Betta sighed, seeming to relax a little more as Bryce wrapped his arms around her again. What she felt for him was the only thing that made sense to her right now. That didn't hurt her or confuse her. Picking up a coat, she showed it to Bryce. "What do you think?" She asked him, liking the dark blue colour of it.

Devin just smiled at her, pausing as the carriage stopped. "Looks like it." He said with a grin as he leaned down and kissed her cheek. He hopped out of the carriage after Nina, looking at the house that his girl had grown up in. It was very cute. He saw Kora, Nina's mother bustle out as soon as they got out and couldn't help but smile. Especially as he looked down and saw the smile on Nina's face gain a more realistic quality. He moved to the side to let Kora to greet her daughter. He smiled as he watched him, glad to see them together. Hopefully her mother could help her out.

He smiled as Kora turned towards him and he hugged her back. "Just in time for food? Perfect! You are an amazing cook, Kora." He told her as he kissed her cheek as well. Pulling back, he wrapped his arm around Nina's waist, chuckling as she told them where the boys were. "So that explains why we haven't been attacked yet." He teased lightly, speaking of the twins. He liked Nina's little brothers. They were so full of energy and a lot of fun.

Bryce smiled as she showed him the coat, "I think I need to see it on you first..." he told her, even though he didnt move and even kissed her neck. "But it is a very pretty color..."

Kora waved his compliments away, but laughed at his comment about the twins. "Don't worry....they will be here to terrorize you soon enough." She muses before leading them into the house. Their home wasn't anything big, but it was comfortable for five people, especially now that Nina wasn't home all of the time. She'd pretty much moved in with her cousin over the past year so only some of her stuff was still with her parents.

Nina smiled as she smelled the food cooking, a full fire roaring in the living room. "Smells great..." she mused, resting against the counter. She saw her mother's expression in the reflection of a pot above the stove as Kora worked on stirring the chilli and rather braced herself a bit as her mother turned back around.

"Now...as much I'd love to think you just stopped in to see us I know there's more to it tham that. Nina Renne Feilds....what is going on?" Kora asked, her voice stern but gentle, knowing how her daughter got. Nina had lost weight since she'd last seen her like she hadn't eaten well in the last week or so. Nina knew the risks of not eating, so she knew it wasn't a conscience decision.

Nina hesitated, biting her lip a little as she tried to get the words out. Finally she just opted to tell her mother mentally; watching as the expression changed on her mother's face.

"Nina...." Nina felt the tears start as her mother enveloped her into another hug, burrying her face into her hair. Kora looked to Devin then, "Can you grab me some water from the icebox dear?" She asked him softly as she helped her daughter into a chair. She never wanted her daughter to experience the pain of a miscarriage. Especially after everything that happened to her already.

Betta smiled more as she felt his lips on her neck. More of her tension melted away from her as she relaxed with him. God she loved him so much. He felt like the only good thing in her life right now. "Doesn't that mean you have to let me go so I can try it on?" She asked him as she tilted her head to look back at him.

Devin followed the women into the house, his stomach rumbling at the smell of the food. Sheperd, that smelled amazing. He looked over as Kora asked Nina what was wrong. He looked to his girl with concern, having a feeling that she wasn't sayinganything out loud. When her mother hugged NIna as tears pricked her eyes, his heart broke. He nodded as he moved to go grab water from the ice box. He hoped that this visit with her mother would really help her. He came back from the ice box with the water, making it clear that he was here to help.

Bryce let a small sigh, "I guess I do...." he kissed her cheek one more time before stepping back, drapping his coat over his arm as he watched her. Goddess she was beautiful. He knew she still felt a little out of place in these clothes but she looked amazing in anything she put on.

Kora comforted her daughterd softly, nodding her head in thanks as Devin brought the water over. Nina shook her head but her mother pressed the glass into her hands gently. "Nina everything is going to be okay....we'll have Cristol check you out in the morning." She soothed, pressing a kiss into her hair.

