((When you figure out the answer, let me know. I've been wondering that for YEARS now. Lost friends because of foolishness like that.)) Betta sniffled as she offered him a wan smile. She kissed him back just as gently as she leaned into him. She was surprised to see how much this conversation with him had helped her. She thought hiding it all from him would be best, figuring it out herself. But she felt better now that she had told him. Looking up at him, she gave him a still weak smile as she blinked her sore eyes several times to get rid of the burning sensation. A thought came to her just then and she groaned lightly. "I don't want to go back. Everyone will know that I've been crying and I don't even know how I'll be able to talk to the others." She told him as she looked down at her feet in embarassment. Devin chuckled as he kissed Nina's cheek before following them all to the table and sitting down next to his girl. Having already sampled lunch, he knew it was going to taste amazing. He had to get the recipe from Kora so he could make it some day. He looked back towards Nina as he heard her giggle and smiled. He knew this trip home back to her family would be good for her. And he was hoping to get a chance to talk to her father alone while they were here. He didn't know when his next chance would be, so he wanted to do it now. He was also aware that he had to ask Iggy as well, but that could wait a little while. When they spoke about the death of one of their cooks, he nodded his head. "I'm sorry for your loss." He told them, understanding what it was like to live in a world when you didn't know when your last day was. It was a scary thing, but you couldn't let it rule your life and live in fear. "How is his family holding up?" He asked curiously as he ate some of the delicious chili. |

Bryce rubbed her arms gently, "Tell you what...why don't we walk for a bit? We do kind of have to go to Gwayne's. My mother is kind of sneaking out to come by...cant really ignore her." He admitted with a small, sheepish smile. His mother was a little eccentric, considering she married into the royal life she still wanted to be free from time to time. See her old friends and be "normal". Sure, she'd been the daughter of a nobleman but becoming the next in line to the throne was still a.shock to her system. Of course, for his mother, sneaking out meant wearing a plain dress, traveling cloak, and only a handful of guards. While she was beloved by her people, there would always be someone wishing her harm. "What if we headed over to the park for a little bit? Clear your head and relax? No one is going to judge you, Betta...." Kora gave another small shrug but gave Devin a small smile. "I think they're doing alright as they can be. Poor Florence is beside herself though. Poor thing just had her final dress fitting the week before....she was his betrothed." she tacked on as an explanation for Devin. Nina nodded again, knowing the girl rather well from her popping into the shop. She wasn't a particular fan of Florence, but it didn't mean she didn't feel bad for the girl. She blinked as her brother spoke up, "The line isn't going to fade...right?" Jayden asked, actually sounding nervous. "No...the elders have kept a close eye on it. Its still thin...but nowhere near fading completely...." Cristoph assured his sons, looking to Devin then. "The line they're referring to is the seperation of Lumicera and Nox. Nox is where demons and other spawns of he---darkness thrive, along with the Malvagio. Of course, a few always manage to slip through now and again but for the most of our worries are jist those." |

Betta nodded numbly as she curled into him. "Park sounds good." She told him as she rested her head on his chest, curled up into his side. His body heat, plus her jacket, kept her from totally freezing out here in the snow. Yet she'd rather be out here in the snow with Bryce then back in the store. "Your mamma is coming?" She asked curiously. She really did like his mom. She was always so nice to her. Devin nodded, feeling bad for this woman he had never met. To have somebody you loved taken away like that was always a hard thing. It made him think back to Jerrod and he wondered how the father was holding up with the loss of his mate. He hoped that Celeste was keeping an eye on him. When they mentioned the line between here and Nox, he nodded as he remembered either Kai or Nina mentioning it once. He couldn't remember which one it was. "Is it like the line, well veil, back on Earth that separates our world from the spirit slash underworld?" He asked curiously. If so, he wondered if the line was stronger on some days and weaker on others. He would understand it better that way. |

Bryce smiled, kissing the tol of her head as they began walking. "Yep. Apparently the counsel members have been driving her up a wall...." he told her, sounding highly amused by the notion. "She needs a bit of a break and to be honest no one can resist the awkwardness between Linnea and Gwayne...." He added with a small grin. It was no secret the two liked each other very much, yet they'd never done anything about it. Nina nodded slightly at Devin's question, "Yeah, kind of....the Malvagio are more like us only their powers are mental. They're the ones that shot at us in the woods when you came for Solstice..." She reminded him, "They tend to be able to slip over it easier than the demons they were banished with. The line has faded completely only a handful, causing absolute mayhem and war. Last time it happened was when I was very young. When we lost Fiona. Its stronger during spring and summer since it gets darker later but as winter approaches the line between our world and theirs becomes very thin." She explained further, eating a few more bites of her lunch to keep her brothers' accusations away but it was probably the richest thing she'd eaten and she wasnt sure her stomach liked her much for it. |

