Betta just nodded, hiding her face against his chest as she walked with him. She was doing very well keeping together until he asked her what was wrong. That was when she fell apart in his arms and let out a sob as she cried loudly into his chest, not able to get a word in and possibly try and explain what was going on in her head.

Unlike Kai, Adelle did laugh as she smiled at the younger girl. "She's right though. That's why you have to watch how much sweet stuff you eat. I promise you that you can have more after lunch if you're still hungry." She told the little girl as she rubbed her arm.

Devin nodded with a smile. "My parents are the same way with my cousin Kyler since they raised him theirselves." He told her. He really saw the blonde wolf as more of a brother than cousin. He knew that Erik and Nina were going to become very close as they helped each other. And that was perfectly fine by him. He just wanted them both to be happy. It's why he had spoken to Celeste mentally before they left. He wanted to make sure Jerrod took care of himself so he could be here for his son. Losing a mate was always very hard since you tend to develop such a strong, permanent attachment to the person. And when they suddenly left, it often left the wolf in shock before the depression came. They always had to keep a close eye on mates when they lost their other half because they had a tendency to slip away otherwise. When Kora offered up a taste of her chili, he took the spoonful and ate it slowly, taking time to detect the different flavours. Swallowing, he grinned at the Brann woman. "You are incredible, Kora. You have to teach me how to make that." He told her, the spiciness of it not bothering him at all.

When Betta started sobbing, he brought them to a stop off to the side behind one of the trees lining the cobblestone street. He held her tight, kissing the top of her head. "Hey...hey I'm right here..." he murmured, "It's okay amore...."

Lily debated for a moment before sighing, "Fine....you pwomise?" She asked Kai, arms crossed on her chest. Kai finally cracked up laughing, nodding her head since she couldnt get words out at the moment. "Good...okay..." she looked over where Nate and Jeremiah were laughing.

Kora laughed with a light blush, "You're such a galoof with that big grin and if you are willing to learn I'll teach don't worry. Im glad to hear you cook, though. Nina...never quite got the hand of that..." she laughed softly, looking up as Nina came back in.

"I didnt what?" She asked with a small laugh, rubbing her arms. She was still a little pale but she did look better. "Oh you're making fun of my cooking arent you...." she made a face as Kora laughed.

Betta just continued to sob into Bryce's shirt, arms hold him tightly as the tears fell down her face in torrents, and soaking his shirt. Before she could stop herself, it all came rushing out of her mouth. Her jealousy over Kai, the words she was hearing from the people all around them, how much his father's disapproval hurt. Nina's words and how much those hurt, the said and unsaid. How she had wanted to fix it herself and how ashamed she felt. All of it, every little bit. She didn't spare him anything. By the time she finished telling him everything, she didn't have any tears left to cry, so there was only dry sobs that were turning into hiccups.

"Well then you better prepare. I'll probably be here more often than not stealing recipes from you." Devin teased with a grin as he laughed at her words. He looked over as Nina walked in and his smile brightened. He walked over and wrapped his arm around her as he kissed her cheek. "Don't worry, Sparky. With me in the house, we won't starve." He winked playfully over at Kora. "Cooking is one of the few things I do know how to do right." He grinned.

Bryce blinked as everything poured out, continuing to press kisses into her hair and hold her tight. When she finally stopped he, wiped the tears from her cheek, "Oh Bella why didn't you tell me...?" He murmured gently, kissing her cheek gently. "First off never feel ashamed of coming to me. I'm here for things like this...this is what I'm supposed to do. You can't keep everything bottled up inside..." he told her, rubbing her back soothingly. "Second of all I know you've been compared to Kai but understand you are two different people. You're still new here and soon people will see the amazing woman you are just like I do. Kai is her own set of craziness, but she wants nothing more than for us to be happy. Especially you. She knows what its like to be a stranger and come into a position of power. My fathers opinion won't change anytime soon, I'm sorry to say. Focus on the positive. My mother, both of my brothers and even Mina love you dearly. My father is the least of our concerns. His opinion changes nothing about how I feel about you. I love you more than you can ever imagine and all I want is your happiness. As for Nina I doubt she really meant harm by her words. She's a rather damaged girl who just went through something horrible. I can't even imagine what she'd be like if Devin wasn't here. You also have to remember her English phrasing isn't the best. She really does like you. None of them are against you, darling. They are all trying in their own ways to make you feel more welcomed and involved....." he finished, kissing her lips gently. He loved her so much and all he wanted was for her to be happy. She was his everything and he hated feeling like she wasnt comfortable in his home.