Nina just nodded numbly as she took a small sip of her drink, "But...but when will I feel okay...." she mumbled, for the moment forgetting Devin was in the room. "When will the brokeness and guilt and emptiness go away...." It was obvious with those words just how much of a brave face she'd been putting on for Devin and what Betta had been referring to.

"I'm sorry to say it never really does, sassi....I felt the same way after both of mine. It gets easier with time...and once you hold your first child in your arms you'll see why it was worth the pain." Kora murmured, glancing to Devin briefly. By Nina's panicked thoughts Devin wasn't aware of the lingering emotions. She blinked and looked back to Nina, a small furrow to her brow. "I don't want to hear such things from you. You're not broken, Nina."

"But what if I can't have that moment?" She asked, searching her mothers eyes. "What if this happens again...? Mendra...."

"Nina Rose you are not defective and you are not to think like that. You won't know anything until you see Cristol tomorrow. I know it seems impossible but you have to stay positive and level-headed..." she told her daughter gently, "You're not alone in this. Above anyone else Devin is obviously still here and obviously loves you dearly...." Nina just nodded again but her mother's words, mental and outloud, were helping. At least she didn't feel sick to her stomach any longer.

Betta smiled as he kissed her cheek before she let him move back before placing the coat on. It was a good choice that fit her well, the colour complimenting her skin and hair. "What do you think?" She asked him with a tiny smile. More than anything, she just wanted to go home, and curl up in his arms as he held her. He was the only thing that seemed to make her feel better right now.

Devin stayed nearby in case he was needed again, arms crossed over his chest as he watched his girl with concern in his eyes. As he heard her words, his heart broke a little for her. Why didn't she tell him? He wished she had, because he would have done everything possible to make her feel better again. He looked over at her mother as Kora glanced to him before looking back to Nina. He waited until she was done speaking before he did.

"She's right, Sparky. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I love you, and I'm staying right here by your side. You can't get rid of me that easily." He gave her a tiny smile, his love her for shining through his gold eyes.

Bryce watched as she tryed on the coat, a smile coming to his lips at the way it complimented her. Without a word, he took her hand and spun her around. He pulled her closer with a small grin. "It looks perfect..." he told her honestly, stealing a quick kiss simply because he could.

((Why do I keep writing rose?! Its renne....-.-' -facepalm-))

Nina gave him a small nod at his words, looking up with a small smile but at least it was real. If it wasnt Devin, if he wasn't the one helping her through this she honestly didn't know what she'd do. She wasn't built like Kai or Mina....she wouldn't have been able to pick up the pieces. She only hoped Cristol had good news for her tomorrow....

Kora smiled at Devin's words, knowing that look anywhere. She had a strong feeling he'd need to talk to her husband on his own sooner rather than later. Hell, that was fine by her! She knee Iggy would be the hardass about it by the way he talked about the other young man. But even Iggy didn't know why Devin bothered him. "See? Devin, would you be a dear and put the ketle on the stove. Its already filled..." she asked him sweetly, rubbing her daughter's back gently as Nina got herself together again. She didn't want or need her father and brothers seeing her like this...Kora blinked again, "Nina what war?!" She half demanded, more our of shock than anything else. Nina winced a little, turning back to her glass of water. Kora turned to Devin. "I asked her if she's been having good rest but she told me ots hard with the war going on. Care to explain?"

Betta smiled up at him, laughing in surprise as he twirled her around. Her cheeks flushed at his words and kiss before she buried her face into his chest and hugged him as tightly as she possibly could, willing herself not to cry. "I love you so much." She told him.

Devin just smiled at Nina before nodding at Kora's words. "No problem." He said as he leaned in to kiss Nina's cheek sweetly before heading over to the kettle and placing it onto the stove. When Kora found out about the war, he winced a little as well before turning towards her. Taking a deep breath, he quickly explained what had happened, starting with Ian and the other pack then about Seth and Diana's involvement. He ended with what they had knew last before they had left. "So hopefully, it will be ending in a couple of days." He told her.

