Adelle looked down at Lily as the little girl stood beside her. She wrapped her arm around her soothingly as she nodded. "She's going to be just fine, sweetie. The dress was just a lot to take in and it made her realize a couple of things. And she's pregnant on top of that so it makes her extra emotional." She explained. Devin smiled as he watched the falcon, seeing that mothering instinct she always had. Adelle had always been good with kids.

Betta blinked as Nina dragged her outside, sitting down warily next to the Brann girl. She shook her head stubbornly, not wanting to admit anything. She could handle this on her own. She didn't want other people to get involved. "There's nothing going on." She tried to assure her. If worst came around, Nina would tell Bryce and then she'd really be unhappy. She didn't want him finding out at all. She didn't want him to get involved and think he would have to choose or something. As much as it hurt, Kai was his best friend. She didn't want to take that away from him. Even on the off chance that she did want to say something, get it all out, she wouldn't know what to say.

"Pardon my french but thats a load of bullshit..." Nina said, tilting her head a little. "I know you wanted to keep Bryce out of it but he knows something isn't right. It hurts him so much you won't open up to him...." She pointed out to the girl gently, "You have to realize how much he loves you and how much he wants you to be happy but he's scared you're rethinking everything. No one has told him anything, not even Kai, because we believe it should come from you. Not us. We're not blind, though, dear. Anyone can see it get tense when you and Kai are in a room too long together with Bryce. You two were fine the other day when we went shopping...but as soon as Bryce came back into the equation and you saw them joke around it all changed." She pointed out, taking a deep breath.

"I know you hear what people think of you, how they judge you....the pedestal they place Kai on. Unfortunately it simply comes with the territory of being royalty here. They look for perfection and someone to emulate. For a lot of girls and women here that's Kai. She broke down a lot of barriers because she was determined to prove she was more than a pretty face dressed for balls. She'll never tell you how she fought on your behalf against the king during Solestice. Its kind of why he looked so cross at breakfast every morning. She'd track him down and make sure he didnt start with you. Didn't threaten you...didn't kick you out of the castle..." She paused, knowing that bit alone would be a lot to process. "She'll be the first one to tell you she is far from perfect...before you judge her and her relationship with Bryce...maybe you should check your facts first." Her voice never changed from gentle and sincere, almost sounding like she was laughing at certain points; as if the words brought back fond memories.

Betta kept quiet and let Nina talk, knowing that it would be pointless to talk over. She knew the girl made points, but when she told her about Kai defending her from the king, and then told her not judge her relationship with Bryce she frowned, feeling angry. "Great, now she's even more perfect. Of course she defended me." She laughed bitterly before shaking her head angrily. "And when have I ever judged their relationship? When have I ever kept them from being friends or judged them for being close. You know what, I'm sorry I'm not Kai. Or what everyone thought Bryce would bring home. I'm sorry for being such a fuck up and ruining everyones lives." She told Nina angrily as tears pricked at her eyes. She loved Bryce so much and it seemed sometimes that the only person who was okay with this was the one person everyone wanted her to be or Bryce to be with. She was just a simple waitress for Earth. Normal for the most part. She didn't ask for any of this. She wasn't some nobility like Kai or amazing warrior anything super special like her. Kai was this shining star, and idol and hero here. And who was she? A nobody from a different world the Prince brought home from his vacation. What if she was just a novelty to him? What if what he felt wore off and he'd see what everyone else was and send her home? Her heart would break into a million pieces. Bryce was the only man she had ever allowed herself to love and it seemed nobody was happy for them.

((... I won't lie, I really wasn't expecting her to react like this.))

Nina let her rant, letting the girl get the feelings out she needed to. "Anyone can see the jealousy. None of us blame you but there are things in Kai's past...." she shook her head a little, trying not to show her own discomfort. Not because of the subject, but because the tea from that morning was waning. "Anyone can also see how much you love him. Anyone can see how much he loves and adores you and we're all very happy for you two. Please never think differently. Kai is just as scared as you. Understand Bryce has never been this way about a girl before and it has long been Kai's fear that no matter who he chose they'd make him choose and she'd lose her best friend. Its not just you."