Kora laughed with a shake of her head, Nina letting out a soft giggle as Devin wrapped his arm around her. Before she could answer, though, she heard the echoed laughter of her demon spawn brothers. "Oh Goddess...." she mumbled and curled more into Devin as she kind of braced for impact.

"Boys calm down!" Her father's deep voice carried easily from the front of the house. "She isn't going to vanish...."

"But but Ni is home!!"

"Ow don't shove me! Besides you know I'M her favorite!"

"Am not!!"

"Are too!"

"Jayden! Jayce! You knock it off righ--" Before her father could finish and before her mother could grab them, two bolts of dark hair and tan skin came through the kitchen doors. The only differences were the length of their hair (Jaden kept his short where as Jayce emulated his cousin) and their markings (Jaden's went up the right side of his torso, Jayce was the opposite).

Betta's sobs finally seemed to subside somewhat as Bryce spoke up. Sniffling, she nodded as she rubbed at her red face, eyes puffy and raw from her tears. "I just didn't want you to feel stuck or like you had to choose. Or for you to think I was stupid and leave me." She croaked out as she rubbed at her eyes some more before burrowing into his chest again. "But she thinks I'm petty. If she's supposed to be the nice one, who knows what the others think about me." She told before getting upset all over again at the thought. For somebody who seemed so confident and secure in theirselves all of the time, she put a lot of stock into what people thought about her. She had a lot of insecurities.

Devin's sharp ears quickly picked up the sound of laughter and he couldn't help but chuckle. "Don't worry, Sparky, I'll save you." He teased her with a wink as he kissed the top of her head. As the boys ran in, he easily distinguished which was which. Being a twin himself (despite not being identical) he could usually tell others more easily apart then most people. Before they could descend upon Nina, he quickly stepped up, gathering one boy with one arm and one with the other. With his enhanced shifter strength, carrying both at the same time was like carrying a bag of feathers. "Whoah there champs! Where do you think you're going?" He asked with a grin as he looked between them.

Bryce rubbed her back and pressed kisses into her hair, "I'm never goin to.leave you and Im sure as hell not stuck with you. You forget I do, in fact, know what the others think. Kai honestly thinks you just flat out don't like her but she's determined to make it work. She really does like you, so do Iggy and Nina..Nina hasn't been in the best state of mind and calling her out for her secrets....she's actually really concerned over you and what she said. She doesn't normally lash out like that, Lennon kind of beat the snarkyness out of her. She also forgets you have access to her mind as well..." he reminded her gently. Nina was like his sister and he knew she hadn't meant what she said/thought. He also understood his girl's concerns. Honestly he was a little shocked to be honest by his girl's sudden breakdown but he understood where it came from.

Nina laughed softly as Devin scooped her squirming twin brothers up like they were nothing, smiling as her father walked in. Her father was close to 6'6", towering over herself and her mother, even Devin, easily. She walked over and gave him as tight a hug as she could, giggling as he teased her in their own home language. She smiled as he kissed the top of her head looking back to the boys as they cracked up laughing.

"Devin!" They exclaimed in unison, grinning over at him. At just under 11 they were just under 5'2", lanky build like their mother. Neither one seemed to take after their father's broad build but that would probably change once they hit puberty.

"What are you doing here?!" Jayce demanded as him and his brother finally wriggled out of his grip.

"Yeah...mom.said you guys weren't coming home til Kai had her baby!" Jayden nodded glancing over to Nina and their father, Cristoph. Obviously they were still itching to greet their big sister with their usual tackle.

Betta just nodded, not able to do much of anything else. "I just want them to like me and for you to be happy." She mumbled, seeming to relax a little more as he comforted her. She hadn't meant to tell him any of this to be honest, but after her... discussion with Nina and just seeing him there, asking her what was wrong, she just lost it. Everything she had been holding in broke like a dam and came rushing out.

Devin just laughed and grinned as he finally let them down as they squirmed out of his grasp. He managed to stand protectively near Nina, making sure they didn't accidentally hurt her. "We decided to come back early. Some things weren't going too well back at my place so we decided here would be better." He explained the truth vaguely. "You two staying out of trouble?" He asked with a grin. He loved the two little trouble makers. They were a handful, but they were good kids. Turning, he faced Christoph with a respectful smile. "It's nice to see you again too, sir." He said as he held out his hand. Nina's father was as tall as his Alpha, which meant he towered over his height oof 5'10".