((Family apple picking....always an adventure lmao))

Bryce wrapped his arms around her with a deep chuckle, kissing the top of her head sweetly. "I love you more..." he murmured so only she could hear him. He heard the change in her voice and tilted her head up a little. "You're sure you're okay?" He asked her gently, his thumb grazing her cheek.

Kai walked over to Adelle and Lily, plopping on the bench with them. Lily was giggling over something the falcon said. "Hey...you keep eating those sweets you're not going to have room for Gwayne's yummy food." She teases the young girl, tickling her sides.

Lily giggled, scooting closer to Adelle to keep from her aunt, "But they're yummy! And I'm never too full for yummy food!" She told Kai with a nod.

Kora listened carefully, giving a nod here and there. So much for Earth being safer. "Well I hope the same...war is never anything but pain." She told him simply looking back to her daughter then. "Go clean up in the bathroom sweetie....they'll be home soon and lunch will be ready..." she gave Nina a gentle smile, kissing the top of her head.

Nina gave her a small smile and a nod, taking a deep breath before heading down the hall. She was still tired but she felt a little better at least. Her mother had mentally told her remedies to help with the pain and such, especially with the corsets. Kora stood, redoing her bun as she walked over by Devin. "Thank you for taking care of her sweetheart....I know its not easy." She gave him a gentle smile before checking on the pot again. "I must ask, though, who is Erik? He was rather prominent on her mind...." she asked, looking back over to him curiously.

((Lmao, that sounds fun! Haha never been apple picking. Of course, they hardly if they do at all, have apple orchards down here.))

At his sweet words, she just moved her head back to his chest, but not before he saw the glint of tears in her eyes. Instead of shrugging him off like she always did, she just shook her head no. No she wasn't okay, and all she wanted to do was cry but she couldn't in front of everybody else.

Adelle looked up as Kai joined them and she offered her a smile. She laughed quietly at Lily as she wrapped a protective arm around her as she leaned into her. "She's right though. These yummy sweets are going to make your tummy feel iiiiiiicky." She teased her quietly with a soft smile.

Devin watched as Nina left to go clean up before turning back to Kora as she spoke up. "You know it's not a problem. I'd do anything for her." He said with a small smile. Nina was his mate. He wanted her to be as happy and healthy as possible. When she asked about Erik, he blinked before answering. "He's a little wolf boy from my pack. I was really close with his parents and have sort of taken him under my wing. I've been there since his birth. His mother had a lot of complications with his pregnancy, and he was born blind. During the war, his mother died, and he's really taken to Nina. He liked her before, but now that his mother is on the Great Hunt, he's sort of placed Nina into a mother role." He explained. "It goes both ways though in a way. Thanks to him, Nina has healed a lot more than without him."

Bryce kissed the side of her head with a nod, resting the money for Linnea down on the counter. "Come on...lets go for a walk..." he said softly, letting Kai know mentally. Linnea was off with a few other customers in the shop so he just gave her a wave before leading his girl out of the shop. He slipped his own coat on, shaking his head at ths carriage. "Come on, amore, what's wrong....?" He asked her gently, kissing the top of her head as his arm wrapped around her waist.

Lilly made a face up at Adelle, "But they're soooo yummy!!!! How can they make you feel icky?!" She demanded with a sigh, looking forlorn at the platter of cookies.

Kai laughed softly, "I love sweets too but you've got to be carefull or soon theyre going to make yourself sick and never ever wanna eat sweets again!" She told her, trying not to laugh as Lily's eyes went big.

Kora nodded a bit as she listened to Devin explain the situation. She nodded, "I was the same was with Kai when she was little." She told him honestly with a small shrug, "Especially after Fiona passed. I still see her as my other daughter and of course Ignacius is more a son than a nephew along with Sheng." She added with a small smile, "There's just something about helping another child that helps heal the broken heart. Nina has always had a big heart so the fact she's taken on the young boy doesn't surprise me. I agree with you...it'll be good for her." She nodded before scooping out a small bit of the chilli and offered it up. "Now be honest...I'll warn you its kind of on the spicy side." The dish contained all kinds of vegetables, herbs and spices in a thick tomatoe sauce with ground meat which tasted almost identical to a beef.