Betta gave him a tiny smile as she walked with him. Thanks to her crying, and the cold, her face was numb right now. "It will be nice to see her again." She admitted quietly, greatful that there was nobody around. For once, there was peace in her mind, and nobody would ever understand just how much she needed it and enjoyed it. Not only was there peace from her gift, but her own worries as well. When Bryce mentioned Linnea and Gwayne, her smile flickered back onto her face. "Why haven't they done anything about it?" She asked curiously. Devin nodded, actually able to understand. He'd met an actual witch that had come through town once. And she had explained it to him. The ideas were very similar. He looked over and watched Nina eating her food. He was glad that she was eating, but he didn't want her to get sick. Most of what she had ate so far was very bland and plain for her stomach's sake. This was very rich and flavourful. Deciding that the topic of conversation needed to have a lighter and happier tone, he nudged Nina with a smile. "So, I know Nina hasn't told you yet. But while we were here, we decided to go looking for a house." He told them with a smile. |

Bryce chuckled with a small shrug, "No one has the faintest clue. They've always been like that though. Especially when Linnea first had Nathanial. He was always over and even now Nate spends time not being tutored and with his mother either at Iggy's with Jeremiah or at Gwayne's." He told her with a small shrug. "We all kind of suspect they had a fling when they were younger but no one knows why they're not still together." He said with a small smile, kissing the top of her head as she relaxed. Nina blushed lightly at Devin's words, especially as her father sat back in his chair. "Oh really now?" Cristoph asked with a quirked eyebrow but Kora smiled. "Well good for the two of you! I think you'll be so happy to have a place of your own..." she told them, mentally stopping the comment to come out of her husband's mouth. She was happy for her daughter and how happy Devin obviously made her. No it wasn't conventional but really who abided by them anymore. "Where were you thinking of looking?" Nina blushed a little deeper but smiled, "Probably more towards Kinten county." She said softly, looking to Devin then. "Its about a ten minute ride from town. The houses out there have a lot of land with them." She explained with a small shrug. Cristoph nodded, wanting to nudge his wife for cutting him off but she was too far away. Instead he turned to the young couple with a small nod, "What kind of house are you looking for?" He asked Devin, knowing the housing here differed greatly from where he was from. Iggy was lying in bed with a small smile, running his fingers through Sares hair as she continued to sleep. Goddess she was beautiful. Along with the letter for Erik, Nina had sent a small note for him letting him know the kids were at Kai's with them. It was such a relief knowing they were safe and away from his brother. Once Sare was up he'd bring the letter to Erik, knowing the little boy was waiting anxiously for his letter from Nina. |

Betta smiled and nodded as she walked along with him, slowly starting to feel better. "Doesn't that get a little frustrating though? Don't you wish that they would do something about it?" She asked curiously, all of the tension now gone from her body. The sniffling and tears had stopped, and she seemed to be doing much better. Devin smiled as he looked back to Nina, his smile brightening as he saw her smile. You could tell that her being happy made him happy. He nodded to her, his hand squeezing her knee briefly before he took her hand under the table in a sweet gesture. Whenever her parents were around, he kept his touches respectful and sweet. He loved her too much to be disrespectful around them. He wanted to show them that their daughter was in good hands and that he would take care of her. At her father's question, he turned back to Christoph and shrugged. "My main concerns are a decent yard and a nice kitchen that I can cook in. Plus rooms for guests and all. The rest I'm leaving up to her. Whatever she wants." He smiled back at Nina. Sare seemed to be sleeping much easier during her nap then she had last night. Her nose was no longer stuffed and thanks to her immune system, as quickly as the cold had come, it was quickly vanishing. By tomorrow morning, it would be gone completely. She sighed as she felt Iggy's fingers through her hair. Turning in his arms, she faced towards him, nuzzling her face against him as she slowly began to wake up. This morning's events had absolutely exhausted her, and this nap was well deserved. She had a couple of scrapes and bruises, but they had already healed. |

