life. They only thing that kept me sane I swear was when Celeste managed to send me away to boarding school with the help of Devin's parents. That's where I met Kai. If it wasn't for your aunt, I probably wouldn't be the same girl you see today." She smiled at her. "Through all of this terrible stuff, I learned a lot. And what I want you to remember is that no matter what your father did to you, it's okay. He's gone and you're still here, you won. There's nothing he can take away from you unless you let him. Right now Lilith, you are absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. There's a light in you that will never go out and shines brighter than ever before." She tapped the little girls chest lightly. "Don't let anybody tell you different okay? That dress? There are plenty of pretty dresses out there but there is only one you. A dress can be changed or replaced but you can't. It doesn't matter what you wear I promise." She ran her fingers through her curls soothingly.

Betta shrugged. "If there are any like me, then I have never met them." She admitted as she played with her fingers nervously in her lap. At his request, she smiled shyly as she nodded. "Per favore? I would love to learn anything you have to teach if it means it will help me." She near begged him.

Kai mumbled a little in her sleep, turning over as her hair slowly came undone from the bun Kora had put it in. She'd let herself slip too deeply into dreams, currently surrounded by darkness. If a mirror popped up she was done. Instead she heard her name being called out in the darkness, and it made her heart break. No....no she was done with this!! She'd moved past this dammit!! She mumbled something, not sounding scared but kind of upset and concerned.

Lily listened with a sniffle, looking up at her aunt with doe-like wide eyes. She went through this too?! But....she didn't seen broken like her. She just nodded as she continued, "The only reason I have some clothes are from Uncle Iggy....and I grew out of most of them by the time I could go back..." she mumbled, just clinging to her and trying to get her voice not to shake. She was constantly teased and harassed at school. Her hair was dirty, clothes didn't fit, different markings than everyone....She gave a ghost of a smile, though, when she heard Sare talk about Kai. "Auntie Kai is good for that..." she admitted, thinking back to when her aunt would help Iggy put them back together. She sniffled again, but her smile was slightly bigger as Sare tapped her chest and continued. She wanted so much to believe her, that much was obvious. She just couldn't shake it....the wounds were still too fresh.

Peter nodded, looking to Mina as she spoke, "I'll leave the two of you be for a while. Got to make sure Karmen is ready for tonight..." she smiled, giving Betta's shoulder a gentle squeeze before heading out. She knew how nerve wracking it could be when you were first learning.

Peter respectfully stood as she left before sitting once more as he addressed Betta. Now....the first thing you need to learn to accept is that your powers are not a curse, but a gift. A gift that comes with a lot of responsibilities. It doesn't make you a freak...it makes you special. The sooner you come to accept and embrace your abilities the easier the rest of the process will be....I know its not a simple thing to ask but the more you fight them, the harder they'll fight you....

Kyler had his eyes closed as he relaxed in the quiet while his mate rested. When she began to mumble under her breath, he peaked an eye open and looked over at her. He frowned slightly in concern as he watched her, wanting to make sure that she was alright.

Sare just continued to hold Lily as she ran her fingers through her hair and rub her back soothingly. "I know it's hard to believe right now. I had the same thoughts. I felt broken and useless, I still can't bear the sound of yelling to this day." She informed her. "But it gets better. You just have to believe it yourself." She may not be able to read her mind or know what she was thinking, but she could guess some of her thoughts since she had been in the same position.

Betta smiled over at Mina as she squeezed her shoulder before looking back to Peter nervously. Everything was so nerve wracking at the moment. She was wringing her hands almost to the point of pain as she listened quietly. At his words, she felt a faint disappointment. "So there's no way to ever get rid of it?" She asked him quietly. She knew it was stupid, but for just a moment, she had maybe hoped that she could get rid of these terrible powers.

Kai forced herself awake before the dream got to far, blinking blearily at Kyler, "What's wrong?" She yawned, seeing the frown on his lips. She'd felt someone watching her.....but unfortunately the voice she heard wasn't his. She blinked a few more times so her vision would clear, watching him carefully.

"I hope you're right....and I wish it would hurry up." Lily sniffled before leaning up and kissing Sare's cheek lightly. "Junte..." she added softly, blushing brightly. She was tired of feeling broken....but she knew that living with her aunt and uncle would help fix her. She just hoped they were right about not getting picked on in the new world....