"They do like you, amore....its hard, though, for them to show it when you put constant walls up...." He told her gently, brushing her hair back and wiping the tears from her cheek. "As for me? I'm the lucky bastard who gets to call you mine and foro that I will always be happy. Betta understand the way I feel for you I've never felt for anyone else. As long as you'll have me I'm yours and I would never and could never imagine it any other way..." he told her honestly, love radiating through his ice blue eyes.

Nina smiled as her father shook Devin's hand firmly, "You too Devin..." he told him simply, pulling his hand back. He was a big guy but unlike Haven he was a bit of a softly. Especially when it came to his baby girl. He approved thus far of her choice in a beau. He hadn't been given a reason not to be anyway.

Jayce grinned up at Devin, "Trouble??"

"Us??" Jayden chimed in with another grin, but the look they got from Kora made the grins fade a bit. "Okay....well not a LOT of trouble...we only got detention once!"

"But it was totally worth it." Jayce grinned as his mirror image nodded with the grin back on his face.

"Mrs. Bannerd didnt appreciate it.." Kora pointed out as she started scooping the dish into bowls, taking the fresh loaf of bread from her husband as well with a smile.

"What did you two spawns do to that poor old woman?!" Nina demanded, both boys looking suddenly looking sheepish.

"It wasnt to her...."

"Yeah all we did was dye Jingles blue!"

"It came out!"

"Eventually....."

Betta just sniffled as she nodded. "You swear?" She asked him. It was obvious how much she wanted the approval of the people in Bryce's life. She rubbed at her eyes again as she looked into his icy eyes with her red rimmed brown ones. "I don't want you to leave." She sniffled again. "I love you." She told him as she rubbed at her eyes again before wrapping her arms around him. It was obvious how much he helped her. She relaxed a little more, finally seeming to calm down.

Devin just nodded his head respectfully with a smile before turning back to the boys with a chuckle. "Dyed blue! You two know better!" He chastised them. He angled his body so only the twins could see them and he winked. 'Good job.' He mouthed to them before shaking his head. They were a handful, that was for sure. "So! I heard you guys went and got some bread for lunch? I can't be the only one that's hungry. Besides, it gives me a chance to shove food into Nina here." He teased his girl with a smile. He wanted to make sure that she got plenty to eat since her metabolism was like his.

((Why do girls trust and forgive assholes....?!))

"I swear....and I'm never going to leave you. I love you so much..." He told her, hugging her tight as he finally felt her relax. He stole a gentle kiss from her lips, giving her a small smile. "Come on...what can I do to get my pretty girl to smile again?"

The twins were surprised then held in their laughter as Devin winked. Nina rolled her eyes with a laugh as she watched Devin with the boys. He was going to be a handful himself, she could see it already. She blushed lightly at his teasing, making a face at him. She had lost a few pounds from not eating in the short span but if she ate too much too soon she'd regret it later. She sat down at the table between Devin and her father who was sitting at the end of the table as Kora shooed the boys over to the table to eat.

"Ni! Did you bring anything for us this time?" Jayden askes as Jayce nodded. On their last visit she'd brought the boys back a soccer ball. It was simple and mundane to most but they thought it was awesome and tended to be more durable (and less painful) than the ones made here.

Nina laughed softly and shook her head, "Like you said, I wasn't supposed to be home yet. I promise...next time I come home." She shook her head with a smile as they pouted but finally started to eat their lunch. She looked to her father, then, with a small grin. "How's the bakery going?"

"Missing it's top baker but we're managing..." Cristoph teased his daughter lightly, nudging her as she shook her head with a soft giggle. "In all seriousness we're good though. Lost Harvey two weeks ago though..." his voice turned a bit solemn, "Kindre demon...never saw it coming poor bastard..."

"Cristoph! Language!" Kora chided, rolling her eyes as her husband sent her a sheepish grin. "Don't you whoops me...for goddess sake you work in a bakery, not the forge." She shook her head but looked to the other two with a small nod and a shrug, "Service was beautiful. Harvey was one of our cooks. Been with us for about 4 years." Nina nodded her head, feeling bad for the mans family and fiance. He really was a good person, but it was a solemn fact of life here. Until spring came the line separating them from Nox was very thin.
