"Deal. Rematch later." She told him, grinning as they walked inside, "Though I don't think it'll make much of a difference...." She teased, nodding at his observation. "I'm hungry too. I hope Liz made up something yummy for lunch." She mused, happily reassured by the delicious aromas that wafted down the hallway. Ohh....burgers were on the menu. "Liz that smells deli-" She froze in the doorway since it wasn't Lizbeth at the stove. Well, she was in there but...Her eyes went wide and her heart raced. "Daddy?" Steven turned with a chuckle, squatting as she dashed towards him so he could give her a proper hug. "Hey there, munchkin...goodness you've grown!" He grinned, pulling back and wiping the delicate, happy tears off of her face. "Now we'll have none of that. O'Connors are tough." He teased her lightly, kissing the top of her head as she nodded with a shaky laugh. "That's my girl. Now, who is your friend over there?" Violet looked back to Eliot with a small smile, gesturing for him to come over. "This is my friend Eliot. He's new." She said simply, still a little in shock that her father was there. Kendra rolled her eyes with a playful sigh, "Dang yo-" She stopped short opening the door as she heard something thud against the house. "Get off you bitch!" "I said take it back!" "Why!? Not my fault your fa-" A yelp and a groan was heard then and Kendra recognized one of the voices as Sparrow's. She handed Justin to Ren without another word and ran to the back of the house. She found Sparrow with her knee in the back of Dennis, a boy about her age, and pinning him to the ground. He helped Jeremy out once and a while in the blacksmith shop and was overall a nice kid, if a little rough around the edges. Sparrow was breathing heavy, Dennis's face spattered with dirt and a little bit of blood. Probably from colliding with the ground. "Sparrow!" Kendra screeched, hoisting her little sister off of him as he scrambled to his feet. Sparrow was never violent... "What the hell is going on!?" "He started it." "She's fucking crazy!" "Hey! Dennis watch that tongue. This is my sister who just beat your ass. Now I want to know why!" Kendra demanded, holding Sparrow by her wrist and Dennis by the collar of his shirt. The latter suddenly turned pale and no longer willing to speak. "He was talking about Dad. Told me he was shot down by our side because he betrayed us!" Sparrow spat out, her voice shaking as she tried not to cry. Kendra took a deep breath, mostly not to injure the two in her grasp. "You know that's complete bull, Sparrow. He'd never do that..." But her gut told her he would. If his girls were in danger her father would do anything to save them. "Besides, he wasn't a part of the resistance. You guys were taken by force...." She turned her attention to Dennis then, "I will talk with you later and you'd better have all of your fact straight." She warned him and as soon as she let go he took off running towards the shed. She sighed and adjusted her hold on Sparrow so her arm went around her shoulders. "Come on...let's go grab lunch..." She insisted, leading her back to the door as she fixed her sister's hair. "Deep breaths. Don't let him get to you..." She murmured, pressing a kiss into her hair. Jeremy made a face at her, leaning forward a bit over her shoulder so she could see it. "Buttmunch." He sighed, poking her thigh playfully before chuckling. "So! I hope you like cold cuts! Its what I could muster out of the kitchen before Liz came in to cook lunch. I don't think she even knew they were in the fridge. Oh! and I managed some of the brownies from the other night..." He added with a small shrug as they trotted along. Keira smiled as he sat down, "Good, I'm really glad she's doing better. I know Harry will take good care of her." She reassured him, taking a sip of her water with a happy sigh. "So what did you guys talk about?" She asked curiously, knowing it was pretty much all they could talk about without bringing the subject back around to her. |

"Hey, don't get cocky now. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into." Eliot told her with a grin as he walked with Violet towards the kitchen. "If there's one thing I've learned quickly around here, it's that Lizbeth is a really good cook." He told her with a grin, his words proven by the smell of whatever it was that Liz was cooking. When they entered the kitchen, he paused as he saw an extra man in there, one he had yet to meet. He studied him curiously, blinking as Violet rushed towards him and called him daddy. It sent a quick pang to his heart, making him yearn for something that he had never had. Quickly vanishing feelings that led him nowhere, he stood off to the side, not quite sure what to do at the moment. Should he just go sit down? He was debating this and moving when Violet introduced her father to him. His intelligent eyes moved over the man as he studied him and tried to see what he could make of the man before waving. "Hello sir." He greeted him politely, not quite sure what else to do. Ren paused too as he heard the voice, head moving over towards where the noise was coming from. He quickly took Justin from Kendra, now having one child in each arm as he stood there. He debated going over to see what was going on, but knew he had to get the kids in and some lunch, they came first. Kendra could handle this. Grabbing the door with his foot, he opened it up as he led them inside. "So what do you guys want for lunch?" He asked Samantha and Justin with a grin. Caelynne squeaked as Jeremy poked her before giggling. "Stupid head." She shot back with a grin before laughing. "Sandwiches then? I'm down." She told him before her eyes lit up at the sound of brownies. "Brownies are even better. You sure know the way to a girls heart." She teased him as she leaned back to nudge him. "Eugh, everything. My mother is one of those people who can find a conversation out of anything." Ben told Keira with a smile as he leaned back comfortably in his chair. "The past, present, future. You know, all the good stuff." He told her with a wink. "She wants to know when she gets to talk to you again." He told her as he waggled his eyebrows playfully at her. |