Nina took a breath, trying to figure out what to say to get her to understand. "Kai puts on that armor and lets no one in because she's been through so much, especially within the last year. She's snarky and sarcastic because its just what she knows." She paused, gauging the other young woman carefully. "I tell you this not so you pitty her, but so you know where she comes from. Kai's mother was raped by a demon...and consequently got pregnant with Kai. Other than enhanced bending and her bright red hair there seemed to be nothing wrong with her so they didn't persue it. When Kai turned 16 she started hearing a voice in her head and the red mark she'd had on her ankle turned into a marking. Kai had a demonic side which plagued her sleep, her bending, and her life as a whole." Nina paused again running a hand over her hair.

"She had outbursts at school...carving out marble with her bare hands. Kyler was the only one who could get through to her. When they came back here the first time...it wasnt long until she had one of her worst episodes. The demon half took over. Even though it was less than a day it left an irreversible mark on her relationship with Kyler and on her...that scar she has? Kyler had to plunge a knife through her heart to save her and unfortunately that didnt end the curse...She isn't perfect. Nowhere near. She lives in constant fear her daughter will inheret this curse. That Kyler will want nothing to do with her anymore. Her daughter may be her only shot at having any child....just realize shes not in the best fram right now. Hell, she barely knows how to handle her hormone swings much less anything else going on. Her and Bryce joke about the past because that's all that is really solid to her...."

Betta sat and listened, despite the fact she was fighting off the strong feeling to just go home right now and curl up. It's not like she didn't understand somewhat. Kai had gone through a hard life, that was obvious. She didn't pity the girl because she took what was handed to her in life and rose above everything. She made the best of what she had. She respected her for that. She knew that if she wasn't the girl that everybody compared her to her, if Kai who she wasn't supposed to be, they'd get along. She didn't mind that Bryce had a best friend that was a girl. Her best friend was a guy so she understood.

Instead of saying anything else, she just put her walls back up and offered Nina a tiny smile. "Well you can assure Kai that I would never make Bryce choose. Her friendship with him is safe. Thank you for the talk, but I think I'm starting to get really cold. May we head back inside?" She asked.

Nina watched her with a sigh, even rolling her eyes a little. To be perfectly frank she felt like she was talking to a wall at points. "Yes....but you need to talk to him and one day her. You and Kai will have to move past this and you need to feel comfortable enough to open up to Bryce....Hell...I wasn't Sares biggest fan for the first few months. There are simply things you have to confront. Letting them linger and grow and eat away with you it will never get better and all you'll feel is lousy. You'll be practically living with Kai in the coming year...she won't care what you think of her but she really does like you and what you do for Bryce...." she said simply before standing up and waiting for Betray to follow. With the whole thing with Sare she understood better where Betta was coming from. Being compared to the pretty wolf girl and people wondering why Devin was with her at all. Feeling like she was just some rebound. She just really hoped they would be able to work through this...

Betta just nodded at Nina's words, smile plastered on her face. She hated this feeling, Nina was right about that. She was sick of being compared to the other girl. She knew it wasn't Kai's fault, and she didn't blame the other girl, she just wished things were different. She wished that she couldn't hear people's thoughts at all. So for now, she would just continue to work on it herself. It was her problem and she'd deal with it.

((Eugh, why are you so stubborn and difficult?! >.< ))

Nina started leading Betta in, but very much unlike herself she didnt go in right away and end the conversation. Instead she turned back to Betta, "Betta....please understand I really do like you...but if you don't tell Bryce what's going on I will..." she told her simply, but her voice was gentle and concerned. "Us telling you things wont help you...you need to hear it from him. Trust me...it makes all of the difference. "

Betta stiffened with a frown as Nina spoke up. "So you would involve him and make him feel bad?" She asked in a cool voice. Why were they doing this?! Nobody should be involved. It was her issue to deal with. Then to threaten to tell Bryce if she didn't?! Why was Nina telling her this?! Did they not think she could take care of it herself? Apparently they didn't trust her to do that either. Apparently she was too incompetetant to anything on her own.

Nina sighed, "He already feels bad...." she told the other girl bluntly, "Please, Betta, all I am saying is he doesn't deserve to be left in the dark. What, you think I'm weak because I went to Devin about Serephina? You may think you can handle this on your own and maybe you can but its going to be much easier to tell him....He knows something isn't right. He's asked Kai whats wrong but she's not going to rat you out. All of agree that itsm would ve better coming from you. He feels like you're holding something huge from him. He isn't wrong...." she told the other girl, her back stiffened a little as well.