Bryce gave a small shrug, “I think we’re all just so used to it by now…I know my mother and Kora tried convincing Gwayne to do something about it a while back but I don’t think anything came of their efforts. I think they’re scared of putting a label on it…” He told her with a smile as they entered the park. Not many were around, the paths had been shoveled but the grass was still covered with snow as were the trees. Some older kids were practicing their ice-bending further off but they seemed oblivious to the couple’s presence. Nina smiled as he took her hand under the table, lacing their fingers together. She really appreciated his continued efforts to make her happy and feel better. She was also very grateful to have a beau who recognized the setting they were in. Her mother was much more lenient but her father was still old fashioned in some ways. She laughed a little as he said he’d leave the rest up to her. Ironically, there wasn’t much left to discuss aside from furnishings. Houses here were usually very plain within, not varying much unless you were to build your own. Kora laughed softly, “Well, Nina…what kind of house would you want?” She asked her daughter curiously, “One like Iggy’s or Kai’s…” Nina gave a small shrug, “I’m not quite sure. All I know is I want something big enough to have guests and company comfortably but nothing like Ano’s mansion.” She admitted with a small smile. Honestly, she liked the quaint feel of her childhood home, but she knew they’d need something bigger to accommodate everyone who was planning on visiting. The main thing was finding a job for Devin so they could keep up with the taxes here and pay ahead when they wouldn't be there for an extended stay. Iggy smiled as she turned in his arms, brushing the hair off her face delicately and kissing her cheek. He was glad she was sleeping so well. She really needed it after the last few days, especially that morning. He was just relieved it would all be over soon. Diana was dead, Seth was on his way, and the Alphas should’ve been meeting with the other pack soon. With such a small pack and such a large death toll he didn’t believe the other pack could last much longer anyway. Edited by RiddleMeThis396, Sep 17 2012, 04:34 PM.

Betta nodded as she leaned up an kissed his cheek. "It seems so silly." She admitted. "I couldn't imagine dancing around in the same circle for years." She admitted as she tilted her head up to look at him. she paused as she studied him there with the snow falling and the dim winter light. It was moments like this where he took her breath away. God, she really was lucky to have somebody like him. Not only was he handsome, but he was a good person, and he treated her so well. Devin smiled as he squeezed her hand. "There's still a lot to discuss, but as long a she finds one that she loves and she's happy, I'm happy." He told them with a shrug. He knew they had to search, then find one they like. He knew it also meant he had find a job around here that wouldn't mind him leaving for periodical amounts of time for Earth then come back. Sar sighed happily again as she felt his lips against her cheek. "That feels good." She mumbled as she nuzzled his chest with her cheek. She felt so much better than she had this morning. It was amazing what being able to breathe through your nose could make such a large difference. |

Bryce chuckled with a shrug, smiling as she kissed his cheek. "It works for them in some odd way I suppose..." he mused as they walked. "So...tell me about these uncles of yours I'm to meet when we go back..." he prompted her with a small grin, tucking her hair behind her ear. Nina blushed lightly but smiled at Devin. It was rather obvious how much he meant to her and how much getting a house with him made her happy. She knew if her could get the hang of cooking Gwayne would take him on no problem while she worked at the bakery with her father. It was a big step to take but she didn't feel nervous at all about it. "It'll take some time but I figure if we can find a place while we're here I can put the order in for furniture with Lenord." She said simply with a small shrug, pushing her bowl away from her a bit. She'd only eatten about half and her bread but her stomach was starting to reject the food she'd put into it. "Nina didn't clean her plate!" Jayce pointed out like little brothers do, causing Nina to roll her eyes. "That's not fair...." "You're sister is recovering from being sick. Now either finish your own lunches and behave or you're not going to Uncle Gwayne's tonight." Cristoph told them simply, having been filled in by his wife. He watched as the boys grumbled about it but continued eating. His heart broke for his daughter but obviously Devin had done the right thing and stuck by her. Iggy chuckled, kissing along her neck sweetly, "Morning..." he murmured, amusement laced in his voice. He heard how much better she sounded and it just caused a smile to come to his face. He loved that she was getting better, and that it meant he might be able to get some food into her. ((I get hit on in the weirdest places....-.-' and its like never the douches I can just be like 'Go away.....' it has to be the sweet dorky ones....)) |