Steven chuckled with a wave back, "Ah, good to see a boy with manners. Come on in. What do you want on your burger?" He asked simply as Lily went off to help Liz set the table. She kept looking over her shoulder at her father though, as if making sure he wouldn't disappear. "We've got pickles, cheese, peppers, chips, onions..." Sam looked worried but couldn't help but smile as Ren grinned at her. "I smell burgers..." She amitted, laughing a little as Justin made a face. "Yuck!" "Burgers aren't yucky....they're really yummy!" Justin didn't look convinced, mumbling something about grilled cheese as Sammy rolled her eyes. "He's never liked burgers. He's weird like that...." "I would hope I do by this point!" Jeremy laughed as she nudged him, weaving them through the woods. Soon enough there was the faint sound of running water and they came upon a clearing by the creek. It was beautifully sunny with flowers and small bushes all around. The water was crystal clear, flashes of fish darting through the sunlight. "So, what do you think, shortie?" He asked as he brought them to a stop. Keira smiled, blushing faintly at the fact his mother had asked about her. "Soon enough I'm guessing..." She laughed a little, but happy to hear the conversation had stayed light and happy. "Why does she want to talk to me?" She asked simply, wondering how she'd made that much of an impression in a short span. Actually, aside from Daniel and Damien's mother she had never really gotten along with a beau's mother. It just never worked out. |

"Umm..." Eliot trailed off, a little overwhelmed by all of the choices. The only burger he had ever had was at McDonald's... "Just ketchup?" He asked a little meekly as he followed everybody into the kitchen, suddenly feeling very out of his element. This was all so new to him, and he suddenly wished he had his sister here with him. There were lots of new people and all of these new choices and completely new surroundings; it was a little bit overwhelming. Ren chuckled as he nudged Justin a little bit. "But that's what Rex eats is burgers! Don't you wanna eat the same things as Rex?" He asked the little boy with a grin as he walked into the bustling kitchen, not seeming to mind all of the people, nor seemed too particularly concerned that he was carrying around two children. When they finally arrived at their destination, Caelynne looked around with a bright smile on her face. It was so beautiful out here! She absolutely loved the country, and could never imagine living in the city again after her stay here on the ranch. "I love it." She said with a sigh. "I could totally take a nap here." She admitted as she smiled back at Jeremy, her smile lighting up her eyes. "Thank you." "She likes you, obviously." Ben teased her as he nudged her playfully but gently. "She thinks you're very pretty and have a very good head on your shoulders. And she just wants to get to know you more since she knows how much I care about you." He told her with a smile. |

Steven chuckled softy, seeing the boy becoming a bit overwhelmed by the options. "Nahh that's no way to eat a real burger. Come on over here and you can taste the options..." He offered, gesturing to the cutting board and a few smaller bowls filled with sauteed onions and mushrooms, grilled peppers, and different sauces. "No rush, just tell me what you'll want." He added, looking up briefly as Ren came in with the kids. Sammy giggled, squirming to get down once she saw Violet and Liz. Justin on the other hand seemed as deep in thought as a 3-year-old could be. "But they're ucky!" He insisted, though he looked a little bit conflicted on the subject now. Jeremy grinned as he gained her approval, hopping down from the horse but didn't bother to tie her off. He knew she'd sooner flop in the sunlit grass instead of wandering off. "Well I'm just glad you approve!" He mused simply, helping her down before unpacking an old, obviously well-loved quilt. "Alright. Help me get this down and then we'll chow down. Sound good?" Keira felt her cheeks burn slightly but she gave him a small smile. "I'm just happy she likes me...." She admitted with a slight laugh, taking another bite of her lunch. "So other than that how is the outside world? I can't wait to have an actual window..." She mused, hating being cooped up inside more than anything in the world. |

