Ysabel nodded as she got into the car, looking over at him curiously. She tilted her head slightly with a raised eyebrow. It... worked. She noticed the difference. But not very well. He was a grumpy sort through and through. All of a sudden, all the suffocating feelings Adam was feeling just... vanished. Just like that. It was like he hadn't even had felt them before. "I see. I was curious is all." she told him with a shrug as she started up the car and back it out with ease. She was silent for a little bit before looking over at him. "Where am I going?" she asked him finally. She didn't know her way around LA. At least not yet.

Aeryn glared as Damien was suddenly RIGHT there. She was mad at the both of them. Letting out a growl, she got in between them and pushed each back with freezing fingers. "Would you both STOP?!" she demanded. "I did NOT just save her life for you to kill her! And YOU! Be a bit more understanding as in you're trying to get US killed." she glared at them both.

Ben shook his head. "He's out smoking most likely. I was just going to teleport directly into my room and then right back out to be honest. It's much easier that way, and I won't run into anybody and have questions ask. And my roommate is like... never home." he explained to her. "Will teleporting be alright?"

Adam paused again as he turned the ignition, frowning even more than usual. He glanced sidelong at Ysabel....then looked back forward and put the brand new Dodge Charger into gear. "Our jurisdiction. Learn your lines. You step over them and the fucks over at the next precinct will be on your ass." He shook his head again and drove out of the garage and onto the road. Aside from the sound of the car's powerful engine humming and the bleeping of the in-car computer setup, it was oddly silent. Adam drove the streets like a professional; he'd clearly been here a while... but he didn't offer up any sort of conversation starters.

It was a good thing Aeryn stepped in, because while tiny, Sydney was not afraid of jerks like Damien. She had actually shoved him back a step and was about to unload when she felt a sharp pang of ice hit her chest. She growled angrily and brushed it off. "I would be more understanding if your mind fuck here," she threw her hand at Damien, "wasn't such a self-righteous asshole. You mind fucks are all the same. Dig around, find what you want and turn on the person before you even know anything about them." She folded her arms and the anger in the alleyway seemed to only intensify.

Damien was going to be quiet, until she compared him to guys like Trevor. It both pissed him off and hurt a bit but he stood his ground. "Get your head out of your ass. Not all of us "mind fucks" are here to screw you over. You know what?!" he growled, doing something he'd never done before. "Go. Run off to Trevor. Tell him all about me. About us. You are stupid and naive to think he'll keep his word. You're stupid to think she doesn't know about your sister. I fucking dare you to go to him but know this. You need help hiding yourself and your sister..yeah good luck with that." he NEVER turned anyone away to the wolves...but only someone who knew him well could see his physical discomfort.

Keira looke to him with a nod. "Then I'm ready whenever you are, Vegas." she told him with a smile, tilting her head to the side.

"Yea yea, pretty boy. I know the lines. I've been through this dance before you know." Ysabel said as she looked over at him before getting comfortable in the seat. She looked out the window and began to memorize street names and locations. It was a big city and take her some time, but she figured grumps a lot could drive most of the time."

Ben chuckled and soon enough, Kiera would feel the same sensation she had from a couple of nights ago when he had teleported them. When she could see again, they were sitting on a small, double-wide bed in a tiny room. He still had most of his stuff in boxes, so this would actually make it easier. "Oh boy. Where to start?" he asked as he looked around.

Aeryn shoved Damien back with a growl. "What the hell is your problem?! You don't want her reporting back to Trevor. For one who always prides himself on haivng a level and thinking, you're acting like a fucking idiot! That's my job!" she told him. Turning back to Sydney, her look was not a nice one. "Before you go bitching to Trevor, I'm willing to talk about this. And coming from me, this means a lot."

Adam glanced over at her, just shaking his head. No one had ever called him pretty boy. Her little nicknames were going to end. Now. "It's Jensine. We're partners. Beyond that, there's no reason to get any more familiar. I'm sure you won't be here long." He continued driving. taking all the main streets, as well as side streets. He was surprised their radio hadn't gone off already. Quiet day in LA.

Sydney let out a humorless laugh. "You think I trust him? See? Typical mind fuck. You think you know everything about me because you invaded my head once and gleaned some info off the top of what I was thinking about. You are really thick if you think I believe a word that man says. I'm not trying to hide myself or my sister. Or my whole family for that odd matter. I mean...you already know about them, right? Did you get that little bit or did I shove your intruder ass out too quickly?" She scowled and looked over to Aeryn. "Your boy here wants me to just go tell Trevor. So why don't I? It'll make him happy because then he's right. And he wouldn't like not being right."