Peter paused for a moment, tilting his head. That's the kind of attitude which leads to losing control. A moment ago you wanted to control them...now you say you want to rid, yourself of them. Your powers are purely a gift, Betta. Yes it can be a hassle but I promise it will be worth it.... he told her, knowing there was a way to rid her of them but Bryce would never stand for it. It was horribly tortuous....and the people never fully recovered. Were never themselves again.

Kyler blinked as Kai spoke, and relaxed a little as he banished the frown. "Nothing's wrong, love." He murmured as he ran his fingers through her hair. "I was just concerned. You were mumbling in your sleep and I just wanted to make sure you were alright." He assured her as he offered up a smile.

Sare smiled at Lily as she placed her hand on her cheek and kissed the other one in response. "You are very welcome, baby girl. Just give it a little time, okay? It will start getting better. It's only going to get better from here." She promised her.

Betta blushed brightly as she looked down at her lap where her hands were, still wringing them nervously. "I just... I thought maybe if it was a choice..." she trailed off, cheeks still red. "If I'm stu- blessed," you could tell she had a hard time accepting this face. "With these powers then I need control."

Kai frowned a little in return, "I was?" She asked absently, feared she'd said something she hadn't meant to. Maybe she needed to see Peter again...to help her suppress everything like he had the first time. It was worth a shot and better than feeling like this when Kyler went and did something stupid and put himself in harm's way. Honestly she'd felt this all bubble up when she'd left without him but today just sent her over the proverbial cliff.

Lily gave her a small smile, going to say something when Linnea came back in with three gowns in her hands and hung them up in the room for her. "There ye go love...three very special gowns for one of me favorite girls." She smiled as the young girl nodded and, after giving her a quick hug, went into the other room to try them on. Linnea shook her head with a soft, sad sigh, looking back to Sare then. "The trick is that even though she's too young to need them dresses with the lace up backs fit her better because they can be adjusted. I always have one or two dresses around for her..." she shrugged but gave her a small smile. "You're good for her, though, dear and I know she'll be just fine in your care...."

Peter resisted rubbing the bridge of his nose and instead nodded. If you force it it will only get worse. You need to relax first off, and not be bitter over keeping them. Acceptance really is the first step.... he told her gently, knowing she'd probably be his hardest case yet. But, he couldn't teach someone who didn't want to learn.

Kyler nodded as he ran his fingers through her hair. "I don't know what about though if that's what you're worried about. You were mumbles were too thick for even me to understand." He smiled briefly. "Are you okay, love?" He asked her in concern.

Sare smiled at Lily, standing up straight again once she moved to the other room to try on the dresses. She looked over at Linnea and smiled again. "Us girls got to stick together you know. I remember being her age and going through almost the same thing. It's hard, especially when you know it's not getting better any time soon. But it will get better for her. I'll make sure of it."

"I'm sorry." Betta was quick to apologize as her cheeks heated again. She really did want things to change and get better she really did. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes as she sat there and looked into her head. She thought about all of the years she had had this gift and what had happened because of it. She sat there contemplating for she didn't know how long. Finally, she opened her eyes as she nodded. "Okay." Was all she said. It would still be a struggle to accept, but she had to come to terms that she would forever be stuck with it and it wasn't going away any time soon.

Kai nearly sighed in relief, but instead just gave him a small smile. "Of course I'm okay...you worry too much...." She teased him lightly, "Maybe I'll start finding grey hairs sooner than I thought....." She added, her smile growing a little as she worked on distracting him and herself.

Linnea gave her a small grin, "I know dear...I also know the four of ye are going to be very happy together. Blended families are always the hardest but you'll get through it." She paused though, "How's Jeremiah holding up? Goddess knows I can't get a peep out of me boy.."

Peter watched her carefully, judging her answer for a moment before nodding. Now the first thing I want you to do is relax yourself little by little, simply focus on yourself. Then I want you to focus on one of the happiest memories you possess and hold onto it. He told her, watching her both physical and mental reactions. For the moment he simply wanted to teach her how to keep herself out of others thoughts. Her blocking other people would come later.