((It's official! I get to go home for the weekend in June! Plane tickets are bought! I'm so excited!)) "That's actually an opinion and not a stated fact, sir. It's what you perceive to be the best way, but that won't necessarily mean I agree with you." Eliot was unable to help himself from speaking up, once again not sounding his age. It seems like Violet was the only one so far who had managed to achieve a child like attitude with him. He looked at all of the vegetables before him and studied them with a quizzical eye. He picked up a mushroom to eat first since it smelled the best, and chewed it carefully before moving on to the next selection, determined to try them all and try to sort them with what would taste best with the beef of the burger. ((..... You are the strangest child I have ever had in my mind... and that is saying something! lmao)) Ren laughed as Sammy squirmed in his arm before he set her down so she could head over to Violet and Liz. Turning back to Justin, he poked the little boy playfully. "Have you ever actually tried it? Did you even try to eat it like a T-Rex?!" Ren demanded with a grin. "We can eat our burgers like T-Rex's, just like Rex, and I bet it will taste yummier!" "Of course I would, why wouldn't I?" Caelynne asked with a giggle as she took Jeremy's helping hand and slid off of the horse and down onto the ground. "And I can do that. What do you want me to grab?" She asked as she wiped her hands off on her long jean shorts. Ben laughed as he leaned over to press a kiss into her hair. "You act as if you been cooped up on this bed for days on end." He teased her. "Nothing really exciting... oh. I forgot. As I was talking to my mother I heard a new person over in the other room. Apparently your father is checking in." He told her. |

((Whoop! That is awesome! I just bought my ticket to Bookcon in NYC. I cannot wait. Mini graduation gift to myself. lol)) “It’ll be your opinion to once you try it…” Steven teased with a chuckle. Somehow, though, it didn’t surprise him his daughter’s new friend was a bit odd. A lot of the kids here were a little off because of the situation. “Find a winner yet?” He asked simply as he flipped the burgers over. Kendra smiled as she walked into the kitchen, having made Sparrow clean up in the bathroom down the hall before she was allowed to come into the kitchen. She heard Ren and Justin, stopping briefly to kiss Steven on the cheek lightly in greeting before walking over. “He’s right, bud. Besides, you liked the meatloaf from the other night. It is the same thing but a different shape!” She added, chuckling lightly as he looked just that more conflicted. They went through this every time they had burgers and a few other items. “Come on….let’s set you down and then we’ll figure it out. Pinky promise me you’ll try it…?” Justin debated before finally nodding and holding out his pinky. “Pwomise.” He giggled as she hooked their fingers together tight before letting her take him to be put in his booster. Once he was settled, Kendra looked back to Ren with a small smile. “Thanks, by the way…Sorry I just kinda vanished but Sparrow got herself into a bit of trouble.” Jeremy chuckled as he handed her one end of the blanket. After a few moments of laughing as they fought with a gentle but stubborn gust of wind they finally got it down, a perfect spot in the shade. “Alright…now the main attraction. Food!” He grinned, gesturing for her to follow him back to Misty. He emptied one of the saddlebags, revealing a bag of different coldcut packages, two rolls, water, and even another few smaller bags of lettuce, tomato and some peppers and handed a few to her. “Still look like a good lunch?” He mused as they walked back to the blanket to plop down. Keira nodded, but nearly choked on her food as he continued. “My father is here…why…” She turned it over in her head as she sat back a little bit, looking conflicted. She was overjoyed at the thought of her father being here. Being able to see him after all this time, but; what was he doing back here? It was really dangerous for him to come back. She wanted to facepalm as she looked down. Right. Her father had always been a protective one. If he heard about last night, much less the mole they’d had to deal with, no wonder he was here. Hillary, Carol and Tyler were probably in big trouble….and it was partically her fault. That thought made her almost physically wince. |