Damien had already left the girls halfway through Sydney's rant, biting back his rage as he slipped a piece of gum into his mouth. He lingered at the mouth of the alley, keeping a watch out more than anything. Aeryn was one to talk.....she'd robbed him of all but two hours of sleep the night before, yet he still wasn't sure why. In anycase he was in no mood to be rational towards some little priss bighead of a waitress. Let her report them, he knew how to avoid Trevor to keep them safe, she didn't. He chewed rather agressively on his gum, thinking it was a very bad day to be out of cigarettes.

````````````
Keira opened her eyes and looked around the tiny bedroom, "Um....clothes first. Pack light, but enough for a week or so at the apartment. I...I don't know when and if we'd have to leave...." She stood then, walking around the room a little, her eyes landing on a picture on the dresser. "These your folks?" she asked him with a smile, they looked happy.
"Okay pretty boy." Ysabel shrugged as she watched out of the window. When he said she wouldn't be here long, she began to laugh. Almost hysterically. Her laugh was very attractive and ear catching. "Oh Mr. Jensine. Your wit is absolutely astounding!" she told him as she batted her eyelashes at him. "Just a little secret between us?" she asked as she leaned forward conspiritually. "No matter how hard you work that mighty fine ass of yours off? You're stuck with me. My spot is pretty much cemented in. And seeming as how they have problems finding partners for you in the first place? Well you just make it easier for me to stay." she shrugged. "Don't worry, I won't get in your way as you work your little magick." she wiggled her fingers at him. "But you should just get used to the idea of me being here." and with that, she went back to watching out of the window.
Ben picked up a duffle bag and began to pack it with clothes, folding them for the maximum compacity. He was a surprisngly efficient packer. Looking over, he smiled. It was a picture they had taken at the Grand Canyon. His mother, father, and him. He didn't have any siblings, he was just an only child. "Yea. That's them." he told her.
Aeryn watched Damien leave, and rolled her eyes before turning back to Sydney. Why the fuck was she doing this? Oh yea, for Kiera. She was having to be nice to some bitch because she wanted what was best for Kiera. "Or how about you don't go running back to that idiot." she crossed her arms over her chest. Despite all that had already happened, her appearance was pristine. Not a single hair was out of place. "I'm sure we could make an arrangement mutually beneficial to both of us."
Adam didn't say much. The only sign that he'd even heard her was the tightening of his jaw. Hell no. He wasn't playing this bullshit favorites game. She thought she could just come in and be in like that? No... it didn't work that way. He almost smirked at her cocky assurance. Sure, sweetheart. You just convince yourself that you're cemented in.
As soon as she went to look back out the side window, Adam took a voraciously sharp turn. The car and he handled it with ease, but he glanced out the sides of his eyes. "Nearly missed my turn," he said, turning the radio up as a call came through. Loitering. Fuck that. Let someone else deal with it.
When Damien left, the tangible, simmering anger that was flooding the alley seemed to slowly dissipate. Sydney turned to Aeryn, bringing up her hand and gnawing at her nails. She was careful to keep that mental wall up though.... First Trevor and now Damien had taken her unaware. She was tired of being mind fucked... it was so annoying... but the mental strain of upkeeping the wall was not easy. It made it hard for her to focus. "Mutually beneficial? Listen...thanks for the help, really, but I'm not indebted to you. I didn't ask for the help. Those douchebags just want money. I don't owe you anything...so why should I help you?" she put her not-being-gnawed on hand on her hip.
Keira smiled, picking up the frame and pressed it gently into his hands. She lifted a small black locket, the chain long enough to hide it in her cleavage. It was black, embellished with silver vines and diamond flowers and buds. "It was my great-grandmother's...." she told him, opening it to reveal a picture of her and her parents on one side, the other side held a much older photo of her and her grandmother. "Its important to have something, something to remind you of what you're living for. Something to remind you where and who you came from." She smiled, sounding a lot older than she was.
Ysabel knew she only managed to piss him off more, and this seemed to fill her with glee. What she told him was the truth. He really had no idea. If he did his research on her later, he would see just how serious she was. She was doing just fine, until he turned the car. Sharply. Her hand reached out, and she 'accidentally' smacked him in the face to catch herself. "Sorry!" she yelped, sounding apologetically. But really, she wasn't. "I promise it won't happen again." she told him.
"Because we can help you. I have a way to where Trevor would never be aware of your family. If you don't rat us out. Listen, I know Damien is a rude dumb ass who intrudes where he shouldn't. Pisses me off too. Trust me. I'm not a big fan of mind readers either." she told her. "But I really don't need you turning us in. Hell. Join us if you want. Since they seem to let anybody join these days." an obvious jab at Ben. "We'll keep you safe from the asshole if you wish."
Ben looked down at the picture in his hands, staring at it for a long while. Finally he looked back up at Kiera, and studied the locket in her hand in the pictures that lay within. Finally, he placed the picture gently on top of his clothes before zipping up his duffle bag. "Yea... I guess you're right." he told her. He gave one last looking around. When something caught his eye, he walked over and pocketed it before Kiera could see what it was.