((Ooh, that sounds so exciting!!! And there's nothing wrong with treating yourself! ))Eliot was quiet as he took time to collect him mind. "I think I'm going to go with mushrooms and swiss cheese." He told him finally with a small smile. "I don't think I like green peppers very much. What do you like eating on your burgers?" He asked him as he watched him flip the burgers. "Do you usually pay attention to the internal temperature of the burgers to tell when they're cooked or do you just go by sight? What does a cooked burger usually look like? Is there a specific process? Does the heat have to be a certain temperature and do the burgers have to weigh a certain weight?" The questions began to come left and right now that he was comfortable with Violet's father, having decided that he really liked the man. He'd never had a male figure in his life, only his sister and Aeryn (and they were both amazing and had taught him so much), but he always wanted to know what it would be like to have another guy around. Were they supposed to talk about certain things? Ren smiled as Kendra entered the room and promptly end the discussion he was having with Justin, getting the little boy to agree to try the hamburger. He chuckled as he watched them pinky swear and waited for Kendra to walk back over. "It's no big deal. I think I had things well in hand." He teased. "Everything alright with Sparrow?" He asked her. Caelynne giggled as they worked on getting the blanket settled before beaming as Jeremy brought out the food. She followed him back to Misty and helped grab some of the stuff and bring it back to the blanket. "Still looks yummy." She promised him as she sat down on the blanket, sighing happily as the already sun warmed fabric pressed against her skin. Wow that felt good, and was going to make her slightly drowsy after she finished eating. "So what kind of sandwich will you be making?" She asked him with a smile. "I can only guess that it has to do with everything that just recently happened. And I think I heard him talking about you and the mission." Ben told her with a shrug. "I tried not to stick around because eavesdropping is rude and I didn't want our first meeting to be with him already angry. I'm dating one of his little girls so he's already going to dislike me on the spot, no need to make it worse." He joked lightly. |

((Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson) is hosting a panel. Needless to say I will be fangirling in the back.... lmao)) Steven just chuckled, answering him once the young boy had taken a breath. "Easy now, kiddo. Shrooms and swiss is a great combo and usually I roast red peppers, they're a bit sweeter, but all we had were green at the moment." He mused with a small shrug, "When you're first learning you always keep track of the internal temp but when you're an old vet like me you learn to trust your instincts. See the color, know the timing, listening to the sizzle....just takes practice. Heat? Hot. Burger size? The bigger the burger, the longer it has to cook." He explained simply, pulling a stool over so Eliot could see better. He obviously didn't mind the inquisitive young boy. In fact, it was far more relaxing being pummeled with his questions than being in a boardroom. Kendra chuckled before shrugging, glancing around to make sure her sister wasn't back yet. "Yeah, she's a little shaken though. Apparently there are rumors floating around that our father was a traitor. One of the young guys that works with Jeremy decided to tell Sparrow this....she didn't take the news well. When I found them she had her knee in his back as he ate dirt, demanding he take it back. They were going at it for a bit because she was a bit scraped up and dusty as well when I arrived. She's cleaning up now. I never even knew she knew how to fight..." She said simply, having lowered her voice as to not alert the others. She wanted to take care of this mess herself. Jeremy thought it over as he handed her a roll, "I was thinking chicken, roast beef, peppers, cheese and...maybe lettuce." He grinned with a nod, already hungry at just the thought of food. Hey, he'd worked hard! Well, kinda. "What about you, shortie?" He mused as he began to build his creation. Keira made a face, even if she did blush a bit. "He's not going to hate you on the spot....he might be confused on the spot but not hate you." She teased him lightly but her stomach did twist a little bit with nerves. Her father was a sweet, burly bear....if you weren't someone pissing him off or a boy going near his girls. Oye....this should prove interesting. |

((I'm alive! Barely. xD)) Eliot nodded and took note of everything Stephen was telling him as he hopped up on the stool he dragged over and perched upon it as he watched Stephen cook. "So it's one of those things where you just have to practice lots?" He asked him. "And what does sizzling have to do with it? Do you guys make your own beef? Like do you raise it here and slaughter it yourselves? I would imagine that it would be cleaner that way, but a lot of a hassle." Ren nodded as he listened, somehow not that surprised to know that Sparrow had whooped the boys butt. Look at her big sister after all. "What are you going to do about it? Just ignore it?" He asked her curiously. Those were some nasty rumors to be spreading. "Chicken and beef together?" Caelynne made a face at the thought. "I want ham and roast beef with peppers, onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, pickles, and cheese!" She told him with a grin, suddenly much more hungry. She really liked this idea of Jeremy's. It was just so relaxing to get out of the busy kitchen that was always crowded with people. She felt so much more relaxed and safe out here with Jeremy. "I'm dating one of his baby girls. I'm pretty sure the man is NOT going to be very fond of me, belle." Ben teased as he shot a smile down at her. "I guess I better start writing my will now." He sighed playfully. |
